Sydney scanned the crowd. The older and middle-aged among them were nodding their heads in agreement, as expected. But while the younger ones also showed agreement, she got the sense that while they supported her in principle, they may not yet support her in practice.
She had been out of politics for nearly 20 years. It would be foolish to neglect these younger voters, especially when she wanted to reach out to them during the campaign.
That would not do at all, to possibly lose to a write-in nobody or a Libertarian candidate.
“If you wish, I would like to take some questions from the younger members.”
She remained on stage, electing to answer their queries.
"Why you?" says a young woman in the back "What makes you the best standard-bearer for conservatism? What makes you unique?"
