The two I've got an idea for are a western fantasy adventure set in Sahranjja, or following a regiment of the Northern Forces during the Civil War in a Rogue One style story.

Alternatively we keep just running normal Elementals, depends what Const's planning?

I think out of those I would prefer the one set in Sahranjja, I'm not much for military matters sadly. Though, I did rather like Rogue One

Running Elementals in Const's absence certainly is an option, if we get either carte blanche or some sort of road map/outline from Const. I know we managed to get on by just fine back when he handed the reins to me for the finale of the Black Beast

Of all the powers and weapons used in Elementals, I can't say I was expecting a razor hat.

But I love it.

western fantasy?

Yeah, here's the premise:

The RP takes place roughly at the same time period, give or take. An immense deposit of gold has been discovered in the mystical land of Sahranjja, drawing adventurers and explorers from near and far to the region. The characters are a rag-tag bunch, hired by local townsfolk to investigate and defend against bandits and other mercenary groups and perhaps unveil the schemes of the local lords, who may or may not be consorting with the strange powers that lurk from beyond for unknown purposes. The general inspiration would be along the lines of classic westerns with a couple Weird West tropes thrown in.

Admittedly, it's weird to set an RP in the age of the gunslinger and say "nope no guns only muskets allowed" but that's the idea.

I was trying to think what sort of McGuffin the Northemen Rogue One would be pursuing in place of the Death Star plans. I thought of one idea, but it would probably spoil stuff I was planning on bringing up in the IC later on. I then had an idea of a story about Northemen commandos attacking the federal naval defences along the Great Eastern Canal, enabling the allied fleets to sail up to Villdernheim, helping win the war. But the western story you previously described is also cool, and exploring a new country in an alternate timeline might be more accessible for newcomers than a lore-heavy interquel.

Woodstovia wrote:It's not really the same as genre so it may not be what you meant but I was thinking a prequel or a side story with our current characters.

A prequel to this story? How about "Elementals 2: The Black Beast 2" :P

Ulric is Speedwagon confirmed.

I'm thinking I might do something like that to wrap up this fight, which is not going to only be spoopy birds, but I might hold off on bringing the group into Towraigth itself.

Changing topics, the other day while returning from Fort Lee for security clearance stuff I stopped at the Stonewall Jackson death site since it was only a few miles from the interstate. The house itself was closed due to the plague, but the grounds were still open; aside from the lone Amtrak train that went by at one point it was pretty peaceful there, since it's all surrounded by woods and farms, so it was nice walking around for a bit to take a break from driving. One of the many signs there talking about local Civil War battles in that area mentioned the actions of some Union zouave units. If Elementals has vaguely mid-19th century tech level in most respects, it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility for some Galllian soldiers to act like this. brb gonna make the whole 53rd Regiment into zouave bois

What would y'all be more interested in, @current active players?

I'm thinking about starting to draft up an OP in the upcoming weeks, but I should probably get collective feedback before I end up doing anything. Or do we even want to do a side story at all? Sort of depends on how much of a roadmap we get and whether folks just want to keep running current Elementals.

Commandos sounds fun, but I'm loving the idea of running a pseudo Indiana Jones-y character in Sahranja

Post up, little wordy for my taste, but just catching up. Ball's in your court anyone who wants to help out. On the note of Erosen using a call on the Gull, it wasn't visible, just rather like Erosen attempting to entice anything sensitive to Dark Element to look in his direction.

I've gotten the OP for Elementals: Aurennian Commandos mostly finished up, and I'll probably be dropping it after we hit this next update. I think it'll be fun!

Although maybe I should drop it like a week before Const heads out so we can get the IC moving sooner? I'm unsure what the move is here.

Cool beans. Anyways, Erosen's open to interactions from anyone, not just Eric if anyone's looking for a way to insert themselves into the story.

EDIT: Needs one of these to destroy for a flamey-boi: El Fraile Island among other like constructions and abberations. We clear to post there, right?

Of course. It should go without saying that everyone from here is auto-accepted.

My goal is to launch the IC on the day Const leaves, give or take. I'm hoping to run with 5-7 people, though less than that will work okay.

Ulric's hail mary.

Lemme know if that threw a wrench in your plans, though.

Not at all, I thought it was cool.

Sorry for taking so long to get the update up; time seemed to run away from me the past few weeks. Some tips on fighting the sea-demon, since I will be unavailable to answer questions starting tomorrow: as shown by the cannonballs not doing much, this demon has high defence over most of its body. One of the weaknesses I had in mind was going through the mouth, which is complicated by all the big jagged teeth in the way. Other weaknesses are the eyes, complicated by the big bony ridges around it, and the broken spots in its armour from an earlier fight, as well as the one Ulric just made. Either the characters can try sniping it from the deck, or more adventurous, melee-oriented types can try climbing onto it to give it a good stabbing. They just have to hope it doesn't dive underwater again and try shaking them off that way.

Zark, would you want to be interested in controlling the demon like you did with the gigarillach at the end of Black Beast?

If you want me to I wouldn't be opposed, just TG me any details you might want me to include -nods-

Given that Erosen moved his way over to you to try and interact, yeah. I was figuring you'd be particularly active during this fight since now you've got twice as many excuses for shenanigans. :P

"Never gonna piss her off again."

Smug Erosen leans over," Yeah buddy, you are. But she likes ya enough not to make you a fritter."

It's not a Const sized post but that'll hopefully move things along and give people something to react to. Admittedly it's a bit difficult to figure out how to give everyone something to do when you've only got one monster with no arms to do so :P

I'd apologize for the delays but considering what you lot are used to, that feels redundant at this point.

Is it too meta to have your character mention he killed what was his original rejected incarnation?

Probably, but I did it anyway.
