United States Presidential Election 1960 RP

In Character: IC

The year is 1960. The two terms of Dwight D. Eisenhower are coming to an end, and the race is on to see who will take the presidency after him. Who do you want to be, what do you plan to do? The choice is yours. The race is going to be tight, with many of the most powerful people and the most powerful parties in the United States about to hit the campaign trail or pour millions of dollars into advertisments and campaign funds. Under Eisenhower, anti-communism has expanded and become more popular in the US and elsewhere, and the Cold War is nearing its height. The destiny of the Cold War is at stake, and it is up to you to define it.

Rules of the RP:
Above all, OP is god. You should know this already. Also, nobody's expected to post on Thanksgiving or such, but try to post at least once every few days.

One: You can be anyone that was eligible to run for president that actually existed in the world in 1960.

Two: Be relatively realistic. Minor inconsistencies are fine, but don't be a hundred-year-old or some insane third-party ticket (I may allow a third party ticket if it's realistic, just telegram me)

Three: BOTH parties will have primaries and then the general election. I will decide based on actual political outcomes and events that include campaign stops that you RP

Four: Put some degree of effort into your posts. I'll be lenient, but do a bunch of one liners as "RP", and you're out of the RP to make room for people that are willing to actually try.

Five: Your candidates need to be the same people that they were in real life. NO Jekyll and Hyde storylines please.

Six: If you win the primaries, you need to set out a plan and pick a running mate.

- You're more likely to win if people know who you are.
- People in Republican areas tend to vote Republican, same for Democrat areas. It takes a strong point (a lot of them) to change someone's mindset.
- Let's face it: Racism was real, (and still is) and not only in the South.
- Old elections and even local and state elections from this era will help you a lot.
- If you're confused or don't know who you want to be, just TG me, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
