Looks like both of the current missions that I have open are full. Here's the team list, and the current list of who is going where post time skip. If others want to do something in the field after the timeskip and there's no spots, I'll figure out something else. Trying to not make the mission sizes too large this time and run into trouble with that again.

Repo Duty: Artemis, Harold, Szarlota, Charlie

Super Strain: Ainsley / NY Dynamo, Jack, Alasdair, Zekulu, Serge

Shanghai Hustle (Closed): Li, Sun, Candace, TBA

Repo duty is full, I will likely have something else for anyone not on the two open missions to do, though.

KAIROS THEODOSIAN

Name: Kairos Theodosian
Nickname/Alias: the Warlock
Appearance:
Image

Gender: Male
Age: 39
Build: 5'9", 440lbs
Faction: Slaugterhouse East
Power Classification: Genetic

Description of Powers: The warlock is classified as a fleshwarper and is able to mutate himself and anything he touches at will. The speed at which he warps the flesh of those around him depends upon the extent of contact to his body and the presence of natural defenses to resist his will. His body is heavily modified and extremely dense with layers of carbon-reinforced keratin laying dormant under his epidermis that acts like natural body armor. When in his "battle form" he will sprout additional appendages and his existing limbs will transform to claws/wings/or extended tentacles depending on the situation. His body is known to possess heightened regeneration abilities, tolerance to blunt force, resistance to high temperatures and even radiation.

Physical combat, however, is not the Warlock's specialty nor why is feared. His flesh warping abilities effectively allow him to craft new organisms at will, ranging from cultures of microbes to large kaiju sized monsters which defy the bounds of known biology. Tends to surround himself with "pets" that he is able to control to an extent. The only limits as to what he is able to create are the availability of biomass, time and the scope of his imagination. Suspected as the one who created the Slaughterhouse Parasite, he tops the kill list of multiple heroic organizations and national security services. One of the reasons why the Warlock remains a persistent threat despite decades of activity and the focus of heroic pressure is his practice of creating clones of himself which are stashed in remote locations. Unless all copies of him are eliminated, new Warlocks will emerge after an active copy is killed.

Weaknesses: Despite his extensive physical defenses, the Warlock is not too hard to kill once found. Two Warlocks have been killed prior to the current iteration through a combination of fire and kinetic attacks that overwhelmed his regenerative abilities. Requires physical contact to induce mutation in a subject so ranged attacks are frequently used against him. In addition, larger projects require significant amounts of biomass and have gestation periods extending to several months. Lastly, all of his projects possess expiration periods, with the longest-lived among them lasting only four years. Typically his creations began showing signs of degrading only a few months after their birth. The only exception is other metahumans he kidnapped and forcibly mutated.

Equipment: Various labs and facilities where he creates his projects

Alignment: Neutral Evil
Nationality: Canadian
Hometown: Toronto
Sexuality: Straight, though some question if he still possess sexual organs

Personality: Originally possessing a very focused and intelligent mind, his psyche shows marked degradation over time, possibly due to self-tempering and experimentation. The different copies of the Warlocks also have their own personal quarks, with the second iteration noting to have referred himself in the third person. The current Warlock is documented to have massive personality drift compared to the original and shows erratic/arbitrary behavior.

Motivation: Desires to create the perfect life from and seeks to gather samples from other metahumans to further his goals.

Biography: Kairos Theodosian originally showed great promise as a powerful metahuman who used his fleshwarping abilities to heal those he touched. Hailed as potentially one of the greatest heroes of his age, Kairos was taken in by the Canadian government at an early age to be trained in biology and the medicinal sciences. He spent his youth being traded among VIPs to heal their ailments and even extend life among those he touched. It is suspected that it was during these formative years that he acquired many of his current antisocial tendencies. Only very occasionally was he paraded to the public as a cure to their woes, doling out healing in tightly regimented schedules.

It was during one of these public appearances where he began his descent from hero to devil. In February of 2001 during a tour in Ottawa, an anguished woman broke through the security barricade around his motorcade and thrust the dead body of her deceased infant in front of Kairos, impeaching him to perform a miracle. Before his handlers were able to stop him, Kairos placed a hand on top of the dead child and to everyone's surprise, it began to cry. This incident caused a massive uproar to say the least. Public opinion was split among those that saw him as the savior of mankind and those who viewed him as performing the most unholy of blasphemies.

Two months after the incident in Ottawa, a group of armed men and metahumans breached the facility where Kairos was held. It is still unknown as to what the intention of the group was, whether they were sent to kill or kidnap Kairos for their own ends. Whatever their intention was, they were very well prepared and able to overwhelm the site security. The electrokinetic metahuman among them proceeded to fry the site’s electrical system, wiping the data on the facility’s security cameras. Very little is known what happened between the start of the intrusion and the arrival of government reinforcements. Of the thirteen intruders, the bodies of eleven were eventually pieced back together. They were so toughly pulverized, eviscerated and corroded with acid that none were to be positively ID’d. Of Kairos there was no trace.

The public backlash after the attack became public knowledge was only superseded by news of what happened to the child that Kairos resurrected. In the beginning, it showed few abnormalities but as the weeks dragged on it became more bestial, eventually losing all semblance of humanity. Soon the child’s body began to rapidly decay, eventually reducing into a pile of rotting flesh. Those that decried Kairos and his ability were seemingly vindicated and the public began to think if his disappearance was not for the best.

