And according to the post he made i'm fairly certain he just reserved the SS Latvian Legion, not Latvia, but once again we could come to an agreement if he contacts me

Nah that's fine - just wanted to ask you.

A general run down of your equipment ( as well as anything of note ): The average soldier is fielded with a mosh posh assortment of equipment from the first world war ( mostly from the former Yugoslav and Austro-Hungarian armories ) such as typical bolt action rifles and pistols - to modern late war weaponry left over from axis soldiers such as assault rifles, armored vehicles, bazookas, etc.

For notable equipment left over, in addition to about a dozen jet planes left over by the Luftwaffe and some nerve gas, three radio frequency weapons were also captured and are in use by the army.

Enemies?: First and foremost Croatia - followed by Germany, Italy, and an unspoken resentment towards the Roman Catholic Church

Nation's history: Though rebellion and revolt had been a common theme throughout Serbia since the occupation had began in 1941, the resistance movement had begun amping up the ferocity and boldness of their attacks beginning in the opening days of 1945, in solidarity with the dozens of other revolts occurring throughout the occupied Slavic world. With fewer troops than ever carrying out the counter-insurgency, partisans and chetniks began dropping hit and run tactics in favor of more bold maneuvers like overwhelming isolated patrol groups and fire bases. The policy of killing 100 civilians for every dead German soldier was quickly dropped by February of that year, in response to undermanned squads being completely mobbed and murdered when attempting to enter a town. With minimal supplies and reinforcements being able to reach the country, Italian and German forces retreated to secure, defensible positions throughout Serbia and Montenegro - allowing for partisan groups to have free range over the countryside. It was believed by most commanders, at the time, that they would be able to hold out in their defensive strongholds until reinforcements could arrive and would assist in retaking the countryside.

As months passed and the occupying forces continued to desperately defend their defenses from the wrath of vengeful partisans, the notion of reinforcement and supply was shattered when Italy withdrew itself from the Axis and the war effort entirely ( in response to Germany's unapproved atomic bombing of Sicily ). Suddenly, Italian and German forces now found themselves forbidden to cooperate with each other by their respective military commands, even further isolating the remaining pockets of Axis defense. With mounting casualties mounting in the millions continued to rake the Axis across the world, the notion of reinforcing the German defense pockets ( and even the Italian defenders ) become an impossibility. By January of 1947, the last defensive pocket was cleared of German soldiers outside of Novi Sad. The capture of these strong points were the culmination of months of siege and close range combat. For the axis defenders, they knew that there would be no mercy for the prisoners, forcing most to fight to the death. For those few who had managed to be captured, the partisan retribution for months of battle and years of occupation would be brutal: torture, execution, and even rape were common atrocities placed upon those few unlikely prisoners.

With the axis driven from Montenegro, Serbia, and Macedonia, debate began fermenting among the various rebel groups as to their next course of action. Two questions in particular divided the rebel groups: Who should lead the new government, and what of the fate of the rest of Yugoslavia? Throughout the occupation, the rebel groups had largely been separate into two camps: Chetniks ( monarchist loyalists ), led by Draža Mihailović, and Partisans ( communist revolutionaries ), led by Joseph Broz Tito. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, the partisan's had slowly begun to recede further from the dissident scene, what with lacking support from their foreign backer. They still maintained a sizable power base in the highlands of Montenegro, however, and led the siege of several Italian hold outs. Fighting between these groups had been a constant struggle prior to the general Slav uprising of 1945, during which each side had agreed to cooperate against the German and Italian occupiers. Now that the Germans and Italians had effectively been driven out of the country, fighting between the two groups started up once again. Though the Partisans were outnumbered by the Chetniks, the fighting was largely stagnate, with little progress made on either side. By March of 1947, to many commanders on both sides, it was clear that in the current state of conflict that no victory could be had for either side without out decisive action. Mihailovic believed that, were he able to defeat the Croats to the north ( a collaborationist state which had assisted the axis in the occupation of Yugoslavia ) and reunite them into Serbia, that popular support would decisively swing towards the Chetniks, allowing them the strength, morale, and manpower they would need in order to finally declare themselves the legitimate leaders of Serbia.

