Make them reasonable and limit them roughly to modern tech.

Code: Select all
(If you've not been in AWH before, I'm requiring you to be a 1st year, but returning players can be more advanced years)

Are there specific requirements of characters that we played before in AWH in order to be of higher years like 3rd and 4th?

No, but you can make a brand new character and put them in any year because you as a player have been in awh before.

But the rules and banned powers still apply of course.

EDIT: I made a mistake on the application form, you may only place your characters up to year 3 due to plot reasons, I'm sorry everyone.

INSTRUCTOR FILE

Name: Drakus Wilsford
Alias: N/A
Age: He looks 45. He's somewhere around 700.
Year: Instructor.
Gender: Male.

Powers:
  • Grandmaster of magic, which is sort of implied considering he's the magic instructor at the school.
Drawbacks & Limitations:
  • He's not some monster of combat, in his human form.
  • His Va'am form severely limits the type of magic he can perform to mostly primal spells, nothing extremely advanced.

Weaknesses: More to follow on this.

Equipment and weapons:
  • M1911 handgun.
  • A very special flintlock pistol, with only one round of ammunition. More on this later.
  • Assorted magical objects and books.

BACKGROUND

Nationality: Va'am, so not of this planet.
Hometown: Not here.

Personality: Mildly eccentric and energetic, Drakus always manages to maintain a half-smile, half-smirk on his face that reveals he might know more than he lets on, at all times. He enjoys teaching and imparting his knowledge on all those who will listen, and has a tendency to ramble on about a subject he is passionate about for far too long. However, he is extremely goal-oriented in terms of his own personal gain. If he sees an opportunity to advance his standing in the world or in whatever society he is a part of, he will take it. A careful strategist and tactician, he tends to plan any move he makes far in advance, making him give off the vibe of a measured - yet exciting - individual. He rarely shows any form of negative emotion, and instead tends to maintain a neutral state of mind on most everything. Often, he will play Devil's Advocate simply for the purpose of seeing every angle of a situation. He tends to keep his circle small, and will only truly confide in a select few people.

Bio: Born on a Va'am planet some seven centuries ago, Drakus begin life in a tribe of Va'am who were considered to be "mystics". They had an inherent connection with what the Va'am called "Pervichnaya Ploskost", the Place of Power. The source of all magical energy, it allowed users to perform feats that were exceptional even by Va'am standards. Kalic's tribe, however, was doomed before he was even born. A target of xenophobia and tribalism, they were massacred not long after Drakus himself had been granted childhood status. Being the only survivor, he fled to one of the many Va'am metropolises, trying to scrape out a living as a street urchin and practitioner of cheap magical tricks. However, he saw his opportunity for a better life when the Va'am began their emigration process to Earth. As part of the "First Wave" of Va'am immigrants, Drakus bounced around from country to country for centuries, living off of what he could and consistently practicing his magic.

It was in the late 1800s when he met a younger Bram Stoker and the two became very close friends. Convinced that he could make an incredible amount of money, Drakus forged a story about "Vampires" to Bram, and the character Dracula was born. Never taking true credit for it, Drakus let Bram take the fame and fortune and continued on with his existence.

Drakus was soon noticed by several magical organizations around the globe, and was taken in by one named "Eventide". They helped him develop what he already knew, and he rose to become one of the youngest(relatively) Grandmasters of Magic in the known world. He now spends his time teaching young upstart heroes about why magic is more than just card tricks and escaping handcuffs while hanging upside down.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Fears/Phobias: Students trying to sleep with him.
Skills:
  • Creative thinker and masterful painter and writer.
  • Fluent in several languages, including three dead ones.