Eight years passed without any new of Kairos. However, in late 2009, strange creatures began appearing across the country. Large swarms of bloodthirsty flies that induced high fever and death in all those that they bit. Chimeras and amalgamations of flesh attacked various metahumans seemingly without cause. For an entire year, these creatures terrorized the continent before a crack team of heroes tracked them to their source. In a disused bunker under a factory farm, they uncovered the lair of someone calling himself the Warlock. A battle ensued between the heroes and the Warlock’s army of monsters. Eventually, the heroes manage to kill all of the Warlock’s creatures and wounding the man himself, forcing him to flee. In the Warlock’s lab they uncovered the grisly remains of dozens of people and metahumans, all either dissected or else so thoroughly mutated that none of their original humanity remained.

Heroic and government investigators eventually deduced the identity of the Warlock to be the missing Kairos Theodosian based on powers shown during the battle and data obtained from the lab’s computer. Fears of the Warlock’s capabilities and his potential to create extinction level plagues caused him to be pushed to be the top of the kill list. A special task force of hardened metahuman killers and veteran heroes was created to hunt down the Warlock and eliminate him. Numerous engagements followed but the team was never quite able to kill him due to the Warlocks substantial physical resistance and regeneration abilities.

In 2012 they tracked him to a remote coastal village in Nova Scotia. The fighting that ensued was fierce with the Warlock deploying mutated metahumans who still possessed their powers against the strike team. However, the leader of the heroic team, a Captain Solaris, managed to completely destroy the Warlock’s body with one his signature ‘solar beams’. Hopes of the Warlock’s demise proved false as he reappeared only a year later apparently no worse for wear. The method of the warlock’s resurrection was discovered after a group of scavengers stumbled onto what appeared to be one of the Warlock’s lairs in an abandoned mine. The strike team that was sent found a copy of the Warlock in stasis, but before they could retrieve the body, an alarm was triggered. The tactical nuclear warhead buried below the lab was detonated, wiping out everyone including the clone.

The Warlocks connection the Slaughterhouse villains was suspected immediately after their debut attack on Toronto but was only confirmed after their attack on Chicago, which included teams of chimeras which were signature creations of the Warlock. Recently the Warlock began to use massive Kaiju beasts instead of the smaller creatures he previously favored. The attack on Monterey and Seoul were both notable as they caused thousands of casualties before they were able to be repulsed.

Sorry, but Slaughterhouse East isn't taking any apps.

EDIT: And to elaborate on that, it's not a rule that's there for no reason, the group itself only appears in the thread sporadically so you would only be able to play your character sporadically.

Why would the Young Guardians take someone from prison when he's even described in the app itself as being incompetent? Of course, everyone is in training and nobody is going to be a brilliant hero from day one, but the program isn't so unexclusive that it recruits incompetent heroes who have been arrested. The other weakness is also pretty vague since it doesn't say anything about when his powers don't work and just says that they don't sometimes.

Independent villain is technically allowed but officially discouraged at this point in time because none of the villain groups have been introduced in the IC and there's not any openings to jump into them, so you'll basically end up with a character with... Not much to do. The characters will be heading off to deal with main plot stuff and we don't need more player villains yet, and things haven't branched to involve stuff outside of that.

I see, well maybe latter then when the IC becomes a little more fleshed out. I would still like the character to be put into consideration however if there’s a need for a situation where the heros need to fight something

DESMOND MORROW/DAGON ARGRAVE

Name: Desmond Morrow/Dagon Argrave
Nickname/Alias: Revenant
Appearance:
Image
Image
Image

Gender: Male
Age: 23
Build: 6’1” and athletic
Faction: Young Guardians
Power Classification: Genetic

Description of Powers:
  • Two Souls (Both) - In one body lays two soul. Depending on whether it’s Dagon or Desmond in control, the personality of the body shifts. There are some physiological changes as well. When Desmond is in control, the body is right-handed and has brown eyes. With Dagon, the left and blue. Control of the body can be passed freely between the two with a short meditation, or be forcefully taken. If this is done, the two struggle, and once one personality wins they are dazed for a minute or two as they adjust to being in control again. The personality in control also determines which powers the body has access to.

  • Second Wind (Both) - If both personalities are in single-minded in purpose and the personality in charge is incapacitated, the other personality can take over, awakening the body from unconsciousness or sleep. The powers switch accordingly to the personality in charge.

  • Regeneration (Both) - Revenant’s greatest ability is his healing factor. His able to recover from things such as bullets wounds, stab wounds, and third-degree burns within moments. He can regrow and reattach limbs, survive and move without his head, and even regenerate from a single cell, although this regeneration would take several weeks. His healing factor also makes him immune to foreign bodies, such as poisons and diseases. He must regenerate from the location with the most of his biomass, which at the very least would be from an incredibly resilient section of his suit, which contains a few stems cells needed to regrow him.

  • Enhanced Condition (Both) - Their shared body’s physical condition is significantly greater than that of a normal human. He possess superhuman speed, strength, agility, endurance, reflexes, senses and durability.

