(Burgy, I.B.)

Image
+++Name: Isabelle Burgy
+++Age: 17
+++Sex/Gender: F/F
+++Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
+++Physical appearance: Light brown hair (kept down), frameless glasses, hazel eyes
+++Identifying Marks: Surgical scars above right and left ears (mostly obscured by hair),
+++Nationality: American Born, Swiss and British Citizen
+++Ethnicity: Swiss & British Mix
+++Religion: Roman Catholic (non-practicing)
+++Birthplace: King County, Washington
+++Permanent Residence: Nantes Dorm, Specialty needs quarters
+++Skills:
    - Fluent in; ASL, BSL & DSGS
    - Capable lip reader
    - Highly skilled in Maths and Science (namely; Structural Mechanics, Materials Science & Fluid Mechanics)
    - Intuitive and fast thinker
    - Relatively fast and agile.
+++Equipment: Henry .45-70 Lever Action Rifle, Kukri, Flashlight, Notepad & Pen, Dorm keys, Glasses Cleaner, Small ASL translation handbook, Huawei Phone customised for speech-to-text and soundless communication.
+++Vehicle: ~
+++Psychological analysis: Isabelle is a thinker, rather than a talker. Primarily due to her loss of hearing which occurred during her early childhood. As such, she has a basic understanding of the English language, however, it is that of a 7-year old child. And she lacks knowledge on the nuances of tonal changes and meanings. As with most Students at Hanzoku, they are under large amounts of pressure from their parents to succeed. Isabelle is under the pressure of proving her worth to her parents and giveing them a reason to accept her as a member of the family, rather than an expense to be managed.

Like most people suffering from a disability, Isabelle is very appreciative of the small victories, and other aspects of life that would normally be taken for granted. She is unable to listen to music but holds a deep respect for those who can sing. As they have taken a step to foster a gift they possess. Isabelle does not envy people around her though, as she has no memory of hearing she has little basis for such jealousy. She believes she is extremely fortunate she is able to see, allowing her to navigate the world similarly to any other person, aside from her dorm room, which has been modified to eliminate any kind of sensory reliance, instead using lights for items such as landlines and microwaves. This does make her feel bad for visitors, however, as her room, while visually stimulating, has often been described as eerily quiet. As normal household noise triggers have been eliminated and her room lacks any kind of radio or audio player. Even her Television is practically always muted in favour of subtitles.

Isabelle's upbringing would have made her an incredibly timid person if not for her Sister's intervention. While she is rather shy, emotional, and more likely to blend into a crowd she does not actively try to avoid social interaction. But can easily become overwhelmed if she is the centre of attention or placed in stressful circumstances. She fears being abandoned by those close to her, and her disability has manifested in insecurity and an intense fear of the dark. She struggles to open up to people, afraid of scaring them away and obstructed by the communications gap between her and most people. She also fears attachment due to her inability to determine who people really are, as she can't determine the tone or exact translations for spoken words, however, she is determined to overcome her inability to see a person's true face.

Isabelle was able to manifest her Persona through the mental stress placed on her by audio stimulant upon her first time in the Shadowplane, and how people she thought she knew were different with the addition of tone and voice, this developed a conviction within her to overcome her ignorance toward the true identities of those she knows. A conviction she is still fighting to fulfill.
+++Weaknesses:
    - Complete & permanent hearing loss - Auditory Neuropathy (Capable of hearing in the Shadowplane)
    - Poor long-range vision without glasses.
    - Audio sensitivity (In the Shadowplane), easily startled and disoriented by loud or unexpected noises.
    - Lacking much brute-force power and personal defence, while she can hold her own, she's no tank.
    - Self-conscious.
    - Unable to understand tone and tonal meanings.
+++Likes/dislikes: Isabelle likes reading and doing word puzzles, swimming, drawing, solving problems, aeronautics and structural design, and reading the news. Isabelle dislikes the willfully ignorant, loud or hoonish people, the unadaptable and arrogant, and people who can be considered 'fake'.
+++Interests: Reading, Drawing (Well-Practiced but rather amateurish), swimming and other solo sports.
+++Fears: Being unable to see a person's true face, darkness, abandonment.

