Alright, third time’s the charm, right?
STUDENT FILE

Name: Shirley Florence Villarrubia, although she hates being called Shirley and far prefers people come up with nicknames when outside formal settings, where she uses her middle name
Alias: The Pontchartrain Princess
Age: 19
Year: 1st Year
Gender: F
Image
This, although she'll often hold onto the extra set of eyes from her transformed form, albeit below her primary set instead of in place of eyebrows.

This but with an actual nose and with the mermaid tail of a walleye

Powers:
  • Hydrokinesis: Florence, quite simply, can control water, in its liquid form. Her way of doing so is generally quite clear and straightforward as well. While some hydrokinetics may almost always control water without any physical motion, Florence tends to accompany her hydrokinesis with hand motions, parting her hands to part waters, flicking her hands to make waves, etc. This is usually not necessary per se, but it does bolster her abilities greatly. Likewise, she can make use of hydrokinetic constructs to a degree, with her primary construct being an arm of water which mirrors her own, although she does on occasion attempt others, with her current subject of practice being flight with water, attempting to use her hydrokinesis to make wings to lift herself from the ground with.
  • Form Change: Far simpler in principle than even her hydrokinesis, Florence can shift into the form of a mutated mermaid, allowing her to breath and see easily underwater, as well as allowing her to swim much faster. This secondary power otherwise has little effect on her, and is more of a convenient partial metamorphosis than a weaponisable power that can be used in any metric other than making Florence primarily aquatic rather than terrestrial.

Drawbacks & Limitations: Florence's hydrokinesis first and foremost can only be used on liquid water, meaning not only does she have no control over the temperature of her water, but she cannot control it if it changes state. Further, her abilities to use water are affected by substances dissolved within the water, although this does not follow conventional logic. Unlike many other hydrokinetics whose abilities are affected by what's in the water, her hydrokinesis is at its peak when there are some dissolved substances in the water, making her at her best with brackish water, liquids such as tea and coffee with some dissolved plant material, etc, while her abilities with extremely clean water or saturated water are when her abilities are weaker. Naturally, her hydrokinesis also does respect conservation of mass, so places without water leave her powerless.

Weaknesses: Florence isn't physically strong, and is overall a lightweight.

Equipment and weapons: N/A

BACKGROUND

Nationality: American
Hometown: New Orleans

Personality: Florence is pretty smart by any metric, holding an academic record of all available honours courses in high school, although she participated in relatively few extracurriculars. She is generally not terribly social, and can sometimes be rather repugnant, although she has been compelled to improve in recent years. While not particularly mean-spirited, she isn’t shy about mocking certain people. Even so, she is generally even-tempered, and quick to forgive, although not quick to forget. She’ll almost always help a friend, even if she’ll often make a satiric fuss about it to them. As far as definitively bad qualities go, she can quickly shift into a bad temper, and can be rather clingy to those she likes, with a penchant for worrying. In a general sense, though, she can be described as a mostly decent person with a few caveats.

Bio: Florence was born in New Orleans to two married parents, with an overall normal family life, save for the unique situation of living with two of her maternal great grandparents, with her aunt and uncle living in the basement. Her early childhood saw little turmoil or upheaval, save for the crisis of 9/11, which of course shook the paranoias of parents more than anything else, and then the passing of her great grandmother, who’d long battled illness.

As the world always insists, however, a simple life simply isn’t a thing. Thus came Florence’s first experience with the power of water. Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, and devastated the city of New Orleans. The Villarrubias stayed, as Florence’s great grandfather refused to leave, so they all stayed out in Metairie with the grandparents where the flooding was less severe. Some things that were more permanent hit as well, however. Her great grandfather had a fall, and needed to be rushed to the hospital all the way in Baton Rouge while the city was under lockdown. Her parents volunteered to make the trek with him, taking along her young brother. None returned, having made it only a ways from the unflooded areas to skid out on the highway and crash.