STUDENT FILE

Name: Fionn Szabo
Alias: Kaiju
Age: 20
Year: 3rd year
Gender: Lad
Image

Image

Powers:
-Adaptive Transformation: Technically Fionn's primary ability. Upon activation, Fionn's body begins to change. By default, he shifts into something akin to a reptilian form. Scales sprout from his skin, and his teeth and nails sharpen. Aside from enhanced strength and durability, he can leave this power activated as he fights to allow its second ability to work. The transformation continues as Fionn fights, raising his power higher and higher. In addition, the additional changes that develop prioritize adapting to whatever obstacles he is currently facing. Tougher skin and bones against a physically powerful opponent, for instance. Fionn can also assume direct control of his transformation to steer it down a particular path- however, he cannot speed up its pace. He is capable of delaying it, or 'storing' the changes to unleash at a later time.

With Fionn's advanced changes, he may develop additional abilities such as regeneration, bioluminescence, poison or acid generation, bioelectricity, or the ability to change his own color. His transformation has a regenerative effect if he leaves it active- injuries will be swiftly healed as more changes are made. Notably, every change Fionn makes will have a noticeable marine appearance.

The transformation is not a true physical change, but occurs via a dimensional overlay effect- in other words, an entity from an alternate dimension manifesting itself through Fionn's body. This, of course, leaves the question of who or what exactly is behind it. Aside from the bodily changes, Fionn's transformation allows him to create a kind of 'water echo'. The conjuration of water, through the same method as his transformation. It fills the space where his body was before moving, and provides fuel for his second power.

-Hydro-telekinesis: Fionn's most showy and most well-known power. Likely inherited from his father, it's a form of telekinesis with decent range and power. However, the defining aspect of it is its focus- Fionn's telekinesis is strongest when used on water and other liquids. He is capable of manipulating them with finesse and power, the focus shifting with his transformation. While his power can be used on solids, at best he can simply give them a rough nudge.

Drawbacks & Limitations:
-Finesse vs Power: Like many of his powers, Fionn's first weakness is directly affected by how much he changes. At lower transformation levels, he can show a great degree of fine control, forming the liquid into various shapes. At higher levels, he can only manage grand, sweeping displays of power.

-Transformative Reliance: All of Fionn's combative ability is linked to his transformations. Without them, he's only a weak human.

-Nor Any Drop To Drink: Like most Hydrokinetics, Fionn's water manipulation is useless if he's put in an extremely dry environment. While his 'water echo' can reduce this, it takes time to get a suitable amount to work with.

Weaknesses: All drawbacks listed above. Absolutely horrible at stealth- even his color-changing ability, if he has it, can only really work if he stays still. Adaptive process takes time, so heavy nukers can overwhelm him at the start of a fight and put him out of action.

Equipment and weapons: Only what he makes out of his own body.

BACKGROUND

Nationality: Polish-American
Hometown: Portland, Oregon, U.S.A.

Personality: He tries. Fionn tries his best to be positive, as well as to act like a proper hero should when 'field work' is thrust upon him. As he transforms more, his personality fades more and more as he acts less human and more like... somethign else. In school, he's a young adult fiction writer's ideal male protagonist, being both unassuming and nerdy in interests. He has himself a healthy sense of humor as well, though not to the degree that would get one declared a 'class clown'. As it is right now, Fionn mostly prefers to focus on studies and trying to put up the best performance he can when tested. He's less involved in the social aspect of things due to being somewhat secluded, but he's comfortable enough in a group of people.

Fionn is rough on underclassmen, favoring a 'tough love' kind of approach to try and motivate them to push beyond their limits. Or because they're making rookie mistakes that'd get them killed in the field.

Bio: Fionn was not born. He was made. He and his twin sister Seresviel were products of their father's Tinker specialization, created due to their mother's infertility. It's a whole other can of worms to get into the reasons for that, but suffice to say, she wouldn't have ever been able to have children naturally. And yet, through something like a miracle, Elsa Rozen-Szabo married Visionary, one of the only Tinkers capable of artificially growing living things. The twins were the second case- the couple's eldest 'daughter' Eira had already grown and set off on her own path.

