DRAGON AGE: BLESSED ARE THEY

OOC | IC | DISCORD

"Blessed are they who stand before
The corrupt and the wicked and do not falter.
Blessed are the peacekeepers, the champions of the just."

- Benedictions 4:10

The sky was torn asunder, and with it, the barriers between this world and the Fade, the metaphysical realm that is home to demons and spirits alike. Demons rain from the sky, through the holes in reality that have been formed in the wake of the devastation caused by the destruction of the Divine Conclave. The Chantry, the world's supreme religious authority for centuries, was left leaderless and in turmoil, and the war between Mages and Templars waged on. In response to this turmoil, the controversial decision was made by the hands of the late Divine to reform an ancient order, the Inquisition, seeking to combat the threats set to bring devastation to all of Thedas.

Through the efforts of the individual many have taken to calling The Herald of Andraste, the Breach in the skywas sealed, but the Inquisition's work proved to be far from done - many demons still lingered and, worse, the creator of the Breach revealed himself, an ancient, hated darkspawn titling himself The Elder One. The Inquisition was dealt a heavy blow, but managed to rally at the ancient fortress known as Skyhold. Now officially led by the Herald of Andraste, granted the title of Inquisitor, the Inquisition sends out its many soldiers and agents in an effort to put a stop to this ancient evil once and for all...

OP: Dutch (me!)
Co-ops: None, yet

It's been ages since this board has seen a Dragon Age RP, but they always seemed to do well (and I think I promised one or two people I'd totally make one again in the future, a few years ago now...) - so here we are! This particular roleplay will roughly follow along the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition (ie, the last installment of the series so far), albeit from a rather different perspective; namely that of a group of characters in service to said Inquisition (rather than its leaders, as in the game!) as they go about their missions across the world. The intention is, essentially, to form a typical Dungeons & Dragons-y experience within Thedas, where the RP follows a group of 'adventurers' as they go about their business - for the newly formed Inquisition, in this case.

Some basic knowledge of the Dragon Age setting is definitely recommended, but I (and others) will definitely be more than willing to help people with less knowledge on the setting out! Relevant information will be posted in a post below as well. This thread will be used for planning, OOC-chatter, and discussion related to the roleplay itself. Thread activity is good, so feel free to discuss whatever (within the NS rules, that is) if you're participating!

Rules are an unfortunate necessity, so here they are - these'll be 'enforced' if required by yours truly as well as whoever I may assign as co-ops. Breaking the rules may result in a warning/warnings or being kicked/banned from the Roleplay itself in case of severe rule-breaking or multiple "infractions".

  • Follow the website's rules. This is simple. They go for the entire website - which includes the thread(s) for this RP!
  • Please follow standard roleplay etiquette. Don't godmod, metagame, powergame, and so forth. Please familiarize yourself with these terms and make sure you're not doing any of them!
  • Don't plagiarize. It really shouldn't be said, but - write your own posts, don't take someone else's writing and change it up a little. It shouldn't have to be said, but alas.
  • When writing, do your best to use correct English grammar and spelling. Mistakes happen - many of us aren't native English speakers, after all, and even then! - but do your best to make them as few and as little as possible. It makes posts more enjoyable to read for everyone!
  • Your posts should preferably be at least two paragraphs long.

Other than that, there are also a few rules you should keep in mind when creating your character(s):
  • Player characters shouldn't be related to any important canon characters - minor ones are accepted, but there's more than enough people around so that you don't have to be related to everyone in town. Neat!
  • Player characters should only be of the playable races in the games (although from other cultures is fine!) and should fit in with the overall theme/setting of the RP. A Red Templar or something of the likes wouldn't, for example.
  • Player characters generally shouldn't start out with 'overpowered' equipment.

And finally, below is the application form you can use to create a character, should you wish to join this RP!

LORE / INFO

The world of Thedas

Thedas is the only known continent in the world of Dragon Age, and is presumably positioned on the world's southern hemisphere - the further north one goes, the warmer it appears to get, generally speaking. While there are supposedly other continents, the residents of Thedas are mostly unaware of them: to them, this is as far as the world gets. It is divided between various kingdoms and other assorted nations on the surface, with two Dwarven kingdoms located deep beneath the ground.