In the years following, Florence was nominally raised by her aunt and uncle, but, as the both of them were still in their 20’s and working hard to rebuild, it was her grandparents that took up the yoke. Her father’s parents were divorced, with one still working long hours, and the other physically injured and unable to easily handle a young child. So she grew up in the care of her grandmother, and spent most of her early childhood with them, until she turned ten, when she gradually phased into being in the care of her aunt and uncle. She spent most of her teenage years with her aunt and uncle, and saw as they had kids of their own, but remembered her lost family clearly, even after years and years.

It was at age eight, soon before beginning the third chapter of her life with her aunt and uncle, that Florence’s powers first showed. Out in the sun room, she sat with her grandparents listening to the reports coming in of Hurricane Gustav. As her grandmother reported to ARGUS: “Well little Florence, she just looked at the big pond of water and she started yelling “No” at it and Lou and I thought she was just still upset about her parents, and I turned to Lou and he just says “Nanc, look at your f-ing granddaughter” and I turn around and see little Florence just still yelling at the window but I look out like Lou said and the water was—it was listenin’ to her, stayin’ back like she was Moses or something!"

This began a series of events where Florence would demonstrate her abilities without true conscious control of her primary abilities, most of which luckily happened to be on private property. Her late middle school years would see her begin to gain conscious control of these hydrokinetic abilities, and would lead to her discovering her mermaid form. Luckily for Florence, as she began to harness her hydrokinesis, her grandaunt had her own pool and small fish pond, while her paternal grandmother co-owned a condo on the gulf coast with access to a bayou. The two of these allowed Florence place to practice her powers once in a while, without running afoul of the law, although the waves she sometimes caused would eventually lose her bayou privileges, as her grandmother wanted to avoid any breaks of civil law for wave height in the bayou.

Hydrokinesis wasn't the only thing she practiced in her high school years, however. With a lust for languages and an inheritance, she booked herself three tutors, for three languages: Indonesian, Thai, and Hungarian. In school, she enrolled in the French and Vietnamese programmes, and excelled throughout her pursuit of language learning, occasionally at the expense of her other core classes, particularly math and science. Her superhuman abilities would put her on the track to become a student at the William J. Nantz Institution,

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Fears/Phobias: Although she has no deep concrete fears, Florence does tend to catastrophise things around loved ones, beelining to worst-case scenarios very quickly.
Skills: Florence is fluent and literate to varying degrees in English, French, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thai, and Hungarian, and knows rudimentary woodworking, plumbing, and is an excellent cook thanks to her grandfather. As far as other skills go, she is a reasonably decent singer and pianist, and has a knack for learning languages.

INSTRUCTOR FILE

Name: Dr. Iair Szabo
Alias: Visionary
Age: 41
Year: Instructor
Gender: Male
Image

Image

Powers:
-Telekinesis: The ability to move objects with one's mind. Iair is able to move things up to the size of buildings, though exerting more force can strain him somewhat. He can also reach out with his telekinetic power as a kind of 'sixth sense'.

-Biopathy: If he can see someone, Iair can instantly discern their physical health, genetic abnormalities, et cetera.

-Tinker: The catch-all term for metas whose power allows them to create devices far beyond current levels of technology. All tinkers specialize in a particular gimmick, whether it be a type of technology or a method of work. Iair's specialty is the field of Genetic Engineering- he can create engineered organisms over time, as well as devices which allow him to manipulate the genetic codes of said organisms in order to cultivate them.

Drawbacks & Limitations:
-Telekinesis is limited to his range of vision. Anything that is out of his field of vision cannot be moved. He can, however, effect objects that are too fast for the human eye if they pass through his field of vision. The only exception is objects that he completely knows the location of, which he could move with some difficulty.

-Creating engineered lifeforms takes a large amount of time and work on his part, and he's more or less unable to make the time for it with his teaching duties.

Weaknesses:

Equipment and weapons: As Visionary, he carried a variety of knives and occasional biological weapons. As a teacher, he rarely has need of such lethal armements.