+++Persona Name: Sagi
+++Persona Appearance: The appearance of Isabelle's Persona comes from the subconscious way she views those around her. She sees them almost as shadows, with few defining features and an almost shimmering figure, with multiple faces and figures.
Image

+++Persona Arcana: Priestess (II)
+++Persona Elemental Affinity: Dark
+++Persona Elemental Weakness: Light
+++Persona Skills: Dia, Eiha, Bash

+++Biography: Isabelle's parents and siblings are gifted minds. Her Father, an Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineer and founder/CEO of 'Olivani Aircraft Manufacturing', considered a leader in the field of modern avionics. Isabelle's Mother is a Structural Architect who was involved in the construction of Estrella del Mar. Her 4 older siblings have all gone into advanced STEM jobs and have been leaders in their respective classes. Even from birth, she was expected to do great things, to carry on a legacy of science and development.

Her birth was problematic, however, oxygen deprivation caused damage to her auditory nerves. She was diagnosed with partial deafness and there were fears that it could develop into complete deafness at any time. Her mother rushed to teach her English and how to read before the inevitable occurred. This 'inevitable' was an accident when she was 4, while playing with her siblings she fell down a flight of stairs. The resulting head injuries, although minor, were enough to damage the already traumatized auditory nerves to the point of complete deafness. Doctor's operated in an attempt to repair the nerve damage, however, were unsuccessful on both attempts.

Isabelle's father was ashamed of his youngest daughter and her disability, instead prioritising her older siblings. Isabelle's mother tried her best to raise Isabelle and continued to teach her English using her basic knowledge as a building block, but inevitably gave in to the stress and shifted her focus onto her older children. Isabelle found the most support from her oldest sister Emi, who learned ASL, BSL and DSGS as they moved repeatedly for work, teaching Isabelle how to read and lip read. Isabelle quickly fostered a keen knack for Science and Mathematics, which Emi helped to grow into a passion. Emi would take Isabelle to her places of work, as a chemical analyst. Isabelle however always displayed more interest in the fields of her parents. Seeking to give them a reason to let her back into their lives.

This was not the case however, her Mother was exhausted from her prior efforts and struggle, and her Father kept her away from the public eye. Afraid that an 'impaired' child would cast a shadow on their family's achievements. She was left out of social events and for a majority of her school life, enrolled in boarding schools wherever they would go for travel. This would prove costly, even for this family.

Isabelle's parents disapproved of Emi's role in Isabelle's life, her Father preferring to leave her in the family's shadow, with her Mother dreading what might happen should Emi fail like her before. To split the two up and save on moving costs, they enrolled Isabelle in Hanzoku while they left for Switzerland.

Changes made! Alistair's personality has been tweaked and his Persona is now Horatius of the Strength Arcana. Yes, I do indeed have a thing for Republican Rome.

Edit: Also managed to change the outright glower in his profile picture (that fit before but really doesn't now) to a confident but slightly sad smile through some questionable image editing that I don't think turned out enormously badly!

Thinking of going either Magician or Chariot knowing how I'm writing my character. Better flip a coin.

Guess who's here for a tag. I prepare an app possibly tonight. I'm familiar with the Persona series, so this might be interesting for me.

RPs I do
- How do you do fellow kids? You want to see something violent? - Artemis: Deimos Trafficking League (Horror/Mature)
- Descend into the forgotten tourist traps of Florida on this transgressive RP! - The Community (Mature/Black Comedy/Slice-of-Life)

My overall account that I use for P2TM and even for international roleplaying! MNM is a mysterious and extremely dangerous dictatorship filled with supernatural oddities, demons, militarized soldiers everywhere, and a misanthropic nihilistic dictator who doesn't give a damn. It's basically if the SCP Foundation got mixed with 1984.

It's finished! If there any mistakes, make sure to tell me.

(Narihari, T.N)

Image
+++Name: Tanji Narihari
+++Age: 17
+++Sex/Gender: Male/Male
+++Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
+++Physical appearance: 5'8 in height, 130 lbs in weight, short black hair, slightly muscular and grey eyes
+++Identifying Marks: Nothing of major notice, but currently has a bandage wrapped around his left index finger from a small cut.