The people of Thedas

Various sentient peoples inhabit Thedas, made up of humans, Dwarves, Elves, and Qunari. Humans are the most populous of them all, with the glory of the Elves, once Thedas' dominant race, long faded. Most curious are perhaps the Qunari - a tall, white-haired and metallic-skinned race of, essentially, horned giants.

Got my image and personality in, bio is incoming.

Siona Willun, The Black Raven
Image

Race: Human
Gender/Sex: Female
Class: Mage (Fire Necromancer)
Equipment:
Iron Short Sword
- A steel dagger
- A few lockpicks
- Roughspun pants
- white cotton shirt
- Black silk cloak, with gold trimmings.
- x3 Changes of clothes
- Bronze earring
- x15 Coins
- Fine leather boots. (Now less fine, from all the walking Siona does.)
- Master Ias Alachi's Book of Spells (book)
- The Places Beyond, Studies Of The Wandering Sphere's And The Heavenly Bodies (book)
- The Book Of Shadows (Book)
- Jashe Miskatsonik's Book Of Creatures (Book)
- Bag of salt (for some spells.)
- Rabbits foot.

Skills: Siona is a talented fighter. She is skilled in swordsmanship, but her real talents lie in magic. Siona is an accomplished mage, with a strong knowledge in summoning and destruction magic. Though she is by no means a master, she is closer to it than most her age have ever gotten. As well as this, Siona is quite intelligent, being considered by some to be a prodigy even. She is very well read, and has a thirst for more knowledge, which she is willing to pursue relentlessly.
Weaknesses: Many feel that Siona is very intense, and though she is very intelligent she is often a little to confidant in herself. She see's herself as occupying a moral and intellectual pedestal, and that she is unassailable form her position. This causes her to be very stubborn, unwilling to see the error in her ways if she makes a mistake, and often too confidant in her own abilities, as talented as she may be. Furthermore, her intensity and passion can make her equally hard to work with, as she can drown out any other opinions with her own drive for perfection.
Bio:
RP Sample: One or more. You can also write one for this RP specifically. Link to your RP sample directly.

Personality: Intelligent, calm, cool and collected. Siona is a loner at heart, and tends to keep to herself. Though she keeps to herself, she is however very fond of humanity as a whole, and is strongly against needless cruelty or violence. She holds no ill will to any races, despite her quiet, and withdrawn personality is a kind person at heart, and does what she can to try and make the world a better place.
Likes: Books, plants, quiet, animals
Dislikes: crowded places, cruelty, injustice, children.

Probably should've posted this earlier but uhh... hey!

Natalie Rochette
Image

Race: Human
Gender/Sex: Female
Appearance: As seen, mostly. Natalie is of average height, with slightly tanned skin and black hair. She has far more of a warrior's physique than one would expect of an Orlesian noblewoman, courtesy of her rather peculiar choices in life. Several scars mark her face and body, prompting her to stand out from groups of people - at least when not wearing a mask.
Class: Warrior [Champion]
Equipment:
  • A steel breastplate in the fashion of Orlais' chevaliers
  • Leather riding boots
  • Cloth tunic, pants, etc. to go with the rest of the armor
  • Steel sword
  • Steel dagger
  • A shield, likewise fashioned out of steel
  • Two health potions
  • Casual (but obviously, very fine!) clothing
  • An Orlesian noblewoman's mask
  • 20 Royals, Orlesian golden coins
Skills: A competent soldier, and surprisingly resilient - Natalie's training has clearly pushed her physicality beyond that of what one would expect of the average Orlesian noble. She does not tire easily or quickly, and as such is very competent at 'holding the line', as some would say. Natalie is a highly skilled swordsman courtesy of her training at the Academie, an advanced duelist and skilled rider to boot. She also possesses some leadership qualities and, as a result of her time at the university of Orlais, has some knowledge on various types of paints - who knows when that might prove to be useful!
Weaknesses: Absolutely incapable of magic, shamefully incompetent at archery, and altogether lacking in many survival skills, Natalie definitely isn't someone who would do well having to survive on her own in some wilderness. A noble's life has made her a perhaps somewhat aloof, and certainly quite entitled person, even if unintentionally so, which certainly doesn't do one any favors at times. For an Orlesian, she's rather bad at the grand game, despite the expectations one would have.
Bio: Born the fourth daughter, and sixth child, to a noble lord and lady in Orlais, whose domains presided to the north of Lake Celestine, Natalie Rochette was raised into wealth and nobility, although expectant of a rather unspectacular life. While only of minor nobility, the Rochette family made, and still makes, good money off of its sprawling vineyards and the fine wines they produce, financing the grand estate that Natalie would grow up on. As sixth child and fourth daughter, Natalie certainly didn't have the most spectacular of futures an Orlesian noble might have waiting for them, but nevertheless her parents made sure she was well-educated as a child, the young girl taking to spending a significant amount of her free time reading books of all sorts.

