Another post up and ready for reply :)
COMMUNIST
"If we have food, he will eat. If we have air, he will breathe. If we have fuel, he will fly." - Becky Chambers, Record of a Spaceborn Few
"One does not need to be surprised then, when 26 years later the outrageous slogan is repeated, which we Marxists burned all bridges with: to “pick up” the banner of the bourgeoisie. - International Communist Party, Dialogue with Stalin.

ML, anarchism, co-operativism (known incorrectly as "Market Socialism"), Proudhonism, radical liberalism, utopianism, social democracy, national capitalism, Maoism, etc. are not communist tendencies. Read a book already.

Character Application
Character Name: Ichiru Hashimoto
Gender: Male
Race: Human (Anjinese)
Appearance:
Image

Personality: Quiet, reverent, and contemplative, Ichiru has lived a long life, and often feels as though time has stopped for him. Disliking noise and commotion, he prefers to keep to himself or to a small group of friends to whom he can explain his thoughts. However, even for close friends, his story becomes hard to explain, thus he only reveals small pieces when he feels safe doing so. Ichiru often quotes old poems or hymns when he is speaking to others, often wrapping what he wants to say in cryptic messages. Because he is not very social, he does not like parties, and he does not like interacting with large groups of people at parties. Overall, he is comfortable living a quiet, peaceful life, though he will fight the forces of evil when he must.
Age: 1,000
Occupation: Scientist/Cleric(?)
Likes: Poetry, hymns, churches, libraries, mountains, winter, snow, quiet, chocolates, plum blossoms, the color white.
Dislikes Loud places, loud people, evil forces, guns, tropical climates.
Skills: Ichiru is a skilled swordsman, self-taught but elegant nonetheless. While he has a katana, he is skilled with multiple kinds of swords, and values traditional sword-combat over a quick gun-fight. Calm and analytical, he has near-precognitive abilities when it comes to fighting supernatural evils, mostly due to being able to plan many steps ahead. He has a gold choker which contains some of his hidden Magic abilities, doubling both as a source of Light Magic and also as a skeleton key. His trademark ability is his ability to control pure light, which allows him to blind, blast, and bind opponents. As a strategic fighter, he also uses it to defend himself, and prefers defensive combat over offensive attacks.
Special Ability(ies) Ichiru uses Light Magic, or what seems to be Light Magic. It is hard to tell at times whether it comes from his Faith or from an actual ability to use Magic, but either way, he can bend light to act as whatever sort of attack or defense he decides he needs.
Sexual preference He prefers women, though he has not dated anyone in a very long time.
Identifying features Ichiru has striking, dove-white hair and Elizabeth-Taylor-esque violet eyes. He is usually seen in a white cloak, which gives him the appearance of a ghost.
Bio A thousand years of life Ichiru has lived, and an eventful, long, and painful thousand years those have been. Born in a tiny village in the country of Anjin, Ichiru was scorned by villagers for his strange appearance. The deeply-devout Shinto villagers, and the nearby Buddhist village, both believed he was sent by the gods as a curse upon the people for not offering proper sacrifices. As a result, the boy grew-up in a large-but-lonely world, loved only by his adoptive father. As he grew, he learned many survival skills-swordsmanship, medicine, and crafting-but even his unusual brightness as a child could not overshadow the mysterious nature of his existence. Then, there were the visions...

At a mere six years old, Ichiru was kidnapped by villagers who wished to kill him, after a poor harvest that year. Before they had a chance to kill him, however, a spirit from Heaven burned the three kidnappers alive, and carried an injured and barely-conscious Ichiru home to his father. While the small child did not understand the significance of this vision, he later began to see this spirit more often. He eventually came to the understanding that God had sent this spirit as his guardian angel. Along with the knowledge of this Angel came his discovery of his powers, which he hid for a long time due to his fear of further isolation by his fellow villagers. At the same time, however, even as he hid this knowledge, his understanding of the supernatural world expanded and grew beyond anyone's expectations.

At one point as a young man, he fell in love with a beautiful noblewoman, one of the daimyo's daughters. A duel for her hand in marriage presented the strange outsider to the world of politics and earthly intrigue, and nearly destroyed him. While he won his beloved's hand in marriage, his father was assassinated by poisoning, and now the boy was nearly alone. A downward spiral brought him to the forces of evil and to the near-loss of his soul, and in a wicked rage he killed the groom-to-be's entire family. This horrid sin drove him to run away from society, even away from the woman who had loved him unconditionally, and thus an exile of 400 long years began...