+++Nationality: Japan
+++Ethnicity: Japanese-American
+++Religion: Shinto
+++Birthplace: Ueda, Nagano, Japan
+++Permanent Residence: Nantes Dorm, Hanzoku Gifted Academy, Estrella del Mar, California, U.S.A.
+++Skills:
- Knowledge of English and Japanese language
- Avid Reader
- Above Average Intelligent
- Analysis skills
- Experienced Swimmer
+++Equipment: Modified Paintball Gun with bag of marbles, cell phone, backpack, city map, dorm key, and copy of Infinite Jest book
+++Vehicle: Electric Scooter

+++Psychological analysis: Tanji is currently homesick due to moving from his home country of Japan to the United States in California. While this will eventually subside, he's uncomfortable with making new friends in a location he is unfamiliar with. In terms of morality, he tends to see himself in white and grey morality. Where he is stoic, he does have a habit of getting nervous in moments that he sees as unexpected. While he is aware of the bad in the world, he doesn't see himself as a cynic, believing that it's possible for most problems to be fixed. While he does get visibly emotional in moments of stress, he keeps a cool demeanor even if it's a facade when he is visibly stressed.
+++Weaknesses: While he is athletically fit and has a decent mindset of smarts, his greatest weakness is of being easily manipulated. While he does do what he believes is considered right, there are times where people can convince things under the assumption that they will have positive effects. To make things complicated, while he is able to determine decisions with obvious results, when he is given a choice that would lead to the sacrifice of another, he easily cracks under pressure. Believing that it's possible to get a win-win solution to a problem he sees is possible, his determination to help others can lead to a fatal flaw, unless better treated.
+++Likes/dislikes:
Likes: Reading, Swimming, Detective shows (Ex: Conan), and Takoyaki.
Dislikes: Injustice, bad romance novels, rain, and needles (though he isn't afraid of them).
+++Interests: Fiction novels, Detective TV shows and movies, video games, swimming, and riding his scooter.
+++Fears: The unknown, spiders, and being lost.

+++Persona Name: Bishamon
+++Persona Appearance: A towering samurai armor-clad figure, he is dressed in armor that resembles a red pagoda where his eyes can be seen through the helmet, where they glow yellow. He holds a golden spear which glows, whenever he is ready to attack.
+++Persona Arcana: Justice
+++Persona Elemental Affinity: Fire
+++Persona Elemental Weakness: Ice
+++Persona Skills: Single Shot, Agi, Dia

+++Biography: Originally from the rural lifestyle of Japan, Tanji was born in 2012 where he lives with his mother, father, and younger brother. His own father was a police officer, where he was comfortable due to the low crime rate, making him spend most time with his family. Even though his parents lived comfortably, Tanji and his younger brother Yoshi had some interests which they felt were conflicting to everyone around them. Yoshi wanted to be out of the countryside and convince his parents to move to the city, where Tanji was having trouble in deciding his ultimate future, since many of his friends saw him to be an athletic swimmer, despite his feelings and own personal goals. When Tanji was in middle school, he wanted to be a police detective when he grew up, motivated by his father's job and his mother deciding on pursuing council work. He attempted to be a Good Samaritan, but many of his friends thought that he was becoming a teacher's pet and goody two-shoes, which Tanji tried to disagree.

One day, Yoshi was bullied by several kids when Tanji was starting out middle school. Wanting to give his brother some support, he convinced him to get help from his father, which he agreed. This developed his interest of doing what he believed was objectively good, though his own father reminded him that doing sure wasn't possible, though he did ask for Tanji to be more open, despite Tanji believing no one would understand him.

On 2029, his parents gave both Tanji and Yoshi a surprise. They were planning on moving to America to live at Estrella del Mar, California. While Yoshi was able to handle the change, Tanji didn't want to leave his friends behind, since he was so familiar with the home he lived in. That didn't stop his parents from moving to America, since Tanji complied anyways, seeing how he had no choice, knowing his family was happy. At Estrella del Mar, his own father gotten a job as a police officer, while his mother was more focused on the "mainland", being a political aide for a candidate, who was currently running a governor race. Yoshi and the father lived in an apartment somewhere in Estrella del Mar, while Tanji was given a dorm room at Hanzoku Gifted Academy, since he was qualified to attend the school.