Neither Fionn nor Seres were born with the metahuman gene that father and mother both possessed, so they were initially thought to be powerless. At around the time of Incident Gnosis, that changed. With the very first appearance of the massive, inhuman supervillain Yaldabaoth, the twins were two of many people exposed to an event hidden under so many layers of classification that it would make the CIA blush. Their survival was a miracle. The seeming manifestation of metahuman abilities could have been a miracle as well, or perhaps a curse depending on one's point of view. While Fionn is ready and willing to make use of his abilities, Seres is stubbornly reluctant and bedridden.

The reason for Fionn's motivation and Seres' apprehension once more traces back to Yaldabaoth. After his initial appearance, Yaldabaoth fell dormant for some time, and was even tentatively declared neutralized. And then, of course, he awoke once more, rising from the sea and wreaking havoc along the North Pacific Coast. Cities fell, and thousands died in an event almost on par with the St. Petersburg Incident and the Chicago Incident. Local heroes gathered and pooled their efforts to stop Yaldabaoth, or at the very least slow him. Among this number was Portland's local #1, a hero named Ifrit with the power to transform part or all of himself into living flame, and manipulate said flames as they spread. He fought valiantly, corralling the massive villain in fires that blocked off entire streets.

Seres was unlucky enough to be inside the corralled zone at the time, one of a number of unfortunate few. Forced to take physical form in order to extract her, Ifrit perished in his moment of vulnerability as though burned from within- like Yaldabaoth's sickening presence had caused him to spontaneously expire. The huge, amorphous villain fixed its gaze on Seres, slowly billowing towards her- and then, she was pulled from the flames. His sister's peril had prompted Fionn's metahuman abilities to awaken fully, as fireproof scales dotted his skin and the Willamette answered to his call, a torrent of water to take the place of the flames. The awakening spread to Seres, and a blast of cold emanated from her- the churning liquid froze solid, a barrier just tough enough to allow the two of them to flee like the devil was on their heels.

The unofficially named Portland Incident cost many, many lives- and the villain behind it had been impossible to contain once again. Seres had been left chronically ill, likely due to Yaldabaoth's presence near her for too long. Fionn had been left with nothing but a deep thirst for vengeance, and a deep drive to be a hero that wouldn't fail. So, eventually, he was enrolled in the William Nantz Institution, quickly proving himself to be something of a rising star amongst the students- almost considered a mirror of Nick Fowler, or 'Cypher's Protege' as some would've said. What started as a rivalry became a friendship. Allen Crane and Danica Nikitich would later also be proven to have similar potential, and a kind of tight-knit comradery formed between the Four's Four, as they might have been called due to being a group of four members of Training Team Four.

Fionn still thinks of his sister and of Yaldabaoth, but having friends has somewhat cooled the flames of vengeance, honing them into a laser-sharp focus on his unwavering goal of becoming one of heroism's finest.

BACKGROUND

Nationality: French
Hometown: Domrémy-la-Pucelle
Personality: Impish yet soft-hearted.

Bio: Thirteen year old Alice Bélanger was a normal girl from the town that was the birthplace of Saint Joan. Her life and studies were going well and she had some flare as a performer.

Alice's parents allowed her to apprentice under a famous theatrical illusionist, The Great Zomboni.

Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, Zamboni was actually a real magician and not just a showman. He knew many things and had a number of curious artifacts. One of these was a magick necklace, which, after Zamboni was satisfied with Alice's moral fiber, he "attuned" it to the girl for her exclusive use.

With the necklace, Alice learned that she could shrink to quite a small size, sprout insect like wings and fly. She could also shrink objects, up to twice her own weight, as well as a willing person, so long as they stayed near, within about a meter.

Alice's magick necklace allowed the pair to simulate more death-defying tricks and Alice became an extremely talented illusionist in her own right.

However, after one amazing performance, the authorities tried to detain them. Zomboni fled and hasn't been seen since. The authorities learned the truth about Alice's abilities. It was strongly suggested that when she turned eighteen that she join a program designed to teach her how to use her powers for good.

so I got some powers that I want to try out but I can only pick one to balance between other rps:

increase and decrease of the melting and burning point of objects paired with basic pyrokinetics

frost aura where temperatures drop -80 degrees paired up with the ability to inflict frostbite through direct touch

a technocratic robot metahuman genius

I can even bring back Katyusha and her minigun again.