Coming back into society was a long, excruciating, and gradual process. The tumultuous world of 15th century Anjin led him to flee his home-country, and he traveled Europe alone, hiding among the dark corners of the world and guarding civilians against the forces of evil...often alone. Never quite known or understood, except by the Angel who eventually came back into his life, he kept away from society out of fear of his own inner wrath, out of fear that his past would come back to reach him. Even now, as he faces the world of Numina, he wonders if he truly was a curse wrought by God onto the world...

Description of Group:
The Aqyar War took place across the years of 1865-1874. On one side were the Adrian Coalition, made up of Alba and its allies; and the Taurican Empire on the other. Fought on the Aqyar Peninsula on the edges of the western Taurican territories, this war was the bloodiest of all in Numinian history, claiming the lives of millions of soldiers from a wide range of belligerents. It was the first major conflict in which the innovations of the Vim Revolution and mechanisation decided the nature of combat. Railways formed supply lines covering distances unseen in all previous conflicts, prolonging defences and offensive campaigns. Traditional tactics of rifle-lines and bayonet charges found themselves displaced in favour of the advent of mechanised warfare.

The Taurican Empire triggered the war after annexing several colonies belonging to a superpower of the Carthus region. Supposedly, Tsar Matthias II’s government intended only to protect a Taurican religious minority living under persecution in the area. For the colonies’ owner, the nation of Baradin-Assan, and its allies, the reports of rich resource deposits nearby told otherwise. The scale of the war quickly grew as Taurica mobilised conscripts from its vast territories and Adra’s complex networks of alliances brought much of the continent into the war via diplomatic obligations.

At the forefront of the armies of Alba were its elite mage squads, dedicated to adapting the new capabilities of Vim and the remnants of humanity’s latent magic for the next generation of war. Officially, the purpose of such groups was to attack strategic targets and act as general infantry where required, but their role transformed rapidly as the Aqyar War intensified. The Watchers were one of many of these squads originally formed in early 1865 during Alba’s preparation for a war footing. Its designation came from its commanding officer, Matthew Watcher, and ‘Watcher’ grew to be a very well known moniker indeed.

The group had its first assembly in October 1865 at Fort Ouph, near the city of Don Loireg. Present at this meeting were its founding members: Captain Matthew Watcher, his niece Lana Watcher, Hania Seren, Alicia Cromwell, Everton Tallow, Ichiru Hashimoto, and Walter N. Usher. Two months after the outbreak of the war, Rune Master Dr Quartz Ernst joined the group as quartermaster and arms supplier. Throughout 1866, the group recruited several more, filling out the group’s roster to be as above.

Throughout the war’s early campaigns, the Watchers received recognition from the leadership of the Alba-led coalition for both a brazenness in combat and their ability to carry out missions deep within enemy territory. Its members boasted a versatile array of magics, ranging from basic Elementalism to the Psychic Arts. Additionally, the membership of the Rune Master Dr Quartz Ernst, a world-renowned pioneer in the fields of runesmithing and Vim symbology, as the group’s quartermaster granted them extremely powerful weaponry that made even Ernst’s fellows on the Runic Council green with envy.

Innovations in telecommunication made the Aqyar War the first international conflict in which the public could maintain a continuous link to stories of the fighting. Reporters and military propagandists designed a mythos around the Watchers’ exploits, matching the undercurrent of anti-Taurican jingoism flowing through the continent at the time. The group was thrust into the spotlight after a daring sabotage run on a Taurican armoured train in which they succeeded by the skin of their teeth. They, along Adra’s other elites, were hailed as national heroes destined for greatness and adoration.

In addition, the Watchers received significant press coverage after one of its members was brought before a tribunal for going absent without leave in order to care for a Taurican child savaged by monsters. All of the squad, even the previously honourably discharged Walter N. Usher, were present at that court-martial, and all revelled in the verdict in their comrade’s favour.

Despite being involved in the initial peninsula landings, having undertook the assassination of two Taurican generals, and experiencing the gross incompetence of Adra’s high military commanders, not a single Watcher was killed in action. Every enlisted member also received multiple promotions and medals throughout the war. Matthew Watcher was very proud of these accomplishments, so much so that he would bring them up at both opportune and inappropriate times.

Each of the Watchers accrued their own reputations based on their actions. Almost all of these public images went through several changes after Tallow’s court-martial for going absent without leave, and the violent dissolution of the group after the war ended*.

