From the maker of the award winning RP To Kill a God, comes a new story...

Sempiternal
Eternal Legacy

“Eventually, we will come to an impasse with another intelligent species (if we last long enough). Maybe AI, or something else. But either our existence or theirs must come to an end. What gives us the right to make that determination? Why should we be allowed to survive if doing so comes at the cost of the extinction of another species?”
-Alexander Grim

Overview

It happened. Humanity has fallen. Winter encompasses our world.

It has been over eight hundred years since GRIMS tore through the skybox, opening our world to the freezing vacuum of space. Ice covers the globe, frozen wastes spread as far as the eye can see. Survival is all that matters now.

Within the Eternal Valley lies the bones of mankind’s former glory. Aeternum city within its midst, a desolate reminder of better times. Around it stretches the ruins of human towns, skyscrapers, homes. All was lost, and we may never gain it back.

Humanity has moved backwards in many ways. Technology has been lost, and most equipment is merely leftover from the Aeternum years. At this point, they are just making upkeep with the equipment they’ve got, and trying not to lose it.

The world has become more hostile. Radioactive blizzards abound, where even the thickest armor will succumb to it’s assault, frying circuits and destroying mechs. And during the nights, the most dangerous of the robotic lifeforms come out, attacking all in sight. As a result, humanity has dug underground, creating small cities and towns from where they may make forays onto the surface for much needed resources and tech.

There are some who claim there is hope for the remnant. Civilizations will emerge, cities rebuilt, a home reclaimed from the apocalypse. But how will they continue when their survival hangs on the edge of a knife?

Note: Remember that "history is made by the victors", or in our case, "history is made by humans, and humans love propaganda". So any timelines you may infer from the information found here is not necessarily canon. As the story unfolds, you may learn more.

Image

Radioactive Blizzards

Not only does the freezing cold of the Valley kill, but the blizzards are worse. Because of the many melted Nuclear Plants that dotted the landscape, and the constant bombardment from space, radioactivity hangs in the air, whipped up into a snowy frenzy by the harsh winds. Unless you find a safe haven when the blizzards come, it is only a matter of time before you will succumb to it's assault. As of yet, humanity has not found a way to fully shield even their mechs from the storms, although certain hostile robots seem to have found a solution.

Image

Archangels

The greatest of the robotic lifeforms on Earth are the Archangels. They are massive, AI controlled mechs that sometimes can be seen roaming the wastes. They do not tend to outright attack human settlements, and seem to pay little attention to passersby. However, if they are provoked, they will quickly wipe out any opposing force. Perhaps it is best to leave them be.

Rumors abound that these AI were created by GRIMS herself, but little has been found to substantiate this.

See "Mecha Classes" for more information.

"What was lost, we will reclaim.
What has died, we will resurrect.
What will defy us, we will end."
-Prime Minister Jeremy Scold

Claiming to be the direct descendant of Aeternum (the dead mega-corporation that once ruled over the Eternal Valley and much of the world), the Eternal Republic strives to bring back the golden days of technology and progress that it's namesake represented. The gates of its city, Hope, are open to all humans and friendly robots, and all are represented in the Republic’s Parliament.

The government is meant to be a representational democracy, but just as the mega-corporations of old, it has been highly corrupted by the merchants and business factions within itself and is thus run as an oligarchy. There is a surprising amount of inequality between rich and poor, which is quite impressive since there isn't exactly a massive amount of resources to go around.

Hope is the the city of the Eternal Republic. Housing nearly ten thousand people, it is the largest under-city in the known world. It's military boasts two thousand individuals and a couple hundred mechs.

Within the Republic you can find just about anyone you can think of. Scientists to adventurers, Mercenaries to old helper bots, revolutionaries to...not so revolutionaries, they all flock to the Republic. And the one thing that holds this Republic together is hope. Hope that mankind will once again rule the world, hope that the winter will end, hope that what was lost will be regained. Either that or some other form of propaganda that the PR board has cooked up.

"It was then that our Lord came down to us. Her hair flowed in the moonlight, stars across her breast. No beauty compared to her.
She spoke to the Earth, saying, 'Open your heart to me, let your lips drip with praises. Love me, for all blessings shall pour over you, making you whole again.'"
-The Book of Endings

Not so long after the destruction of the skybox, the remnant of humanity founded the Republic. For a short time, it seemed that the people of the Eternal Valley were united against the apocalypse that ensued. But there came a powerful religious sect lead by self-proclaimed Empress Morgana.