Diverting a force of some 16,000 men from Serbia northward, he would lead an offensive all along the Serbian-Croat border, seizing numerous villages and valleys. It would only be a week into the campaign however before Mihailovic found his forces on the retreat from an Ustase counter offensive. Mhailovic's offensive had been hastily planned and, overall, poorly executed. When the well trained and disciplined Croat military arrived and engaged with his rebels, they were quickly outmatched across the entire front and forced to retreat back to Serbia. Thousands would be killed in the route, including Mihailovic himself.

Within less than two weeks, the Chetnik's had lost thousands of soldiers and their leader. In the midst of their chaos, now was the partisan's time to strike. Out from the highlands of Montenegro, the Partisans caught the disheveled of guard and would proceed to massacre them. For days on end, battle after battle, the Chetniks would be pushed back ever further into the interior of sacred Serbia by a numerically smaller foe. In a miraculous turn of events, fortune would smile upon the Chetniks at the battle of Smederevo. In a city less than 40 miles away from Belgrade, the remnants of the remaining Chetniks forces had assembled for a final desperate defense before the Partisans seized Belgrade. Thousands had died on the retreat northward, and including numerous high ranking officers of the movement. The exact leader of the Chetnik defense would remain unclear until Zivko Dusan had stepped forward to assume leadership. Having only previously been the rank of captain with the Chetniks, he was chosen out of desperation for a leader, and for fear for what ever reprisals the Partisans would wreak upon such a commander. While the Partisans rested and prepared before their assault of the city, Dusan had his newly found army frantically preparing: fox holes were dug, trenches excavated, barbed wire was laid, land mines were placed, artillery was entrenched, and a bold ( risky even ) plan for victory was drawn up.

After three days of preparation, the Partisan forces finally began their attack on the city. They were met with immediate success having managed to break through the first line of defenses in only a few hours and managing to storm the outer portions of the city. In their stupor of momentum, thousands began rushing in past the defenses into the outer city - it was then that Dusan sprung his trap. It was only a few minutes later that artillery and mortar shells began raining down upon the Partisans who had made it into the city. While hugging to the ground, machine guns had been moved into pre-established holes in collapsed buildings. When the barrage stopped, the Partisans jumped up from the ground, only to cut down by the hidden machine gun nests. At such a close range, the Partisans were unable to use their own artillery without killing their own troops, so their infantry was forced to push up at a gruelingly slow and bloody pace. After a day and hundreds of lives lost, the partisans had destroyed the machine gun nests, finally allowing them to move forward, into the city. It would only be a few meters forward though, did they discover a new threat. While they had been pre-occupied with the machine guns yesterday, land mines and other ieds had been set up only a few meters ahead of them. With dozens more casualties and another day lost, the Partisans were able to move forward once again. Only a few hundred meters further however, did they finally find the second line of Chetnik defense. A huge trenchline dug right through the center of the entire cityscape, surrounded by barbed wire and barricades, forcing the unprepared Partisans into funnels of death. After only two days of fighting at the line, the demoralized Partisans had lost nearly two thousand men, and were forced to retreat from the city. Their route was, however, not an easy one, for upon arrival back to their camp, the unthinkable happened: the Chetniks counter attacked. Thousands more Partisans would be killed in the counter attack, resulting in a tremendous victory for the Chetniks, and their new commander, Zivko Dusan!

For the next year, Dusan ( now officially the supreme commander of Chetnik forces ) would drive the Partisans out of Serbia, and even out of their bases in the Montenegro. Joseph Broz Tito would be captured in January of 1949, and executed as a traitor in June. In January of 1949, Dusan would declare the Kingdom of Serbia and independent nation once again, establishing the monarchy of Karađorđević dynasty once again as the leader of the Kingdom. There was a problem though. Following Peter II's execution by the Germans in 1945, there were no known members of the royal family still alive. Dusan, now ruling as regent, declared that, if it the year were to reach 1956, and still no member of the royal family could be found, Serbia would become a republic.

With Dusan and his cadre now firmly in charge of the Chetnik movement and Serbia as a whole, he began to reshape the country in his own radical image.