  • Combat Ready (Both) - Revenant is a master combatant, trained in several unarmed and armed fighting styles. Similarly, he's been trained in a variety of melee and ranged weapons. He is a master marksman, capable of hitting small, fast moving targets at long ranges, even while running. While he is capable of holding his own against trained professionals, he has to rely on improvisation or his endurance to beat specialists.

  • Dead Zone (Desmond) - After a short moment of meditation, Desmond creates a “dead zone” up to roughly 50-meter zone centered on him. The Dead Zone can be canceled at any time, and lasts for upwards of an hour or until Desmond is knocked unconscious. Inside the zone, all active powers aside from his own are nullified. He can choose up to two allies to be exempt from the Dead Zone’s effects. All electrical devices suffer from malfunctions, stopping communication from entering or leaving the area, and sound leaving or entering the zone is muffled. While in the Dead Zone, Desmond has a significantly higher pain tolerance and durability, not fully feeling the effects of attacks until dropping the Dead Zone. Those that leave the zone have suffer from the effects of the zone for a minute or two, before gradually gaining their abilities or functions back.

  • Spectral Chains (Desmond) - Desmond can create and manipulate ethereal chains inside the Dead Zone. If the chains latch onto a target, the target will suffer the effects of the Dead Zone, even if the Dead Zone isn’t currently active. Once latched on, the chains are durable and resistant to most forms of attack, and are capable of immobilizing and restraining foes.

  • Phantom Pain (Desmond) - Desmond can tie the lifeforce two targets together. If the target is willing, the tie happens instantly. If the target is unwilling, Desmond must lay his hands on the target for thirty uninterrupted seconds. The target’s current pain levels are switched: If one is shot in the leg and the other has a broken arm, the one with a broken arm will no longer feel the pain of their arm, instead feeling a phantom pain in their leg. This pain persists for around ten minutes after the tie is broken. The healing factors of the targets are averaged, allowing for the ties to be used to heal as well as hurt.

  • Armor Bond (Dagon) - While Dagon is in control, the body’s healing factor increases to the point where the armor and weapons can use their variable function. So, while the armor and weapons are usable when Desmond is in control, they are locked into one thickness and form.

  • Universe’s Punching Bag (Dagon) - Sometimes, you feel like the universe is out to get you. For up to two minutes, Dagon can make this feeling a reality, but only for himself. All damage that would befall allies in a three meter radius instead target him. If a sniper shot would aim for a friend’s head, it now finds it way towards Dagon’s. If someone throws a bomb into the center of their group, the explosive force and shrapnel only seems to come at him. In the case of gas attacks, the gas coalesces around him, absorbed and nullified by his cells before anyone else can be harmed. If someone makes a melee attack, they’re compelled to attack Dagon instead of their intended target.

  • Fractured Awareness (Dagon) - Due to his unique mental state, Dagon is able to see through illusions and mental influences.

Weaknesses:
  • Two Souls (Both) - The two beings trapped together aren't exactly thrilled with their current situation. Their personalities, goals and desires are entirely their own, with the one not in control forced to watch as their body responds to the commands of another. As such, they are desperate to find a way to separate themselves from each other, something that could be exploited in the right circumstance. It is also possible for a personality to refuse to appear or even influence the other’s actions (just as moving an arm or leg) if it feels strongly about what the other personality is doing.

  • Second Wind (Both) - If the personalities are switched in this manner, they cannot switch back for several hours. If both personalities are incapacitated, they were be left in a comatose state for a day, leaving their bodies vulnerable to harm.

  • Regeneration (Both) - Although his regeneration is unmatched, it is also predictable. He has to regrow from the point where the most biomass is, make trapping a damaged Revenant easy. Applying constant damage to him can also keep him from regenerating fully, though eventually the trauma will trigger his cocoon state. Finally, regeneration doesn't mean invulnerable. When fighting him, use traps, dismemberment, and high explosives to put him out of commission.

  • Enhanced Condition (Both) - The body’s condition is superhuman, but not to the levels a specialist in a specific physical field. Think Spider-Man levels instead of Hulk

  • Combat Ready (Both) - Thanks to Hawk Institute training, both personalities were trained with the “Jack-of-all-trades” mentality in mind. He can fight and shoot like a trained professional, but it isn’t anything too special. Fighting specialists in their fields will result in him losing unless he can think of a creative way of defeating his opponent.

  • Grey Zone (Desmond) - Desmond needs to choose those exempt from Dead Zone’s effects at the time of meditation. If the meditation is interrupted, he must start over, meditating the full time to allow Dead Zone to take effect. The Dead Zone only affects active powers. A mage couldn’t tap into their magic, but a person with super durable skin would still have super durable skin. Incoming magical or meta attacks would dissipate as they hit the zone, but bullets and non-electronic projectiles would come in unimpeded.

  • Spectral Chains (Desmond) - The chains cannot persist outside of the Dead Zone unless latched onto a target. While not latched on, the chains can be deflected and even broken with enough force.

