I think it would, little has changed in that front. But I’m not sure how that will affect this RP that much

I do wonder if fake news and disinformation is a big problem in this RP, it’s thinking about IRL issues. I’m not sure that it is as big a problem as IRL, especially considering Reed is president, but it could be.

That, and also key events like Wikileaks’ Clinton emails kerfuffle + the subsequent Pizzagate and associated theories like Qanon not being a thing. It’s certainly more minor in this RP’s universe.

There was an instance of doctored audio being used in a (false) sexual assault allegation against a Senator earlier in the roleplay, perhaps leading to some skepticism in that general area, but in the broader strokes you seem to be referring to, the roleplay would not seem to be at the same level as real-life.

And there’s something oddly quaint about that. The US in this world is a sort of self-contain madness. Granted, the vents of this RP are ridiculous enough to not necessitate manipulation of the truth.

I'll get Taylor's speech in on Friday.

Yeah, Friday is a bit ridiculous. Granted we are basically pushed since the main event is waiting on one speaker before the actual March can take place.

He'll just talk during the middle of the march, as many do. Set up a platform and begin talking.

Is that sarcasm or...? I've been so used to getting slagged off thanks to Martin Taylor's IC stupidity that I can't fix without metagaming.

Current budget calculations

So in 2016 the US government in RP brought in $2,000,000,000,000. They spent $2,500,000,000,000. So thats a spending deficit of $500 billion.

CALCULATION= -$500 billion

Carbon tax is set at $80 per ton, the carbon annually produced by the US is roughly 5,000 million metric tons. That means an income of $400 billion from the carbon tax.

CALCULATION= -$100 billion

2 executive funds are currently active, to fight ISIS and to build infrastructure. Together costing $500 billion.

CALCULATION= -$600 billion

Deficit Reduction is 10% of expenditure, which puts it at $170 billion.

CALCULATION= -$770 billion

The RLSA gives the Payroll tax to the states, which is revenue of $875 billion a year the federal gov loses.

CALCULATION= -$1.645 trillion

Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid cost $1.938 trillion a year which the federal government no longer has to pay for. So we take that out of the deficit.

CALCULATION= $500 billion

All told their is a budget surplus of $293 billion without cutting a single thing

Somehow Torres and and Lee have BA’s in Law, despite not being a thing, the closest equivalent, the LLB, being discontinued in the 70s. How did that get through? They wouldn’t be able to practice law.

Also 3 of my characters all majored in Political Science undergrad and then got a JD, bleh. Also with Torres and Lee, I have five lawyers in total. Why was I so unadventurous? I could’ve had diplomats, bankers, professors, funeral directors-anything. But alas, no.

Edit: also all my old applications are just dreadful and short. The only decent one was the updated Lane one, Albano, and the Kurt Model one.