Enemies?: Will have to wait and see for what nations will be apped for, but assumedly non-democratic states in general, Japan, Germany, Italy. Any aggressor states in the Western hemisphere will most likely be regarded as enemies.

Nation's history: The American liberation of Europe, assisted by allies from the free nations of the world, had been halted on the beaches of Sicily, as the 1st, 3rd and 45th infantry divisions were wiped out by the German use of a nuclear bomb at Gela. The immediate death of nearly 20,000 soldiers forced the invaders into a state of retreat back to Africa, well-prepared by General Dwight D. Eisenhower, but marked the beginning of the end of U.S. participation in the war in Europe, and the war overall. Continued naval battles in the Pacific and island hopping campaigns with limited success proceeded but it became clear that Japan did not have the resources to wage this type of war, especially as it was also fighting nearly all over Asia. The United States also revealed itself to have a limit to which it could replace its fallen naval vessels, air planes, tanks and rifles as the exhausted war industries left little room for consumer products in an austere society craving improved living conditions in this extended wartime period, and the loss of men led to a decrease in volontary military recruits. Unlike most warring powers at this point, the United States was still a functioning democracy, and the discontent with the pointlessness with the world war and squandering of government resources saw the incumbent President, Harry Truman, who'd served out Roosevelt's fourth term, to lose the election to Robert Taft, the Republican Senator promising to bring the boys in the military home and an end to the war, finally.

In his inaugural speech, Taft promised a new era of peace, recovery and ensuing prosperity. With a new Conservative-Coalition advocating a foreign policy of non-interference and national security through neutrality in non-American affairs, the United States repeated history and went into a state of isolation. While many of the New-Deal programs and wartime measures would be disbanded, Taft recognized that whatever peace he would enter into would be volatile, and so the U.S. military would only be partially demobilized. After his inauguration in January 1949, Taft ordered Pentagon to bring back the last troops from Northern Africa. The last large-scale bombing raid against Japan occurred in March of 1949, and beginning during in April, the United States evacuated all forces to pre-war held islands or the U.S. mainland from Oceanic battlegrounds. An armistice was formalized with Japan in July of 1949, and a formal peace with Italy had been concluded earlier. A state of non-conflict with any proclaimant to a German state was declared by Congress by the end of that same year. Despite being left as the foremost military and economic power on the planet as the nations of Europe and Asia clashed with each other, or within themselves, the U.S. role in world policy came to be restricted to free-trade with nations at peace. The Bruce Doctrine, of Taft's Secretary of State, has been marked by U.S. non-intervention in the affairs of Europe, Africa and Asia, uncompromising defense of U.S. territory and waters, nuclear proliferation, a continuation of wartime espionage with the establishment of the CIA and diplomatic support to stable states to establish trade relations.

Less than a year after reelection, President Robert Taft died of pancreatic cancer and the Presidency was passed onto his Vice President, Everett Dirksen. Having been wiser than Roosevelt in his decision to keep his Vice President informed, engaged and involved with the affairs of state, domestic and foreign alike, Dirksen has grown used to the demands of the Presidency and enters his second year in office in 1955. Having just lost both chambers of congress in the 1954 midterm elections to the Democratic party, it seems that the dismantlement of more New-Deal programs might end and that more moderate U.S. domestic policies may come to be.

Technically, the UBSR (Union of Balkan Socialist Republics) backed a Communist revolution in Turkey, winning Constantinople and Western Turkey, but perhaps the Eastern part remained independent and the Osmanoglu neo-Ottoman regime took over there, and Turkey is still being fought over. Could be an ongoing war in other words, with the frontier perhaps being at Ankara?

Would you be amenable to that? Would definitely make things more interesting.

Technically, the Revolution began in 1950, with the assassination of President Inonu and the Communist takeover of Istanbul by Husnu. This would be followed by the Helleno-Bulgarian Socialist Republic recognizing Husnu as leader of Turkey. In 1952, Husnu having successfully secured Eastern Thrace and Western Anatolia will have proclaimed Union with the Helleno-Bulgarian Socialist Republic, to form the UBSR. During this time, the Osmanoglu family perhaps returned from exile and took control.

