This appears to me an inconsistency. Is this a colony bonus you started with or a research project you did to increase building count limit?

Because if the latter, I'm definitely taking that tech too as soon as I have a research centre.

Oh no, not research. Just Initiative things. We’re good at pulling the most out of limited areas, because megacity engineering.

So, I haven’t found many signs of Xenos on Melody. Hopefully that insulated the Initiative from the contagion y’all will be catching in time.

Well, I'm not sure. But it might be possible that a contagion destroyed the aliens who lived here first, hence why some of their infrastructure survived relatively intact.

Categorically, a Research Center lets you conduct a Research - which doesn't exactly require points so much as turns of research, depending on its complexity and power.

For instance, I've done a basic research which allows me to build essentially environmental sensors, which collect unique data on different settlement regions - once I get enough of them together they will give a minor research buff, but for now I'm just dropping ~15m on something that will give a bonus in the future. That's a "can be done in one turn" research.

So, starting construction on a freighter next turn. Anyone interested in trading/allowing me to set up a settlement on your world? The Initiative is working on a technology to allow the refining of specialized resources, so establishing a broad commercial base could aid the entire system's prosperity.