While many young Orlesians in a position such as hers would opt to live the life of a bard for several years, Natalie never was one much good, or (most likely as a result) interested in the Grand Game the nation's nobility plays, and instead had aspirations of one day becoming one of the Chevaliers. Well aware of some of the less favorable deeds of that order, the young woman had the aspirations to put a change into that and to, indeed, act more like the virtuous and heroic individuals that many of her favorite books presented Orlais' Chevaliers as. Alas, considering her nature of being a woman, neither finding an actual tutor willing to teach her, nor entrance to the Academie des Chevaliers were easy to acquire, and instead Natalie was sent off for the University of Orlais in Val Royeux, for a time.

After a full two years of study at the University, focusing on the painted arts and their history, Natalie finally managed to find a place in the Academie des Chevaliers. The Academie's training routines were even more brutal and harsh than she had ever expected them to be, but nevertheless, she had a goal, as well as the full awareness of just how great her shame would be if she were to give up, now. The Orlesian persisted, continuing along the grueling path of the Chevaliers' training regime, honing her mind and body to combat, pain, and the Chevaliers' codes of honour in equal measure.

Unfortunately, well before she could complete her training and become a chevalier proper, Natalie found herself running out of luck as civil war broke out within the Empire - with the chevaliers siding against the Empress Celene Valmont and with the would-be usurper Gaspard de Chalons. With her family remaining staunchly loyal to Celene's rule, she found herself unable to continue her training, and retreated to the family's manor for a year, simply keeping up practice on her own, or together with the estate's guards. With the coming of the Inquisition, however, and the civil war still raging on throughout Orlais, Natalie found a new cause to fight for, at least for the time being, and ventured to Haven, joining the organisation right before its true enemy was revealed to all of Thedas.

Keten Jarul
Image

Race: Qunari
Gender/Sex: Male
Class: Mage - Primal Battlemage
Equipment:
Stave with a blade on the bottom end
One waterskin
Coin purse with 4 gold
Battlemage Mail
2 Lyrium potions
2 health potions
Casual clothes
Cloth-based attire
Leather boots

Skills: Keten is a skilled mage that often uses primal magic alongside his Battlemage magic and is talented at using both. Along with magic, he was trained in close-quarter combat and not afraid to use his staff as a melee weapon. He is good at fighting on the front lines and can hold his own. While only getting an education from mercenaries and a basic understanding of living off the land, Keten can be intelligent and is a quick learner along with being eager to learn more about the world.

Weaknesses: Keten can be stubborn to the point that that, once he has made up his mind about something, is important to him, it is hard to dissuade him. He only had a mercenary education which means he is clueless on many subjects outside of combat and what magical lore he was taught. Keten is not that stealthy due to his size and is not trained to use another weapon other than his stave.