At first, Tanji believed that life would be much difficult, having a new perspective in his life. However, he was in for a wild ride unlike no other.

Ah. Reminder to self: the UK education system is not universally known. When Alistair's profile states that he is transferring having finished his GCSEs, I mean that he'd be entering Hanzoku for the current academic year in what I believe will be the eleventh grade, if the conversion chart I've found is correct. Of course, his prior experience of Persona use may also be relevant.

Alternatively, you may know all of this already. Just making sure!

I refer in fact to the American system wherein 'freshman' is ninth, not eleventh, grade.

When Alistair's profile states that he is transferring having finished his GCSEs, I mean that he'd be entering Hanzoku for the current academic year in what I believe will be the eleventh grade, if the conversion chart I've found is correct. Of course, his prior experience of Persona use may also be relevant.

Yes, precisely, hence why I feared that there was an issue, since Alistair would neither be a freshman nor a veteran member of SEES (though he would be familiar with cognitive matters). Would there be one?

(DSJ, Donny)

+++Name: Donny St.Johns(nicknamed Mojo, against his wishes)
+++Age: 15 in a half
+++Sex/Gender: M/M
+++Sexual Orientation: Doesn't like to talk about it
+++Physical appearance: White skinned, clean shaven hair, 5"6 in height with around 155lbs with a lean but built form. When he's in uniform, he usually wears it neat and clean but keeps his headphones around his neck. Outside of school, he wears a navy blue hoodie with jeans and running shoes.
+++Identifying Marks: He's sacred up in various parts of his body and one knife mark on his face. Most notable a tattoo of a dove on his left breast where it covers a bullet wound.
+++Nationality: American
+++Ethnicity: White
+++Religion: Doesn't like to talk about it
+++Birthplace: Detroit
+++Permanent Residence: With his dad in their apartment/radio station in Indigo Square
+++Skills: Talented artist in the form of graffiti and urban art
Skilled in breakdancing and capoeira, often mixing the two when it comes to dancing or fighting
Good with communications equipment and signals
Fluent in Japanese
+++Equipment: steel-toed shoes for kicking, basic supplies, a glock 17 and a Evoker in a former of a choker that emits an extremely painful shock to summon his Persona, house keys and a titanium wallet with 30 dollars inside with a credit card. Basic phone
+++Vehicle:Just take commuter buses like everyone else, despite having a driver's licence

+++Psychological analysis: Donny is not much of a talker, he doesn't brood but he isn't much of a talker. This revolves around a lack of long-term interaction and growing distant with his adoptive father over the past few years. He prefers things to be more direct and practical to him. This is shown by his studies as he struggles with theoretical sciences and arts but understands the practical classes with less difficulty. He doesn't like to come to school and has a bad history with local authorities. He has been sent to juvenile detention around three times during the ages of 12-14 but stopped during the time where he was traveling to Estrella del Mar and got into the Academy.

He expresses himself mostly through his art and dancing, which is what he loves to do. It was one of the main connections he has with his adoptive father and how he got noticed by the Academy. He doesn't care much for fame but wants to at least make enough money to live off of his work. Other than that, he is still indecisive about his future in life.

He doesn't like his Persona power or being affiliated with SEES. It's not that he sees their goals as bad, he just feels it was a mistake to allow him to join,viewing himself with some disdain for having power. He rather be the same person and not some anime hero but he knows fate doesn't work that way.
+++Weaknesses: Donny is no book worm. He struggles so much with his studies that he needs tutoring and it took him several tries to pass the entrance exam. He isn't much of a team player and goes off solo sometimes or get's into conflict with other members. While he is a fast and elusive fighter, he is mostly a glass cannon. Because of his dislike for his Persona power, he has trouble unleashing his Persona power unless he's in great pain, hence the modified Evoker.
+++Likes/dislikes:He likes the moments where he can just express himself, turn on some music and have at it. He loves being in Indigo Square and being able to tag and bring life to a city with no life. He also likes connecting with his adoptive father when he has time but hates it when he focuses on his radio then his son, but understands it. He likes urban mash-up beats, making something new by mixing it with the old though he can't actually do it himself.