That's mainly because I've integrated a section of the tinker part into her directly.

Alright, so I did some math, and I don't think the fat inducement would necessarily have the effects that you seem to think it would. Even with 175% in fat deposits, an atheletic male weighing 180 lbs would probably have a % body fat of 6%. This translates to 10.8 lbs of fat. A 175% increase would only be 18 extra lbs of fat, so all in all not that much.

As your power is stated, it really doesn't make sense.

Name: Charles Kemp
Alias: To be determined
Age: 20
Year: Year 3
Gender: Male
Image

Image

Powers:
  • Pyrokinesis - Able to create and manipulate fire, primarily from his hands, but also to engulf himself in flame without harm. These flames can get up to the point where they can melt steel.
  • Super strength - Charles is capable of lifting up to fifty tons at most, but as his strength is exponential compared to a normal human, this can increase and decrease. This strength also effects his other physical capabilities, such as running and jumping.
  • Super Durability - Charles has skin that can endure large round ammunition and even stabs up until extreme pressures.
  • Slow regenerative capabilities - Charles can heal at an alarming rate, but not really wolverine style alarming rate. A large enough wound can take a few days to heal.

Drawbacks & Limitations:
  • Charles is quite short tempered and not all too intelligent, and thus can be manipulated.
  • Charles has very little agility. He can be easily outmaneuvered, and has trouble turning while running.
  • Any large ammunitions and large forces can still injure him, just somewhat less so than a normal human being.
  • His regenerative process is very much slower with internal organs, primarily the brain.

Weaknesses:
[list]
[*] In addition to the above information, Charles is susceptible to psychic attacks

Equipment and weapons: (please list, if applicable)

BACKGROUND

Nationality: English
Hometown: Stone Cross, Kent

Personality:
Charles can be quite laid back at times, but this is a common demeanor that masks his ability to become quickly angered and aggressive. He is not a very good people person, especially due to having high functioning Asperger's syndrome, but appreciates having people he likes around. As large as he is, he is almost insatiable in his appetite, and food is the quickest way to his heart. He is very protective of his friends, and, while quite hot headed, is rather quite humble in his own way.

Bio:
For the most part of his youth, Charles lead a quiet life in the small village of Stone Cross in Kent, out in the quiet countryside. Charles was homeschooled, with a particular interest in Arthurian legends and surrounding lore. In particular, the idea of the English Warlord Vortigern had struck his interest in youth, despite what little knowledge there was of the figure. Charles' father, a blacksmith, had helped Charles forge various pieces of armor and weaponry, in hopes that Charles could attend various Renaissance festivals and such things. And so he did. Charles found himself quite talented in jousting and combat, but eventually, he would find that his normal life would disappear before his very eyes. At twenty years of age, Charles had gotten in a fight in London in an attempted mugging that was set upon him. It was here that he first discovered his powers. After tanking a few bullets, and burning a man's face, not only were the attackers arrested, but himself as well. After some amount of questioning, he found himself viable for a very certain program for individuals as young and unique as himself. Sometime throughout his first year in enrollment, Charles' father suffered a fatal injury in a car accident, and passed the night Charles came to visit him.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Fears/Phobias: Has some amount of social anxiety.
Skills: Decent streetfighter and boxer, some skill with melee weapons and a decent horseman.

