Of course, I’m rusty on my 2000’s Latin American leaders.

But to be honest, have Calderon and Uribe ever been seen in the same room together?

What Senate seats are there that will be up for election and currently lack an incumbent or have a retiring incumbent? I plan on making a Democrat to run for Senate but need to have a think on what state they shall be running in.

I believe Florida's up. It'd be fun to run against a player.

While Florida does have an incumbent, that incumbent is an incumbent elected in something of a fluke election, and the race, while with the added complication of that additional contender, will likely not be as difficult as one with a partisan incumbent. Given that we already have one candidate for that election, I would recommend the state with either a Democrat or a Progressive, per your preference.

Who is the Florida incumbent for reference?

Also just having a look at the map - is California still in need of a Dem senator?

Zipporah Hazelelponi. Her wiki page can be found here, which should have most of the pertinent information, and I can answer any additional questions.

Biography: (Minimum 2-3 paragraphs)

Sophie is the youngest of 6 siblings and the first to be born in a hospital and not on the family farm. She grew up outside Blackville, South Carolina to Ruth Mainley and Duncan Mainley. Her father was from Mississippi and was a bastard and only son of a white father and a black mother, he was ostracized and after the death of his parents moved to South Carolina. His light skin enabled him to pass as white and settle down to start farming, converting from his family’s Catholic roots to Baptist. He would meet Ruth, who was Jewish, a short time later and marry her quickly starting a family. Sophie would be the youngest born in 1967.

The family was poor and while Sophie was exceptionally bright she was forced to go to poor public schools, though her mother would often privately tutor her and her siblings in the evenings. In order to help pay for college she would join the South Carolina National Guard serving as a member of the South Carolina C Company 1-151st Aviation in a non-combat role.

Graduating high school in 1985 she took a number of jobs in Charleston in order to save up money for college. Eventually she would meet Robert McLeod, who owned a small but expanding hardware store, they would marry in 1991. With the money saved, a loan and a scholarship she would attend Furman University graduating with a BA in 1995, 2nd in her class. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina school of law in 1997, and the following year she and a number of friends from college founded a small practice in Charleston. She would specialize in business law with an emphasis on small businesses like her husband’s. Sophie and Robert would have 2 children in this time.

In July of 2003 it was announced her national guard unit would be activated and deployed to Kosovo. She was stationed there in a non combat role until February of 2004, and then would return to private practice. She would become more and more involved in local politics until running for state senate in 2008, being elected to represent Charleston’s 42nd district. She would become known as a major advocate for education and criminal justice reform while remaining moderate on gun control.

In 2014 she would run for mayor of Charleston winning by a slim margin. She set out to become the “education mayor” reforming schools, increasing teacher pay and improving the quality of education in the city. Additionally she worked hard to fight the effects of pollution and protect against climate change which had been left unaddressed for many years famously saying “Charleston is on the front lines of the war against climate change”, frequently criticizing the state government for inaction. She has had limited and slow success investing in community businesses, with people being satisfied with the progress but less than enthusiastic. Finally she put a heavy focus on city maintenance, fixing potholes and broken windows.

She remained unable to combat homelessness and hunger in the city. Traffic issues grew effectively unchecked despite Sophie’s best efforts. In 2016 she would give the democratic response to the Republican Governor’s State of the State address and was considered a rising star in the party. She relies heavily on advisors and staff for the technical aspects of her job, while she focuses on remaining a central figure and figurehead for the city to rally around, using rhetoric and hands on engagement to remain popular. She classifies herself as a progressive and and frequently clashes with republicans at the state and local level often to the detriment of her city, especially when she tried to expand abortion services to under-served areas. She also gained national attention when she removed confederate monuments from public places and placed them in museums.

She claims her endorsement of Carrollton helped her win the state though its a “what came first” situation, Sophie endorsed before major polling came out and she might have just correctly predicted who SC would support.

Sophie is considering running for higher office, preferably governor.

With the addition of UCCs character Florida has gone from the 4th most underrepresented to the 8th. The most under-represented states are now...

Indiana .14 characters per million
Texas .2 character per million
Kentucky .2 character per million
Alabama .2 character per million
Oklahoma .25 character per million

We’ve had many characters from Texas.

Can I just create another character in lieu of Taylor? He'll still be ALP (So I'll have a far-left and a far-right character), but he'll represent much less of my views than actual Taylor.

He'll still be far-left, but this time of the tankie variety as opposed to the libertarian socialist variety.

Nah. He's very similar to the Progressive Democrats in terms of social issues and authoritarianism.