BACKGROUND

Nationality: Polish
Hometown: Warsaw, Poland (Current residence in Portland, Oregon, U.S.A.)

Personality: Irritable and abrasive, in a fatherly 'tough love' kind of way. Does not tolerate any bullshit or idiocy, though. He also doesn't care for anyone who likes to judge him for his previous career choices.

Bio:Visionary, in his time, was one of the last true independent villains. Not associated with any of the growing villain gangs, he worked on his own, following a strange sense of honor. Full-on murder was eschewed in favour of crippling and/or maiming. Some would say it was crueler, but it gave him a strange kind of rivalry with the local heroes. His attacks started frequent, but dropped as he slowly acquired more and more money. A turning point in his career was a quaint encounter in a hospital. A sick child, chosen by the make-a-wish foundation, wanted to meet his favorite metahuman. This particular child had a preference for a certain villain. A message was put out, with little expectation for an appearance by Visionary. But, life is full of surprises. He made an appearance, and stated the best way to cure the child while simultaneously insulting the professionals of the establishment. His retirement from villainy followed soon after, and Visionary fell out of the public eye.

Iair Szabo, on the other hand, was retired with a large sum of mysteriously-acquired money, living with his wife. Elsa Rozen-Szabo was married to him at around the time of Visionary’s retirement, coincidentally coinciding with the similar retirement of the mysterious villain Nightshade. Some time later, they were blessed with twins- Fionn and Seres Szabo.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Fears/Phobias: None notable.
Skills: Speaks Polish. Obviously knowledgeable in fields of biology, as per his tinker specialization.
Theme: Gaster's Megalovania (Amella Remix)

I'm sorry to hear that, hope you feel well soon.

On a note for everyone, I'm going to make the IC tonight, so it will come out late tonight or after after 12 am tomorrow EST.

We'll be starting towards the end of the year so we can skip the often lagging introduction period but still have finals in the relatively near IC future.

Here we go, time to add variety to where characters come from. No home life for this guy, its all been the streets. Thank you to Cyber for putting up with my telegrams, and working with me to get this character made in a way that fits the world.

STUDENT FILE

Name: Phallu
Alias: Crimson Shadow
Age: 18
Year: 1st Year
Gender: Male
Image

N/A

Powers:
True Sense - Phallu is capable of perceiving the world around him, to gain information about the locations of people, be them friend or foe, and objects. He can use this to sense people from the other side of walls, or on different floors of a building, and to get a rough idea of what they are doing.

Trackless Step - Phallu is capable of teleportation, but only with a very short range. That range is five feet in all directions around him. Upon teleportation, Phallu leaves an after image behind, which fades when its hit, or after one second. He can combo these teleports up to four times before risking major bodily harm, with each teleport having instantly after the last. The Trackless Step can be used to avoid attacks, or get behind an opponent.

Hidden In Plain Sight - Phallu is capable of hiding his presence, well more specifically, avoid perception. To activate this ability he must not be in the line of sight of the individual he is attempting to hide from. Upon activiating this power, Phallu does not become invisible to who he is hiding from, but instead forces the mind of the one looking for him to simply ignore him. It can be used to hide from multiple individuals.

Drawbacks & Limitations:

True Sense - In order to perceive the world with his True Sense, Phallu must activate it, which takes a few moments. In doing so, he loses the ability to see, hear, smell, touch or taste while the True Sense is active. True Sense as a limited range of 200 feet.

Trackless Step - The Trackless Step can not be used to pass through solid objects such as walls, and can only be used if Phallu can see where he wants to go. Using this to much to soon can cause bodily harm, such as broken bones, damaged internal organs, internal hemeraging and having all the air pushed out of him. While four is his limit of teleports one after the other, by taking a few seconds between them he can stretch this out to 10 every 5 minutes.

Hidden in Plain Sight - Phallu must focus in order to use this, and of that focus is broken, the effect of the power is broken. He also can not do anything that would draw attention (draw weapon, charge, run away), as it to would break the effect.

