Small Parties Meeting moves ahead despite Legilstaure being out of session

The small parties meeting is going to go ahead despite the legislature being out of session, although it is firmly believed that governor Aleravez will call a special session to decide the issue before any special or local elections in 2017. So far, we know that Anita Flores of the Liberty Party and Martin Taylor of the ALP will be attending with other representatives rumoured to be attending. Ellen Walton will not be sending a representative from the Progressive Party, the reason is still unknown. Many have speculated that it is because she simply doesn't have any interest in the event. Others have said that it seems to lump the Progressives in with the `small parties` many of whom have not won any seats, except for a notable few. When asked about the absence of the Progressives Governor Aleravez didn't have much to say except that he feels the absence of the Progressives could have been avoided. Saying in a statement:

-"It is regretful that the Progressives will not attend this meeting, I hope that this will not hinder any future efforts of multilateral and soon to be multi-partisan actions".

Before the meeting the New Mexico Governor's office and independent pollsters conducted polls to see the publics approval of changing the voting system and if so what to. According to the Governor's office as much as 60% of the state is in favour of such a change, according to independent sources the percentage is as high as 56%.The most popular method is still not clear cut with Alternate Voting having 23% and 21%, Instant Runoff Voting with 20% and 18%, Single transferable vote with 16% and 14% and Proportional voting with 14% and 12%. It is going to be interesting to see what comes out of the meeting and what the state legislature chooses in the coming weeks.

"I am not an expert on it but the Party is not very strong in Hawaii. I had support from the state party but I still needed to get aid from former Majority Leader Carter to help fund my campaign. I think we should build stronger party infrastructure to improve our chances in 2022 since we will not be so lucky with weak opponents and dropping out of the race like last year. The Republicans here in California have more structure and money so cooperation and more spending for Hawaii would be helpful." McGareth says.

"You probably know better than me if I am well known in California or not." McGareth says.

"However now that Senator Gonzalez and Senator Mills lost their elections I am the only Republican Senator on the Pacific Coast unless you count Alaska and that is probably worth something." He adds.

"But funding is something I do not have for you. I do not have many political donor contacts and I am not independently wealthy." He finishes.