Name: Jove “Jay” Anderial
Alias: J.H. (an abbreviation of Jekyll and Hyde) with a potential emblem
Age: 18
Year: 1st
Gender: Male

Powers: Powers :
  1. Jove: Naturally, and the majority of the time, Jay exists as “Jove” an affable, humorous teenage boy who likes to talk to people and make them smile. Jove is a telepath, possessing several abilities that fall underneath that superpower-umbrella. He has these powers because of the dark telepathic being, Summanus, that lives inside his mind.
    1. Psychic Communication: Jove can speak to other people via a pre-established psionic connection with their mind. The other person may converse with Jay by “talking in their head,” basically emphasizing one’s thoughts allows Jay to latch onto to that thought like a conversation. A connection can be established by physical contact of any sort, most of the time Jove will bump up against or touch the hand of people he feels he may need to contact, touch does not have to be skin-to-skin. Jay may establish communication links with animals, though undomesticated, untrained beasts respond poorly to hearing a human voice in their head. Some dogs and cats respond well, listening obediently, while others panic as Jay gives them commands from a distance, rendering his powers useless.
    2. Emotional Synesthesia: One form of synesthesia is the perception of color when one is exposed to smells. Similar to this, Jove’s telepathic abilities have linked colors and emotions in his mind. When Jove perceives the mind of another person, who he must be able to see or be feet away from, he sees colors as he evaluates their emotions. Anger, defying stereotypes, is light blue; lust is gray; brotherly love is purple; and so on and so forth. These colors present themselves to Jove visually, and his eyes may glaze over as he sifts through the nebula of colors that fill a person’s mind. As Jove navigates another person or animal’s emotions they will experience an uncomfortable feeling, similar to what it feels like to have someone scrolling through your private belongings unrestricted.
    3. Sensory Scrying: The restrictions on this ability are the same as the restrictions on Jove’s psychic communication. This power is underdeveloped since it is the one Jay uses the least in casual settings. When he has established a psychic link with another being he can experience the world as they are experiencing it. Jove’s scrying is restricted to sight, touch, and taste. He cannot yet hear or smell what another being is hearing or smelling, which sometimes is a good thing.
  2. Summanus: A shadow being, a dark entity, and an inter-dimensional monstrosity: all of those are suitable descriptors for Summanus. The being, which is as dark as ink and moves through darkness in the corner of one’s eye, possesses Jove. It rests in his mind, waiting for moments of weakness in order to break into the material plane. When Jay is injured or under extreme emotional duress Summanus leaps forth from the boy’s mind, darkness pouring out of Jove’s mouth and eyes as the creature takes its form. When it is loose Jove has no control over his body, but can see through Summanus’ eyes as the creatures wreaks psychological havoc. The being has a unique set of powers, similar to Jove’s because the boy derives his own powers from the beast that torments him.
    1. Telepathic Speaking: Any being that Summanus is near may fall victim to his “speaking.” In reality, that term is far too civilized for the horrendous screeching noises and horrific sounds the monster projects into its victims’ minds. These sounds have great volume, and Summanus delights in driving creatures mad by subjecting them to terrible, prolonged sounds that torture the mind and cause it to deteriorate.
    2. Emotion Manipulation: Any being that has established a physical connection with Jove is subject to Summanus’ emotional manipulation. This is low-level, since the beast cannot create emotion, but only amplify negative emotions already present in one’s mind. For example, Summanus cannot make a person angry at their spouse, but they can make a person that is already angry at their spouse more angry.
    3. Image Projection: Summanus can project terrifying images into the mind of creatures within 150 meters from it. These images can be comforting, but the dark creature has no concept of “comfort,” and only gives people images meant to shake them to their core. These images will flash before a person’s eyes for a second or two, like unrelated still images spliced into film. Any emotional trauma caused by these images is not induced by Summanus, though he may amplify negative emotions that the images cause. Some individuals write off the images Summanus gives them while others allow a host of negative emotions to flood over them, giving the monstrosity a lot of material to work with.