The break-up of the Watchers in the October of 1874 marked the end of their fame. Albian Military Public Relations officials, keen to maintain the public’s post-war euphoria, kept the fragmenting of a national icon away from the papers. They were not immediately successful, as rumours of the vitriol and blows exchanged across the October and November of 1874 became a hot topic amongst Alba’s veterans and then gossipers not much later. However, following the disappearance of Quartz Ernst, and the temporary withdrawals of much of the team’s roster from public life, the Watchers rapidly disappeared from the public consciousness. The wonders of the Vim Revolution and a new array of celebrities eagerly took their place.

*More information on this and other specific events regarding the Watchers is available in the biography of Everton Tallow (see application).

How you fit into the world: The Watchers are fading legends, relics of the Aqyar War, and a long-gone source of pride for their home Alba who has long since forgotten their fight.

Character Application
Character Name: Iris Amcotts
Gender: Female
Race: Human+
Appearance:
Image
Personality:
High intensity violence, with a side of sass. She’s overall a pretty nice person, but she’s got her flaws. She’s rather crude, which she got from the Iron Enforcers. She’s sort of a tomboy, with a rare maternal side which only appears for her brother, who is still rather young. She has a pretty casual vibe when it comes to death, considering she’s been around it in it’s most unkind forms for a while. If anyone was to have her respect, it would be her father. Hence why she he has to occasionally step in when she’s being considered difficult by Rose. Her sense of humor is pretty dark, which has honestly been apart of her since she was little, something she and her father share Rose and Timothy can’t quite get.
Age:19
Occupation: A bodyguard for her father's security company, though her roles often mold depending on what's needed. On her own, she's found herself occasionally work as a Mercenary.
Likes:
>Her adoptive father
>The men of the “Iron Enforcers”, a Mercenary group she grew up around.
>Shooting
>Cooking
Dislikes
>Her Step mother
>Any forced femininity, especially from her Step Mother
Skills:
>Alright Swordsmanship
>Professional Marksmanship
>Fine cook
>Tracking
>Horse riding
>Flute
Special Ability(ies)
>Smoke:Smoke refers to the ability of absorbing, controlling and redirecting smoke, fire, and embers. This power is primarily used to get up close and personal with Iris’s enemies with quick and violent attacks. The Smoke Shot has an appearance of a fireball; this in particular has the same effect as being shot with a 9mm. Also, there is a grenade-like weapon called a Sulfur Bomb, which she Developed while with the Enforcers. After absorbing Smoke, Iris can use a variety of abilities, such as the Smoke Dash, that turns Irie into a wispy cloud of smoke and embers, which can be used to achieve a semi-flying status, or to say turn into a smokey cloud to avoid getting damaged. Absorbing Smoke also acts as a way to regenerate herself from any damages dealt to her. When using the power to glide, she expels smoke from her arms, boosting her upwards momentum and slowing her descent, allowing her to glide. Other sources of power include smoke from factories, burning Vehicles, or at times Vim. One of her most effective abilities is Iris when charges up momentarily, before condescending into pure smoke and shooting upwards into the sky, reforming into a humanoid shape, and then rocketing back down, while using the smoke thrusters to aid her descent, before exploding on impact and reforming. Iris of course cannot use this power indoors, like in a building or underpass, for example, because of the fact that Irie cannot reach a large enough height for the Orbital Drop to be effective, and falls back down after colliding with the ceiling. On that note, this ability also allows for rapid changing of clothes for her, or more interestingly the formulating of her personal sword. It attaches to a sword hilt, in form similar to a Katana. Why a Katana? In all honesty she thought it was cool.

>Explosions: She has the capability to cause explosions, which she tends to enchant her revolver bullets so they explode with the snap of a finger. Not that getting shot wouldn’t be already damaging, but Irie isn’t exactly known for holding back. On that note, this ability particularly stims from her aforementioned ability.

Sexual preference Straight
Identifying features Besides being black?
Bio
Fire. Dirt. Gunpowder. Piles of black bodies as one more native revolt dared to question the rule of the Alban Empire, was violently put down. Body parts, limbs, the lives of rebels and their local communities snuffed out. The rule of the day, and it was the rule of the day. There was those who could enforce the rules, enforce their will, and those who couldn't. Those who couldn't, suffered. The races who lost their magic and failed to adapt could attest to that.