He has a strong dislike of the power of Persona, believing he shouldn't have it in the first place. This goes with SEES to some extent, mostly wishing that they find a way to take it away from him and leave him in peace. Some people in the SEES group he has some great disdain, those who wish to use their power for control over the world but doesn't voice it, not knowing enough of the people to actually say anything.
+++Interests:
+++Fears:Being indecisive, using his Persona power, school and his father's pressure to do good in school, SEES and what they do for some extent

+++Persona Name:Baron Samedi
+++Persona Appearance: Here
+++Persona Arcana:Death
+++Persona Elemental Affinity: Dark
+++Persona Elemental Weakness:Light
+++Persona Skills:Eiha
Sukujaka
Sweep

+++Biography: Donny was born in Detroit to a drug addict mother and a father that was imprisoned by the time of his birth. His mother died giving birth and he was put into foster care. For the first six years of his life, Donny had been bounced between 3 houses till he met his adoptive father Andre St.Johns. Andre just came out of the military as a war journalist and PR specialist. From here he left to New York as his father had gotten a job working as journalist for a newspaper.

The move was a breath of fresh air for the adoptive child. It was here he grew up learning about hip-hop, breakdancing, and the urban culture that will define him. Andre was happy to see him take up a passion, even saw his son take up Capoeria once he saw videos and wanted to incorporate it in his breakdancing. They grew close during the years until the day a letter arrived from Donny's biological father.

Donny wanted to know who his biological father was but Andre wouldn't do it. He didn't want to get anywhere close to him and this caused the start of the fallen out. Donny started to struggle in school, get in fights and focused more of his art. Andre had known that it started to take upon something that was focusing on death and a cycle of rebirth. It became more prominent after he got arrested and got kicked out of his school at the age of 14.

It was at the time where both Andre and his son had won the lottery to try and get into the Floating City. He was hoping of leaving New York and get a restart on both him and his son's life. His son however didn't want to leave but was forced to after a heated argument. As they left for the city, they both realized that there's no culture for a city so young but there was a place in the West Side called Indigo Square which was a cultural center for where they both would love.

Andre had homeschooled Donny since his criminal record had given some schools in the city much pause on the topic of accepting him. It was only Hanzoku that saw he had a true talent as they saw some of his graffiti art in the Square. However it took him a few tries to pass the entrance exam, mostly because he couldn't complete the high standards but his father pushed him enough that he barely made it.

At first Donny hated the school but he saw that he could explore his own art and did so with a newfound passion. Even his father, who had taken up being an owner of a new radio station, put up his art pieces to spruce up their new home. Though he stayed with his father, most of his time was either in tutoring or doing new art for people around the Square.

He grew more distant with Andre, not because he didn't like him but because he didn't know what to say. This became more stressed when he was approached to join SEES. At first Andre refused, proclaiming that they have the wrong guy. When it showed that he has the power of Persona, he still refused for the same reasons. For some reason or another he did join, if only to try to help the world. This made him not want to be near his father a lot, knowing that Andre was inquisitive and would ask about where he has been and had known he investigated SEES before truly allowing him to join the club.

Donny still doesn't know what to do with his life. Not much is making him go but the various things happening to him and the death always around him working with SEES, then he doesn't have enough time to figure out what he wants in life but it doesn't mean he's going to try.
+++RP Sample: Rogue Trader
+++Theme Song: Just something

Going to keep a running tally of our Persona Affinities and Weaknesses here for anyone who's interested. (Horatius' situation is reflected by the Resist and Spells markers.)

As of now... I worry that we're going to have a problem with anything that so much as points a torch at us.

I was thinking about changing my persona affinity to electricity. But I'm not sure if it would really fit with my character or the persona itself.

Don't make un-enjoyable choices for game reasons; it usually doesn't work.

