Population: In 1910 the entirety of the U.S had a population of 92,228,496 so dividing it by three got me a population of 30,742, 832.
Capital City: Roundheads Hope (formerly Charlestown, Massachusetts Bay).
This new settlement was chosen at first as a temporary capital in order to prevent stress of administration from being placed upon the city of Boston. It has since flourished as the official capital of the Commonwealth.

Government Type: Formerly, it claimed to be the continuation of the Parliamentarian forces, and government in exile, but has since renounced claims of control over England, Scotland, and Ireland. Since 1670 it is a parliamentarian government with noble titles (tradition since many nobles supported, and were part of the parliamentarian government), and a heavily powered legislature, restricted judiciary, and weak executive. It currently claims to represent all of the English speaking peoples in the Americas...even if there are certain English speaking countries free of the commonwealth for a variety of reasons.

Relations: 1) Neutral, but sympathetic: The German state, partly due to some Parliamentarian officials going off to volunteer within the German revolution. Many became incredibly disgruntled, and horrified following the Germans somewhat disasterous tyranny that followed, and came back while some chose to stay with Germany.
2) Openly Trading: Most of europe, and the rest of the world benefit from Commonweath merchant navies, and trade even the Dominion of Carolina. The latter started out as a pragmatic relationship since Carolina wouldn't have survived its initial years of French, and Spanish pressure had it not ironically been from the very commonwealth they fled from after failing to "restore order in the colonies". There is a growing political sentiment within both countries for a coalition of "independent, English speaking states in the Americas". Following the increasingly restrictive, and somewhat paranoid attitudes of the English homeland these days.
3) Diplomatically hostile: The Kingdom of Great Britain's goods are banned from all commonwealth ports, and the Commonwealth refuses to humor any diplomatic missions between the two. This status has been central to the doctrine of the Commonwealth, but some moderate propose at least attempting diplomatic relations with "the old mother". Its not to say that there aren't those in the home islands who aren't wanting reconciliation with the Commonwealth as well.
4) Friendly: New France, and the Republic of Louisiana have affable relations with the Commonwealth especially following normalization of borders after the "War of Ruperts Land". This was followed by their support of the Commonwealth against Carolinian, and British forces in the
"Delaware War".

State Religion: Christianity, albeit officially there is no sect that is the exclusive membership of the state.
A) The Purified Church: Descended from the Puritans who ruled from the time of Cromwell, and the early commonwealth they have converged into a unified force.
*Agreement with Calvinism over double predestination, and covenant theology.
* Conversion is viewed as an intense process of contrition, listening to preaching, introspection, and bible study. Ultimately the Purified Church believes that the born again believer will become increasingly sanctified through piety, and humility in the faith.
* The purified church rejects all sacraments except for baptism, and the lords supper.
* The Purified church believes in strict adherence of the sabbath.
* Choral music, and instrument are rejected in place of singing of the psalms.
* Establishment of a national church to further the work of the saints, and believing christians across the world.
* Marriage is rooted in procreation, love, and salvation with its founding going back to adam, and eve. Men exercise household authority in relationship to God while women represented humility, and obedience. Fathers of the household directed the families, and lead them in prayers. That said women had complete control of the house, and raising of the children in regards to their morality, and world outlook.
* Heads of households are required to teach wives, children, and servants basic literacy to better understand the bible. As a result literacy rates in the early commonwealth shot up greatly especially with the founding of many grammar schools on part of the church. The purified church has a high rate of ministers, doctors, and lawyers in its ranks.

History: (Timeline or Synopsis)
The Pre-Commonwealth Era of Exile, and Loss (1646-1658)
* With the defeat of the parliamentarians back in England the naval forces loyal to parliament helped evacuate those still loyal to the cause to the Americas over the process of a year. The remnants of New Model Army, and political factions loyal to Parliament chose to convene a new government within the town of Charles town. Named ironically after King Charles the 1st it was for purposes of sensibility renamed to "Roundheads Hope". The name being a referring to one of the predominant groups of Parliamentarians who championed their cause back during their time in England. The provisional parliament which had convened was more of a formality in order to determine the functions of government, and ensure it had someone strong leading it.
* Oliver Cromwell took the position, and used the remnants of the New Model Army, and the colonial militias to secure New England, and sent letters to the colonies in Canada, Virginia, and the West Indies. The royalist insurrection (1646-1650) followed, but after the destruction of their largest army at Williamsburg in 1649 during the Virginia Campaign the royalists began to wither away. The survivors of the following years reprisals left to start new settlements in the far south. Those settlers are responsible for the Dominion of Carolina which some consider Cromwells greatest mistake in not crushing it early on its existence. Regardless Cromwell spent his administration as "Lord Protector" ensuring the integrity of the government in exile on the basis that one day they would return to England triumphant.