  • Phantom Pain (Desmond) - Tether wounds bypass armor, landing on Desmond directly. Tethers cannot heal wounds that were formed before the tether was used, and are likewise not felt by Desmond

  • Universe’s Punching Bag (Dagon) - While using this ability, his suit is focused only on survival. It switches to maximum armor thickness, locks weapons into their current form and ammunition, and disables all non-essential functions. He can only use this for up to two minutes total, so while he can toggle it on and off, once the two minutes are up he must wait several hours before he can perform this feat again. If he toggles the ability off while damage is still incoming but hasn’t reached him, it swings back to its original target.

  • Fractured Awareness (Dagon) - Dagon’s mental state also makes him unstable, prone to ignoring plans or orders if he thinks they’re boring and he can get away with it.

Equipment:
  • Organic Suit: Inactive (Desmond): While Desmond is in control, the suit cannot perform any of its higher functions. It is more durable than military grade body armor, but cannot grow in thickness. It still has access to the HUD, scanner, radio, and other gadgets, but cannot create tendrils or constructs. It’s sole advantage over the active mode is its stealth capabilities. While the suit is inactive, it hides him from being detected through magical or mundane means outside of seeing him. It possesses a limited camo, making him harder to spot in dark environments and at long distances. While cloaked, the glowing red bits are muted.

  • Organic Suit: Active (Dagon) Dagon's "suit" is actually a living organism, a seamless blend of technology and organics that puts it in a category all its own. The armor’s defensive capabilities are impressive, able to create durability on par with a tank at its maximum thickness. And with the ability to repair itself roughly at the same rate as Dagon, it makes Dagon a major defensive threat.

However, the armor is rarely at its maximum thickness, often only as thick as military-grade body armor, as increasing the durability eliminates the suits other functions. The suit has a HUD, short-range scanner, zoom focus, and a few other gadgets that would help a soldier in the field. All electronics are powered from the organism, which in turn is powered by Dagon's life-force, acting as a check to his rampant healing factor. The electronics are created by nanobots, which allow the suit's mechanical components to regenerate with its organics.

While in its less durable form, the excess material can be formed into tendrils and shapes, allowing Dagon to create ropes and supports out of his armor. He can even create restraints by separating a piece of his armor into a putty-like substance, which attached to targets and binds their limbs together. These restraints are about as durable as the armor currently is. For example, if the armor is thin due to increased usage of its building features, then the restraints are only as strong as rope. The suit can activate partially, allowing for tendrils to be made and manipulated even while in civilian garb.

Finally, the suit has a small compartment at the base of his spine. This part of the suit is incredibly durable, resistant to all manner of environmental threats, and has the ability to scuttle away if needed. This compartment contains some stem cells, of which Dagon can regenerate from if the rest of his body is destroyed.

  • Combat Evolution: A subset of the creature's ability to create armor, Revenant's suit is capable of adapting to environmental hazards that would limit his regeneration. For instance, if he was thrown into a vat of acid and had no parts of him outside of the vat, the suit would create a cocoon in a day that could survive the acidity, expanding as more of Revenant is formed. The suit would then gain the ability to resist acid for a time, until it became accustomed to the new non-corrosive environment and adjusted itself accordingly.

This environmental resistance can be developed before entering the hazard if Revenant knows what he's facing, taking about a minute of channeling to form, or about five minutes once immersed into the environment. For instance, if he knows he's about to go on a space walk, the suit would evolve to survive the vacuum. However, it wouldn't allow him to the survive reentry. If he takes any damage during the minute, he must start the channeling over again, and any damage to the armor/himself during the five minutes of natural evolution must be healed normally. This resistance can be applied quicker for a specific portion of his body, allowing him to stick his arm into molten metal or his head underwater.

  • Truth: Truth is morphable weapon made from the same organism of Revenant’s suit, capable of morphing between DMR, sniper and shield instantaneously. The gun regenerates its own ammunition, although more damaging ammunition takes longer to make. So while he could burst-fire a DMR without problem, he can't rain down sniper fire at the rate of machine gun. Anything it creates is grey with blue accents. It is capable of firing cryo and enchanted rounds, or imbuing his shield with these powers. The shield can borrow material from the suit, making the armor thinner in exchange for a larger and more durable shield. At its base, the shield is capable of taking a sustained assault from an automatic weapon. Once a day it can morph into a creature and attach itself to a target, forcing the target to answer all questions as truthfully as possible for a period of up to two hours. This is at the cost of not using the weapon for several hours while it recharges/reforms itself.

  • Justice: Justice is morphable weapon made from the same organism of Revenant suit, capable of morphing between LMG, grenade launcher, minigun and blade instantaneously. The gun regenerates its own ammunition, although explosives take longer to make. Any equipment it forms is black with red accents. It is capable of firing incendiary and enchanted rounds, or imbuing his sword with these powers. Once a day it can morph into a creature and attach itself to a target, forcing it to feel all of it's pain receptors activate at once for several minutes. This is at the cost of not using the weapon for several hours while it recharges/reforms itself.

Alignment: Neutral Good as Desmond, Chaotic Good as Dagon
Nationality: N/A, was given American citizenship as a part of becoming a Young Guardian
Hometown: N/A
Sexuality: Hetero

Personality: Desmond is a quiet, reflective man. He’s tries his best to listen more than speak, observing the world carefully before acting. Despite his serious nature, he’s not above a sarcastic barb every now and then, though it’s more often muttered then said aloud. He’s slow to trust, slow to talk about his past, but is staunchly loyal to those he sees as friends.

