If you need help I wouldn't mind collaborating on some stuff. It might be a good way to flesh out the lore I've already constructed.

I appreciate that a lot, Brit. Thanks. But I have a bit of a skeleton to work with so far...what do you think?

Ianthia started hundreds of years ago from a fallen kingdom named Anderis when the mages of the old magic were being persecuted and then they led a coup against their former king, defeating him and forming the nation (kingdom, not empire). They expanded their borders a bit and became even stronger by embracing technology, especially airships. When the old magic died out, they were desperate to find a new source and ever since Vim was discovered it has infused nearly every aspect of their society. Instead of a king, the country is a magocratic republic ruled by a council of twelve wizards...the head of the council being the Wizard Imperial. Since they're sticklers for tradition, some things are a little archaic but they've pretty much caught up with the rest of the world tech-wise...except for being pretty Vim and magic depended FOR that tech. Since magic had been persecuted by the old kingdom back then, the current Ianthia infuses magic (Vim) into as much of their society as possible, including the tech. Almost everybody uses some form of Vim, and this has led to good and bad things.

Most orges tend to be dumb or below average intellect if they are poor (which is a common situation for them). If given proper education they can ge as smart as your average middle class human or even their orc cousins.

But 4-5 from Brit works sense trolls are much dumber usually... when not well things can get ugly pretty quickly.

I think we should start with the setting. The setting, i.e the geography, of a place usually determines its culture and history.

Naval mentioned that there is a land similar to the Middle-East. Carthus, named after an ancient empire that once ruled that region.

Well the setting is going to have quite a few darker-skinned people...I say the setting is quite similar to a steampunk-ish India/South Asia combined with some elements of African cultures. But with wizards...I quite like mages if you couldn't tell.

Also the Carthus Empire fell not because old magic left, in fact it fell when that was still around. It fell due to a combination of natural disasters, famines and plagues, spiritual incursions, rebellions from conquered lands and citizens who were converting to new faiths and those who wanted the old ineffective government gone, invading armies from other regions, and administrative corruption and incompetence accelerating the fall.

Also I like mages and magic as well, why else you think I have it play such a major role in my setting.

Yay for magic! For a setting, I was thinking a steampunk type place to fit with the world but the main inhabitants will be brown and black people.

Nothing against that. So they use tech along with magic? Are they a crumbling empire like the Ottomans or no? Would they have a rival that is like the Ottomans?

No, they’re just...slower to change, so to say. They have tech, of course, but they’re also tradition sticklers. While they’re catching up pretty well with the rest of the world, they’ve done so slower than most.

Race: Human/Vampire
Appearance: He is 6'4", has dirty blond hair which is cut into a combover style, and dark green eyes. His eyes turn red as he drinks blood or unleashes his vampire powers. He is fair, and has an average build. He grows fangs when in vampire form, and his skin becomes whiter. He has little to no facial hair.
Personality: Konrad is opportunistic, willing to take any jobs that come his way no matter how dirty he gets his hands. However, this is not to be confused with apathy, as he does have the capability to care for others. He can be quite suave and kind of a womanizer. He actually has a keen interest in pharmacy and medicines. Konrad is a bit egotistical.
Age: 36
Occupation: Pharmacist, odd-jobs man.
Likes: Money, having a roof over his head, foxes, blood Sausage, herbs and chemicals, spaghetti.
DislikesNot earning enough, mirrors, running water and not being invited to events.

Special Ability(ies) In his vampire form, he gains enhanced speed, running at 35 mph, superhuman strength allowing him to lift half a ton, and the ability to phase through walls. He can disguise himself as a wolf, bat, or crow. He also can kill by drinking people's blood and turn them into vampires. He can be wounded, however, as he has no enhanced durability, although the only way to kill him would be to decapitate or burn him.
Sexual preference (optional)
Identifying features Bite mark on neck
Bio Konrad was born in the countryside to a farmer family, where he learned from his grandmother herbal medicine and foraging skills. When the farm fell on hard times, he went to the city to find work and support his family, where he was inducted into a mob and became a hit man. After a few years, he got tired and faked his own death to escape his own organization. He took up a job as an odd-jobs man after that, and studied chemistry and pharmacy on the side. A few months ago he was bitten and turned into a vampire. He has used this newfound power to benefit himself, but he can only turn at night.

Than they most likely lack the calculating cannons and kinotropes and other tech associated with the analytical engine. Also I meant to say steam ships but I put train twice.

Makes sense. What's the main country here, because I'm just gonna plop my secondary character there. She'll be like a bit of a punk with no sense of direction.

Lumina. A city state jointly owned by several world powers which is consider to be the Vim captial of the world due to its location being rich in every form of natural Vim imaginable, as such the latest in Vim magick and technology can be found on the city. The city is iconic for the many airships and aeroplanes flying around and for using both Vuk and Vis to make skyscrapers.

Definitely, but what I meant is that I may not use Aelle after all...I just don't think she fits anymore, which is a shame considering all the work we put into her. But I may not scrap her just yet, I worked hard on her so I think I'll keep her around.