Weaknesses: Phallu lacks physical strength and the durability to engage opponents head on. While he can fight, he isn't very skilled in hand to hand, marksmanship or fighting with any weapons other than knifes. As such, Phallu isn't much of an effective fighter.

Equipment and weapons:

BACKGROUND

Nationality: Greek
Hometown: Athens

Personality: Phallu may come across as a bit of a harmless trickster, but he does not lack the ability to be serious when he needs to be. He is generally always in a good mood, and is quite friendly, as such he is rarely seen in a negative mood and prefers to keep negative feelings within him and out of sight. He doesn't completely trust others, but he has been working on improving that by attempting to be more willing to trust others. Phallu is also very caring, as such he can't ignore when people are in need of a friend to cheer them up, or to help them through what they are going through. If he makes a mistake, he is quick to apologize and take responsibility. Phallu will however not apologize for being himself. He dislikes being the centre of attention, but is not scared of attention. He however prefers to act in the background. That goes towards showing that he is also quite humble and rarely asks for anything. He shows plenty of respect for those around him, even if they hate him. Phallu is clever, wise enough to know what he can and can't do and has remarkable patience. As such he will rarely act without thinking, unless it involves protecting a child. When faced with those who wish to belittle him, verbally or physically, he tends to just ignore them with a smile.

Bio:
Phallu doesn't remember his parents, nor does he really remember a life before the streets. His parents, who lived like hermits, refusing medical help even when his mother gave birth to Phallu, died when he was 6, and he found himself thrown into the life of a street child. He wouldn't have survived if not for a gang of street children, known as the Scarlet Jackals, took him in. The first few years on the street was difficult, but he eventually got used to it when he quickly learned four skills that would aid him in surviving the streets.

First, he learned the art of the distraction, keeping the attention of tourists and passerby's while other children picked their pockets. Second he learned how to pick pockets while strangers were distracted and without a distraction. Third, Phallu learned how to beg, which lead to him learning the fourth skill, the art of getting away and hiding. He was also taught the basic of how to fight, but did not excel in it. He was also taught knife fighting, which he was slightly better at then hand to hand.

The hiding part was something that Phallu was very good at, more so than other street kids. In fact, you could have said it was one of his powers, as it was. He discovered this power one day on the streets, when he was running from the authorities who where after him for begging, as it was illegal in Greece. In his attempt to escape he turned the wrong corner, and right into a dead end alley. He had no where to go or hide, so he stood their, hoping that they wouldn't come turn that corner.

When they did, Phallu froze in fear, and his head completely emptied. He stood there, and watched as they looked directly at him, and then turned around after not being able to find him. Once they were gone, the young Phallu was left to try and figure out what happened. He needed answers, so when he returned to the Scarlet Jackals, he asked the oldest members if they had any idea what happened.

It was then they learned that Phallu had powers. From that moment on, they worked on figuring out what Phallu's power was, and how he could use it. They eventually figured it out, and as such made use of it. That was to move up from picking pockets and begging, and to take what they needed, so they used Phallu's power, and had him go into shops not long before close. Once the shops closed, Phallu would still be inside them, and as such, he could open the doors for the rest of the Scarlet Jackals.

So began the crime spree of the Scarlet Jackals, which brought not only the authorities but other criminal groups down on them. While they could escape from most of these conflicts, there came a day when they couldn't. It was that day, when Phallu was 11, that he discovered his other two powers. You see, he was tired that day, so upon closing his eyes as the rest of the Scarlet Jackals went through their most recent target's shop.

Upon closing his eyes, he felt a strange sensation. A sensation that was like falling unconscious, but still remaining conscious. Basically he lost all connections to his five main senses, and could feel the presence of a group of people approaching. Upon feeling this, he opened his eyes and told the Scarlet Jackals what he felt. They had no reason not to believe him, so they all made their way out of the building, only to run into the approaching group of criminals.