The home of war, fortunes to be made. The Iron Enforcers, a Mercenary group walking through the aftermath. A young mercenary, gawking at the Carnage. A village? No more. A community? Snuffed out. Internal Security assured? Absolutely. Are those cries? The heart wrenching sobs of a child? From where? From who? Were there survivors? No. There was a survivor. Singular. Hidden on the outskirts of the village, in a basket covered by brush. Inside? A naked little girl, no older than 2 years old. The young mercenary finds her, he 19. Ebony skin, lighter than some. A darky by Ardan standards, but maybe light enough to be beautiful. The girl looked up at the young man, crying. Her eyes red from tears, but her eyes turned a different kind of Iris color. The milk chocolate brown turned to a dark red. Like that of some of the Native warriors who they fought earlier. The conclusion of a fight between guns and Spears was forgone, but they were not without casualties. A dangerous power she possessed. One that could be used.

Taken to the Mercenary group. Skeptical of her, some were. Afraid she was. Given time, she faded into the background for most. Not for Daniel. From being a reluctant caretaker, to dedicated care taker. Loved? Who knows. Maybe her new name was a sign of love. After discussion among the men, what was her name? Iris. Iris went from skepticism of Daniel, to being attached to him by the hip. Of course when there isn't many options, you do what you can with what you got. As it turns out, Daniel and Iris had each other. From bumbling toddler, to child of the Enforcers, she became an accepted presence. Assisting in the chores of the camp, and adapting the rough love, and compassion of the Group, she went from being “Daniel's Brat” to “Little Iris.” It could be said that perhaps her presence softed the mercenary group's edge. It could also be said it roughed Irie's personality.

Years traveling, from throughout her home continent, to Arda, to other areas. As it turns out, Daniel had done his service. 8 years, and he was ready to go home. What would happen to Iris? As far as he was concerned, she'd be coming home with him. It was only natural. With some talks with officials, he officially became her adoptive father in Alba. What was next? Well an education. She had received some basics, but she needed refining. The first 6 months we're spent with him teaching her “Proper Alban”, the posh kind of the upper and middle class. As it turns out, 8 years around crude Alban mercenaries wasn't great for proper Alban. As s child, she was rather crude and foul mouthed. She could still be when she was older as well.

As time went on, Daniel married. An interruption in the affairs of her life as far as she was concerned. Rose Anderson. A charming woman, red haired, the embodiment of the middle class. All foundations have a bedrock, and she was to become the bedrock of the Amcotts household. Dresses, makeup, “middle class morality”. Necessary maybe, laughable to Iris. Did Rose take the hardest edges off Daniel? Perhaps. Off Irie. No. Most compliance with Rose was reluctant, for the sake of her father. She felt like a toy to her “mother”, something that could be dressed up. As often as she'd be dragged inside by Rose for what she considered “training”, Iris could just as easily run back outside to be with the neighborhood children. From school, to sports, to fighting the boys. Turns out she had a pretty good uppercut. Though her strength was in her powers, which she promised not to abuse. Well in her mind she didn't, she was “leveling the playing field.” Boys thought they had all the cards. Those notions go out the window soon enough.

As she grew, Rose began attempting to use more authoritarian tactics to reign in her daughter. These efforts had a halt when she had her first child, Timothy. As it turns out Timothy was a dual edged sword for Rose. She began putting more attention into him, considering he was of course the youngest, and her actual child. On the other hand, Iris also found herself drawn to the child as well. A more contained version of herself, which was hearting for Rose. Of course Irie used any extra time not being dragged into things she despised from Rose to practicing her powers. On the side she'd find herself with former Enforcers, practicing her other “martial arts”. This was usually hand to hand combat, Marksmanship, and Swordsmanship. Getting creative, she weaseled her way into joining her father's security company at 16. Something that flabbergasted Rose, but won the admiration of Timothy, who himself as he got older increasingly idolized his older sister.

Having an opportunity in Luminia, Daniel decided to move his family to the city for the operation of a local Mage-tech factory. As it turns out, there was lots of opportunities for the Security Company as well. Not only in the city, but in surrounding nations. To be frank, she loved it. There was a higher degree of Freedom for her, and there was no pretenses on what her job was with Rose. Between babying Timothy, though he certainly needed it less nowadays, working, and interest in Vim, she felt the future seemed good. Just needed to survive Rose…….

