I guess we should finish that meeting

There is no need for six threads for a single roleplay. You can conduct your roleplay in 3 or less, currently active, utilized threads, or they can be moved to Forum Seven. Extraneous threads, excluding one OOC, one IC, and one archive, have been locked.

Uhh.... Pro, any direction as to continuing the RP with less threads?

So tomorrow is when I'm going to be gone from NationStates for a while. I'm mostly likely going to return on the 21th. Depends on what happens.

With respect, in previous interactions with moderators, it was recommended that we not create any additional threads beyond those we already maintained. When player requests were made to separate the Congress thread into a Senate and House thread, RP leadership cited this as the reason for not separating the two, as we have sought to stand by that recommendation. Reviewing the OOC can confirm this.

This roleplay has now been in operation for, starting next month, a full three years. During that time, there was no issue with our operating multiple threads, which have been clearly successful, with well over three hundred pages of roleplay in the Congressional and Special Events threads, and more than eighty in the White House. Any of those threads, independently, would seem to exceed the average roleplay in its totality.

Given that no issue has been raised with the number of threads in operation before this point, I would like to formally request that we be allowed to continue to operate as we have for the last three years.

We will, of course, abide by whatever moderator ruling is ultimately made. Given that each has exceeded three hundred pages of activity, I would request that, if we cannot continue to operate as we have, that at least the IC, OOC, Special Events and Congressional threads can be left in operation, with the White House and Archive threads, the latter already largely defunct, closed in order to comply with your request.

If it is preferred that this matter be handled through the official Appeals process, I can move and reformat this appeal as requested.

Thank you for your time.

“The Congress thread of the Washington RP is absolutely essential for the basic conduct of our roleplay. The nature of Congressional debates requires that a separate thread be used to avoid cluttering the IC. I ask in the name of decency for you to unlock at least the Congress thread. If you still want to stick to three threads, lock the character archive and give us back the Congress thread.”
This is the telegram I sent to him. We need to have the Congress thread.
I may be paranoid, but if he starts deleting our nations, my email address is coakcon@outlook.com.

Regarding recent events it seems that we may not be the only RP that are being affected by it.

Announcement

An official appeal has been filed with moderation.

This is obviously a surprise to all of us, and a difficult time. I understand that many of you are frustrated at this seeming to come out of the blue, but I would urge calm as the situation is sorted out. The matter of multiple threads for a roleplay is currently under discussion in moderation, and I have requested that, until a conclusion is reached, our threads be reopened, so we can continue as we have.

I am optimistic about the outcome. We will, on this coming Fourth, have been in operation for three strong years on this roleplay model, without incident, and I believe that some arrangement will be come to that will allow us to continue. This may take time, but if there are any updates, I will post them.

For the present, we are, by necessity, in a suspension of sorts. The IC thread remains open, as does this one, but we obviously will be unable to proceed with the CBG, Stevenson confirmation, or White House events with the threads locked. For the moment, this is a manageable hindrance. Should it appear that no resolution will be shortly reached, I will look into contingencies. At the moment, I will not assume that we will be forced to reorient the roleplay, but should that come to pass, we will manage it as best we can.

I do not have a concluding sentence of any great worth here, and all of this is somewhat awkward to write regardless, this was not something that I believe any of us expected to happen, or that there was any warning of. I will do my best to work us through it.

For the moment, at least, Washington is back online.

The matter of thread limits is still under discussion, and this may not be permanent, the threads may be re-locked in the future, or things may change in another direction. Regardless, we are operational again, and all threads have been unlocked. A thanks to Kyrusia for considering the appeal.

Feel free to start breaking legs on the roleplay stage again.

Back to roleplay business.

The Stevenson confirmation hearing can be held as soon as Sanabel is ready, in the Congress thread. This will be an exemption from the recess, for the moment, legislation is still on hold.

Unless there is further desire to continue pre-game conversations on the field, the CBG will begin once the current matter is sorted out, with some additional time to let all involved wrap things up. I had originally planned to write out the progression post today, obviously, circumstances changed, which may lead to a slight delay. Given that some time is needed to finish things there regardless, this should not be a major issue.

I'm sorry to hear that your threads have been hit as well. I hope the discussion we've all prompted leads to some better revisions in the rules. Or at the very least, the continuation of our respective threads.

Wow, it seems like I have missed quite a bit.

I can’t remember the number of threads that we have ever being a problem, strange that it has become one now.

Excellent. It is your choice whether you would prefer to continue their meeting at the White House, or go directly into the hearing.

If it is the latter, then feel free to have Alphonsey give the go-ahead on the motion to proceed to the hearing, and we will begin. If the former, post whenever you like in the White House thread.

In the latter case, we will still make one or two posts to wrap up that meeting, but that can be done concurrently and is a lower priority.