According to The Book of Endings (the accepted scriptures of the Empire), Morgana is the daughter of the Elder Goddess of Wisdom, Tyran. It is said that Tyran was the Divine Guardian, having been created by the Eldest gods with the sole purpose of protecting the first humans. For thousands of years, Tyran lead them in righteousness and with ever expanding knowledge. However, Tyran disobeyed the Eldest, rebelling against them and leading humanity to fall from their graces.

Worship of the Eldest disappeared from the Earth then, and mankind lost their way.

To atone for her sin, Tyran birthed Morgana when the time was ripe for humanity to return to the old ways. And long story made a little less lengthy, Morgana led those chosen by Tyran to found a new empire based upon the newly found teachings of the ancients.

Salemnus is their singular under-city (are you seeing a pattern yet?), and contains seven thousand citizens/subjects, three thousand of whom are slaves, a thousand are soldiers, and the rest are citizens or priests. Their military is well armed, and contains five hundred mechs (even more than the Republic).

"Unless you shits got some moonshine or a deer carcass, shut the hell up!"
-Some tribesman...Probably...

The Forgotten Tribe is made up of soldiers that deserted from the Republic and Imperial armies. They live as nomadic criminals, rejected by everyone they fought for, and now struggle to just scrounge up enough food to last through the day.

They operate as a tribe proper. They have a chieftain who acts as commander, a small council of elders, hell, they even have a shaman. Okay, they don't have a shaman, but the rest is true.

In order to survive, they tend to make raids on the Imperial and Republic under-cities and find whatever food they can in the caves that dot the landscape.

The tribe is made of three hundred or so soldiers, each equipped with anti-rad suits and decrepit weaponry. Currently they do not own a single mech.

6. Try to have a decent level of game-world realism. I don't expect perfection, but as I read through what you write, I want it to make sense.
7. Most importantly, don't be a big meany-face. Treat everyone with the same respect that you want them to give you. If you cause too much trouble, you will be banned.

Announcements

For Act 1, all your characters will begin as citizens/personnel of the Eternal Republic.

When you are choosing your Operator Class, work with everyone to try and have at least one of each class between you all. Moreover, I would prefer more scavengers, scientists, and adventurers than soldiers to begin with. Soldiers will be far more important in later Acts.

End goal:
The end goal of this RP is to be sandboxy and run by players. Buuuut in order to help ya'll get a better grasp of the world, we are going to run this first mission, which Mozesh will outline for you.

This mission might last a couple Acts, but after that is done, ya'll get free reign of the world.

So hang on tight, and enjoy the ride!

Energy Tubes

Energy Tubes are your primary method of powering pretty much everything. Large Tubes (which are as big as your torso) are required for powering Mechs and large equipment, small Tubes (as small as your hand) for weapons and personal gadgets. Other than mechs, Energy Tubes are the most important resource that you can scavenge and own.

How do they operate? They probably utilize the souls of dead corporate engineers or something and convert them to energy.

...No? Fine, it's some Quantum Physics thing you (and the scientists you all have) can't understand or replicate. Just know it gives a pretty good amount of energy for their size.

Image

Mechs and their Operators

The most valuable equipment man owns is the mech. Mechs are one of the few vehicles that are capable of traveling on the surface of the Earth and still able to adequately defend itself from the hostile robots that roam the wastes. And since the supply of mechs is very limited, being an operator is quite an honor.

Personal mech suit: Suit barely larger than the average human, giving them increased mobility, strength, and armor. The weakest, and most common mech, merely enhancing the natural abilities of the operator. Typically used by scientists and scavengers.

Priest Class: What one tends to think of when they consider military mecha, this class is around twelve feet (3.6 meters) tall and can pack a powerful punch. Most often used in skirmishes by military personnel, or less armed but quicker versions are used by scavengers.

Prophet Class: The Prophets are the primary assault class. Being around twenty feet (6 meters) tall, a Prophet combines speed with armament, wiping out it's opposition.

Cardinal Class: The Cardinal class is the tankiest and the most powerful mech an ordinary operator will ever pilot. It towers over almost all opposing mechs at a massive fifty feet (15.2 meters) in height, and is the battleship of the field. It's armor is too thick for most armament to pierce, and its payload is enough to nearly take on an entire army.