    Drawbacks & Limitations:
    1. Jove: While himself there are many limitations that are placed on the array of powers that Jove possesses. These stem from his own physical limitations and his novice status when it comes to using his powers.
      1. Psychic Communication: Right now, Jove can only communicate with a person or an animal if they are within 400 meters of his person. Any distance greater than 350 meters can lead to a “patchy” psychic connection, meaning Jove may not be able to clearly distinguish what a person is trying to say to him or vice versa. Also, to create a psychic link between his mind and another Jove must first come into physical contact with the person/animal with whom he is trying to communicate. Oftentimes, Jove will tap people on the shoulder the first time he meets them, and this makes him seem really weird.
      2. Emotional Synesthesia: When Jove utilizes this ability it requires him to focus in an intense way, causing him to become distracted and susceptible to physical attacks. Additionally, it is very easy for someone to detect that something is off when Jove is examining their aura, meaning that it is not extremely useful for spying on people if they are aware of his abilities. Some people with given superpowers, especially telepathic powers, would easily be able to locate and identify Jove when he uses this particular power.
      3. Sensory Scrying: There is a slight delay to Jove’s experience of something, which increases 0.3 seconds for every 50 meters he is separated from his target. Additionally, along with the lag the ability is only effective up to 400 meters away, similar to his psychic communication, but unlike that ability Jove does not need to establish a physical connection to use this power. When Jove is scrying an individual’s senses he must maintain a high level of concentration, usually staying immobile, and his presence is undetectable unless the target is a telepath.
    2. Summanus: The dark inter-dimensional being locked away within Jay’s mind has its own set of drawbacks and limitations to the powers it wields. The main one being that it cannot cause physical harm unless it exists in a being’s mind, so Jay is the only being it can harm, which would be counterproductive since his physical well-being is tied to Summanus. Summanus cannot be active for no longer than an hour, as Jove usually recuperates from emotional challenges in that timeframe. It is a powerful being but its link to this world is weak, so it must remain close to Jove, its only refuge in this light-filled world. If Summanus is released because of physical injury to Jove the being is weaker, since it is tied to the boy, but may be active for longer depending on the severity of the injury that its host has been afflicted with. Another reason Summanus may retreat back into Jove’s mind is if it is too tired, the boy’s mind serves as a haven of sorts, allowing the creature to rest and recharge. Jay may not wake up immediately if Summanus has re-entered his mind because it is tired since he may still require time to recover at that point.
      1. Telepathic Speaking: Summanus can only effectively torture those 25 meters or closer to him with sound, reducing the effectiveness of this ability. Summanus can use this ability for 15 minutes on one person without tiring, but if the mental dexterity of the individual it is torturing is high the ability will quickly lose its effectiveness.
      2. Emotional Manipulation: Summanus cannot create emotions with this power, only amplifying existing emotions, but it may use this ability in tandem with telepathic speaking to create and amplify a sense of fear. This power is extremely taxing on Summanus, the creature can only use it for less than five minutes without needing to retreat to Jove to recharge for a long period of time. Similar to telepathic speaking the being has to be within 25 meters of the victim for the power to work as well as it possibly can.
      3. Image Projection: Summanus’ most powerful, but most draining, ability can be effective from up to 150 meters away. However, if Summanus were to use the power for a few seconds on a mental dexterous person the maximum distance away it would immediately have to retreat back into Jove. At most, he can flash a few images to one or two people before retreating into Jove is necessary.

    Weaknesses:
    1. Jove’s mind, his subconscious and conscience, are constantly at war with the evil influence of Summanus’ being. His human nature and the beast are constantly at odds, which causes disruptions in the teenager’s mind. He has near-constant headaches, and sometimes the entity inside his head attempts to overthrow his conscious state; Summanus is not whole enough to overthrow Jove when the boy is healthy and well-rested, but these coup attempts can cause issues in concentration and memory. The headaches can make concentrating on the use of his powers more difficult, and sometimes he may lose control of his abilities until his migraines stop.
    2. Light, the natural opposition to a shadow like Summanus, is the creature’s greatest weakness. The beast is heavily affected by light, experiencing intense pain when exposed to bright lights that nullifies its powers. Light causes the creature psychological, as well as physical pain, since its mind cannot fully comprehend light and the guidance it provides. Jay does not experience physical pain with Summanus, but when the beast is loose and feels pain from light his mental link with the creature causes the boy to feel the psychological pain of Summanus. This results in splitting headaches and concussion-like symptoms for Jove, the duration of the symptoms depending on how long Summanus was exposed to light before it retreated back to Jove.
    3. Jove’s telepathic abilities leave much to be desired. His range is severely limited, and there are certain individuals that would pose a great deal of trouble to Jay. If he were to try and scry, communicate, or empathize with someone of far superior intelligence, someone with absurd morals, or an individual with a completely illogical mind he would be overwhelmed and not be able to effectively use his powers against that person.