Dagon likes to talk and make jokes. Occasionally they're funny. Believes he's really a fictional character for an RP, though he doesn't like to tell other people. Is relatively trusting, if a little naive. Stubborn, slightly defiant with little regard for authority he doesn't respect. Believes in doing the right thing, though isn't above a little mischief. Likes talking to people and helping them with their problems or involving them in his schemes.
Motivation: Dagon feels immense guilt for what he was made to do under Hawk Institute control, and desires to make a name for himself as a great hero to atone for his sins.

Desmond believes that he’s beyond redemption at this point, having been personally responsible for the kidnapping of dozens of metas. All he wishes for now is his sister to be safe, and is willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Both want to be free and in their own bodies. Both wish to see Hawk Institute pay for what they’ve done to them and others like them, though are of two minds of whether such a task is even possible.

Biography: It’s hard for Desmond to remember a time when he wasn’t part of the Hawk Institute. They picked him up when he was young, a “recruiter” discovered him just as his powers were manifesting. Despite his age, he initially was able to resist the indoctrination attempts, due in part to his powers ability to help him shrug off mental influences. But everyone has a breaking point. For Desmond, it was his sisters. During one of their sessions, the reeducator didn’t start with their normal mix of propaganda. Instead, he left a few photos in front of Desmond: his sister, exercising her own powers. They threatened that if he didn’t cooperate, they’d take her two. Hawk Institute had no problems keep Desmond in line after that.

Due to his age and power set, Desmond made an ideal “recruiter.” He was young enough to get targets to lower their guard, or even befriend him. And if they did try to resist, he had the training and tools needed to subdue metas still learning how to use their powers. He tried to justify his actions to himself, saying how he was giving these metas purpose, keeping them from living as some villain’s enforcer or some hero’s stooge, but it still never sat well with him. For some of the Institute’s graduates, he was seen as the worst of the worst, actively bringing people in to be conditioned into heartless mercenaries.

Dagon was a different case. Similarly resistant to Hawk Institute’s reeducation, he also lacked any ties to use against him. He was an orphan, with no family and no friends to speak of. And with his powerset, it was hard to inflict any kind of lasting pain or torture that’s shake his already fractured world-view. But these powers were also the key of keeping him in line. His healing factor was accelerating as he aged, so much so it would actually start killing him. To prevent this, they offered him equipment that could save his life, so long as he devoted himself to them. After making it clear they could take the items away at any time, he agreed.

Giving him a suit of armor and weapons capable of keeping his healing factor in check, Dagon was often paired with Desmond. The two had more in common then they’d cared to admit, and despite the differences in personality worked effectively together for years. Dagon saw Desmond as the brother he never had, and fought fiercely against those who threatened him in and out of the Institute. And although he never admitted it, Desmond appreciated the company, glad not to be on his own. In fact, if it weren’t for a freak accident, they would’ve likely stay loyal soldiers of the Institute.

While staying on base, there was the sound of alarms, signalling an attack. Desmond and Dagon were among the first to respond, finding a red and black armored girl tearing her way through the compound. But this wasn’t some random meta, this was Evelyn, Desmond’s own sister. Despite their promises, the Institute lied, recruiting her into their organisation anyway. He didn’t know why she was escaping, but he decided then that he had enough of the Institute, instead aiding Evelyn in her escape. Dagon, more loyal to his brother-in-arms, agreed to help.

They managed to escape, but at a high price. Desmond was mortally wounded, and Dagon’s armor and equipment were indeed shut down, leaving both of them dying. Unwilling to let her brother and her savior die, Evelyn created a cocoon around the two men, hoping to average out Dagon’s healing factor to save them both. She managed to save them, in a way. They were alive, with their personality, powers, and memories intact. But they now shared a body.

Considering the alternative, they were grateful. With nowhere else to turn to, the three sought refuge with the Guardians. They agreed, and the three were now members of the Young Guardians.

EVELYN MORROW

Name: Evelyn Morrow
Nickname/Alias: Proginator
Appearance:
Image
Image

Gender: Female
Age: 19
Build: 5’ 4”
Faction: Young Guardians
Power Classification: Magic/Artificial

Description of Powers:
  • Mother of Monsters: Evelyn possesses a powerful form of biokinesis, capable of converting biomass into cocoons. While the organic material is in the cocoon, she can morph and change it, creating her very own lifeforms. A list of her most common creations are listed below. She believes that if she can get her hands on enough biomass of a meta, she can incorporate the meta’s powers into her creations.

She is capable of controlling the creatures with her mind, though they can operate independently, possessing intelligence equal to that of a dog. The amount of creatures she can control varies with the distance. While she’s at the base, she can control 4 “points” of creatures. The values of the creature match the class (1 is 1, 2 is 2, etc.) She is immune from harm from her own creatures. This doesn’t grant immunity from harm of similar sources. For instance, she is immune to a caustic puddle created by a Boomer, but would still be hurt by a similarly strong puddle of acid she didn’t have a hand in creating.

  • Inner Demon: Through the use of her powers, she has managed to induce her own meta gene. She now possesses a unique physiology that isn’t quite human.

