A general run down of your equipment ( as well as anything of note ):
Portugal's equipment is often based on foreign manufacturer's designs however most of the equipment Is made in Portugal,The nation also lacks a very modern tank Force but has a nigh fanatical obsession with keeping its air force up to date, having already begun development of the first Portuguese made jet fighter and with plans for an aircraft carrier under review. All in all Portugal has no different equipment from any other nation on the planet, showing no great innovation but being effective when used right.
Enemies?:Portugal lacks many enemies but if animosity and general dislike can be considered then any fascist or Communist nation, having suffered from both in the last 50 years Portugal is now firmly set on their new, monarchist, path.
Nation's history:The History of Portugal stays more or less the same until 1944,seeing their ally in the British empire so utterly defeated the Prime minister of Portugal Antonio de Oliveira Salazar would begin negotiations with foreign powers to use Portugal as a landing ground for anti-German soldiers. However as this proposal reached the military command it quite quickly became clear to them that they would simply end up as yet another puppet state to the German Reich, one of the many disgruntled and dis-agreeing generals would immediately leak this information to the public and even with the heavy censorship of the State this would reach the socialist and communist revolutionaries that had planned to overtake the Portuguese Government as far back as 1930,the following July a coup d'etat would occur, putting the Portuguese communists in power.
This would be the worst time for such a thing to happen, the collapse of the world economy during the closing years of the war would collapse the national economy, not helped by the sudden influx of nearly 4 million refuges into what looked like the last 'stable' nation in Europe. The Communist government would not last long and with support from the Famous general,Humberto Delgado and many other nationalist and conservative individuals.by 1948 the Monarchy was re-established and elections were run,Delgado would go against know Salazar sympathizer Americo Thomaz and win a landslide election victory for the liberal party of Portugal, establishing himself as prime minister. As the Empires of Europe collapsed Portugal's new administration would take it up to themselves to take whatever they could from it,Annexing Gibraltar,Ceuta and the canaries in what they called 'protection of allied assets' to defend their new possessions the navy would be improved on and the air force would quickly expand. Economic Reforms would soon follow, trying to lessen the impact of the Depression,a later Social campaign would encourage the rich and wealthy to donate to those in need,Industrialization of the mostly agrarian economy of Portugal would also start, hoping to increase the quantity of available jobs as many of the refuges that had fled to Portugal were now living under the care of a government that could not afford to feed, clothe or house them.
Agitations would come to a peak in 1951 where it seemed that Angola and Mozambique, the 2 largest colonies of Portugal would fight for their independence, however most less radical groups would be appeased by the Declaration of Unification in April 23 in which the United kingdom of Portugal,Mozambique and Angola would be declared, giving the 2 colonies increased autonomy. A new constitution would be signed in July 7th 1953 and be received with praise,as of now,Portugal has greatly stabilized it's economy and Political situation, the possibility for Portugal to become a large regional powerhouse increases with each passing day.