Vicar Class: As a demi-god among men, the Vicar class is undeniably the most dangerous weapon in any man's arsenal. At an immense 80 feet (24 meters), this demon of a machine cannot be overtaken by any other mech aside from an Angel or Archangel. Currently, this class has not been found. However, it is rumored that Empress Morgana has one tucked away in the bowels of Salemnus, although such claims are...nigh impossible at best.

Angel Class: If the Vicar is a demi-god, the Angel class is like a lesser god in the Pantheon of Mecha. Standing at 110 feet (33 meters), this beast would all but annihilate entire cities and armies. Thankfully (or not), this class is purely theoretical, since not even the Aeternum Archives mention a human-built mech so large.

Archangel Class: The High Gods of Mecha. There is nothing like an Archangel in heaven or on earth. The smallest Archangel stands at 150 feet (46 meters), and the tallest known at 175 feet (53.3 meters), and each have the power of an army or more. It seems that this class was created by GRIMS and her AI, but no one is certain. There is no known method for countering them, and the only reason mankind hasn't been wiped out by them is that they tend to pay them little mind.
Scavenger: Scavenging the abandoned cities and towns is the primary work of the scavengers. Their goal is to gather as much wealth and supplies from the abandoned cities and other factions, scrounging up as much tech and resources as possible. Oftentimes they have very basic military training, just in case they run into some Bots.

Scientist: Instead of trying to gain supplies and wealth for their faction, scientists scavenge for history, old tech, and improvements that were lost. Most scientists are "squishy" types, running from trouble rather than towards it.

Adventurer: Adventurers attempt to roam the entirety of the lost cities. Mapping out the whole is their primary goal, finding every nook, every cranny, every single cave and hole. Nothing is too dangerous to be reached, too far to be found out.

Soldier: When a faction wants to expand, or to maintain the borders they currently hold, they send out their soldiers. Death and destruction is their sole goal, killing off any enemy of the state or religion they come from. No other operator has so much power to fight and kill as they do.
Imperial mechs have been modified to run off oil and gas rather than the relatively rare Energy Tubes that other mechs run on. Since oil is far more plentiful, powering them is simple. However in doing so, they lose much of the power that other mechs have, and also create pollution when used underground.

Weapons and All

Ye Olde Guns. For almost a thousand years now, firearms have remained the weapon of choice for soldiers, civilians, and criminals everywhere. In this era of doom and...lack of resources, these firearms are the cheapest weapons to create and the most commonly found. Moreover, they are the most versatile, and varied weapons. Nevertheless, they are some of the weakest weapons one can use (in a sense), especially against a large mech.

Shotguns, assault rifles, handguns, sniper rifles, there are tons of types to choose from, each with their pros and cons.
Railguns have two, parallel conductive rails, which utilize a magnetic field and electric current which launch projectiles at extremely high speeds. Of all the handheld weapons, these pack the biggest punch, and have the greatest armor piercing potential. However, finding one of these bastards, not to mention repairing and maintaining them, and finding the Small Energy Tubes they run on, is a real biyatch.

Railguns come in various shapes and sizes, however they all fall into two primary categories: that is the sniper railgun, and the assault weapon.
Plasma weapons fire plasma (i.e. extremely hot and excited matter) at targets, causing burns, evaporation, or melting of targets. These weapons are even more rare than Railguns (and have the same issue with being powered by Energy Tubes), and you sure as hell can't buy them on any legal market. They have quite a powerful effect, melting through most armors, and burning holes in the persons inside. However, plasma weapons can sometimes be unstable, and do not have the same range or accuracy as railguns.

Plasma weapons come in just about as many shapes and sizes as conventional firearms. There are handguns, assault rifles, shotguns, sniper rifles, and many more.
Ah, laser weapons. Every good futuristic sci-fi has them. Or so it seems.

These weapons fire highly directed energy toward their targets, causing burns, and/or penetration. They work against many different armors, although there are armors which make lasers completely null. Moreover, they are dead-on accurate, and often utilize very little energy to fire, making it much more energy efficient when it comes to ammunition.

Laser weapons also come in various shapes and forms, just as many as conventional weapons. But they are not nearly as versatile.