This form begins very similarly to her human form in appearance. She gains fangs, her pupils turn to slits, and her nails become very sharp and durable. Though not as strong or durable as her brother, in this form faster and more agile. Her senses are incredibly heightened, able to see in complete darkness or pick up the scent of a single person in a crowd. Her saliva becomes a mild anesthetic and anti-coagulant, her blood a stinging solution.

As she uses these powers, her form progresses, becoming covered in black and red chitinous armor that is resistant to mundane and magical attacks. She can create tendrils capable of injecting poisons, holding down foes, or turning into bladed instruments. Her feats of strength now equal or even surpass her brother, capable of throwing small cars with ease. She gains a healing factor and a higher pain tolerance, making it difficult to incapacitate her easily. Her saliva is now a paralyzing toxin, her blood a corrosive. Both of these fluids can be injected by the tendrils, or administered at range by spines she can form and launch from her hands. She also possesses an enhanced version of her first ability, making it possible to repair and even reanimate her creations in the field.

Weaknesses:
  • Mother of Monsters: These cocoons take time and energy to make, making them impractical to create in the field. Therefore, she instead needs to create these beings in her lab. Her biokinesis only works on creatures in the cocoons, and as such cannot be used on existing creatures unless they’re dead or willing to slowly be encased by it. And given her track record, it is unlikely anyone in their right mind would enter the cocoon.

  • Inner Demon: There’s only one problem with Evelyn’s new powers: she’s not herself when she uses them. Her personality begins to alter, becoming more psychotic and sadistic. At the highest form, she can become berserk, attack allies for little reason other than she can.

Her powers, much like her creations, are fueled by biomass. Biomass that matches her own seems to work best, so while she could eat an enormous amount of fruit to satisfy this hunger, she prefers the flesh of humans, especially metas, as this satisfies the hunger the longest. Without this, she will start to weaken and die, her body feeding on her own innards. The higher the form she uses, the more biomass is needed to sustain herself, which could explain the high body count she strives for when at this mode. She tries to stay satisfied with raw meat, but has a few clones in a large tank she affectionately calls her “lunch box.” These clones have no sentience, but are otherwise human. She tries to keep these aspect of her a secret from as many as she can.

Her personality shifts are unlikely to occur while she’s not using these powers, but it can still occur. Although she can stop herself from switching to her final form, her personality switches are becoming more random and less controlled. And with the mood shifts comes the hunger. To prevent herself from becoming an potential threat to her allies, she’s developed a drug that suppresses these powers and in turn her personality shifts. But like all drugs, there’s a chance she can become tolerant to it.

Equipment/Experiments:
  • Base: The Class 1 organism is very similar to the creature in the link, though the picture is missing the middle legs places in between the front and back legs. The Class 1 organism is small, normally the size of a small cat but can be as smaller as a tarantula or as as large as a bulldog. It’s decently fast and agile, capable of keeping up with a running human, dodging thrown objects, and crawling up sheer surfaces. It is relatively frail, only taking a few bullets before curling up and dying. Once a fight, it is capable of shifting into one of the below forms, where it is stuck in that form until Evelyn can induce another change or allow it to revert.

Biter: The most basic form. The Biter grows in size before splitting in four, gaining a bit of armor, increases in strength, and grows mandible capable of gnawing through most materials given enough time. The armor can be swapped for changes to their skin, which allow them to have a limited form of camo that makes the hard to make out in dark environments or at long distances. While easily defeated isolated, they never attack as one, instead charging as a swarm of five or six.

  • Bleeder: The Bleeder gains a large, translucent sack on its back and a long proboscis. Bleeders are the medic class of the organisms, capable of injecting targets with pain relievers, Type O blood, or a specialized formula designed to stimulate the targets healing factor. Given time in the lab, Bleeders can also inject other concoctions. Bleeders can target Evelyn’s other experiments.

  • Blighter: A mix between the Bleeder and the Biter, this lightly armored creature has a proboscis capable of piercing thin sheets of metal, or gnawing at materials to weaken them enough to pierce. Its method of attack is to inject the target with hallucinogenic or tranquilizers, weakening or incapacitating targets that are immune to other forms or damage. It’s alternative form forgos the armor and proboscis in favor of minor psychic powers. This form is capable of messing with the concentration of a target, slowing reactions and distracting their thoughts. If a swarm concentrates it can even induce an illusion it senses will cause fear in the target.

  • Boomer: The Boomer increases in size and speed, growing a pulsing sack on its back. This form is stronger and quicker than the other forms, but is significantly more short-lived. This is because it’s job is to run at an enemy and explode, dealing damage and leaving behind a liquid and/or a gas. The type of liquid and gas is determined at its creation. It could leave behind a large puddle of flammable gas, obscuring smoke, or noxious gas.

  • Bubbler: The Bubbler shrinks in size to that of a tarantula and gains glowing red veins. Bubblers have the ability to create small personal shields capable of taking heavy damage for up to ten seconds. The barrier then has to recharge or risk killing the Bubbler. The size of the shield varies on the amount of Bubblers present. A single Bubbler create a barrier the size of a person, making it ideal as a form of infantry protection. A swarm of Bubblers can create large walls, capable of protecting structures from bombardment. Bubblers are very weak, needing to take care not to be destroyed when not using their shield.

