The British fleets have received word of the recent declaration of war on Serbia by the Austrians. The Prime Minister almost had a heart attack when he heard the news. This was it. War was almost inevitable now. Like one of Shakespeare’s great tragedies, the nations now were mere actors and characters hurtling towards a terrible end. The fleet was now ordered to secure the channel and he German coast. Plans had already been set in motion for the Home fleet to call nsolidate their forces and engage the German fleets. The sailors knew that the fight would be tough, but they had to succeed. After all, Britannia rules the waves.
Malta and Gibraltar
It wouldn’t be long now. The Italians seemed to have doubled down on their support of the damned Germans judging by their active fleets. The coastal guns of Gibraltar and Malta on the many rings of sea forts were only aided by the French fleets and a small British fleet that retreated to Sues to protect the canal. It seemed that most of Britain’s Colonial soldiers that weren’t attacking the German colonies were being held back to the Sues canal to defend against the Ottomans and the Italians.
Paris
The Prime minister of Britain’s message had come loud and clear.
THE UK STANDS WITB THE TRIPLE ENTENTE.
MOBILIZE QUICKLY AND HOLD FOR REINFORCEMENTS
Almost as quickly as the telegram was received, the French got to work. The mobilization Générale was announced and the great floating fortresses the French cherished were powered up once more. Revenge for the Franco-Prussian War would be glorious.