Nation's history: Shortly before the war's end, Austria declared independence from Nazi Germany, along with Czechoslovakia. Austria, on its part, restored the monarchy, with Otto von Habsburg, the heir to the throne, returning from exile in America.
However, since Czechoslovakia, Austria, and Hungary were all either Axis Powers or part of Nazi Germany at the time of the war, they were recognized as illegitamate by the Allied powers. Hoping to at least somewhat restore the Austro-Hungarian Empire, King Otto convened the leaders of Hungary, Austria and Czechoslovakia. By the time these meetings were over, the three nations had decided to join together and form the Danubian Confederation. The three states would have a lot of autonomy, but there would be one common Parliament and a lot of cooperation especially in the department of rebuilding.
Many Allies were swayed by this, and recognized the Confederation. However, some refused, and attempted to partition them. As a show of force, the Danubian Confederation pushed south into Slovenia, which was in a huge civil war. The Slovenians, who were mostly German and wanted a restoration of order, for the most part welcomed the invaders, and later voted 75% in favor of the invaders. Finally, in 1952, the Confederation was universally recognized.
Since then, the Confederation has remained mostly neutral in world affairs, hoping to build peaceful relations with their neighbors in Europe. The rebuilding has gone very well, and many believe that without the Confederation it wouldn't have happened.

How did you wrestle control of Austria and Bohemia from the Germans? They may have been scattered and in a state of civil war - but your proposed nation was ( at least half ) already incorporated into the so called, homeland, of Greater Germania. They had plenty of troops near by ( Bohemia actually being a SS stronghold in real life ). I mean, I really doubt that the Germans would just allow these territories to succeed.

What is more, why would Hungary join you?

Going down to the regional level the various counties of the commonwealth are run by a member of the new British aristocracy operating in a neo feudalist system however this aristocracy chafe under the restrictions and laws put in place by the prime minister and his government.

Finally as for the matter of citizenship, it comes hand in hand with the Thelemic faith if one wishes to gain citizenship they must convert to the Thelemic faith and prove their devoutness to the faith by performing 4 years of national service, either in the military or within the national reconstruction administration. Citizenship itself comes with a number of boons which include the ability to vote, the right to get married and ability to access the commonwealth's social welfare programs.

It was under these conditions where the Thelemic faith flourished, originally developed by Alastair Cowley in Egypt based around the idea that each Human has one true unseen will which shall determine their path in life, this idea was manipulated by both resistance groups and the occupying Germans, to the resistance groups the idea of a true will meant that it was up for every man to determine there own destiny in life , to the occupying German forces the true will was something that could be determined by the government and allow everyone their own assigned place within society. A combination of people loosing faith in Christianity after the occupation, the pressure from both government and resistance forces and the preaching of Alastair Cowley lead to a huge spread of the faith throughout southern England and by 1945 various influential members of the faith congregated in the first Aeon convention to decide on the matter of how the faith ought to be managed and on the more obscure parts of the doctrine.

By 1946 the faith had established itself as a majority religion throughout the South of England particularly along the Southern coast, Alastair Cowley had set up a number of temples across the occupied areas and a dedicated priesthood had been formed, by 1946 a good deal of the occupation zone had collapsed into anarchy leading to the Thelemic church being the only source of order in these areas. When the year 1947 dawned the German Reich had begun tearing itself to pieces and the occupation zone's leadership were equally divided various parts of the zone had begun breaking off with general's forming their own cliques and resistance groups forming their own independent states. It was the perfect scenario for the Thelemic church to step in and re-establish order across the isles, plan's were about to be put in motion when the unimaginable happened, Alastair Cowley died. The death had been completely natural yet that still didn't stop vicious accusations between the various factions of the church and by late 1947 the Thelemic church just like the occupation zone had collapsed. Across the various towns, counties and cities of the a new order had arisen, individuals who had a modicum of military, economic or social control quickly used it dominate their local community often ruling as despots. These people be they former German officers, charismatic landowners, or religious zealots became known across the south as barons, this was the first step taken in re-establishing the feudal order.