  • Base: These organisms are very similar to a Class 1 organism in size and durability, with one key difference. Once the form is taken, it cannot switch, even with Evelyn present.

  • Breacher: Breachers can link themselves psychically to other Breachers, a process that takes anywhere from ten seconds to 5 minutes depending on how far away the Breachers are from each other. Once the link is established, a portal opens up above the Breachers, allowing for passage between them. The portals can close immediately at the behest of the Breacher, but the linking process must start up again in order to reopen, even with the same portal. The portals also close if one of the Breachers are destroyed.

  • Builder: Builders are large, strong organisms, capable of moving large and heavy objects. They also can secreting a paste-like substance capable of strengthening and repairing objects. This can be used to create fortifications, bridges, or supports, altering the environment to help Evelyn's allies.

  • Blaster: Blaster is a winged, agile threat, capable of firing a number of powerful elemental blasts and liquids from its mouth. Depending on what it deems to be the most effective attack, Blaster can spit out anything from a bolt of eldritch energy, a concussive wave, or a caustic puddle, though it takes time to switch between the type of attack it is using. Blaster is particularly good at taking out armored or low mobility targets. It can be taken down with enough gunfire, but its superior senses and speed make it a hard target to hit. Marksman and those with AoE attacks will have an easier time landing the necessary hits.

  • Bruiser: Bruiser is a 7” powerhouse. A super-strong, super-durable humanoid, it is capable of dealing high damage with its powerful claws and bite. Capable of shrugging off most mundane attacks and even high caliber ammunition, it’s particularly vulnerable to magic attacks, which can cut through its thick hide.

  • Billow: Billow is a highly corrosive, highly poisonous sentient gas creature of visibly shifting colors. Useful for area denial, this creature can expand to take up a bubble five meters wide. The cloud isn’t particularly fast, making escaping its reach easy enough. Metas with sufficiently powerful cryogenic powers could slow the cloud’s molecules enough to turn it into a liquid. In that form, it cannot move on it’s own.

Alignment: Chaotic Good/Chaotic Neutral
Nationality: Irish
Hometown: Donegal
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Personality: Evelyn is a cheerful person who loves her work. She seems her constructs as beloved pets, and is often seen with one of two creatures at her heels. She loves teasing word play, bantering with those she considers friends. She want to find someone she can trust enough to reveal her other powers, but at the same time is wary that such a monstrous condition would frighten off anyone she was close to.
Motivation: Evelyn feels guilty about Dagon and Desmond’s current form, and is trying her best to locate a way to safely separate them. She also believes she can somehow control her other form, and hopes to find a way that will allow her to use her powers without being a threat to others.

Biography: Unlike some members, Evelyn walked willingly, if unknowingly, into the arms of Hawk Institute. Given the nature of her powers, she was fascinated with meta gene, wondering if there was a way she could use her powers without the need for a cocoon. So when she was offered a position working at the premier scientific community for the study of meta powers, she gladly took it. It wasn’t until she arrived at the Institute did she learn the truth. Kidnapping, brain washing, forced experimentation: all just some of the horrors she was now complicit in. She knew she had to escape, but was unsure of how. Using her powers, she began developing creatures for use by the Institute, while trying to make a few that would be loyal enough to free her.

However, her efforts did not go unnoticed. She watched as security came into her lab, confiscating her experiments and began looking for her. She managed to slip away, hiding in a supply closet. With no other ideas of how to escape, she created a cocoon around herself, and begun reshaping herself, trying to induce her meta gene. It worked, and soon a horrifying, black and red armored form emerged from the closet, tearing into the hapless security team. As she ransacked the base, she ran into someone she never thought she’d see. Her brother.

The two of them and a stranger escaped thanks to her creating a Breacher that was linked to one in her old lab, but at a high cost. She did her best to save them, and even managed to keep their minds alive, but they were stuck in the same body. Despite this, they still looked like her brother, so they needed a place to be safe from Hawk’s long reach. They went the only place they could: the Guardians.

Since joining the Guardians, Evelyn did her best to fit in. She developed new weapons and armor for Desmond and Dagon, a drug to suppress her mood swings, and even a steady food supply. She’s has hoped for the Guardians, hoping they too won’t prove to be a front for something worse.

Mini Announcement: Guide To Running Subplots

Hello everyone, I just wanted to clear something up while the thread is in the early phase. I've already rejected some ideas from people who want to play villains or play other roles in the plot than Young Guardians, and I'd like to explain how these ideas can actually work and fit in with the current framework of the thread. Most of the ideas weren't rejected because they can't work period, but because they don't follow the right structure. First, you have to understand what a subplot is and what it isn't.

A subplot, or a side arc, is a storyline outside of the main one. For example, if the Young Guardians were in New York fighting Slaughterhouse and the Gamblers were in France and trying to take down the New Order, the Gamblers storyline would be a side arc and the Young Guardians and their fight with Slaughterhouse would be a part of the main plot. As said in the opening post, we don't need more villains for the main plot. This isn't just for the sake of being mean and rejecting ideas from you guys, but for a number of factors.

For one, I tend to not award main plot segments to anyone that I haven't had a lot of experience with before and therefore know that they're reliable. It can be very harmful to the thread if a large number of players are held up because another player is in charge of moving a segment of the main plot along and that player is suddenly busy and can't post when they said they would post.

