Religion plays a very important part in most lives in the Duchy. Social roles for genders are very traditional and slavery is widely accepted as a necessity in the nation. The most important thing for someone to do is considered serving the state whether that be in the military fighting for the state or trading make money for the state.

Magic is seen positively in Drazar being seen as a tool that can be used to help the nation grow.
Foreign policies/agendas: Officially states loyalty to the Nosewaganian empire but has secret plans to break away and become an independent kingdom. In the mean time it try's to keep friendly relations with neighboring realms and with the more powerful realms trying to gain allies.
Trade (Imports/exports/policies): Trade in Drazarian ports are taxed with the main Drazarian exports being Iron, Timber, Grain, Weapons, and Silver. The main imports are Silk, Gold, Furs, and Wine.
History: The Drazarians started as a bunch of separate tribes who were often at conflict with each other. Over decades these tribes progressed into city states that continued to fight with each other. (Kind of like the ancient Greek city states.) This seemed to have no sign of stopping until the King of Dreyjan Frances Bailey managed to untie the city states through diplomacy and war. With this the kingdom of Drazar was born.
The kingdom of Drazar started out as more of a federation with many different cultures and each of the city states acting as more of a loose collection of allies. But over the years the monarchs of Drazar began to consolidate their power centralizing the government more and more. This caused anger among some of the nobles and they attempted a rebellion and managed to overthrow the The Balian house from the throne and installed a puppet king. But a couple of years later the exiled king with a foreign army marched in and reclaimed his throne and through massive amounts of execution re established order.
Much of the powers of the nobles would be stripped so that they may never challenge the monarch again. And this worked for the next few decades until the Nosewaganian empire defeated the Drazarians in battle and forced the king of Drazar to swear loyalty and become a vassal becoming the Duchy of Drazar and this has been the situation there for a while but the current Duke does have changes to plan this...
Additional Information:The military works that the Duke keeps a small professional army of 2'000 men in Dreyjan at his direct command with the vassals providing more manpower usually by bringing in their local garrison along with some more conscripted men. The army is complimented with a couple hundred noblemen acting as heavy Calvary, heavy infantry, and Archers, The army is like an medieval European army focusing on heavy infantry along with heavy Calvary and light Calvary and skirmishers such as bowmen and crossbowmen acting as support.

History:
The First City States Era (700-640 Years ago)
Initially separate albeit powerful city-states the Balteacs chose to unite in part during times of crisis focusing their efforts on powerful war commanders known as "Autocrats". These leaders exercised sovereign authority during wars and were supposed to step down during peacetime. Due in part to the militant nature of the ancient Balteacs who frequently fought amongst themselves as much as they did outside threats this didn't last long.
The First State (630-500 years ago)
The era of autocrats came partly to an end when the thirteenth autocrat chose not to give up his power during peacetime. This autocrat chose to take the title of "Hierarch", and went on a decades-long campaign to bend the rebellious city-states to their knees in allegiance. After warring amongst his own people for ten years there was a peace that lasted for twenty years. Culture and art flourished during this period under the First Hierarch. Once he believed the people had recovered he launched several campaigns in the outside territories of neighboring empires, and kingdoms.
His military conquests ended 590 years ago after an arrow struck him in the chest. His daughter chose to take the crown as the second Hierarch and crushed any competition to her claims. Afterward, she finished the campaigns and made peace deals ensuring the gains of the state wouldn't be lost in the early years of her reign. The reign of the second hierarch was one of peace, and economic prosperity lasting until she died of old age nearly 520 years ago. The last years of the first state were utter chaos as the regents for her great-grandson practically caused the realm to collapse into infighting by the time he took power.
The Second City-States Era (499-440 years ago)
The foreign territories acquired by the first, and second hierarch rebelled under the third, and with the various city-states rebelling as well the "first state" ultimately collapsed. The city-states took to this new environment by settling old debts, and feuds with one another that was from centuries ago. Eventually, some in the states started to prefer the old order and gradually began influencing the various states in ways that caused bitter wars. The wars caused people to turn against their leaders, and allowed this society to place people in charge they wanted. At a peace conference, the great-great-grandson of the third hierarch boldly proclaimed the formation of the "second state".
Although some rebelled most were tired of war to the point they submitted to the new hierarch and allowed the second state to commence.
The Second State (440-390 years ago)
This fourth hierarch is perhaps the most famous, or perhaps infamous of the old hierarchs depending on who you ask. He not only ruled over the Balteac city states but tripled the size of the empire by the time of his death. He was not shy of grandiose depictions of cruelty, but as well as benevolence, and mercy if his enemies submitted to him peacefully. He was a quiet man in private, but to the public, he was a majestic figure representing the will, and might of the collective Balteacs. That said his death during another military campaign, and the surprising speed at which the enemies of the realm took advantage of this leaves a bitter taste in many mouths.
The Era of Destruction, and Exile (390-360 years ago)
The second state collapsed, but many would be hierarchs continued to resist the enemies of the realm especially the old guard of the military. One even came close to completely beating an invasion into the interior of the Balteac heartland before dying of disease on the campaign trail. Nevertheless after a series of failed campaigns, and disasterous battles the Balteacs left in droves as their cities were burned, and land salted. The last resistance dying out about 360 years ago the Balteacs fled further south and reestablished themselves as splinter nations.
Additional Information:(anything else you want to say?)
I am basically doing this as a placeholder for tonight but will work on it tomorrow afternoon. I intend on it being a nation descended from refugees of a former empire destroyed by the roleplays premier empire sometime far in the past. Recently disunified into dozens of city-states, petty kingdoms, nomadic clans, tribes, and states until a conqueror brought them together by marriage, force, or diplomacy. That said they are all within the same cultural group even if different cultural outlooks have become common because of centuries of seperation.