From gatling cannons, to mounted rocket launchers, heavy weapons are one of the most varied classes of weapons. If you want to level a building or wipe out a squad of enemies, these are the way to go. Basically a weapon is classified as "heavy" if it is high-powered, or can only be used if mounted on a mech or wall.
Image

Swords, knives, spears...These weapons have been around for pretty much as long as armies have existed. And when Aeternum once ruled the world, these weapons became more and more advanced.

Today, these weapons are just about as viable as in the dawn of mankind. With the fall of Aeternum, these blades have become more important than ever, since they are silent, easy to maintain, often requiring little to no energy to use, and are effective against non-armored opponents.

There is a massive variety of bladed weapons, like swords, knives, spears, throwing blades, and such. And they also can use different styles of blades, such as plasma or more conventional blades, although plasma and laser swords aren't too common.

Surface Locations

Note: More locations will be added with time. However, these are the primary ones you will interact with.

Image

The old...um...Aeternum city. It was once the capital city of Aeternum Corp., and as such contains the largest amounts of resources and lost tech. However, it is by far the most dangerous place to scavenge, since hordes of bots and even a couple Archangels scour the streets, tearing apart any whom they may encounter.

In the very center of the decaying city lies Heaven's Tower, which was constructed by GRIMS and was the site of experiments of unspeakable horror. According to the Empress of The Heavenly Empire, within its bowels lies the key to resurrecting Tyran, and many hundreds have been massacred attempting to retrieve this key.
Image

Industry was the heart of Aeternum, and as such, it created a vast sector devoted solely to it. Amongst the ruins, an industrious scavenger (see what I did there?) will find mech parts (perhaps even a fully functional mech if you're super lucky), guns, Energy Tubes, bot scraps, tools, and even some foodstuffs that are so irradiated that it's probably an idiotic idea to try and eat them. This is the primary scavenging area of all factions, and is a hotspot for fighting, with bots often joining the battle.
Image

Well, this isn't so much a location as it is the place between locations. Sometimes you might come across ruins of a town, or some random barely-standing building, but between the ferocious blizzards, Bots, and scavengers, what you will tend to find is massive swaths of frozen lands, covered in snow and ice.
Image

Far to the north of the Valley lies the great Empty Mountains. Few venture here, for the vast range cannot be tamed, nor can it be easily crossed by even the sturdiest of mechs. The winds forever tear through them, destroying nearly all living things in their path, and tearing apart the craggy mountaintops. According to legends, great beasts lie in their heart, and nameless horrors stalk in silence.

"Beep boop beep. Beepity booper."

"Boop scoop?"

-Of Beeps and Boops, a Robot's Guide to Love and Open Relationships

Bots, robots, clunkers, your secret kink...whatever you call them, Robots are by far the most common and varied enemy you will find in the wasteland. The bots come in all shapes and sizes, from humanoid or animaloid(?) to random scraps of junk bolted together. Their only commonality is that they are all dangerous and want to kill you, most often with old guns or terrible looking claws. That and they don't speak human speak. Ever. Not even sure where the damn quote came from.
Image

"The Gods have abandoned us. Their wrath has spilled over. Not even death can save those lost in the wastes." -Elder Tharien II of the Empire

Death on the Surface is by far the worst fate any human could suffer. Starvation, thirst, radiation poisoning, getting torn limb from limb by bots, swiss-cheesification from Imperial soldiers, touched by an Archangel, however you are killed, you better hope your body is burned to ashes soon afterward. Because no matter how torn apart you are, your body will regrow, and your spirit will continue onward.

Those lost to the Surface transform into the demons of old, an ancient evil only spoken of in the infernal texts that the Empire dredged up from religions long-lost. Disfugured, starving for flesh, screaming for release, the dead are now Creeps. Horns adorn their heads, their jawbones become deformed bony bear traps, their arms extend into fingerless claws. Their flesh morphs into thick, leathery armor, and they bleed thick black sludge.

How and why this transformation occurs is unknown. Republic scientists postulate that this isn't a supernatural phenomenon (unlike what the superstitious Imperials argue), but rather an unexpected result of extreme radiation poisoning.

The only way to properly destroy a Creep is to "BURN IT WITH FIRE!!!" So both Imperials and Republic forces bring either flamethrowers or matches and fuel to burn those suckers to ash.
Image

"The greatest enemy of mankind is not a physical being. It is not a gun or mech, a demon or angel. His greatest enemy is disunity. And the most horrific perpetrators of disunity are the Imperials." -The History of Mankind, Fifth Edition

Imperials. Bah! Even the name of the Imperials causes every good Citizen to spit on the ground and sling curses at them.