Bio: Keten was born on the road somewhere north of Ferelden. His parents were Tal-Vashoth that managed to escape the Ben-Hassrath and fled as far south as possible. Eventually settling in the capital city of Ferelden, Denerim after six years of traveling. Growing up for Keten was different, to say the least. His father worked as mercenary while his mother stayed home to take care of Keten. His only friends growing up were two city elves, Carcen, and Firana who with three often spent time together. He was more open about learning and adapting to human culture than his parents and was curious to learn about humans and elves. Then when he was eight, the Fifth Blight started and when it came to Denerim a year later. They tried to flee that city during the battle, and in the end, they did but, only when Keten mother sacrificed herself to give them time to escape. They would return after the dust settled and everything they had was gone, including Keten's only friends.

After the fifth Blight, Keten traveled with his father with his mercenary company and showed that he could use magic. His father had his friend and one of the company's mages to teach him on how to use magic. His teacher, a middle age Antivan human mage named Sofia Avonal. She taught him how to protect himself from being possessed by demons and everything else she knew about magic. Becoming a battlemage and loved to get in the thick of battle. Later in life Keten from what he was told about the Qun and the Qunari from his parents. He would come to hate the Qun and in order to establish an identity for himself far from the Qun. Keten to got himself several tattoos on his body and would use a surname. Rather than take a random human surname, Keten created one by combining the names of his parents, Jarok and Ozul into Jarul. When he became an adult, Keten would officially join his father's mercenary company and went along on many jobs for them.

Keten during his time as a mercenary made him rather tired of fighting for gold. Rather he would fight for a cause that believed in. When he heard of the Inquisition and their goals, he thought that was a cause worth fighting for. Keten as soon as he was ready, he ventured out to find them and later joined the Inquisition.

Maëyls Houet
Image

Race: Human
Gender/Sex: Male
Class: Rogue (Assassin)
Equipment:
  • Sylvanwood Longbow
  • Quil of arrows
  • Scout Coat
  • Health potions
  • Lyrium potions
  • Coin purse
  • Flask
Skills: Maëyls has always been a very nimble person, his father used to call him lièvre for this. He grew up snaking through the wilds as a boy and this was a skill he never really forgot. Its served him well through his storied life. He is also a compitent tracker, a skill his father initially taught him so he could hunt game, it has served him well in all of his endeavours. Whether it be tracking a young noble woman through the halls of her grand estate or stalking a boer for food, even hunting apostates in the woods.

Weaknesses: Maëyls is an addict. A minor case of Lyrium addiction has stuck with him since his days at the monestary. While not as crippling as some of his comrades but he still needs it on a consistent basis. On top of lyrium he is also addicted to alcohol and keeps a small flask with him.

Bio: Maëlys was born to Rauol and Jahenna on a small farm north of Lothering. His family came from Orlais during the occupation. His family lived a quiet and mostly happy life. His family would always make the trip to Lothering in order to participate in religious services at the chantry. A deeply devout family. Maëlys grew up speaking both Common and Orlesian. His family was displaced during the fifth blight, they traveled north to Gherlen's Pass where they hoped to travel to the possible safety of Orlais. However the family was targeted by bandits on the road. After the family could pay the demanded “toll” they were assaulted. Young Maëyls ran further down the pass, the fate if his mother and father almost certainly killed in the ordeal.

He eventually made his way to Halamshiral. The young orphan was taken in by the chantry and eventually place into a monastery near Ghislain. It was here he was groomed to become a member of the Templar Order. At the age of 16 he was officially initiated and begane to take in the duties of a templar. His first act was to hunt down an apostate near Val Firmin. Him and his team successfully captured the apostate. This cycle would repeat itself, a mage or two would escape and using overwhelming force the templars would find and deal with them. He was then assigned to hunt down a Maleficarum named Florian Halneau in the depths of the Nahashin Marshes. Maëyls team surrounded the hut in which Florian lived. However upon moving in they were all caught off guard initially by a strong fire spell that engulfed much of that small island he lived on. Upon this the use of blood magic on the templars quickly thinned the ranks. Within the first minutes three of the eight templars were killed. Maëyls would stand to fight but upon seeing Knight-Corporal Cayatte’s blood boil like water in a stew pot he ran away leaving the others to their fate. After hours of running he found a place to sleep. Upon waking up he buried anything he could that could link him back the the templars. He concocted the name of Euron of Redcliffe and made his way to Ferelden, using his near perfect Common Speak to shroud him in this bee identity.