Equipment and weapons:
  1. Jay makes it a priority to carry around a first-aid kit in his backpack at all time, well-stocked with the necessary bandages, gauze, antiseptics, etc.
  2. A copy of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition. It is a topic of great interest to Jove, and he always has his heavily annotated copy of the book nearby.

BACKGROUND

Nationality: American
Hometown: Chicago, Illinois

Personality: Jove is a likeable young man. He likes to make jokes, talk about books that he’s read, songs that he’s listened to, or something he saw on TV. He likes to care for other people, having worked as a lifeguard in the past, and hates the potential emotional harm that he can do to those people around him. He likes to go with the flow, avoiding as much emotional duress as possible, but sometimes his near-constant worry gets in the way of successful social interactions.

Bio: Jove has lived a normal life, apart from being possessed by an inter-dimensional terror. He has two step-siblings, neither of them have any sort of superpowers. He has attended public schools in the suburban area surround Chicago, Illinois for his entire life. He is an above average student, taking interest in English and social sciences, especially. He has a sobering level of maturity for someone his age, mainly because of the predicament his father landed him in when he was six years old.

When Jove was a young child he had a speech disorder, he would not speak to anyone, even though he had spoken words as an infant. The disorder first manifested when Jove was two years old, when he rapidly regressed in speech after formulating basic sentences like any child would. His parents, a jeweler and museum curator, entered their son into speech therapy when he was three years old, finally at the end of their wits and admitting to themselves Jove was not going to magically improve. Sadly, he did not progress as rapidly as his father had hoped. He constantly moved his son from therapist to therapist, which harmed the boy more than it helped, since he had to grow accustomed to his new helper and their methods rapidly. Except Jove’s father never gave his son enough time to grow and develop, being an incredibly rash man who liked to finish things as quickly as possible. This distressed his mother greatly, but she was always overruled by the Anderial patriarch. After two years of moving his son around Mr. Anderial was at the end of his wits. He was frustrated, angry, and disgusted with the system his son was in and the boy himself. The Anderial family was not religious, his father was a lapsed Catholic and his mother left her faith to be with him, but Mr. Anderial quickly turned to mystical methods to help his son when he grew sick enough of traditional medicine. At the beginning these techniques were relatively harmless, mixing up strange potions meant to enhance mental capacity and feeding them to his son. Jove could hardly stomach many of his father’s concoctions, oftentimes vomiting them up afterwards, but the household was full of strange smells coming from the kitchen on most days.