The Empire isn't merely another faction. No, it is the enemy of humanity and progress. And you must be on your guard.

Imperials may be superstitious to the core, but they are damn tough and tactical killers. Merciless, rage-filled mass-murderers who won't bat an eyelid at the thought of killing you, your lovers, your children, your family, anyone and anything you have ever loved.

As noted before in the Mech section, Imperials utilize gas-powered mechs and suits, making them a little easier to spot and ambush. But don't be fooled, even if you see them first, that doesn't mean you can kill them so easily.
Image

"The ground shook, screams pierced the air. She ran, and ran. She looked back, eyes wide. Tears rushed, mouth opened in a silent scream."

"Dead." -The Elder Wars, as recounted by Empress Morgana

The cosmos is vast, and especially since so much progress was lost in the Fall of Mankind, most of it is also unknown.

Perhaps this is why the Imperials claim that there are great, powerful Elder Gods who created this vastness. Most of them care little for our survival, but all must be appeased according to their state cult.

Whether or not such gods exist is beyond us. But what we do know is that there are dangerous beasts that prowl the Valley, and not all of them have been documented. So be careful, we don't always know what is out there.

Not gonna spoil everything, I'll let you all figure it out as we go.

But here's the deal. Ya can't get to SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE without first doing somethin' about those damn bots that are protecting the last space-worthy ships. Once your finished with that, you just gotta hop in, get the ships running, and head on up to the abandoned, super-massive space station up there orbiting the planet. And from there, you got access to all you need to begin exploring.

So, wanna help taking out the goddamn bots? Join in now, and we'll kick their asses much faster!

Name: Prince-Baron Julius Lysdahl-of Beringen

Age: 25

Gender, Sex, and Sexuality: Male, male, asexual

Personality: A slightly cocky, slightly arrogant devil-may-care adventurer with the spirit to boot. Julius is two things: obscenely curious, and dangerously adventurous. Ever since he was young he has dreamed of exploring the far reaches of the world, partially for the adventure and excitement of it, but partially because he just wants to be mentioned in the newspapers. His books and stories, always slightly more exciting than the trip itself, do pretty well in the market.

Skills: A good tracker and survivalist with an eye for detail, and a very good writer.

Faction: The Eternal Republic

Operator Class: Adventurer

Mech Class: Priest Class

Equipment and Weapons: Handgun, mech-sized plasma bardiche, lots of rope, firewood, binoculars, pencils and paper, big fur coat, food and water, first aid kit, camera, copies of his own books.

Bio: Julius was born the son of Baroness Lydia Lysdahl-of Beringen and her husband, the baron-consort Charles. Julius was born on the right side of inequality, so even from a young age, he lacked none of the basic necessities others had to vie for. Education, food, entertainment… It was all so easy to come by. This left him, of all things, rather bored. From about his 15th year he went through dozens of phases. At one time he was a con artist, then he was part of a biker gang. Afterwards he went into the speculation business and tried his hands at politics. After that he wanted to be a tinkerer and an inventor, but that also didn’t turn out well.

He was 22 when his father bought him an old, run-down mech. It was once a combat-class, but it had been damaged in a fight and his father had managed to buy it for a relatively small sum, considering it was a mech. It wasn’t the fastest thing, but it would keep one alive on the surface, and it was a good climber. So, after it was patched up somewhat, young Julius took it out for a spin. Before long he was travelling further and further, gone for hours, days, and weeks on end. The things he saw were marvellous, and after a while he found out that he could sell his stories to newspapers if he had the right evidence. So, he began taking photographs, and drawing scenes.

One day, his mech got damaged by a bunch roving bots, and it had to stay in drydock for a while. That was when he took up writing. First for the newspapers, but afterwards he began writing short stories, and at the end of the year he published his very own adventure book, detailing his first few adventures. It wasn’t all entirely true, but it did make for an amazing story, and a good sell. With the money, he managed to get his mech decked out some more, which meant he could make further and more dangerous trips. It wasn’t long before he reached places that others had not reached or mapped yet, and the books about those places sold even better. Julius dreams of scaling the Empty Mountains today, which is something he is very much working towards.

Gooooood question.

When it comes to sciencey shit, most people don't have access to much, since they all require Energy Tubes to run. But scientists and military members have some basic tablets, scanning devices, computers and so on, but powering them can sometimes be an issue.

