Backstory: The Ambrosius lineage is an old and noble bloodline that descends from powerful mages, and throughout many generations it has produced many more that would etch themselves into the histories of nations far and wide. Its roots lie firmly entrenched in Liechenveld, and as the country gradually fell into an economic crisis, so did the House of Ambrosius lose much of its wealth and influence.
Nowadays, the Ambrosius name holds little sway beyond Liechenveld, except as a pedigree. Elune wasn't treated as an exception. Born as a "pure-bred" within the Ambrosius estate in the vast pine woods to the south, her future was bid on countless times by faceless, wealthy men who sought to produce a talented heir of their own.
Elune lived a sheltered childhood, confined to her family's estate, which she spent exploring the pine forests and learning the magical arts from her father. To others it may sounds like a dull life for a child, but Elune was never a traditional child. Eager to live up to her family name, she enjoyed spending time between two piles of old books, saturating her mind in knowledge she struggled to grasp. Despite many setbacks, the embers of ambition resisted, awakening flame that would endure throughout her entire life. The tiny flame she fostered during her childhood at the Ambrosius estate would come to define her very being during the years to come.
As she approached her fifteenth birthday, the atmosphere within the family estate had turned gloomy. Elune was blissfully unaware, but when a carriage arrived at their doorstep one fateful morning she discovered why. Her own family had arranged a marriage for her, and the time had come for her to move beyond the pine woods of Liechenveld, to the estate of her betrothed. Resisting wouldn't have helped, and it would have been unsightly, so quietly Elune entered the carriage as her attendants brought her belongings and stowed them away. All of them looked at her with pity in their eyes. She would never forget how they looked at her - how helpless it made her feel. A heavy weight settled on her shoulders that would never abate, continuously whispering into her mind, reminding her that her future was not her own to decide.
During that long trip, Elune had plenty to think about. Each mile further away from her home felt like a thousand, stretching and tearing the bonds that tied her to her childhood home. Once she arrived at her new home, she had shed enough tears. She was determined to forge her own path rather than walk the one paved for her with whatever kind of intentions.
From that day onward she lived in the Von Ronsenburg estate, within the kingdom of Altomura, but her daily activities changed little. Eager to foster her abilities, her new family encouraged her to hone herself. The Von Ronsenburgs were also a noteworthy bloodline of mages, and it wasn't unusual for them to arrange a marriage with another family with a strong lineage. Elune didn't care much for it, but she understood. To some families, a pure and powerful bloodline was more precious than anything, but she didn't intend to serve as breeding stock for either their or her own family.
Though her relationship with her betrothed - Reddas Von Ronsenburg - grew closer over the years, Elune still remained resolute. She continued to reject the future laid out for her, to the frustration of her family-in-law. Despite this rebellious behavior, she was eventually allowed to Sir Whifflebottom's Academy in exchange for her pledge to marry Reddas and fulfill her duties to her husbands and both their bloodlines. This pledge, sealed with the magics of a skilled mage, visibly engraved itself on her body in the form of strange markings - foreign to anyone unfamiliar with Saprotheurgy - around her wrists, ankles and neck, as well as an intricate pattern on her belly.
Accepted.