However, the atypical methods Mr. Anderial used took a dark turn following several months of alchemical failures. He began praying to higher authorities, begging for his son to be “fixed.” In reality, Jay was progressing well at school. He would not speak until he turned eight, but he scored well in reading and math, mental examinations at school determined he was on pace to develop into an above average child, just one that did not speak. Mrs. Anderial tried to tell her husband this, since his activity scared her and some of the neighbours. Her husband would not listen though, and he continued praying to anyone he thought would listen, sometimes reaching out to dark powers. Mr. Anderial would frequent the library looking for more resources, looking for some other authority that could make his son speak. Eventually, he stumbled upon a book of secrets, a small tome shoved into the corner of the shelf on the library’s top floor. In the volume he read about a ritual, something meant to “unlock” and the distressed, mad father thought he could “unlock” his son’s voice with the ritual. One night when his wife was asleep Mr. Anderial took his son, taking the boy from their home to a field where he had prepared the necessary items for the ritual. This event still has ramifications on Jove’s life, he still has flashbacks of being gagged and thrown into the back of the family’s truck to this day. The ritual commenced after several last-minute preparations were made. Jove has never discussed exactly what happened that night, but his father died and he was possessed by Summanus. At first, Summanus did not know it was tied to Jove, going on a mental rampage through the nearby houses, giving night terrors and horrible visions to dozens of people. However, when Jove regained consciousness in the police station the next morning the dark being was ripped through space, many miles into the boy’s head. Police officers present reported that, “it was terrible. [Jove’s] mouth opened like he was screaming, but no noise would come out instead something went into him. It was like the darkest water I’ve ever seen, flooding into his mouth, eyes, and ears until it seemed like his head would burst open.” Officers had arrived at the field several hours after the ritual finished, having received reports from many of the people Summanus was terrifying. They found his father cleaved in two, and Jove unconscious at the center of some circle. Jove has no clue what exactly Summanus is. He has no dialogue with the beast, though sometimes he speaks aloud or in his head to the dark presence.

Jove did not know there was anything locked inside of him until he was eight years old. It was after he had started speaking (after the ritual his mother kept him at the same speech therapist for more than a few months and it worked, very surprising). He crashed his bike, breaking his ankle, and Summanus lept forth, having been locked up for almost two years, and terrorized the neighbourhood for several minutes before Jay regained consciousness. Mrs. Anderial was a witness to this, seeing the beast come out of her son and go back in. Her and Jove had a long conversation following that day, and every day since then he has been aware of his situation. Slowly, his powers began to develop following the second time Summanus came forth. At 10 he had his first mental conversation with his mother. At thirteen he developed his emotional synesthesia, the rough waters of puberty unlocking the empathic ability inside him. A year following that he first scried his mother’s senses, and the two had a long conversation about the boundaries for that ability. He has maintained a close circle of friends throughout high school, and almost all of them know about his abilities. Sometimes the teenagers have conversations across the school during class, and use his powers for other goofy things teenagers would. Most of his friends have seen Summanus at least once and been terrorized by the beast. Jove always explains the risk to people he grows close to, and has become closer with many of his friends because of Summanus’ attacks.

His mother remarried when he was 15. He adores his step-father, Craig, and his two step-siblings, having known them for several years before he became officially related to them. All three of them understand Jove and his predicament, if they did not that would have been a deal breaker for his mother. Following an instant when Summanus harmed a lot of people at a hotel Jove was placed on a government watchlist, eventually receiving an invite to the academy. Following several days of consideration he accepted the offer, and cannot wait to develop and control his powers and Summanus more.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Fears/Phobias: Jay is afraid of damaging people; he has suffered a great deal mentally and emotionally, and sometimes he has brought suffering to other people. He despises himself and Summanus for what has been done in that past and fears that it may roll over into the present and future. Jay is afraid of the dark because it is the hidden areas of the world and his mind that Summanus travels through. The teenager has never seen Summanus’ full body since he only sees its actions, but he hates the creature for what it does and what it has made him watch. Fear is an important element to this hatred too. Jove knows he is weaker than Summanus, that the beast’s telepathic abilities are far superior to his, and he is afraid that one day he will lose control and never regain it.
Skills: Jove worked as lifeguard in high school, so he is a talented swimming and first aid practioner.

I can even bring back Katyusha and her minigun again.

The first one seems tricky to use and could be very OP without limit. Second one could be okay.

Gotta be human, so third is out.

Miniguns are easily impractical

So just a heads up for everyone, my new work schedule takes up more time than I thought, so during the work week I may be limited in my interactions, so I want to preemptively apologize if it takes me a few hours to get back to you. If it seems like I'm ignoring you I'm probably not: it's more likely I forgot or became distracted.

As for the IC, I'm looking at this Saturday or Friday night to be the earliest I'll have it ready.
