Got it. Just being able to use light doesn't mean you have mastered air.

Feeling things out, trying to establish Tripetta's limits. So, let me know if I go too far.

So, I'm waiting for Con to make an app, and then I think we're good to start. It's still open, though, so don't be afraid to apply.

I have written up bios for four NPCs currently. I'll add more as the characters become relevant.

I was wondering too. I mentioned a volley from crossbows in my app, on the assumption that there aren't, but that really was just a guess.

And therefore truly, Sir, I think it's clear that every man that is to live under a Government ought first by his own consent to put himself under that Government. Given that your character was on Dinica, I’d say crossbows are an accurate representation of the technology there since it is a barbaric land. The OP does mention Altomura using steam to power vehicles and other machinery, but also notes that they are far ahead of the rest of the worlds in all aspects of technology. It seems likely that guns exist, but not outside Altomura, and that even within the kingdom they aren’t common.

Right, but the folks with the crossbows were Altomuran colonists, hence my curiosity.

My apologies, I misread the direction that the crossbow volley was coming from in your app.

But how though, do you need to be some sort of skilled mage to merge the incompatible? I mean, for all this world’s history, we only made three 5th-class, and only two of them are mixed, the other is... Hyperwood or something. In that case, does lightning on lightning make atomic magic?

The characters know three elements.

Would it be correct to imagine the might be only starting to learn their 4th element? For her degree, Tripetta needs Fire.

Since fifth class elements violate known laws of magic theory (per the OP), I’d assume you need to be an extremely skilled and well-trained wage to use them, a mixture of natural talent and rigorous training/study.

Hmm, let's say no. Weapons technology is less advanced than most other forms of technology as the use of magic has made such things unnecessary. There's no need to discover guns when you can throw fireballs around.

The enanti-elements are the most difficult to learn, and very few people ever do. So yes, you need a lot of skill.

So far as anyone knows, only the proto-elements can be combined.

Not quite. You all just finished learning your third. The fourth is still a ways off. You're not going to hit a major level up right after starting the RP.

Learning the enanti-elements does require some "creative" thinking. ;)

There are still siege weapons. A flaming ballista is still pretty useful.

Altomura has a few steamboats in its navy, but that's about the extent of the technology right now.

So no airships? Alright, the only flight possible is probably just hot air balloons or something.

And gliders with aerokinesis, though, those are very short range vessels due to the power source limitations.

How long does an animatheurgy spell last on a big object? Would having a ship's turbines be powered by advanced animatheurgy instead of steam be feasible?

Animation only lasts as long as you concentrate on it, and skill level determines how many objects you can simultaneously control as well as how large of objects you can control.
