Elementals 2 was Eric's superhero origin story.

Update is mostly done. I just need to write a description of Mithsbow itself and try to think of a better action prompt for the PC's than "Your PC is now in this town. What does he do?"

God, over a year really? That's fucking wild.

Also, would you have any info on what's in mithsbow/what the surroundings look like beyond the road and nearby forest (assuming there's anything at all to note beyond that)? I have some idea of what I want to do (for Tristan anyway, no clue for Hakkon :P) but not so much an idea of what the setting would be for that beyond the stone huts and whatnot.

Yep, between the battles at sea, the arrival in Towraigth, and the night battle with the demons it's been about 7 hours for them, but that long for us. A time-skip will do us good I think.

There's a few more things to Mithsbow. It has a small harbour, which is currently filled with fishing boats and a few Federal transports. With it only being a mile from the main town of the area it's sort of a suburb. It has a church, a one-room schoolhouse, a fish market, a pub, a post office, a grocer's or two, and a small jail of its own, among other things, but for a lot of larger town things people go into Towraigth. So there'd be a blacksmith in Mithsbow, but he'd specialise more in fixing household tools, so if you needed proper weapons you would walk the mile to Towraigth, for instance. There's ropemakers for all the nautical stuff the townsfolk do, since fishing is their main industry, as well as other trades that would line up with that, like coopers (people need barrels to store their catch in) and boat repairmen. Near the harbour/fish market I can picture some smokehouses that are used for making kippers, and maybe smoking other meats they come across. I suppose they don't only have serious business things like that though; maybe there's a lone bookshop/newsagent in the town, or some other fancy/fun shop, like an apothecary or a sweets shop. It's certainly a bit isolated compared to most other places the characters will have wandered so far, but it's still a town as opposed to a village or hamlet, so there's some stuff to do. I don't have a map drawn up for this locale, so if there's something in particular you'd want Tristan to do based off the loose guidelines of what's in this town that I've described then feel free to get creative and throw something in.

As for what is outside Mithsbow, not a whole lot, at least nearby. It sits at the western tip of the island. Most land travel out of Mithsbow is walking east to Towraigth; sea travel has a few more destinations. They run little ferries to and from the Isle of Strond every day (during peacetime, at any rate), a weekly service to/from St. Veowulf (carefully coordinated with the larger ferry company in Towraigth and done on different days of the week so as to not cause tension between them), and a ship departs to Rolphcross every month or so. It's technically possible to charter a vessel to Albrheim, but you'd be better off seeking for that in Towraigth. If you took the road north out of Mithsbow you would mostly pass scattered country cottages for miles and miles until you came to the Glass Tower, an Imperial ruin that Isaiah Daegal mentioned as being as tall as the Saint's Seat, and which I cryptically referenced in the initial description of Towraigth:
Constaniana wrote:Last of all, off in the distance appeared to be another tower of some sort, but it appeared to be well outside Towraigth, with leafless trees surrounding its base. For the Southemen in the Federal transports it was an odd sight indeed; certainly not the stereotypical huts made of sod or logs with muddy pigs and children running about they might have expected from a Northemen settlement in the middle of nowhere.
.

However, given that a road winds through the woods outside Towraigth that leads more directly to the Glass Tower, the few people who have any reason to go there tend to take that route, leaving Mithsbow's northern road mostly unused. Any other descriptions/clarifications about the area you would like?

That's plenty of info, I can work with that :P though I suppose I could ask, where are the federal troops burying the bodies exactly? Just outside the walls, or is there some other designated area?

I think the Federals would be burying the bodies outside the wall/by the roadside to Mithsbow. The town has its own graveyard, but it's not terribly big, and I think the soldiers would prefer having their fallen comrades all in one place. Random volunteers will presumably be buried with the federal forces for now, although they could be exhumed and sent somewhere else if their family requests it or they had it mentioned in their will, or something to that effect. Given that there's snow on the ground and it's night the ground will be pretty hard, so the survivors will be having great difficulty digging in graves currently. I think the allied forces numbered around a thousand; out of that casualties in this battle were light due to the heavy support they had from the Elementals and naval bombardment. Let's say about 60-80 men dead and another 100 or so significantly injured.

As for the the demon corpses, they are being stripped of trophies and weapons and then heaped into a pile to be burned later on.

And there's a post for Tristan. I'll get something up for Hakkon some other time.

Fun (or not so fun, depending on your perspective) fact: I apped both Tristan and Trish on the 4th of January of 2019. That means she's been waiting to be introduced for close to three years :P

Huzzah, the gang is ever so slowly getting back together!

I have a background events post I've been working on for a while that involves, among other things, Kroisoto being back in Haventown. For him it's been over three years since the journey started from there, but for us it's been over 8 years.

While checking something in the Black Beast I came to the bit where Eric and Erosen both joined the party, including my first ever IC post responding to everyone's favourite tortured woodland soul.

Constaniana wrote:
Ameriganastan wrote:"I know that look. Someone had themselves an unpleasant dream, didn't they?"

Sitting in the tree above him was Eric, still whittling his tree branch from the night before.

"I've had my share of unpleasant dreams in my day. I always found it helpful to talk to somebody about it."

He dropped down from his perch, stuffing his whittling knife away.

"You like it? It's a good luck totem. Learned how to carve it from a blind man in Sahranjja. Nice fella. So, what's your story?"

"Yes, it's a nice little carving," the boy said. Kroisoto sat in nervous silence for a few moments, wondering whether to open up to this stranger. Eric seemed a pleasant old fellow, and there couldn't be much harm in explaining a brief dream he had.

"It's...a bad memory. I try to avoid thinking about them, but sometimes fragments of them pop back up into my thoughts," the blueblood began. "I only grew up with my mother-I think my father died in the war, though mother didn't talk too much about him. Too painful, you see. She tried raising me as best she could, but it was hard on our scraggy little farm, which was honestly more of a glorified vegetable patch. I lost her when I was around 7, and got taken in by a kind peasant family. This was all in the months before Ulfrüs's uprising nine years ago, and when his army came through my adopted family got caught in the path of that traitor's soldiers," Kroisoto abruptly stopped speaking, taking a few deep breaths to calm himself down before continuing the explanation. "I remember all the rain..." Jonah's antics caught the boy's attention after that, giving him an opportunity to avoid explaining the saddest part of his life any further. He stood up, cautiously walking towards Jonah.

Richard and Aldraniri both stopped talking and eating to look at the fallen nature elemental with a baffled expression on their faces.

"Is he drunk? He does seem to be falling down a lot and there's some bizarre stink coming off of him," Aldraniri inquired.

"Nah, I don't think he's drunk. He was too coordinated with trying to steal that bag, and as far as I'm aware booze only makes your breath smell funny. Maybe he got some weird foreign herbs or something..." Richard answered.

"Herbs? What, like mint or basil?" The boy asked, puzzled.

"Err....something like that, kid," the foreigner replied, deciding to let the lad keep his innocence a bit longer.

I shall be doing a proper update post in a short while, but I figured the tone of the later sections was sufficiently different from Lisoette's scene to merit separating them.