They soon found themselves surrounded, and forced to fight. Fighting was never really Phallu's strong suit, but when your life is on the line, you'd be surprised what people can accomplish. It just so happened it wasn't enough. Soon, there was only a few members of the Scarlet Jackals remaining in the fight, and Phallu was among them. When their leader fell, he gave them all one last order, run and survive. So, they all dropped what they had been carrying, and attempted to make a run for it.

Most didn't get away as they were all surrounded, but some members of the Scarlet Jackals managed to slip by the enemies as they were more agile. Phallu didn't manage to run past them, or get out like the others. Instead, he found himself one second about to be grabbed, and the next behind the guy who was trying to grab him. Phallu did not question it at the time, instead he focused on getting away, and that he did.

He would return to the Scarlet Jackals hideout to find that he was now the oldest member of the gang, and found himself taking a leadership role. He continued to train his abilities, and his skills, while running the Scarlet Jackals. He did what was necessary to provide for the other street children that where now under his charge. They occasionally sought the aid of charities, but due to the fact that many of the Scarlet Jackals distrusted adults for various reasons and the fact that charities are not a permanent solution, they did not rely on charities and continued to fend for themselves mostly. Part of what was necessary was for the Scarlet Jackals to fade back into obscurity. So they did, returning to just being a group of street children that would beg, and occasionally pick the pockets of unsuspecting tourists.

However, when Phallu was 17, things changed. A number of street children started to disappear, which to most people went unnoticed, but Phallu noticed, and so did all the other street children, and homeless folk. Knowing that this would continue, and that the authorities would not really look into it, Phallu decided to investigate. It took a while, but he eventually discovered what was happening. He expected to discover a group of human traffickers, but was surprised when that was not the case. No, this was not human trafficking, the disappearing street children were being kidnapped by someone, and were being turned into a secret army of mindless soldiers.

But who was turning all these children into mindless soldiers? Phallu needed to know, before he made the decision to report this to the authorities. He continued his investigation, making use of his powers even more now, and found the mastermind. After observing the mastermind, who Phallu didn't know at the time was a meta-human terrorist known as Marionette, he got a general idea of how the mastermind was turning the children into mindless soldiers. It was a sort of mind control from what Phallu could tell, and he figured that if someone took out Marionette, then the children should all be free.

Now, Phallu was faced with a decision to make. Did he get out of here, and report this to the authorities? Or did he attempt to take Marionette alone? Well, Marionette was an adult, therefore most likely physically stronger and more experience in combat than Phallu. But Phallu didn't know that Marionette was rather physically weak, poor fighter, and that Marionette made his name by having others do the fighting for him. So, fighting alone was a massive risk. But if he left this to the authorities, who knows how many of those children under Marionette's control would die, and who knows how many of the authorities would die.

There was a third option, report the actions of Marionette, and then attempt to take Marionette down before the authorities came. Such an action would likely save lives if he managed to take Marionette down. If he failed, he would likely fall under Marionette's control, but the authorities would come and stop Marionette, saving all the remaining children on the streets.

With three options, and a quick listen to his gut, he made his choice. Slipping out of Marionette's hide out, and into the nearest store, Phallu made a call. He explained what he saw, where he saw it and that he, the Crimson Shadow, was going to try to stop it. Before they could say anything to him over the phone, Phallu hung up, and returned to Marionette's hideout. He sneaked back in, and found his way to Marionette. Releasing one of his homemade smoke bombs, the room filled with smoke as he engaged Marionette.

When the authorities arrived, and the smoke cleared, they found Marionette unconscious and a heavily wounded, but alive Phallu. Phallu was rushed to a hospital and Marionette was taken into custody and handed over to Argus. The children that where under Marionette's control had also fallen unconscious when Marionette was defeated, but upon waking up they showed no sign of being under Marionette's control.

