I had some ideas on ways to extend the fight, but I figure the group can have more protracted boss fights later on. Did it work out having lots of lesser targets for the large cast to choose from, or should I go more towards having single very tough foes? I like the latter idea because I don't have to worry about tracking how many mooks are remaining and coming up with all their tactics, but I could see power creep being an issue that comes when I have to make the boss strong enough to fend off a dozen magical warriors.

Zarkenis Ultima wrote:Speaking from experience, Const, leaving players to fend off large quantities of mooks on their own without supervision can also lead to power creep. I don't believe it'll happen with this group - it didn't this time, for one - but it's a distinct possibility.
In any case though, if it's easier to you, then by all means I'm up for tougher, less numerous foes. Something that could help with the power creep concern is either adding more than a single 'boss' or splitting the party up so that it's not -counts quickly- 3 humans, 1 drider, 1 angelle and 12 Elementals against one person.
I've not been the best in keeping up to date on this, but if you need to do any more numerous mook segments in the future, I'd be happy to help you track how many remain, assuming you need it.

I thought that this fight was pretty well designed, for the most part. There were enough for each player to contribute, but not enough for anyone to be like "my character badass-ly kills 15 soldiers!" I mean, out of a dozen pirates, a creature, and 6 watchtower agents, there wasn't a single character that took out more than 4 or 5. But if it's a concern for the future, I'd echo Zark here and say perhaps two or three larger combatants would be good, or splitting the players into smaller groups.

Constaniana wrote:Good points. I think I'll go with multi-boss idea more so we don't get different groups out of sync like we did in Carogne, where the main party had timeskipped already but Catrin, Erosen, and Gwen were behind for a bit. Then again, having groups could be a good way to get character interaction among party members who haven't done much of it with certain people so far.

Yeah, about that...
For really, I think that the poorest he that is in England hath a life to live as the greatest he. And therefore truly, Sir, I think it's clear that every man that is to live under a Government ought first by his own consent to put himself under that Government. And I do think that the poorest man in England is not at all bound in a strict sense to that Government that he hath not had a voice to put himself under.

They're still running around the Gallian half of Albrion stirring up trouble in an attempt to complete the whole North's independence. It's a little like accepting Bloody Bart's surrender on behalf of the IRA.