After he made his way to Ferelden he took up multiple occupations. He lived for sometime as a woodmans, and metalworkers, and even completed a fletcher apprenticeship. He however never stayed in one place for long, changing his name and his location was common to try and muddle the tracks he left behind of his old life. During his time in Denerim he was approached by a bard, the two conversed and after a night of drinking Maëyls told the bard of his various name changes and moving. The bard explained much the same story and encouraged him to become a bard. He agreed and travel with his new acquaintance Valry de  Villemoustaussou. He took up the profession very quickly and travel from nobel home to nobel home. It became apparent very quickly that his job was not to simply entertain. He accompanied Valry as he killed a minor Nevarran lord. Maëyls now under the name Tylus Helfham would work as a bard sabotaging and killing. When asked by Valry why didn't leave once the true nature of his profession was revealed he said “It's cowards work, and in my original life I was a coward. So the work matches the man.”

He continued for at this for a few years, however his lack of formal training left him at a disadvantage. A cheaper option for lower work. Maëyls and Valry worked as a team. Maëyls doing storytelling, weaving grand narratives for the nobles to drool over as they projected their greatest fantasies of heroism and gallantry. Valry would play the music and perform the sweetest of songs for the court. However they were captured by an Orlesian noble. During a fight for freedom with the guards of the keep Maëyls would abandon Valry and make way to the bedroom of the lord's daughter Julianna. Unable to move about the halls freely he scaled a small tower that gave access to one of her windows, he used a bow he grabbed off a guard and sent an arrow through her window, striking her abdomen. The violent awakening only did more damage and she bleed out quickly. Maëyls left the palace and made his way back. Finishing a contract but without his partner. The news of civil war in the country caused him to make his way back to Ferelden, adopting the name Myron of Highever. He became known locally as a drunkard. He would stumble around town begging for drink or coin. Some would oblige him and he would use the storytelling skills to craft good relations. His time as a bard also left him practice his bowmanship and he would perform small tricks for the pub patrons.

Once the inquisition was announced Maëyls grew restless. He had no meaning to life and on many occasions had attempted to simple walk into the woods or would jump into the sea in an attempt to end his life. Alll failed and all failed because he would backout. He rationed that he'd either find a purpose in life as part of the inquisition or he would die before he could and thus this was a winning situation no matter the outcome. He changed his name again to Maëyls Hauot, the first time since he left the templar order he had used his birth name.

RP Sample: Sapphire City

Personality: Maëlys is a hard worker and always willing to help. His feels about himself as a templar are muddled with insecurity and doubt. He tries to hide his past lives and past transgression through a thick web of lies. His shame and the need to hide this shame drives his personality.

Just not completely sure what character to make here..

We don't seem to have any Rogue-ish characters yet, if 'things that aren't present in the cast yet' is something that's inspirational to you :p

I haven't played a rogue in any DA game x.x

9/10 of my games I play mage because explosions. Though.. we have like 4 already if you include the WIPs.. may do a warrior..

They are, though I am working on a Templar character for all of our mage friends to have drinking contests with.

Vizu Kanaxai
Image

Race: Human
Gender/Sex: Female
Class: Warrior, Templar
Equipment:
Templar Shield
Inquisition Longsword
Templar Commander Armor
Lyrium Potion x3
Health Potion x2
Belt of Cold Resistance (7% cold resist)
Amulet of Strength (+2 Strength)
Common Cloth Clothing
Leather Boots
Coin Purse with 1 Royal, 52 Crowns, 33 Pennies

Skills: As a Templar, Vizu is naturally talented at combating magic users of all kinds. Her specialized training in this manner has led her to better understand how mages fight and act under pressure, which she has translated well to working alongside mages. She knows how best to support allied mages while shutting down opposing mages. Similarly, being a Templar has given Vizu plenty of time to learn to fight in heavy armor, with sword and shield. She believes she is on par with some of the greatest templar who have ever existed, in potential. In practice she is one of the more gifted sword handlers, but has a long way to go before she can say she was the best ever.