While Phallu was in the hospital, he had his blood tested finally, and was registered as a meta-human. The authorities finally had a face for the Crimson Shadow, and where willing to take him into custody once he recovered. However, someone leaked that Phallu was responsible for informing the authorities where Marionette was, and that he was the one who took Marionette down. So, depsite the fact that Phallu was confined to a hospital bed during his recovery, he got plenty of press attention and visitations by journalists asking questions of him. One of the most common questions he got was why he did what he did, and he always gave the same answer, "If I left it for the authorities, who knew how many children under that persons control would have died. Maybe none, but maybe a large number of them. That was not a risk I wanted to take. But if there was a chance to reduce the possibility of those children dying, I would take that risk, and I did. If I could take that guy down, then maybe his control would break and no children would have to die. If I failed, then at least I tired."

Before the local authorities could make any legal actions against Phallu, Argus took him. Phallu was expecting to face a fine or prison time from Argus, but they didn't. Instead, they reached out to Cypher, and Phallu found himself faced with two question and one decision. Did he want to be a hero? He never really thought about it. He didn't really like the attention, but he did want to protect others. So ultimately he answered that question with a yes. The next question he was faced with was why did he want to be a hero? Well, he had power, and it is the responsibility of those with power to protect those who need it.

Finally he was faced with a choice, a decision that needed to be made. He was offered the chance to attend the William J. Nantz Institution, and train to be a hero. He took sometime to think it over, and came to a decision. He would take this chance, only if he could arrange for the Scarlet Jackals to be looked after. He was not going to abandon them, so if he couldn't arrange for food, shelter, education and protection to be provided for the Scarlet Jackals, he would refuse. So, he asked if Argus could provide it. They said no, but they could arrange it.

So it was arranged, and Phallu had a conversation with the other children of the Scarlet Jackals. He argued for them to trust the adults that would be coming to provide for them, and if they couldn't, to trust him. Some were willing to either trust the adults that would provide for them, but the majority put their trust in Phallu. There were some however who couldn't, and left the Scarlet Jackals, which did sadden Phallu, but he couldn't stop them as it was their decision. So, with the Scarlet Jackals set to be looked after, he left for the William J. Nantz Institution, aiming not only to become a hero, but one that the Scarlet Jackals and Phallu himself could be proud of.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Fears/Phobias: Failing to protect those he cares for and failing to protect those who can't protect themselves are his two main fears.
Skills: Pickpocket, Master of distraction, very good at reading people, fairly skilled with throwing knives and his tactical knife. He does have basic knowledge of hand to hand, but isn't very good at it. He is also highly skilled in the art of running away, hiding and generally not being seen. Due to running away a lot and hiding a lot, Phallu is quite quick, and agile. He possess a lot of stamina and has been shown to possess a great skills in acrobatics. Phallu also learned on the street how to make his own smoke bombs, and Metsubushi Eggs. While he isn't exactly skilled in fighting, he does know how to make use of the element of surprise for an effective sneak attack. Phallu speaks both English and Greek.

So, I currently have two powers:

Plasma Lance: Concentrates hydrogen and helium and collapses them into a directed beam of plasma through a fusion reaction. Radiation is absorbed by the user to fuel an auxillary power yet to be named.

or

Magmakinesis: Manipulation of molten metal/iron.

Which should I go with?

Both are... Destructive, but the plasma Lance would be OP af. And have lots of complications besides killing the user by boiling them alive unless they also have heat resistance, etc, and there is very very very tiny amounts of helium in the atmosphere (and fusion doesn't use hydrogen and helium together, the lowest level of fusion is deuterium and tritium and tritium isn't common except for some remote regions of Earth)

With magmakinesis where will the molten metal come from?

With the magmakinesis I was thinking that the meta could cause metal to melt by touching it (Not innate, can be turned on and off.)

Nothing to say about the name, no.

But invisibility and teleporting in tandem is a worrying combination of powers.

They've been run by Cyber. And it isn't exactly invisibility... but that's just splitting hairs. Either way, he can't really use both in tandem, as the Trackless Step would be break the Hidden in Plain Sight, and then he'll need to get out of line of sight. Also, making any aggressive move breaks the Hidden in Plain Sight.

So long as the weaknesses actually come up in the RP.
