RP Description:
- St. Augustine of Hippo
The year is 1000 AD and 'known world' is in turmoil. The Roman Empire, which has stood for almost a millennia and a half, is dying. In the East she is but a fragment rump state supported by an assortment of individuals with vested interest: the Athenians and the Empire in the West, primarily. In the West, she fares better -- having retreated around the Mare Nostrum. But she is but a fragment of the glory she once was.
Around huddled tables do the Roman leaders plot their course debating ever the eternal question: "When do we admit the East has fallen?" The answer, guided by the fury of the blood of the Majorians, is a resounding "It hasn't." Time and time again have Greek statesmen found themselves at the precipice of the Roman declaration: "You are the Eastern Emperor now."
Yet the tale is more of that then just Rome: the new power, those set to beset them, the Umayyads have faced similar problems. A spur of a campaign pushed forth into the heartlands of Anatolia. Stagnation, depression, decline -- and they rule only in name now.
Those that came after, the Abbasid, stand a fairer chance as they push and conquer the lands of Zoroaster.
And the most bold and brave are the Tulunid Dynasty in Egypt, locked in the eternal conflict with the Western Roman Empire. A conflict that was verbal more than action, spiteful disagreement and insult from one end of the Mediterranean to the other. That was until, three days ago, when the Tulunid Dynasty and the Roman Empire independently but almost too coincidentally launched offensives into either nation. The Tulunids landing in Sicily with a force that has sent the rubber-stamp senate into a panic and the Romans taking Tripoli, besetting the power of one of Dynasty's tributaries.
And again to confine this tale to the Mediterranean is an injustice. Patriarchs have set themselves up as per the missions of the united Chalcedonic Church: Francia, Hispania and Britannia. Tales of potent Kings unifying the former Roman World, or exiled republicans proclaiming to be the successor of the Roman Senate in the middle of Iberia as the lumbering Empire stares at them from the Iberian coast.
Norsemen, vile and savage has seen the light of the Christian faith and the Kievan Rus baptised in the Crimea are soon to march to the aid of the Patriarch in Constantinople: or so they proclaim as the next assault from the Arabs in Anatolia makes it way.
Nothing is how it once was, the doomsday clerics, immams and shamans declare.
For how could it be?
Rome is led by a woman.

Reservation: If you want to reserve land, you must use the following reservation. Reservations will last for 24 hours though you can appeal to the OP to make it last fora maximum of 36 hours. These reservations are meant to give you time to make your application or keep your area safe while AFK. These are not meant to be used to keep other waiting. You will not be able to have a second reservation (for the same area) unless you provide significant reason why. NOTE: this is more or less a person's intent to RP a certain nation and reservations are not set in stone. Multiple people can apply for the same nation, just be civil and most importantly courteous about it.

More Lore: The largest states, in terms of power, have been given 'background blurbs' as I've come to call them. These are brief, well, blurbs that paint a fragment of the picture -- as to not constrain too much. 'Lesser nations' are there on the map only, most of their internal composition, rulers and so forth can be entirely crafted by you! Except religion. That's set in stone, for the most part.
