May 13th, 2023: American archeologists have discovered a new area in one of the Giza pyramids. One of the walls contain hieroglyphs that translate to ' Those who discover this, Beware! The next decade Will be plagued with major disasters!' The archeologists disregard this information and move on with their lives.

June 11th, 2023: The deadliest heatwave in history occurs in Riyadh. Temperatures reach an unbearable 135°F/58.3°C. Over 1.7 Million casualties are recorded within the first 24 hours.

July 29th, 2023: A category 5 hurricane. 'Hurricane Cindy'. Strikes Central America. Death tolls reach over 1.3 million. Nicaragua collapses, sparking a violent civil war in that nation. The UN declares a humanitarian crisis.

August 1st-August 5th, 2023: A massive tornado outbreak occurs in tornado alley. Over 440 EF5s and 276 EF4s touch down over a period of 5 days. Dallas, Oklahoma City, Omaha, St. Louis, Little Rock, Austin, Topeka, Nashville, And Atlanta are hit by EF5 tornadoes. The Dallas tornado reaches wind speeds of over 330mph/531kph. Death tolls from all tornadoes combined exceed 65,000. As Well as 500,000 injured and 1.5 million homeless, and 400 billion dollars in damages.

September 9th, 2023: The Campi Flegrei Caldera in Italy erupts. Naples is annihilated in less than a minute. All of Italy, San Marino, Vatican City, Slovenia, Montenegro, Austria, Albainia, Malta, Tunisia, Switzerland, Lechinstien, and Monaco are covered in ash. Ash also spreads to Southeastern France, Southern Germany, Eastern Hungary, Eastern Bosnia, Eastern Croatia, Eastern Greece, Western Spain, Northern Algeria, Northern Libya, And Southern Czechia. Death tolls are estimated at approximately 11.9 Million. Scientists estimate a year long volcanic winter over Europe and Northern Africa. Italy and the EU collapse. Over 100 million European refugees seek safety in The Americas, Asia, and Australia.

November 14, 2023: A Yersinia Pestis (Black Death) outbreak occurs in Southern Africa, Brazil and Japan. By the time it wears itself out, over 40 million are dead.

December 19th, 2023: A massive blizzard rages across all of Canada, Alaska, New England, New York, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, and Washington. Temperatures plummet to below -60°F/-51.1°C. Wind speeds are as high as 70mph/112.6kph. Power is knocked out in alot of places. Over 625,000 freeze to death across the US and Canada.

It is now 2024. The disasters will only get worse. The disasters will end only in May of 2033. But, will humanity even last that long?

The Department of Human and Human Services will receive a $10 billion boost in funding for the Centers for Disease Control from what was originally slated for the Department of Defense. In doing so, 16,000 American troops will be withdrawn from Europe, namely Germany and Italy. The CDC will utilize this increased funding for better control against future epidemics that break out in the western hemisphere.

Vladimir Putin reclined in his chair in the Kremlin. In front of him were the top brass of the Russian military and state key members of the Duma. They had comvened to discuss the ‘environmental problems’ that had plagued the World because some arrogant archaeologists had refused to heed a warning on some pagan Egyptian tomb.

“Let us not stand on ceremony gentlemen,” Putin began, “these disasters have caused numerous problems for the World, but they also present a key opportunity. The USA is now unstable due to the Blizzards that have crippled the Central North parts of their country. That’s not even considering the titanic mess Europe is in. If I had to estimate, the EU will shatter in a few months and NATO won’t last much longer either. While this might seem like a great time to flex Rusdia’s military might, I believe it is time to use some realpolitik in our foreign strategy. The US will have to prioritize Western Europe if it wants to preserve any alli s in the region. So, we can extend or hand of friendship to the Baltic countries and other parts of Eastern Europe. We could start by sending supplies, but we could even achieve some alliances if we play our cards right. As far as the caucuses and Central Asia, our influence will grow with these vulnerable states down there. By the end, our influence will stretch from Poland to the steppes.”

“However,” he continued,”the environment seems to be its own problem. We will have to expand our rescue services and protect our power so that our people can rely on us. We need to create evacuatpn plans for Siberia. Clearly the blizzards of North America showed us that much. We must also protect the Trans Siberian railway at all costs.It is our connection to the east. In short, bring some divisions to reinforce Vladivostok, increase protection of the infrastructure, send aid to cpunt was we intend to sphere, and extend the hand of friendship to the Wuropeans that will take it. One last thing: We need to cool down the Ukrainian situation. Pressure the rebels in luhansk to surrender and repair our relations to or Slavic brothers. Any questions?”

After a few clarifications, the group left the office and started planning. Russia was going to have to adapt to survive, but that didn’t mean they didn’t have some tricks up their sleaves...
