+++Psychological analysis: Isabelle is a thinker, rather than a talker. Primarily due to her loss of hearing which occurred during her early childhood. As such, she has a basic understanding of the English language, however, it is that of a 7-year old child. And she lacks knowledge on the nuances of tonal changes and meanings. As with most Students at Hanzoku, they are under large amounts of pressure from their parents to succeed. Isabelle is under the pressure of proving her worth to her parents and giveing them a reason to accept her as a member of the family, rather than an expense to be managed.
Like most people suffering from a disability, Isabelle is very appreciative of the small victories, and other aspects of life that would normally be taken for granted. She is unable to listen to music but holds a deep respect for those who can sing. As they have taken a step to foster a gift they possess. Isabelle does not envy people around her though, as she has no memory of hearing she has little basis for such jealousy. She believes she is extremely fortunate she is able to see, allowing her to navigate the world similarly to any other person, aside from her dorm room, which has been modified to eliminate any kind of sensory reliance, instead using lights for items such as landlines and microwaves. This does make her feel bad for visitors, however, as her room, while visually stimulating, has often been described as eerily quiet. As normal household noise triggers have been eliminated and her room lacks any kind of radio or audio player. Even her Television is practically always muted in favour of subtitles.
Isabelle's upbringing would have made her an incredibly timid person if not for her Sister's intervention. While she is rather shy, emotional, and more likely to blend into a crowd she does not actively try to avoid social interaction. But can easily become overwhelmed if she is the centre of attention or placed in stressful circumstances. She fears being abandoned by those close to her, and her disability has manifested in insecurity and an intense fear of the dark. She struggles to open up to people, afraid of scaring them away and obstructed by the communications gap between her and most people. She also fears attachment due to her inability to determine who people really are, as she can't determine the tone or exact translations for spoken words, however, she is determined to overcome her inability to see a person's true face.
Isabelle was able to manifest her Persona through the mental stress placed on her by audio stimulant upon her first time in the Shadowplane, and how people she thought she knew were different with the addition of tone and voice, this developed a conviction within her to overcome her ignorance toward the true identities of those she knows. A conviction she is still fighting to fulfill.
+++Weaknesses:
- - Complete & permanent hearing loss - Auditory Neuropathy (Capable of hearing in the Shadowplane)
- Poor long-range vision without glasses.
- Audio sensitivity (In the Shadowplane), easily startled and disoriented by loud or unexpected noises.
- Lacking much brute-force power and personal defence, while she can hold her own, she's no tank.
- Self-conscious.
- Unable to understand tone and tonal meanings.
+++Interests: Reading, Drawing (Well-Practiced but rather amateurish), swimming and other solo sports.
+++Fears: Being unable to see a person's true face, darkness, abandonment.
+++Persona Name: Sagi
+++Persona Appearance: The appearance of Isabelle's Persona comes from the subconscious way she views those around her. She sees them almost as shadows, with few defining features and an almost shimmering figure, with multiple faces and figures.
+++Persona Arcana: Priestess (II)
+++Persona Elemental Affinity: Dark
+++Persona Elemental Weakness: Light
+++Persona Skills: Dia, Eiha, Bash
+++Biography: Isabelle's parents and siblings are gifted minds. Her Father, an Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineer and founder/CEO of 'Olivani Aircraft Manufacturing', considered a leader in the field of modern avionics. Isabelle's Mother is a Structural Architect who was involved in the construction of Estrella del Mar. Her 4 older siblings have all gone into advanced STEM jobs and have been leaders in their respective classes. Even from birth, she was expected to do great things, to carry on a legacy of science and development.
Her birth was problematic, however, oxygen deprivation caused damage to her auditory nerves. She was diagnosed with partial deafness and there were fears that it could develop into complete deafness at any time. Her mother rushed to teach her English and how to read before the inevitable occurred. This 'inevitable' was an accident when she was 4, while playing with her siblings she fell down a flight of stairs. The resulting head injuries, although minor, were enough to damage the already traumatized auditory nerves to the point of complete deafness. Doctor's operated in an attempt to repair the nerve damage, however, were unsuccessful on both attempts.
Isabelle's father was ashamed of his youngest daughter and her disability, instead prioritising her older siblings. Isabelle's mother tried her best to raise Isabelle and continued to teach her English using her basic knowledge as a building block, but inevitably gave in to the stress and shifted her focus onto her older children. Isabelle found the most support from her oldest sister Emi, who learned ASL, BSL and DSGS as they moved repeatedly for work, teaching Isabelle how to read and lip read. Isabelle quickly fostered a keen knack for Science and Mathematics, which Emi helped to grow into a passion. Emi would take Isabelle to her places of work, as a chemical analyst. Isabelle however always displayed more interest in the fields of her parents. Seeking to give them a reason to let her back into their lives.
This was not the case however, her Mother was exhausted from her prior efforts and struggle, and her Father kept her away from the public eye. Afraid that an 'impaired' child would cast a shadow on their family's achievements. She was left out of social events and for a majority of her school life, enrolled in boarding schools wherever they would go for travel. This would prove costly, even for this family.
Isabelle's parents disapproved of Emi's role in Isabelle's life, her Father preferring to leave her in the family's shadow, with her Mother dreading what might happen should Emi fail like her before. To split the two up and save on moving costs, they enrolled Isabelle in Hanzoku while they left for Switzerland.
