Ransom gave another nod. "No opposition on the VA either. There is some reform that could be done, agreed. I'd like to see us giving our veterans more power to choose where they get their healthcare, but that is something for another time. Healthcare is in a mess in general and our priority needs to be scrapping ACA." He reaffirmed.

”Correct. And this really needs to be a bi-no-tripartisan effort. We need to get to moderate Republicans, Democrats, and Progressives to show that there is an appetite for this, a movement towards acceptance. ‘Snatching’ a Progressive would really strengthen us.”

Torres lifted his glass slightly, as if to take a sip, but placed it down. Two was enough.

“Overall, we’re in agreement here, I think.”

"I doubt any of them would be willing to do anything politically courageous. They've really been nothing but a self promoting club since they started. We'll be stronger if we can find more support within our own parties and bring more to agree."

”I suppose so. I can especially see the more genuinely libertarian wing of my party subscribing to such an idea. Governor Stephens of Montana for example, I believe is quite socially liberal. I’m not too sure about the Democratic Party however. You would know better.”

As Florence awoke to the familiar beeping noise coming from her apple watch, she decided to stay in bed for just a few seconds more. Things were looking good, for all she cared she was the Representative-Elect. She knew thinking like that could be incredibly dangerous, but as long as the only two in the race were herself and Flores and she was able to keep the title from going to her head, she didn't see much of the harm in.

Getting out of bed she headed into the bathroom. Opening her cabinet she reached for the pregnancy test, and proceeded to pee on the stick. She anxiously tapped her foot on the tile floor while she sat and waited. When only one line showed up she let out a noise somewhere between a sigh and a groan. Throwing the stick into the trash she continued on with her normal morning business, washing the face, brushing the teeth, etc, etc.

Walking out of the bathroom and back into the master bedroom, she was ready to head out for her morning run only to be stopped by her husband, Chris, who was probably still half asleep based on how groggy his voice was "No baby?"

"No baby." She confirmed with a monotone, if not slightly annoyed, voice. She didn't stop for the two of them to have a conversation, but Chris spoke up again to stop her in her tracks, "Hey, what time are you gonna be home tonight?"

"9:30 at the earliest, midnight at the latest. Why?"

"I don't know, maybe wanted to watch a movie."

"I'll let you know when I'm free then."

"Ok," he said with a slight hint of defeatism, "Have fun on your run, love you."

"Love you too."

It was warmer in the city than where he was coming from, but the Spokane night was cool enough that Hammitch had chosen to stay with the moderately faded jacket and hat that he had always been fond of when off-duty or in the brush, not putting on any special airs for the meeting, even as he took it seriously. He was not a man too much invested in point-by-point planning, but had gone over some of the questions he planned to ask ahead of time, and done some reading up on the man that he was meeting to prepare himself for a talk that did not carry an overabundance of risk, but felt important regardless, felt like an assessment of whether or not he was still in the political 'flow' at all, or if he would be singly pulling himself back up again.

He was not especially interested in the city, never was interested in any city, really, and so his afternoon flight was cutting time a bit short, but the taxi ride had been both relatively short and a manageable cost, letting him arrive a few minutes early to the nighttime meet. A look at the building from across the street led to a slight frown, as he could not tell whether or not it was open or not at first glance, but after giving the driver a fair tip, he exited and crossed to take a closer look at where he was to find the Senator.

Spokane, the city that Brankers called home. It was not an impressive city by any metric, save for the large number of fond memories that Brankers had of the place. It was still a city of moderate size and influence, nowhere close to Seattle to be sure, but the Lillac City is the de facto capital of Eastern Washington. Fortunately the Spokane to Brankers is just large enough to have that city vibe to it, while being small enough to retain small town charm. But regardless of its faults Brankers still loved the city dearly, and would not trade living in it for any other city.

In truth Brankers had no idea why in the world the Colonel of the Alaskan State Troopers wanted to meet him. But he was not somebody who could say no, he always had a problem knowing when to refuse someone i their requests. During the night he did a quick meet and greet with his constituents, so he was dressed in standard smart casual dress. Sporting a dress shirt underneath his blazer, a pair of jeans, and an old pair of leather dress shoes. Remembering that the Colonel decided to meet him at 10 PM, he decided to buy 2 coffees from the shop, one for himself and the other for the Colonel.

Peeking through the window to see the Senator, Hammitch opened and stepped through the door, keeping his hat on, and putting on an amenable demeanor in the quiet shop. He appraoched the Senator, offering a weathered hand to shake. "Good evening Senator, thanks for giving me some of your time."

"Thanks for coming at this hour, sorry I could not arrange an earlier time. I know you must be tired so this is a little pick me up on me." Brankers greeted the man, proceeded to take his hand, and handing him a medium cup of black coffee.

Augustus Sinclair was sitting in his office, as he had been all day and the day prior. Budget negotiations with both the Democrats and his own Republican leadership in the state legislature was going nowhere. The budget had massive new projected pitfalls thanks to the carbon tax and the recession, which was hitting the impoverished Mountain State especially hard. There was no consensus. There was no agreement. Sinclair was not a great mediator or consensus builder, causing the state government to come grinding to a hault. According to West Virginia law, the state legislature and by extension the governor are hamstrung by any lack of a balanced budget.

So, Sinclair was consigned to writing executive orders in his office. He had already produced one that had proven popular with his base, and another on immigration was coming. His base was still with him, but the state's surprisingly large Democratic Bloc had soured on him, as expected. Cal Reed's sinking popularity in the state proved to buoy him, however.

Executive action could only go so far. It proved to barely be action at all. And as a man of action, Sinclair craved more than his office could provide. There would be a move to make, and that was in part related to the day's key visitor.

As Sinclair polished off his wife's fried chicken, his secretary let Senator Kramer into the office without warning.

Hammitch shook the Senator's hand, and accepted the drink. He wasn't of a mind that caffeine would be good for his system at this hour and his age, but he would partake regardless out of politeness to his host.

"I appreciate the thought, Senator," he thanked. "There any sugar around by any chance?"

"Hmm," Eric quietly enunciated, taking in Anderson's words. "What are you planning on doing with Ramalan, then. I'd been wondering if your being quiet had something to it. Of course, I can't say that it's bad strategy when you're out that much more than he is."

"I don't plan on being dismissive of anyone, I will always run a race like im 2 points behind. That being said my team and I agree that the distance between us is substantial... in large part due to name recognition. The worst thing I could do is give his campaign oxygen, start attacking him aggressively and have people google him. Additionally I had gotten a significant number of endorsements and support from important local figures and a large portion of the national party... from various factions. Essentially I have boxed him out."

"But should that strategy require changing... I have never been the kind of guy to attack his opponents, I'd rather prove why I am the right guy for the job instead of why the other guy is the wrong one. His biggest weakness is his utter lack of a record.... literally no legislation or accomplishments. Not to mention he lacks any kind of plan, he is not aproven conservative, is not qualified and has no plans or original ideas."

"I have also encouraged his team to explore a Senate run instead, and offered to help him do that. But he has rejected the offer."

Things were staying pretty chill for the moment, so Flores was checking out her phone after getting an alert and skimming the email from Aleravez. He was actually going through with it and it was a golden opportunity that she wasn't going to let pass by. There was no time like the present since things were so slow, so she dialed up the number to set up the meeting.