* One of the biggest achievements during Cromwells administration was the seizure of New Netherlands, and New Sweden in order to achieve unification with Virginia. He also commissed the settlement of "New Roanoke" partly as a border territory to keep an eye on the royalist colonists down in "Charles town". Ultimately Cromwells death signaled a change in the political landscape of the government in exile as many began to realize they would grow old, and die in the New World. Some of this came from people analyzing the reality that there simply weren't enough people to launch an offensive into their homeland, and the Absolutists would simply have to be left alone. That being said many adopted the stance of no trading or diplomacy with them as a solution instead of war.
The New Commonwealth (1658-1670)
Following the death of Oliver Cromwell the government convened on what direction the country should take now that their landmark figurehead was gone. The Privy Council of State which normally handled matters of state, and assisted in executive matters had in later years under Cromwells administration become a ceremonial role in the face of the "republican dictator". Manderly Blackstone agreed to host meetings on his property while the Privy Council of State retained its position as state executive leading to an era commonly council "dictatorship by council".
First Blackstone Council (1658-1659): Richard Cromwell, son of Oliver Cromwell would be appointed Lord Protector until elections could be called for the position, but his executive roles outside of warfare, and the military would be severely restricted.
Second Blackstone Council (1660): The provisional parliament which convened for the first few years of Cromwells reign until it was disbanded would be restored. The Lord Protector would summon it once a year for three month sessions until a more permanent solution could be found.
Third Blackstone Council (1662-1664): The roles of the provisional parliament were greatly expanded, and they held a more solid position in the government.
Fourth Blackstone Council (1667-1668): Considered the most prominent of the councils due to the fact the First Articles of the Commonwealth were drafted into law here.
A) The Lord Protector would ultimately retain the title "His Highness, The Lord Protector" in honor of the late Oliver Cromwell. Yet elections were to be scheduled every ten years starting in 1670. The candidate would serve a single term, and be allowed ultimate authority over the military, and state during war time. His executive roles would be severely curtailed during matters of peace time to serve as a ceremonial head of state.
B) Parliament on its own volition would set its end date, but meet for three seperate three month periods led by a speaker chosen by majority lot for each term. The Parliament would be divided into two parts with the commons containing two representatives from each province, and one representative for the house of lords. Regional parliaments were allowed to be set up in order to better handle regional issues, and save time for the national parliament to focus on more important things.
* Acknowledgement of Parliaments responsibility of national taxation.
* A special commission set up to appoint national naval, and army officers to be handled by the parliament alone.
* Property requirements of a small amount in order to qualify for parliament.
* Annual provisioning of a budget for a small national army known as the Commonwealth Model Army, and a small national navy known as the Commonwealth Model Navy. The budget of course would triple during wartime, and the model navy, and army would be operated by the Lord Protector.
C) The "Council of Roundheads Hope" would convene every ten years for suitable members from parliament, and the newly sanctioned Commonwealth Model Army to present the best candidates for Lord Protector, and plead their case to the voters.
D) General Issue of Pardon for those involved in the royalist insurrections.
E) Recognition of provincial sovereignty especially in handling their internal affairs within their boundaries, and how they recruit, maintain, and equipment their personal provincial militias.
F) Renunciation over the claiming of being the legitimate government of England, Scotland, and Ireland in favor of establishing a nation for the "Commonwealth of the English Speaking Americas".
G) Rights of Commonwealth Citizenry
* Freedom from impressment into the military.
* Freedom to vote (one man, one vote).
* Freedom of Consciense.
* Freedom of Equality before the law.
* The right of Commonwealth Citizens to bear weapons for their defense, and to own them with molestation so long as they act as decent citizenry.
* Freedom of any citizen to engage in any, and all speech whether in public, court, or elsewhere in the commonwealth.
* The right to petition the Lord Protector for those who believe they have been unjustly convicted.
* Freedom of citizens to expect decent treatment in prisons without cruel or unusual punishment, and once a court case starts it must prove the accused did the act they are in court for within a speedy amount of time. A random selection of citizens done by lottery to serve as jurors in order to give the accused fair reception for the decision of a verdict is an absolute right.
* Freedom against excessive fines, penalties, and court orders. Citizens cannot be tried twice for the same crimes.
H) Investment in a commonwealth national treasury, and mint.
I) Formation of a Supreme Tribunal, and an Admiralty Court.
J) The Privy Council of State shall handle the following matters with assistance from parliament in session at the time if needed.
*Declaration, Cessation, and Diplomacy during war, and peace time.
* Debts, and damages on a national scale.
* Convening special sessions to handle provincial disputes that are of grave importance if they are a threat to Commonwealth security.
* Acting on the Lord Protectors behalf, and informing parliament of the duties, and responsibilities about to be undertaken with the military.
*Maintaining the treasury, and enforcing national warrents should the need arise following multi-provincial crimes.
K) Establishment of the Christian Faith as the state religion, but limiting its influence, and allowing citizens to choose their sect freely.
L) The establishment of treaties with natives, and compliance with said treaties.
M) Enforcement of citizenship by having a parent of commonwealth citizenship status (citizenship by blood).