Theme Song (Optional)
Relationships:
Daniel Amcotts (Adoptive Father)- One of the mercenaries of the Iron Enforcers, and of course the one who adopted her. Is also the CEO of the Security Company she works for. Serving as her primary role model (considering she never had a good female one) he helped Develop her skill set, and helped his maturing as he ended up taking on most of the responsibility as her guardian in the Mercenary Company. The relationship between the two is quite endearing, and there is a certain favoritism that Daniel shows towards Irie. Her special powers are in themselves special, and useful, but their relationship grew more personal through the years. As things stand now, her father is her top confidante, and she's one of his top security employees at his Security Company.
Rose Amcotts (Step Mother)- Marrying Mr. Amcotts, a respectable man of the Middle Class and a entrepreneur, as a woman from another middle class family, seemed to be fine. As it turned out, she didn't particularly feel strongly one way or another about Iris while Dating, and engaged to Daniel. However when she began living with them, she adopted the role as mother of the Sarajani child, now a pre-teen. From what she could understand, the child hadn't a feminine bone her her body. Though she could perhaps be forgiven considering her background of being raised essentially by a Mercenary group, and while back Alba, training her to be womanly wasn't Daniel's highest priority in his education of her. Her success in doing such was as it turns out very limited, and fearing having such an unruly child in her care, she began using increasingly authoritarian tactics to get Irie under control. That backfired, leading to Irie increasingly disregarding the wishes of her step mother. In practice, her father had the only influence on her. Funnily enough, she wouldn't and want to make him look bad. This only escalated when Rose and Daniel finally had their own child, leading to..
Timothy Amcotts (Brother)- Timothy is a young boy, and then only child between Daniel and Rose. As it turns out, and perhaps not surprisingly, that there was a pretty striking difference between how Rose approached Timothy and Iris. As strained as the relationship between Rose and Irie was, the same didn't apply between Timothy and Irie. Almost as if they were drawn to each other, Iris took great enjoyment in watching over someone. Meanwhile Timothy wanted to take after Iris, who ironically succeeded in raising some maternal feelings for her younger brother. Of course how she expressed that could differ, and definitely differed from how Rose treated him. Then finally there was Daniel. Timothy while loving his sister, also envied her for the attention her father seemed to give her. Now it wasn't like he ignored him, but it was obvious how deep a relationship the two shared.

Character Application
Character Name: Raphaelle Augustine Bouton
Gender: Female
Race: Half Elf
Appearance:
Image

At 6 foot in height, a relatively tall individual. Athletic build from a life of exercise and physical labor, with sun-tanned skin thanks to the locale. Curly raven hair is usually tied up in a ponytail or a bun to prevent it from getting in the way of her sight. Ambidextrous.
Personality: Raphaelle is dedicated to and focused on her job, primarily. Her loyalty to her employers and homeland extends into a worldview that considers anything not from Galadia or Adra as a whole is uncultured, unrefined, and not to be trusted, only to be used for the betterment of the homeland and one's people. To her, appearances are everything and she takes great care of maintaining hers. Preferably to the point, but fanciful and elaborate enough when the situation calls for it.
Age: 38
Occupation: Corporate hit(wo)man, debt collector, and at times a representative of the Caisse d'épargne Victoire bank (if other, more suitable candidates are elsewhere or otherwise unavailable). Previously a sailor.
Likes: Fine wines, card games, money (naturally), colorful (and preferably fragrant) flowers, cats, philosophical works and the arts.
Dislikes: Any type of meal involving fish, beggars and gamblers, people that don't do the things they say they'll do, unfeminine women (which can definitely be seen as hypocritical, all things considered), people who don't bother taking care of their appearance and hygiene, needless violence.
Skills:
  • A crack shot, capable of hitting targets from long rages and while on the move (either herself or her target!) with various types of firearms.
  • Skilled enough with a blade - not her preferred choice of fighting, but certainly something Raphaelle is competent enough at.
  • Good with money. Not so much in the investing part, but good at saving on expenses and not losing the stuff.
  • Persuasive enough and a good liar.
  • Minor magical capabilities, as detailed below.
Special Ability(ies):
  • Raphaelle's (half) Elven heritage means she has some minor magical capabilities. Besides these, they also grant her better hearing, sight, and reflexes than most humans, as well as the much longer natural lifespan.
  • Raphaelle is capable of casting several minor spells, mostly revolving around lighting things on fire. She is most certainly not a master mage, or even anywhere near a proper, practiced one, but they can certainly be of help at times, and save on having to carry torches around in the dark.
Sexual preference: Bisexual
Identifying features: Various tattoos. An elaborate and colorful floral pattern runs from her shoulder down her left arm to her wrist, hiding several scars and burn marks on it. A more abstract, black pattern has been tattooed on her back - the pattern has no particular meaning to it, but just so happens to help obscure various scars as well. Other than this, she is relatively tall and has a lengthy posture which can help identify her at a distance. The pointy ears, in the case of them being uncovered, would probably help at a closer distance as well.
Bio: Born in the Most Serene Republic of Galadia, Raphaelle is the bastard child of one particular Elven banker and his courtesan of choice at a party one faithful night. Opportunity was brought to her relatively unfortunate surroundings when a local politician decided to, to try and increase his popular support in the area, provide free schooling for the young children in the region she resided. After several years of this (and the sponsored education coming close to an ending), she was approached - still but a teenager - to work on board of a mercantile vessel, an offer which she gladly accepted: the opportunity to travel and see the world while making a living and, more importantly, not having to live in the rather poor place she grew up in was too much to pass up on. Young Raphaelle didn't give her mother much opportunity to speak out against it, and within mere days, she was whisked away to sail the seas.