One baron of particular importance is Micheal Garrret, the self proclaimed governor of Portsmouth. Out of the cities of England Portsmouth was probably the one that fared best through the occupation and war, although initially the city had faced the devastation expected of foreign invasion after the city was quickly developed as a hub for German activity as the city's ports were quickly repaired so that vast amount of German weapons and soldiers could be imported from the continent and over time it was made into a major supply hub for the entire British campaign, it was also one of the largest hives of British resistance groups and for as many supplies that were sent from the city towards the front at least a quarter of them were smuggled to the resistance. Michael Garret was an influential businessman with ties to practically every faction within the city with ambitions beyond his station, when the occupation broke down so did the social order within the city with the German forces gunning down citizens on the street and the resistance embarked on an all out war against the German occupiers, the citizenry simply hunkered down and waited for the bloodshed to end. Both sides ground the other down in a pointless battle to the point where both side had every intention to make peace yet no one could swallow their pride and make the first offer, Michael Garret a man who had made a hefty profit from selling supplies to both factions saw an opportunity both factions were lukewarm towards him and he was influential enough to respected by them so he stepped forth and offered to mediate a peace treaty. The talks ended with the establishment of a united Portsmouth city state with Garret, who had managed to garner the support of the local thelemic sect, weaselling his way to the top of the pecking order. Garret forever ambitious was not satisfied with merely owning Portsmouth, he was remarkably long sighted for a baron and knew that there were many factions out there that would cut England up and enslave her people and there was only one man allowed to do that: Garret.

Using the weapons left over from the last weapons shipments from the continent, Garret began preparing an army, interestingly Garret did not design his army with practicality in mind but rather that it would have a massive intimidation factor. Garret believed that the baron's power bases were so unstable that he could simply wave a big stick and say ' I'll preserve your power but you work for me now'. By 1949 Garret's army set forth to a surprisingly large amount of success and by the end of the year Wessex had been secured and the first states of the Commonwealth had been incorporated, Garret had managed to the favour of many barons by granting them significant privileges and giving them a huge part in the new Commonwealth government in the Baron's house yet Garret still found difficulty in swaying the British people to his cause of a more aristocratic reunification, the solution presented itself once more in the form of the Thelemic church. During the Baron years the Thelemic faith had slowly managed to piece itself back together under the leadership of a former SS officer known as Konrad Adler proclaiming himself to be the protégée of Alastair Cowely himself, the Thelemic church was still widely respected and revered throughout the South and if Garret could gain it's support it would almost guarantee the stability of his new state. Garret gained that support but at a huge cost, Adler had demanded that church would receive a role in government and that Adler himself was to become the head of state albeit at a ceremonial role. Garret spent the next few years developing the Commonwealth's military into a true fighting force and wrenching power back from the Thelemic church. By 1952 Garret had brought both Cornwall and Kent into the commonwealth and had set up the national reconstruction authority to bring their industry into line with Wessex. Now the Commonwealth stands ready to bring their faith to all corners of Britannia and to protect all Britons from foreign influence. Never again shall we be slaves!

They declared independence when Germany was already losing the war to the Allies/starting the civil war. Also, Hungary was a member of the Axis, and therefore was also in threat of being annexed by the Allies, and besides, they wanted to team up with Austria to help rebuild.

Again though - how did you gain independence. Yes, Germany was in a state of civil war, but they still had huge armies in and around Austria/Bohemia, how did you deal with these hostile forces? What is more, where did you find the support for this independence movement? I could understand Bohemia, as they were unwillingly annexed by the Germans and were ill treated, but the Austrians had joined of their own volition and had significant portions involved in the Nazi party and the military.

And after atomic bombing of Sicily in 1946, there was no threat of an allied invasion in Europe ( literally none ) - why would Hungary, a friendly axis nation under absolutely no threat of invasion, and directly bordering Germany ( which in turn makes the idea of turning against the Axis all the more suicidal ) just say f-it and not only pull out of the Axis - but surrender their own sovereignty to this new alliance? Same for Slovakia.

If the Germans were in a civil war, most of the German armies would probably be moved to Germany. At the same time, Austria was devastated during the war when it was under German command.