O) Enforcement of the various titles noble parliamentarians used so they carry over to the Commonwealth, and can be bestowed by the Privy Council of State for service to the commonwealth.
P) Establishment of a land system awarding frontier land to soldiers, and others who serve the commonwealth valiantly, and giving them modest pensions to live off of.
The Early Commonwealth Era (1670-1700)
The Commonwealth Looks Outward (1700-1750)
* The wave of persecution (1706) under King George the first of the Kingdom of Great Britain causes several things to happen in the Commonwealth. Catholics, and religious, and political dissenters flood into exile in the Commonwealth much to the dismay of some of the more conservative elements of catholic society.
* The Commonwealth's attempt to look outward brought it into wars on many fronts. The war of the cut ear (1739-1748) saw commonwealth naval forces profiteering on behalf of the Dominion of Carolina. Even more unusual was the fact it was a British Captain who started the war after insulting a notably cruel spanish captain. The Dominion of the Carolina used this to enact war on his majesties behalf, and besiege northern florida. Notably the war caused damage to both Spanish, and British possessions that caused them to spend years rebuilding.
* During the era of the war of Austrian succession the theater in North America became embroiled in a particularly nasty conflict. The territory of Ruperts Land which had operated without royal or commonwealth approval began a campaign of successful skirmishes with New France. Commonwealth military forces began assisting Ruperts Land in their private war which soon became known as the Ruperts Land War (1744-1748). The southern portions of the commonwealth were nearly cut off during a 200 day siege of New Amsterdam by French Canadians after failed forays into New France. Ultimately reinforcements led an assault into New France, and captured Montreal by 1748 before peace talks began to be brokered in Detroit.
The Middle Commonwealth Era (1750-1800)
* The Middle Commonwealth Era began with a piece of diplomatic masterpiece that many call the Treaty of Detroit which was signed in 1750. The contentious area of Ruperts Land was granted to New France, and in exchange upper canada a hotbed of anglo dissidents would be taken over by the Commonwealth. French claim over the Ohio River Valley territory would be delayed as it would become a neutral trust territory known today as the Northwestern Trust Territories.
A) The State Committee is the executor of the Trust Territory, and is made up of partners from Quebec City, Roundheads Hope, and La Nouvelle-Orléans.
B) Budgeting, and military allocation is to be decided by the State Committee, and approved by the partner nations.
C) Once a viable date is arranged the trust territories will be allowed to vote on the matter of their own sovereignty or whether or not they choose to be absorbed into one of the three trust
D) Border Issues along the mississippi are solved in order to avoid future border wars, and conflicts which could spiral out of control.
* The Seven Year War (1756-1763) between the Kingdom of Great Britain, and France witnesses several campaigns across the globe. Despite the past conflict the Commonwealth vows to aid the French colonies in their battle against Britain.
*The Delaware War (1778-1784) proves to be one of the most destructive wars in the history of the middle commonwealth era. After heated negotiations of proper border recognition break down skirmishes start happening along the Carolinian-Commonwealth border. The British commander in charge of the war effort attempts to break the Commonwealths spirit by raiding towns, and committing massacres via the delaware. The Commonwealth, and the Iriquois allies pay the terrible atrocities in kind by raiding invading forces camps, and crossing into the Carolina to destroy towns in savage night attacks. From 1779 to 1780 Spain, France, Scandinavia, and the Netherlands along with their colonies rush to the aid of the Commonwealth.
* War breaks out on continental europe as a result while in North America the militia forces of Carolina, and the British Army launch the Campaign of New France (1781-1783). By the end of the campaign the invading British, and Carolinians are flushed out of Commonwealth territory. The launching areas of the British Carribean are put under increased pressure from raids, and naval campaigns as well. The Treaty of Annapolis (1784) sets the borders officially between Carolina, and the Commonwealth. As a result the borders nickname since a survey in the early 1800s has come to be known as the Mason-Dixon line.
* The mid 1780s are spent as time of recovery for the Commonwealth as it begins to turn inwards following the sheer brutality of the war. The Inwardists movement gains its start here with the establishment of communities bent not on being "cities atop a hill", but places to "find the light". The inwardists movement advocated free land use, and pacifism along with ignoring outside cultural or political influence. The inwardists were often countered by a faction known as the "disgruntled", a group of veterans intent on political, and social change by any means necessary. Many of these units went on to aid the Germans in their struggle only to become disgusted by the wanton cruelty, and come home.
Era of Revolution, and Unrest (1800-1850)
As revolutions changed nations, scarred them, or created new ones altogether such as with Germany the inwardists began to dominate politics. The terror, and excess of certain German political figures caused many of the disgruntled units who volunteered there to return home, and resign themselves to cynicism. Outside of trivial diplomatic missions, trade, and some other matters the Commonwealth policy of the time became notably isolationist as people turned to a spartan attitude on life. Plain living, plain dress, plain speech, and plain thoughts were the order of the day. Some historians suspect the patronage of the inwardist school of thought, and its overbearing presence would ultimately plunge the nation into a series of civilwars.