Alas, work was not enjoyable, and neither did she get to see much of the world or earn much. As a result, when someone offered her a large amount of money - for her, at least - in exchange for some information on what goods were exactly being stowed in the cargo hold of the ship she worked on, Raphaelle eagerly picked up on the offer. When she arrived back home, she shared her earnings with her mother, who was most definitely in need of some coin, only to find that the company whose ship she'd been working on had gone under. They turned out to have been heavily indebted to the Caisse d'épargne Victoire, or the Victoire Bank - incidentally, as it turned out to be, the people the man that had paid her for that information was working for. Several years older than when she first started sailing, and with both experience and a contact in the bank, Raphaelle started working for them, instead.

Initially continuing her career on the seas, helping with the protection of ships carrying goods of special interest to the bank, Raphaelle eventually, after several years, moved over to helping out with collecting debts owed to the bank - generally involving either intimidation or rough force, aimed mostly at lower- and middle-class people. Over time, her repertoire of 'clients' grew and more refined and less violent techniques had to be applied, but she continued her work for the bank either way, becoming a trusted and employee and asset.

Eventually, Raphaella was dispatched to Lumina, where she has resided and worked for several years, now. Being the Vim capital of the world, business is always booming, and the banks' interests in the city-state are great - meaning there is practically always work to be done. Corruption runs rampant, especially when Vim is involved, and it'd be more than fair to state that Raphaella's work for the Victoire bank is very much a part of that corruption. She simply does as she's instructed, with no regard for the local laws, for the good of the bank, the homeland, and its people as a whole - or so she strongly believes, at least. In some circles, she's made a reputation for herself as someone who is best not crossed, and who you'd rather not have coming after you, while in more refined, upper-class society she maintains the public appearance and reputation of simply another mid-level employee of the bank.

Relationships:
Nicolette Bouton (57) - Raphaelle's mother. While she (naturally) doesn't see her frequently, she nevertheless maintains contact, regularly writing her mother and sending her money in order to take care of her.
Caisse d'épargne Victoire - a large bank from the Most Serene Republic of Galadia, and Raphaelle's long-time employers.

Character Application
Character Name: Juliet Prescott
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Appearance:
Image

Personality: Juliet is a paranoid and mentally unstable girl with a penchant for the absurd and the morbid. Juliet often finds herself in slumps of manic-depression, symptomatic of her bipolar disorder. A fear of being institutionalized left her bleeding thoughts unchecked and psychosis began to develop. Delusions and hallucinations matched her current mood; she was the greatest poet that ever lived or the worst scrap of paper in a gutter. A hard time concentrating and a scoop of anxiety continued to contribute to her ever growing problems. A unique viewpoint graces her; during manic episodes the girl observes the world as if it were fleeting, taking in the world one portion at a time. She holds art and artists in the highest of respects and finds the world lively and exciting. During depressive eras, she holds a more pessimistic esteem and ridicules her past self internally. The world is dying and she is too; this is constant until the next switch in mood.

Age: 23
Occupation: Poet/Waitress
Likes: Poetry, herself (in manic times), art, home, animals, drugs, times of drunkenness, and the ocean.
Dislikes: Her family, institutions, herself (in depressive times), the bustling streets, waiting tables, how loud everything is, and lurking shadows.
Skills:
  • An excellent poet
  • A unique view on life
  • Knowledgeable
  • Clever, even if not in speech
Sexual preference: Heterosexual

Bio: Juliet was born in Alba to a neurotic mother and a vicious father. Growing up under a middle-class roof, she had no problems with physiological needs. Bipolarity was instilled from birth; a familial history of mental illness predicted her doom from the start. Her older sister was enough of a friend in the early years before formal education was introduced, but even before that she was being taught. Her parents were artists who wished for their daughters to subscribe to their beliefs as well; Juliet herself was forced into piano playing. She'd mess up notes constantly and was screamed at her for her troubles. Amelia was to be the singer and she had surprising ability in her efforts. Juliet was relegated to the middle child, feelings towards her fluctuating between disappointment and utter contempt.