I'm not sure if this is right, but my impression is that Germany is collapsing into itself, and WWII still caused a bunch of devastation to Continental Europe. Hungary would probably want to side with Austria more than Germany at this point, since Austria was a better bet for helping to rebuild. And if Austria succeeded, Hungary would no longer be directly bordering Germany.

Czechoslovakia succeeded as a whole nation. There were many people who wanted to restore Czechoslovakia after the war (they reunited after WWII in OTL), so I'd say that they'd probably still be there, especially for the purpose of reconstruction.

... Again, Austria was considered a part of German. It wasn't some separate state inside of German - it was like what Tennessee is to America. And Bohemia was a province directly administered by, not only the German government, but also an SS stronghold.

Here is a mapto show you just how directly tied to the German heartland these two places are.

Germany is collapsing in on itself - and these two places are considered Germany. The SS and Wehrmacht are fighting over Prague and Vienna, as much as they are Berlin and Munich. And the devastation of strategic bombing campaigns which happened in the Third Reich in real life, never happen in this timeline. Austria is depleted of many men - but so is the rest of the world. Hungary, siding with a yet non-existent country over the largest and most technologically advance military power in the world ( who also just so happens to be their neighbor ) would be an awful idea. What is more, IRL, when Hungary attempted to actually pull out of the war in 1944, Germany actually did invade them and installed a puppet government.

The two nations reunited under Soviet pressure - not a popular demand. There would be no reason why the Slovaks would want to reunite with the Czechs. What is more, neither the Czechs or the Slovaks would wish to live under the Habsburgs again - seeing as how they completely revolted against the house during the Great War.

Im sorry, but your nation isn't realistic.

This is also applied to government: "Worker's Councils" are each responsible for their "Polis", that is to say their city, and managing the local affairs. There are stringent term limits and high turnover in the Workjer's Councils, so as to prevent technocracy and power-perpetuation. Up above it all, is the People's Sovereign Committee which handles Military, Diplomatic and Security affairs. the system is very flexible because of its generally decentralized nature, but very unstable as well, as the regime has to balance the different needs and interests of the different ethnicities and religious groups. Local authorities are given considerable autonomy, except in matters of military, security and diplomacy; for those, the Sovereign Committee reigns supreme. While local religious and cultural expressions are allowed by the authorities, any and all separatist sentiments are crushed by the incredibly ruthless and capable State Security Force (trained by and comprised of ex-KGB and ex-NKDV forces).

Enemies?: Fascists

Nation's history:
in early 1945, with the Reich's hold on Greece weakening, EAM, the Communist arm of the Greek resistance, and most powerful of the partisan groups in Greece began the final push against the collaborationist Fascist regime of Ioannis Rallis (ruled: 1943 - 1946). Rallis' sole accomplishment had been to crush ELAS, the Right wing resistance group in late 1944 - early 1945. However, the cost both in blood and treasure, for the Rallis regime had been quite high, and with Berlin's attention turned elsewhere and Yugoslav partisans destabilizing the region to the north, things did not look good for Fascism in Greece. In March 1945, most of Makedonia, Thrace and Thessaly were in EAM hands. By July, Thessalonik, the capital of northern Greece had fallen, and Aris Velouhiotis, the leader of EAM proclaimed the Hellenic Socialist Republic. This lot a powder keg. All of the Peloponnesus burned with the fire of Revolution, and one after another, Patras, Sparta, Kalamata, and Corinth all rose up and defeated Rallis' Security Battalions. In September, Rallis fled to Crete and fortified Iraklion, bringing the last of the German garrison there too, to fortify the city. In October, Velouhiotis entered Athens without a fight, and he was named Premier. At this point, many of the islands joined in too. By January of 1946, only Crete remained in Axis hands, with Rallis holed up in Iraklion, with his German battalion.

It was at that point that the unexpected happened. The Bulgarians invaded from the north, seizing Xanthi, in January, and forcing Velouhiotis to turn his attention from the assault on Crete. Velouhiotis marched north into Makedonia, and began to engage the Bulgarians in Thrace, in the Summer. By Autumn, the Greeks had forced the Bulgarians back into their own country and driven them from Thrace. Velouhiotis was thus delayed in taking Crete.