The bio is a bit piece-meal and subject to more detail, but it'll do for now.

Character App

Image

Name: Cliohna O’Mooney

Age: 19

Gender, Sex, and Sexuality: Female, Female, Bisexual

Personality: Fiery Temper, Quick-witted, Methodical

Skills:
Combat: Basic Gun Training, Skilled Sniper, Knife Combat
Career: Mechanical Engineering (Specializes in Mech tech, otherwise competent in other categories)
Misc: Can out-drink most anybody

Faction: The Republic

Operator Class: Scientist

Mech Class: Personal Mech Suit

Equipment and Weapons: Railgun Sniper Rifle, Conventional SMG (see appearance), Plasma knife (used for both combat and science-y-scavenge-y work), Scanning Device, Tablet Computer

Bio: The O’Mooney family is one of the few Republic lineages to have stood the test of time, amidst radioactive and robotic dangers alike. To be sure, they were not “old money” by any means, if there even was such a thing amidst the universal struggle that almost everyone faced, but it did mean that Cliohna grew up with more family than many - almost all of whom were scientists. It was only natural, then, that she take the same route. The family toys, from scanners to computers, were made available to her throughout her education, preparing her for the horrors that lurked around every corner. That education, combined with her inheritance of her predecessors’ hot tempers, would prove to make her adventures interesting to say the least.

YAAAAAAY!!!! Hey Charm!!!! How's it been? :D

You gonna join, and make an epic character of epicness? ;)

It’s been pretty good! It’s good to see you around again!

I should be able to join. I’m not 100% sure on what character to post yet, though I do have potential theme music for her. And I imagine her having a reputation for being terrifying in battle or something.

Tagging for interest
Vanq commands a quiet respect that carries its own authority. He is the Hitler of NS.

"I took away Vanq's YB for deliberatly ignoring me"
"I know Vanq is a very good writer and this is how he treats someone of lesser skill?"
"I would love to have a writer of your caliber along for the ride"
"neo and vanq do a dbz fusion to form 1 big shitposter then get erased from NS by kyrusia"
"Which is the level of memeing I expect from Vanq"
"brigadier general comes on, pulls a vanq and calls us all autistic"

Name: Daryl Madison

Age: 18

Gender, Sex, and Sexuality: Male, heterosexual

Personality: Daryl is a quiet man that prefers to be alone. He is generally calm and collected, but his temper can occasionally get the better of him. He tries to enjoy life as much as he can and takes a rather laid back approach to most aspects of life.

Skills: Decent survivalist, basic mechanical knowledge, basic first aid skills

Faction: Eternal Republic

Operator Class: Scavenger

Mech Class: Personal Mech Suit

Equipment and Weapons:
Equipment:
    Binoculars
    Canteen
    Compass
    Rope
    Food
    Water
    Multitool
    Weapon cleaning kit

Weapons:
    Revolver
    Scoped rifle (in pic)
    AK-47
    Hunting knife

Bio: Daryl was orphaned at young age and hardly remembers his parents. So, most of his life he has been alone on the streets. He committed petty crimes to get by, stealing food and such to get by. He also scavenged broken items from the garbage and either cannibalized them for parts or repaired and resold them. His life was not a luxurious, but he got by well enough. Eventually, he saved up enough to purchase himself some equipment, including his trusty rifle, and began to adventure out into the world in search for things to scavenge. Daryl scours the landscape for anything useful and sells everything he can't use himself. He eventually found a personal mech suit in the industrial sector which he spent weeks trying to repair and bring to working order. Once he did, Daryl started taking more chances, staying out longer, and was more willing to engage others for the precious resources they were competing for. Scavenging and fighting has made up much of his recent time, and he makes sure he enjoys the little things. The little bottles of alcohol he's able to purchase now and then, the books he sometimes finds or buys that keep him entertained, even the quiet of world when he stops to rest in old buildings above ground. It's not much, but it's what he's got.

He lives in a small, run down apartment in the Republic. It's cold, damp, and probably has mold and insects everywhere. Still, it's home. Above ground, Daryl has created a small hideout to stash some of his gear, stocked it with emergency supplies, and uses it as a fallback in case something ever goes wrong. He's booby trapped and hidden the entrance to the best of his abilities. Daryl spends a decent amount of time there, almost as much as he spends at home underground.