Weaknesses: Like many other templar, Vizu is addicted to Lyrium. Unlike other templar, she has had to go without in the past, with understandably poor results. She now tries to keep one or two Lyrium potions on her person at all times just in case she can't get a good supply wherever she happens to be. Aside from this, she has learned of her terrible aim with both crossbows and traditional bows. She is fortunate to wear heavy armor and be handy with a shield because of this glaring lack of ranged combat ability.

Bio: Born in Orlais near the border regions in the border with Navarra. Her parents were minor nobles of Orlais, though being of Navarran descent they did not wield great power. Vizu was the fourth child, and third daughter of the family and was a good candidate to be given to the Chantry. However, her behavior towards learning the chant itself was less than ideal. She instead chose to join the Templar at a young age. Satisfied with their child's choice, her parents made no further attempts to contact or influence the young girl as another son was born days after she left for the Templar. A few years down the line and a fifteen year old Vizu was able to earn her armor, shield, and sword. She finished the full training of becoming a templar at age 19 and was given Lyrium for the first time. It was shortly after this that she was sent to serve the Order guarding the Circle of Magi in Ostwick.

She finds the work simple and in some cases, very easy. She makes friends with some of the mages and most of the Templar there and in her second year is promoted to a Captain's position commanding one of the levels of the tower entirely. It is during her first months of captaincy that she kills her first mage. A young mage's harrowing went poorly, he began showing signs of possession and she acted just as the demon was over taking him. She plunged her blade into his back and before she pulled the blade out, the demon's transformation was complete. The demon dropped dead on the spot, unable to repair the damage she had done to its host in time. It wasn't anything like she expected. She had to talk with several of her mage friends to feel better about what happened.

It was in her third year at the Circle, aged 22, that everything fell apart. News from Kirkwall arrived, the Chantry had been destroyed. The Circle had been Annulled. And the Knight Commander of the Templar there had been turned to stone. Being the closest garrison of Templar in the region, half of them were sent off to Kirkwall to contain the chaos and await reinforcements. The news spread around the mages in Ostwick that they were next and rumors that trouble in Markham was not helping the situation. Soon the Templar in Ostwick had a choice to make regarding the Mages and a meeting was called with the First Enchanter and several of the more vocal mages. Vizu was young, but technically third in command of the Templar garrison and was at the meeting. Things seemed dire, not only did the mages greatly outnumber the Templar in the tower, but there were more mages wanting to kick the templar out than there were other mages or templar combined.

In the end a compromise was made. Ostwick's mages would be guaranteed safety and the Templar of Ostwick would be much less controlling of them and only heavily oversee the Harrowing as a means of safety to the mages. Three days later, a large group of dissatisfied mages attacked one of the Templar sleeping quarters. In the chaos, the First Enchanter was slain while trying to keep the rebel mages from breaking out into the city. After a week's long siege Vizu found she was cut off from the ground floor by another group of rebel mages and from ascending by the main group. She had also heard rumors that their Knight-Commander had returned to the city and had issued the Right of Annulment on the Circle of Ostwick.

With little time, Vizu and perhaps a dozen other templar disobeyed orders and began actively assisting friendly mages to escape the tower, fighting side by side until they were able to escape. The next few years Vizu and a handful of templar worked with these mages to keep away from the now rebellious Mages as well as overzealous Templar. In 9:41, three years later, Vizu and the survivors joined the Inquisition. They were welcomed with open arms as skilled mages and templar were difficult to find.