School was always hard for her. She always had trouble making friends but found a few in those days. The disorder had yet to rear its head, yet anxiety and a penchant for perfectionism had created an easily angered and easily friendless girl to take on the world. Her sister was too old for her and wasn't there to help during school; however, at home the two would muck about rampantly. By the time Marshall was born, the two were partners in crime. She'd play the piano while Amelia sang and they did well at it, mostly playing for a mother who needed music to quell the disquieting thoughts. Time continued on and times grew worse as kids turned into teenagers and teenagers prepared to become adults. College was on the horizon and Amelia was gone. While Juliet's parents grew more and more distant, they fought into the darkest nights against one another. Juliet was fifteen when her sister left. Marshall, a six-year old child, was all that remained. Finding no solace in her younger brother, Juliet became isolated. She'd spend hours in her room writing poetry, detailing vibrant worlds and sinister words into ink. The girl would only leave for school or if her mother insisted she play a song.

When the time came for college, Juliet's mother defied her husband. While Gregory insisted upon continuing her studies into piano, Elizabeth suggested that she study history or magic as her sister did. Juliet wanted none of the three but was eventually left with history studies into the future. Gregory had retreated to his study upon hearing her decision. He had become an ugly drunkard but not an angry one; he would never hurt a soul with physical violence. Juliet was at college soon enough and roped into a world of studies she would be hard balled to understand. A few friends found her in college but never many true ones. Alas, her isolation had found itself manifesting in deadlier fashions. She was not meant for history but she soaked it all in nonetheless. Tugging insecurities dragged at the back of her mind, all cooing the same words; you're not perfect. Poetry was all she could do to cope, poetry about faraway lands, poetry of fictional worlds, poetry of deep-seated thoughts, poetry of anything that came to her mind. She had finally learned to manage her emotions this way when, in the middle of her second year, the disorder finally erupted.

She was at first manic. She was on top of the world, thrust into her studies and near delving into madness. In her depressive stages, her grades truly faltered. Research disappeared, as did her attendance. She was relegated to her bed for days at a time, trying to write but lacking the motivation to do so. She tried to do anything but found that, no matter what, she was lacking. After several months she barely finished her second year. By this time, Amelia had graduated and was on her way to becoming a scholar of magic, heading far away to learn the arcane arts in full. Her parents were proud of Amelia; however, when Juliet told them that she couldn't do college anymore, her parents were less accepting. They argued for a while but eventually, in a fit of rage, her father gave her a fistful of money and told her to leave. Juliet did exactly such, finding an incredibly low-end apartment in a poor part of town. It was dangerous but she didn't mind; she was finally alone and finally on her way to "perfecting" herself. The woman did odd jobs for the next three years before she found a waiting job with one of the larger corporations. There, she mostly served parties and watched other people be happy while she wasn't. Walks in the park were her favorite pastime before these big events, a way of calming herself against the backdrop of society. Eventually she began taking drugs to alleviate the effects of her depressive state, ranging from alcohol to minor illicit ones.

Saving these two for next arc

Character Application
Character Name: Else Holtermann
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Appearance: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/522156519157137421/577982900054786097/IMG_3028.jpg
Personality: Else performs her duties efficiently and without much remorse, including killing people. She is a huge neat freak, and despite formerly living in Blighttown, always kept her house clean. She kept her current residence in a nicer district very spick and span as well. It is sometimes hard to read her emotions-most of the time she doesn't show them. She is ruthless if you deceive or betray her.
Age: 31
Occupation: Criminal (Hitwoman, smuggler, robber)
Likes: Klaus, money, not being beaten up by other people, security, dogs, jellied eels, her sister.
Dislikes Anyone not Klaus or her sister and brother in law, being in danger, sweet foods,
Skills: Can speak the Vim equivalent of German, athlete-level physical strength and speed, master at hand to hand and knife combat, can use a firearm (Handgun or shotgun) quite well.
Special Ability Else can use ice magic. The way she usually uses it is to incapacitate opponents and hinder their movement, then striking them down with a quick hit or stab. She has a special technique where she makes ice spread along the ground in a radius around her so it can freeze anything touching the ground in that radius, including her victims' legs. While they can't move then she kills them. However she is weak against fire or heat magic which can melt her ice, and the radius has a limit in size (9 ft) and can't freeze anything touching the ground. The technique is most useful for fighting off multiple people.
Sexual preference unknown
Identifying features Her disfigured face half.
Bio Abused as a servant and dumped in Blighttown, Else had to crawl her way up to the top as one of the most powerful criminals in the district. However, when her sister and brother in law died, she moved out of Blighttown and into a better district to care for Klaus. Finally, Else was caught by the authorities and moved to a high security prison.
Theme Song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34Na4j8AVgA
Relationships: Klaus is her nephew. Igrid was her sister and Wolfgang her brother in law.