Right. First thing's first: I completely forgot about MNM's profile. Apologies; Bishamon has now been taken into account! As it turns out, a slight chill looks to be capable of putting us out of action too. (I deliberately haven't included Artemis yet, since I suspect that Hanafuridake may switch Artemis' affinity and weakness later considering that she currently has no element. I also haven't included Robespierre, since Jeannette is the Wild Card and as such can pretty much do anything.)

Secondly, I thought I'd try to come up with a few ideas of elements that we could switch to if we wanted to balance things out while keeping things thematically solid:

- Mikhail - Seth, A: Fire, W: Light - I guess that Seth could have Wind for Affinity, as god of sandstorms, but frankly nothing fits him nearly so well as Fire does. He's literally the god of deserts, destruction and the colour red. Similarly, though Wind could fit him, given that Horus, who overthrew him, was associated with the sky, as far as I know Horus was more a god of the sky as a celestial thing rather than of the air itself, meaning that Light probably does fit Seth best.
- Alistair - Horatius, A: Phys (R), Light (S), W: Ice - Physical resistance aside, which I felt fit so well with the idea of holding off an entire army that I had to keep it even after switching from Coriolanus, I chose Light as Horatius' Affinity due to his place as an inspirational, paladin-like figure in the Roman mythos. His Weakness, though, I basically selected because he died/was gravely wounded in a river. That's the reasoning. I could change that to Dark (representing the self-destructive side of martyrdom) or Wind (because it was a javelin that finally did him in, even if he weathered dozens previously) without too much pain, though I do still think that I'd prefer Ice if possible.
- Isabelle - Sagi, A: Dark, W: Light - As far as I can tell, Sagi is an original creation. That's cool! It does, however, make analysis somewhat harder. Looking purely at Isabelle herself, I think that one thing I could say is that Psi might work as a Weakness based on her struggle to understand and communicate with others; in fact, if we'll eventually have Ultimate Personae (Rupudska?) that could work quite well, since character development towards that goal could be beautifully reflected in gaining the Evade Psi skill, as it works in Persona 5. Still, you'll understand her better than I!
- Tanji - Bishamon, A: Fire, W: Ice - I am not familiar at all with Japanese religion, so take all of this with a pinch of salt. That said... I actually think that he could have Ice as his Affinity rather than his Weakness; apparently he's associated with the North and Winter. As for a potential Weakness to replace it, I'm really not sure.
- Donny - Baron Samedi, A: Dark, W: Light - I am even less familiar with Haitian Vodou but just a quick glance at anything about him is enough to demonstrate that he really, really should have Dark as his Affinity. Moreover, according to the Encyclopedia Britannica, 'When Bawon Samdi ventures out of the kingdom of the dead, he must wear dark or coloured glasses to protect his eyes from the bright light.', so that works brilliantly as a Weakness.

And, you know what, because I'm considerably more familiar with Greek mythology:

- Hanazumi - Artemis, [A: Pierce, W: Strike] - In terms of Affinities, three things come to mind. Leaning into her link with Selene and the moon, you could go with Ice or even Psi but I'd say the most natural Affinity, befitting of her place as goddess of the hunt and her connections to archery and the wild, is Wind. Good Weaknesses, meanwhile, could be Fire, Elec, Nuke or Ice, all of which are destructive to nature. You could also play up her arrogant and spiteful aspect (the myths of Adonis and Orion come to mind) and give her Psi as a Weakness, though that applies to pretty much all of the Greek gods and probably doesn't fit Hanazumi herself.

Of course, there's also the fact that the Persona series, as Rupudska pointed out originally, plays pretty fast and loose with these things to begin with. Why is a fictional female pope portrayed as a nuke-flinging motorcycle? Search me! So yeah, we've got some creative license. Also, all of these are just my thoughts; if you've got better ideas or reasoning, please disregard any of them!

I actually did not realize that with Bishamon. When I was looking for Personas for Tanji's character, I knew to do one based on a Japanese god and based around the acrana he was given. I was planning on doing him as fire-based, but I didn't know Bishamon was based around winter.
