Trying to raise state revenue in New Jersey through a gas and cigarette tax is the worst. Don't tax the working people who are keeping this state running, you need to tax the 1% and all of their luxury goodies.

Aw, poor Comrade Joh is a big fat liar. Turns out you CAN afford a working shower head when you rake in 130k from taxpayers every year, but you just wanted to swipe a little extra from your peoples pockets

Regressive taxes are never the way. Increasing taxes on the rich is a far better way to accumulate state revenue without having to pick on the little guy. I suggest the state Democrats and Republicans listen to my advice, otherwise you will all come crashing down.

Taking the rich is still regressive when there's the ultra rich to tax my insufficiently woke friend. You need a tax code that takes money from Warren Buffet and Warren Buffet alone. Don't worry, he asked for it

Make no mistake that the Republican win in Connecticut tonight comes completely from the selfishness greed and egotism of Sadan Singh. He was the Republican party's best friend in all of this and thanks to him Amaras, Kramer, and Winslow have another vote to continue their regressive agenda

If Singh had done the honorable thing and accepted his loss in the primary then we would be seeing a Democrat who would fight against the worst parts of the right winning today, but because he childishly took his toys and went to be Walton's lackey a Republican so conservative the VP wouldn't endorse him won with only 37%

New Jersey State House, Trenton, New Jersey

The press conferences had already been rote months ago, and had not changed from that point. This one was all the more so, her stepping forward to speak and by spoken to, once again, on yet another failure, the reworked RLSA bill and budget, already two degrees beyond what she would have considered acceptable as a compromise, once again being shot down by an intransigent General Assembly, who it seemed had made their primary objective the destruction of her career rather than any actual action on behalf of the state.

The repetitiveness had one advantage-no need for writing new speeches. Melissa stepped up to the same platform to deliver the same words as before, barely amended.

"Yesterday, as you know, a critical bill to stabilize benefit programs for New Jerseyans and pass a state budget was voted down in the General Assembly."

She took a slightly wheezing breath.

"This is another example of the rampant obstructionism that has been plaguing this state for these last years. There are many in the legislature who are doing nothing for this state except blocking legislation that it needs. This bill was bipartisan and passed the Democratic Senate, and it is needed. There was no excuse for the General Assembly to vote it down."

She refilled her lungs at the pause.

"Reforming the system is necessary for New Jersey to continue making its needed payments and remaining functional, and it is crucial for creating a stable environment for citizens and for businesses in this state. This is not the time for delay."

"We have run out of time to pass a bill fixing the issues. We now face a shutdown because of this rampant obstructionism that rejects every reasonable compromise. I call on the legislature and the General Assembly in particular to stop their obstructionism and let us work for New Jersey."

She leaned slightly on the lectern as she finished, giving a sigh that was almost more bored than wearied, tired of doing the same thing one more time.

"Go ahead and ask your questions."