Character Application
Character Name: Klaus Schmidt
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance: https://www.instagram.com/p/BwlCSwyh057/
Personality: Klaus has a morbid fascination with death and ending and depressive moods from time to time. Otherwise, he's an ordinary, happy-go-lucky kid despite living in a workhouse. Very eager to please people, but unhappy about his current condition. He's mischevious and likes getting into things.
Age: 9
Occupation: Workhouse orphan
Likes: Dogs, reading, writing, Else, Uzi, the woods.
Dislikes The workhouse, loud noises, busy parts of the city, Else, Uzi.
Skills: Klaus is fluent in the Vim version of German. He's agile and is very good at pulling pranks.
Special Ability(ies) Uzi is a demonic creature that is living inside klaus as a host. He can come out through Klause's facial orifices as an inky slime but this does not hurt Klaus. Klaus can use Uzi as a second pair of hands, or even use him to fight-when he turns his body rapidly, he can use the angular momentum to deliver a strong slap to opponents with Uzi, strong enough to send an average sized teen flying. Uzi can also charge at opponents with a ram attack, but it has only a 3 foot radius of attack.
Sexual preference homosexual
Identifying features His eyes leak an inky slime sometimes.
Bio Klaus was a normal kid until his parents died and he lived with Aunt Else until Else was arrested. He then moved into a workhouse because he had no parents. However, Klaus was clever and escaped the workhouse to wander the streets and find Else.

Relationships: Else-Aunt

So for those who have factions in the RP look at the selections on these links and pick which ones your civilizations or factions would have if they were in that quest's universe.

Government

From there pick the subtype you think bests fit your nation sense things like democracy, socialism, and stratocracy are to board to give a clear picture of the government.

Aspects

Now pick five aspects from this list that bests fits with the culture of your faction and add in two more that best fits with your factions history. You can make up your own aspects if none in the list fits your faction.

I'm aware that right now me and Brit are the only ones with actual nation states but this can be something for those who make future nations in the RP or we all can make up the states of the nations in this RP's lore for fun?

I will start with Lumina. I would pick Oligarchy for it's government. For aspects I will pick Xenophilic because despite that racism, sexism, and speicism is in the city it is more open than other places, even those claiming to be more enlighten. The next trait is Trader due to trade being a vital life blood for the city. The next is Cultured because the city's inhabitants pretty much act and some even believe that they are the perfect model of what modern people should be like and try to live up to those expectations (doesn't mean they are successful all of the times). The next is Weird because being the capital of the Vim Revolution pretty much means that ideas and tech that seem to be at odds with the rest of the world is a given. The final one is Magic Fertile because it being the most Vim rich location means that not only is Vim based tech and products everywhere but so it magic, mutations, and magitech. The city is a place were the scientific fields and the mystic arts meet and often collaborate together to produce great innovations and inventions.

Character Application
Character Name: Piotr Chlebek
Gender: male
Race: Undead Human
Appearance: Piotr is a rather unassuming in build, tall perhaps at a little over 6 feet. He has a head of light blond hair that is starting to recead. His face however is rather striking. A nose that could be considered hawkish, cocked to one side from a break that hadn't properly healed. He right eye is milky white, indeed his while right side of his face is a mass of disfiguring scars. If one where to see him without a shirt, the scars and pockmarks would continue all on the right side of his body. His good eye is a pale blue.
Personality: Piotr is a bunt man, at times he can seem like a rather uncaring person, cold and hard at times. Some could say that he is like a sentient block of ice. This may be the case on the surface, but there is something still human within Piotr, and in rare cases it shows itself.
