Having finally caught up... why do I feel like I'm the only one who acknowledged the toxic smoke at any point?

Also, I've been having some neat ideas for spells for an Earth Elemental. I might or might not use that to create a character, we'll see.

Forgot to respond to this; I'm curious to see what these ideas would be. And speaking of your other characters, you might actually be able to bring in your other main one soon...

I attempted putting Laz's new Garmiccia lore into the world atlas post, and it took it from about 49,000 characters up to almost 100,000. Looks like I'll just leave a link for it at the bottom haha.

I threw it into my post immediately beneath the Religions post, and I'll revise and post the apps again in a bit.

Because now that I'm looking at them, wow these are outdated.

I took a look at Katya's and was reminded that apparently her dad pulled an oopsie and ironically killed her brother. Time for me to bring said brother back as a ghost NPC

And even worse, with the timeline that I've generated through worldbuilding and flashbacks, for Katya to have an older brother, Nikolai either has to be much older than Alexei (wack) or was cranking kids out in his early teens (also wack). Also the backstory was like "lol her dad hated her growing up" but then I have posts of him being like, generally affectionate until the whole arranged marriage thing came up? TLDR make it make sense, Laz.

If Kass makes a character with a dog or puppy, we need someone to kick it or be jealous of it, don't we?

See I like cool elaborate backstories as much as the next guy, but you're prone to running into issues like this. Bland ass backstories like my characters' don't have such issues

I guess the affection could have started once he decided he would make Katya his best heir and actually started paying attention to her. Though one other funny thing with that backstory would have been why the heck he took so long getting remarried if he was so concerned with preserving his posterity.

I guess posting full applications for the NPCs in question would help me clarify/retcon them into what I have in mind now, but then I run into the issue of having enough time to put it all down in writing.

My trick with backstory is to not get too detailed. Give the gist, then build on it as the RP goes along.

Mentions of Aerion earlier got me to thinking about using other characters who have fallen into slumber. It started with Vivienne, since I figured that the younger sister of one of the world's monarchs running around might have some effect on the politics of the setting, and it got me thinking how Vivienne and Erica the Disillusioned Nun would be an interesting pair. They both got messed up pretty badly by the Northern Revolution and are still being hunted for actions they took during it. Vivienne and Erica both were bandits at some point in their life, before and after the war respectively. They both also seemed to have lost a core personality aspect of their opposing Elements. Vivienne's inner fire is going out with her not knowing what her purpose in life is, plus having her warm personality smothered by the trauma she had inflicted on her. Erica lost the calm, cool composure an Ice Elemental typically would have. I might try involving them in future posts.

Yeah, they were pretty promising party members. Unfortunate how Vivienne showed up right before a three month pause in the middle of a fight scene (no real time to interact with other characters, hard to stay interested with such a long break) and Erica's player dropped an app and then dropped off the face of the earth.

Well, at least we won't be short on cool NPCs.