Furthermore, running part of the main plot takes know-how. It's like being the OP, even if it's only temporary. There's a lot of things that go into making the thread enjoyable, such as making sure that the heroes don't fight enemies that are too far above or below their skill level, deciding how hard or easy each mission and fight is, and making sure that each part of the plot contributes to the overall story and isn't just a mindless fight which isn't connected to anything else.

Sometimes you'll be forced to make decisions, such as deciding whether or not someone is acting within the capabilities of their character or being overpowered, or whether or not an attack by the enemy should realistically injure one of the player characters or not. You may have to decide when to step in and overrule certain actions because they would be disruptive to the thread. An example of that includes if a player attempts to destroy a suburban town with their powers because it would take out the villain at the same time, ruining the reputation of the organization. Or if a player decides to completely ignore hostages and disregard the civilian deaths because it would allow for more action than negotiation would.

How good or bad an arc is also affects the thread. One reason to be careful with who runs parts of the main plot is that if an arc goes poorly, it can really hurt enthusiasm for players to keep going beyond it. In one of the two threads that served as the basis for this one, a poor mission in Hong Kong helped to seal the RP's inactivity, for example. What was once a very active RP lost a lot of momentum from that mission, which I as the OP and the one running it, could have taken a more active role in when it came to keeping it from going as badly as it did.

Long story short, running part of the main plot, even if it's just a mission, is hard. You also have to be around a lot. Don't expect a mission to be done within the week. They tend to last longer than that and you'll have to be active the entire time if you want to keep momentum. You'll have hard choices. It's a lot to ask on a player and that's why I handle most of the main plot myself, with help from the thread staff who will sometimes help run parts of each mission to balance the workload. My point is that setting up a confrontation between the Young Guardians and your custom villain is much, much harder than you think it is. At least when it comes to actually executing it and making sure the mission is a smooth experience.

You can, however, do things outside of the main plot. Side arcs exist for a reason. But to start a side arc, you need to do more than write a single application for a villain or some other character. Here's the correct process to go through.

Step One: Figure out what you want to do.
You can't do anything if you don't know what to do. The first thing you should do is come up with some ideas. You don't need to have an entire arc planned out at the beginning but you should know enough that you can propose an idea to others, including the thread staff. "I would like to apply as a villain who controls darkness and can fight the Young Guardians," is not a good proposal. "I want to run a side arc about a group of bank robbers who are trying to pay off their debt to a villain," or "I want to write about a team of heroes in London solving mysteries while keeping up secret identities" are both good proposals.

Step Two: Ensure you aren't RPing by yourself.
Let's face it. You're going to get bored pretty quickly if you're writing by yourself. Even if you did somehow gain control of a villain in the main plot, you would have nothing to do but RP with yourself as soon as that villain isn't interacting with the Young Guardians anymore. This is perhaps the most important step. If you want to run a subplot, it's absolutely necessary to find other players who want to write it with you. This isn't that hard of a process. You just need to get people interested. It can be as simple as asking something like "Hey guys, I'm thinking of a side arc about robbing banks, does anyone want to make a character on the team of bank robbers?". If you get interest from other players, you'll have people to write your arc with and you won't have to try forcing your way into the main story or writing the entire story by yourself.

Step Three: Finalize the details.
Once you have other players, and this doesn't have to be a lot of players and can even be done with one other person, you're almost done. You just need to finalize the details. You should consult the thread staff for this. For example, you should decide who is playing who. If you're playing a villain and you plan on fighting heroes, you might want to figure out who will play the heroes, if the thread staff will play them, or if someone else will play them, etc. You might want to figure out when the arc takes place ICly, too. The timeline for side arcs doesn't necessarily have to match the timeline in the main story, in most cases. It's also worth seeing if there's any conflicts with the thread staff's plans. For example, you might need to change something if you plan on fighting a character that will be busy with something in the main plot.

Once you complete all of those steps, you can get writing. It's not really that complicated to run your own side arc. As you can see, only three steps are listed here. You just have to go about it in the right format and it will both help the thread and be more enjoyable to you, since you don't have to figure out what to do with your character who you applied for but have no plans with beyond fighting the main characters a few times. If you have further questions, anyone on the thread staff will be happy to assist.

Um, Endem, I don't think it's really been changed. Being human isn't a weakness in an RP where every other character is also human, and you also can't vaguely say that the power stops working sometimes and give no information on what makes it stop working.

Also, trouble with the law doesn't automatically make someone a recruit for the Young Guardians. Especially if the person isn't skilled enough to justify entering the Program despite their arrest.

There's been activity but we're actually pretty early into this, we haven't even gotten out of the "moving into the apartments" phase.

So I went through a few of the apps of other people and I noticed a few of them are armed to the teeth lol. I thought I was joining a Superhero RP not a Supersoldier one this isn't critizism btw

Anyways, given that my characters aren't part of the Young Guardians, I'll probably only use them for subplots for a while. Maybe I can use them as a tool to Uncover the extra plot details of the world a bit.
P.S @ Forest: Shouldn't the Dragonborns be mentioned in the Third Party list or do I need to do something with them IC before they are referenced anywhere?
Ditched my old signature. Will be making a pretty looking one when I find the time.
