Him being anti-abortion is slightly odd considering that he's secretly christian. Him being publicly religious to a degree should be okay and would explain his opposition to abortion, also making for a good source of socialist talking points on other issues.

Running as an Independent is difficult and if he were to win as one he wouldn't do nearly as well as 56% of votes.
