Political Election Parliamentary Game: Asyaelom [OOC] CLOSED

Welcome to the Kingdom of Asyaelom! A fully functioning, but slightly unstable constitutional monarchy nearing its next election. You are able to take up the opportunity to run for the election and gain the support of the people for your party to gain influence in the Parliament of Asyaelom and possibly even obtain the title of Prime Minister if your party gains enough votes.
The Parliament of Asyaelom consists of the House and the Senate, both extremely vital to the creation, amendment and reviewal of laws for the nation. The Prime Minister is the leader of the party with the most seats in Parliament, and the Leader of the Opposition is the leader of the party with the second most seats. Seats are gained in a “winner takes all” system in which the people of Asyaelom vote for a party in one of the 14 states or territories and the party with the most votes gains all of the seats from the state while Senate seats are gained through the proportion of votes.
However, do not forget that Asyaelom is a Constitutional Monarchy and the head of state is not the Prime Minister but the Monarch (which you cannot play as sadly, for now) which must sign all laws that are passed through the Parliament although the position is otherwise largely ceremonial. It is the job of the Chief Advisor (which you can be appointed as) to either convince or discourage the Monarch to sign the law. Almost all of the time laws passed through Parliament will be signed, however with enough persuasion by the Chief Advisor and if the law was controversial or very tightly passed the Monarch may refuse to sign.
Asyaelom needs new leaders, and YOU can lead the nation into an era of prosperity. Fill up the application form below if you would like to join the game.

There will be a total of FIVE major parties although more parties can join as minor parties if they would like. After we have enough players, we’ll start with the Election which will be explained in further detail when we get there.
I’d like to thank Vienna Eliot for the inspiration of the game, as they had hosted a similar game which was a lot of fun. If you’re playing in this game and had previously played in Vienna’s game, great to see you again! Of course my game most likely wont be as good as Vienna’s however I hope you will still enjoy it (notice anything about the state names, by the way? )
Because this is on the RP area of the Forum, we gotta have some rules (I know, boo. But they’re nothing much)
1. Make sure to follow the story 2. Keep it realistic (treat it as modern-day) 3. Don’t take stuff personally if another player wins over you or their character/party insults yours 4. Be nice. Don’t have to really elaborate here 5. If I (Arkhastok) or anyone else say something in the RP violates a rule, please stop whatever you have been called out for. We’re all trying to have a great time

Made a few changes and edits. IC thread will probably be made so when that happens please use this as an OOC thread for any conversations that mainly use OOC text. Oh and there’s some rules too but it’s largely common sense.

Maximum major parties has been raised to five or else three of the major parties would have been progressive and left-wing which really makes it unfair for the one conservative party. Plus, the fifth party to sign up would be a contender for these left-wing parties as well.

The Libertarian Party is taking over as a major party from the As-Salam Social Party because the As-Salam Social Party hasn't replied to the IC thread. Sorry Tanwirid :/ but you can reclaim the spot in the next election if you do well enough.
Other than that, the next part has been posted in the IC thread which includes some things to do for parties in parliament.

I could take the reigns from the Islamist Party that went inactive?
Sadly I can’t do that since Tanwirid may still want to play (he just hasn’t posted) but feel free to make your own party

Thanks for Julia Gillard OP! I'm really happy with the choice. Do you want me to get some pictures for the other candidates to flesh out the new government?

Ha, was considering Hillary Clinton but Gillard being part of Labor had more red which was better for the RP.
If you want, you could get pictures for the other candidates or important positions your party holds. Completely up to you.