Cunoan
Image

Race: Human (Chasind)
Gender/Sex: Female
Appearance: With flowing dark hair and blazing hazel eyes, Cunoan bears a somewhat typical Chasind appearance. Her skin is naturally somewhat pale, coming from the cold south of Ferelden. Her typical attire consists of a Chasind tunic, a light green in color, which falls down to close to knee-level but bears slits on the side up the leg. This goatskin tunic is double-belted in the middle, more properly belted twice over with a single longer belt at the waist. Thigh-high soft-soled dark-brown leather boots cover most of her legs, their height visible thanks to the aforementioned slights, and they lack any 'true' sole in favor of seeming more like a sort of sock. In the traditional fashion of those barbarians, the ground is easily felt through the bottoms of the feet, which aids in scouting, navigation, general grip, and stealth. On her arms are two long, black leather gloves, reaching to about the mid-bicep in length, yet fingerless at the other end. The exception is that the middle finger of each glove stretches forward, covering the finger before cutting off likewise at the last knuckle before the fingernail. Both her boots and her gloves are kept up with crude rawhide string. On her neck is something of a brown leather collar, a few metal studs on the outside face, but really just a piece of barbarian jewelry. Although she more typically goes unpainted these days, in the right circumstances she will don the white and blue paint of her ancestors. Her long, ratty hair is sometimes, but not always, kept tied up in a few layers of bun.
Class: Rogue
Equipment: Clothes, Wilds Bow, Talon-shaped dagger
Skills: Being birthed into the Chasind race, Cunoan's skills are much that of her tribe. The skills basic to hunting, such as keen perception and quiet movements, are only the basics. Deftness and precision are highly valued. In her tribal life, she also grew quite strong, of course. Games of wrestling and warfare, and sometimes outright catching prey by hand, all contributed to the whole. She now has the full skillset of an experienced huntress - be it for prey, or for bounties.
Weaknesses: Cunoan, being a savage of the utmost sort, has little respect or even awareness for the graces and courtesies expected in 'Civil Society'. She's blatantly uncharismatic, smells of meat and leather near constantly, makes little effort to keep herself clean beyond what is purely pragmatic, and does everything in particularly unconventional ways. The only ways she gets any respect is the rare occasion when one might be charmed by her wildness, or much more commonly by way of completing a mercenary contract. Despite being of above-average strength and a competent grappler, her lack of martial training shows, and she has no grace or form when using the heavier weapons of her people - the mauls and greatswords, nor when wearing heavier armors. This is all to say nothing of her magical affinity, to which she is completely unaware if she has any in the slightest; many Chasind do, but prefer traditional warfare regardless. Even if such a bonus were present, it's unlikely she'd make any real use of it.
Bio: Born in the wild, swampy buttcrack of the civilized word, Cunoan lived a fairly typical Chasind life. Hunting, feasting, tracking, selling stock in nearby villages, terrorizing trespassers, it was a pretty decent life. All was fine and dandy in this tribal life, not glamorous but making do consistently. Then, everything changed when the Darkspawn attacked. Only the Grey Wardens, masters of all 3 classes, could stop them; but, when the world needed them most, they vanished. In fear and not a little disgrace, Cunoan's tribe was forced to flee their homelands for the north to escape the oncoming blight. They settled in a village as refugees, to wait the whole situation out. A doomspeaker, a Chasind like themselves, spouted omens of what was to come, each and every day he yelled of impending damnation. It was unnerving.

The march of the Blight was relentless, though, and caught up with them at Lothering. Fleeing the burning remains, the 14-year-old girl would never see her parents again. Putting her skills to use, she evaded chaos until the end of the Blight. Now an orphan, an exile, Cunoan did the only thing she could: she put herself to work. Starting initially as a hunter, or perhaps a poacher, she moved up to being a scout, and then a mercenary and a bounty hunter. There was little that could escape her sight when she set her mind to something.

She's worked various odd jobs since then, all brands of mercenary work. It was simple enough, really. Catch a deer here, catch a man there, smoke out a bandit or two, and look scary outside someone's house. Anything that paid enough at the end of the day, and anything that was too dirty for 'civilized' folk to do, that's what she set her eyes on. Her Chasind skills have been put to good use thus far, and as of recent events she has found a potential contract working with the Inquisition. The gods know how it will go, but such is life.

RP Sample: Hurr durr I dunno?

Theme Song: This is probably an unusual choice