In 1947, with the Reich falling into civil war, the German garrison wished to return home to their own country. They arranged with Velouhiotis for safe passage to Germany in return for handing over Rallies. This was agreed, the Germans handed Ioannis Rallis over to the partisans in Athens, and Velouhiotis sent the German garrison on its way, even asking Tito to let them pass safely through Yugoslavia. As for Rallis, he was hung in Syntagma Square, before a jeering crowd. In Spring 1947, Cyprus joined the Hellenic Socialist Republic.

The humiliating loss against the Greeks the previous year, and the civil war in the Reich, destabilized the pro-Axis regime in Bulgaria. In Summer 1947, protests broke out in Sofia calling for the King's abdication. The authorities quashed the protesters, and what started as mild calls for reform, quickly became calls for Revolution. Leading the charge was Communist leader Boris Yanukov, who had been jailed by the King's thugs for criticizing the 1946 invasion of Greece. His comrades broke him out of prison in Varna, on Christmas Day, and Yanukov proclaimed the People's Republic of Bulgaria. He earned instant recognition from Velouhiotis, who in January 1948, invaded Bulgaria to support Yanukov. The people of Bulgaria embraced Yanukov, and come April, the King and his family fled Sofia, and went into exile in neighboring Romania. In June, the Bulgarian Politburo voted to unify with Greece, forming the Helleno-Bulgarian Socialist Republic. In September, Communists in Albania had successfully expelled the last of the Italian occupiers, but fearing reprisals, they too joined the Helleno-Bulgarian Socialist Republic.

In 1949, Communist uprisings began to heat up in Turkey. President Inonu, fearing the fate of other Balkan nations declared martial law and called in the army to crush protests. In early 1950, however, Inonu was assassinated, and the Communists seized control of Edirne and Istanbul. In Autumn 1951, Husnu, the Turkish Communist leader asked the HBSR and Yugoslavia for assistance. He was not disappointed. While the government in Ankara was still in chaos, Communist forces landed at Izmir (Smyrna) and Antalya. All of Western Turkey, west of the Halys River was liberated. In 1952, the Turkish Politburo voted to join itself to the HBSR, and so the Union of Balkan Socialist Republics was declared. In 1954, Communist forces advanced on Ankara, besieging its outskirts. The battle was inconclusive, and the siege ongoing.

Hmm can't hand away the entirety of Scotland but perhaps some of the islands surrounding it such as the Orkneys would be acceptable?

So I have a few ideas bouncing around in my head.

The first one is Italy rebuilding from the war. Mussolini is gone and has been replaced by a military junta that is dealing with a communist insurgency in northern Italy. While most of southern Italy had been ravaged by the war, much of Italy's industry in the north had remained intact. In addition, much of her navy remains intact as well, including two partially built aircraft carriers. Post-war Italy is not intent on empire building and is primarily dealing with its own insurgency, it nonetheless possesses an active interest in regional Mediterranean politics.

The second one is an independent, nationalist Korea that rose up in open rebellion against its Japanese occupiers in 1945 and was significantly aided by the Japanese withdrawal from mainland Asia. A new provisional government was formed in 1949 and took control of the country. As it was relatively unscathed by the war in China, the Koreans now have industries and a well developed transportation and communications network from which to govern and develop.

The third is a now-independent Empire of Manchukuo/China with Puyi as head of state. The intention is to reform the old Chinese empire and take over the remainder of China and independent Mongolia but it lacks the capabilities to do so. It is in a similar state to Korea but has suffered from being dragged into the mainland Chinese conflict.

The fourth is Argentina, who were largely sympathetic to the Axis during WW2 and annexed the Falklands after the British capitulation. With several outstanding territorial disputes with its neighbours and now one of the richest countries in the world, Argentina is looking to not only settle old scores, but to establish itself as a regional power in South America.

I can't decide which one to app for so let me know which ideas you like.

I like all your ideas, but as the USA player I'm naturally biased towards the idea of a warmongering Argentina rattling the sabre in South America. This would be a significant challenge for the isolationist United States as it looks to uphold the Monroe doctrine and ensure peace and stability in the Western Hemisphere but having the domestic opposition to a move towards military intervention at this point.
