It also probably helps that not only will he boarding with a fellow member of the baseball team (Adam) but it also helps that Peter quite likes baseball as well. Granted, it might be a little bit awkward due to the face that one's a Blue Jays fan (Peter), one supports the Mets and Cards (Adam) and I'm not sure which team/s Ryo supports but at least they could all hopefully be united by their mutual dislike of the Yankees*.

I think Baseball and sports in general would be a great initial bond. Honestly, not for drama’s sake, I am struggling to think why Ryo would not be a Yankees fan. He seems an almost perfect match for the Yankees. He is a recent immigrant to New York. The Yankees logo is synonymous with New York and with hip hop which he likes; they are the most successful team in history?? And also is the type of team that has a worldwide TV audience, so he could have followed them back home. Tanaka is there now still in his prime, Ichiro was a success there and they had Irabu and Godzilla. If you were a recent immigrant to New York which team would you support?

He at the least is going to be a casual Yankees fan, even if he tones that down for Peter and Adam.

Also, I'm going to be bringing back the International Club that Recon suggested to me over TG a while back. I've also brought this up in the Discord (and Corri said that Karena would be interested in joining) but I figured I'll mention it here just in case. Either way, if there are any foreign students who'd need a bit of help settling into America (or if there are any homegrown students who are interested in learning more about other cultures), then it might be worth joining in.

Short-bio: Yixuan was born in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen in October 2002. Fortunately he was born in a relatively privileged situation with both his parents joint managing a successful technology company based in the city and with access to major cities such as Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macau. An only child, Yixuan lives at home with his parents and paternal grandparents. With both his parents being Guangdong province natives, his home language growing up was largely Cantonese, however due to the increasing prominence of Mandarin in Shenzhen as well as learning from school, this soon became his language of choice. Eventually he even switched to Mandarin at home as his parents already knew the language from their business dealings. It has come to the stage where he only ever uses Cantonese to communicate with his older relatives. Much of Yixuan’s time has been spent reading extensively on Renaissance Europe, an era he has been fascinated by and has greatly shaped his own personal interests and he has a particular love for painting and artwork. He aspires one day to collect art and to visit the cities of France and Italy to see these works in person. While he has travelled before, most of these visits have been to other Asian countries. Yixuan equally enjoys fashion and design and while he hasn’t fully determined his future university and career goals, this is yet another area of interest to him, although this is not something he has expressed to his industrious minded family. Now in high school, Yixuan was presented with the promising opportunity to enroll as an exchange student in Milford Gautier Academy, a prestigious school thousands of kilometres away in New Jersey, USA.

When it comes to making friends Yixuan likes to find a group of people with whom he can connect to easily with similar interests and personalities. We're standing at the moment because we haven't been told to sit down yet.

But seriously, everyone's pretty much getting ready for the assembly. Some of us are just tying up loose ends, others are having their bits of conversations going until the time skip. Imp gave a more detailed list of what our characters are doing here, although I'm not sure how out of date it is, if at all.

The Gays of Milford-Gaudier continue to increase in number. Yes...yes.....

It also probably helps that not only will he boarding with a fellow member of the baseball team (Adam) but it also helps that Peter quite likes baseball as well. Granted, it might be a little bit awkward due to the face that one's a Blue Jays fan (Peter), one supports the Mets and Cards (Adam) and I'm not sure which team/s Ryo supports but at least they could all hopefully be united by their mutual dislike of the Yankees*.

* Even though my ex-girlfriend that I'm on good terms with likes them.

I think Baseball and sports in general would be a great initial bond. Honestly, not for drama’s sake, I am struggling to think why Ryo would not be a Yankees fan. He seems an almost perfect match for the Yankees. He is a recent immigrant to New York. The Yankees logo is synonymous with New York and with hip hop which he likes; they are the most successful team in history?? And also is the type of team that has a worldwide TV audience, so he could have followed them back home. Tanaka is there now still in his prime, Ichiro was a success there and they had Irabu and Godzilla. If you were a recent immigrant to New York which team would you support?

He at the least is going to be a casual Yankees fan, even if he tones that down for Peter and Adam.

Good point, though in all fairness I should point out that Peter doesn't really hate the Yankees. Sure he's not super keen on them as they're a division rival and maybe a little bit because of the fanbase, but he doesn't outright loathe them as he's more a casual fan of baseball if anything. Either way, I'm sure that there's one team in the MLB that all three dislike.

Also, I'm going to be bringing back the International Club that Recon suggested to me over TG a while back. I've also brought this up in the Discord (and Corri said that Karena would be interested in joining) but I figured I'll mention it here just in case. Either way, if there are any foreign students who'd need a bit of help settling into America (or if there are any homegrown students who are interested in learning more about other cultures), then it might be worth joining in.

Ryo will be of course be interested in that. We seem to have a lot of foreign students here. So there should be a good pool of students if they want to join.

Not to mention the fact that Brian, who pretty much heads the whole thing, is an immigrant himself, having arrived from Northern Ireland around the turn of the millennium. As for my characters? Peter won't go but that's more because he's not a very social person, Veikko would definitely do it in an attempt to grab a girlfriend ("attempt" being the key word here) and I haven't really decided if it would be the sort of thing Erin would be interested in. Either way, since I haven't jumped in at a random point, I'll be more engaged with this and, as a result, actually get the International Club off the ground.
