Apparently if you're center right on the military you actually want to take away weapons systems even though you're increasing funding?

Geez, that one is really just badly done

I think its better to keep them as is and simply let people put their positions where they think they’d be if they think the way an issue or two is written is bad.

The game mostly uses issue positions to see how candidates will overlap with views in certain states and such, so I really think it should be fine if we just go with where we know the characters to be with the written issues as an example or guideline.

Definitely should favor one over the other instead of going too half and half

either

"Put down where you think your character is, and you can use the list if you want some guidance"

or

"Use the list to put down your characters, and you can adjust slightly if you think it's very off"

Not sure if you're saying the first one

I tend to concur with Imperial and TNS on the oddity of several of the issue descriptions. Regardless, the roughly estimated adjustments-I partially weighed a general conception of the position on the spectrum beyond the direct description for particularly ill-defined issues.

Kind of the same thing, more so saying go by the list but if its off just go with that you think best fits.

It says "as it is" which would based on the stuff around it mean it hasn't been changed since pre Obergefell at least

In the opposite direction, the descriptions appear to consider partial-birth abortion currently legal in that category.

Such would seem to be a instance in which there may be some tension between a perceived ideological placement, and a described one. I would have considered Appleby to be Far-Left in the abortion category, favoring legalizing abortions for any reason past twenty-four weeks, through the end of the third trimester, and preempting state law on the matter, while removing the Hyde Amendment to permit federal funding for abortions. Retaining the ban on partial-birth abortions would mark the only concession, yet by that portion alone, he is categorized as Centre-Left.

I will split the difference in this case, I think, and edit it to simply Left, though I think the originally intended descriptor may be a better fit.
