Azazel

To say his hair was a mess would have been putting it lightly, but somehow, the demon bearing the skin of a man was pulling it off, a perfectly fitting t-shirt complementing his jeans. But he couldn't complain. Persephone was fun to be around, so he was not about to start an uproar about these individualized lessons, even if he scoffed at theidea that he needed 'wisdom.'

So, when he arrived, he flashed her a smile, a thought running through his mind that she was, technically, the queen of the dead. And the school nurse.

This place is weird. Might as well roll with it.

"Good morning, Vietnam!" It was only then that he realized that he was receiving a disparaging glare from another woman in the room. "What?"

Otohime

While she herself had been possibly a little earlier than she should have, and she wouldn't have faulted anyone for arriving later, seeing Azazel show up just over a minute before he was supposed to irked her. Especially given his appearance. His entire demeanor reeked of an unrefined and wild individual as opposed to her own modest and conservative outfit.

"Perhaps set an alarm for a bit earlier tomorrow morning? To be blunt, you look like you just rolled out of bed."

Azazel shrugged. In truth, he'd been up since sunset, but she didn't need to know that. "Whatever you say, princess."

Persephone

The goddess of springtime was setting-up her office for the day when she heardThana Azazel’s greeting to the world outside. She knew where Vietnam was, but she did not understand why he was telling Vietnam, “Good morning!” As she checked the supplies in her office and counted the jars of herbs and essential oils, she paused and wondered about what kind of student Azazel might be. She knew he was not the most respectful character, hence why he was being assigned to her as her student. “Good morning! I haven’t been to Vietnam before I don’t think. But I’ve heard their food is quite good! Would you like a muffin?”

At this point she pointed toward a basket of blueberry muffins, freshly-baked and smelling divine. She was quite happy to have only a small group of students, as she could give more personalized advice. She figured that Azazel might need it, given his attitude. “...Remind me again what your attribute was?...I was counting all these jars and I forgot to...um...I forgot what it was,” she answered. She thought it was ‘respect’ or ‘wisdom’, but she was not sure. She also turned to Otohime, cheerfully offering her muffins while trying to remember her attribute as well. “I also have some coffee and some tea! Would you like one or the other to start today? Or I can make both! A happy classroom is a productive classroom, after all!”

Thana

Thana was glad to see that at least two of his students were cheerful, early-risers. He was glad to have them in his class, as small as it was. He of course figured Xavier might be a little spooked by him, given his dark appearance, but Kimiko did not seem to mind at all. Small and eager, he had heard about her cleverness and her reliability working with Hamiri, and so he hoped she would develop into a bright student. “I am glad to see you are both ready to face the day. We are waiting for our last student, however...I would not like to start class with a missing student, for my lessons will be important for you.”

In came Death a few moments later, calmly and nonchalantly approaching the rest of the group. Unlike Xavier, who seemed a little wary of her-as Michael had been the day before-Thana was pleased to see her, as he was with all of his students. When she asked about his lesson, he nodded to the group of them. “Your first lesson will be a team exercise. A difficult one, but one I believe you can accomplish together,” he explained. He then led the group outside, to the far-eastern end of the island. Up by the waterfall was the tall, mighty cavern wall. One could fly to the top easily, but Thana knew better than to allow such shortcuts.

“The three of you will be climbing this cavern wall. You will reach the top together, scaling it without the use of any flying powers, or any powers which can be manipulated to cause flight.” He faced the group, and then looked up at the wall. “Along the way, you will encounter...obstacles. I will not tell you what they are. You have three hours to get to the top. Do you have any questions?”

Xavier raised his hand. “...What sorts of obstacles should we prepare for?” he inquired.

“Any and every obstacle. Life does not announce what you shall face in ten seconds. But do not worry. This task is within your ability to complete. Do you have any other questions?” He looked to both Death and Kimiko.

Kimiko
"I don't have any," she looked up at the waterfall and took note of each piece of rock, patch of foliage, and stray branch that could be used as a foothold. She knew she could easily climb up there on her own, but she wasn't certain about her classmates. She gave both of them a glance over and readied herself to jump to the first foothold in her chosen path, it was a stray branch that sat a solid eight feet above ground level. Kimiko spoke to her classmates without looking back, "I can jump up onto a stable place and help you two to climb up if you are unable to," her ears changed angle and faced behind her slightly as she awaited a response.

Apophis

The sound of blinds being slightly parted would be heard within the almost empty room. Between the gap and behind the window hide two golden eyes filled with spite as they stare at the rising sun. The clock rings within the room, making the figure grunt and turn towards the door. Garbed in silk and linen, adorned by gold, sapphires and rubies, Apophis marches out disatisfied. Monstrous beings, as if marble carved into hideous forms of man and snake meshed together, rose from his shadow to lift two items that resemble umbrellas. These two creatures would remind anyone of the Hecatoncheires but rather than heads and arms it was snake and human parts.

The sun's shine seem to even darken at the presence of the God of Chaos, never forgetting the fear of its Lord against his mortal enemy. The sound of metal to stone would ring at every step as Apophis' staff would hit the floor. Today is another day to be spent with doing what children do: learning. Never has Apophis thought that he will be held captive by these upstart youngsters and force him with education. A snake, red and vibrant with its scales, flew up ahead with two feathered wings. It first circled above Apophis before guiding him towards an open field, the courtyard, where the resident drunkard and resident prudent awaits.

The two grotesque umbrella holding monsters drove what they were holding down the earth and they slithered back to Apophis' shadow along with the flying snake guide. Apophis stood underneath the shade, irritatedly tapping his staff on the ground. The grass where his staff is hitting is slowly decaying every passing second. He stood there, staring disapprovingly at Michael and Hyperion.

He stood there, staring disapprovingly at Michael and Hyperion.

“What he said wasn’t that funny,” Michael said to Hyperion, as the former was laughing at the reference Azazel had made while entering Persephone’s office. The sun god was bellowing with laughter, while the archangel shook his head and looked over his clipboard. At least Hyperion did not smell too badly of alcohol this morning. Maybe he had actually remembered to try and cover the smell this time, maybe with some aftershave. When Hamiri and Patriah both came over, neither of them seemed to notice the smell. “Good morning, kids!”

“Hello, good to see you,” Hamiri spoke, smiling. She gave a look to Hyperion as he wiped a tear from his eye. He was odd for a teacher-she did not remember many teachers from her world being so laidback and...wild. Most of her own teacherrs were straight-laced and calm. She wondered what sort of lesson they were going to give her. As she was thinking, Patriah arrived nearby, looking about as unenthusiastic as ever about coming to a class. “It’ll be worth it, I’m sure,” she assured him.

Patriah only gave a rough grumble. He wanted to get breakfast and then to go back to bed. After having failed his test and having caused his teammate to get disqualified during said test, he had no desire to go back to a class and to make more costly mistakes. However, as he was grumbling underneath his breath, he noticed that another student had arrived, the third student in Hyperion and Michael’s group. He shuddered, and so did Hamiri, as they recognized Apophis. With an umbrella made of snakes and a glare made to kill, both knew that he would not make a very cooperative or fun teammate.

Michael was aware of this possibility, and had not been too pleased to swap with Osiris for Apophis. However, Hera and Zeus had insisted this decision was best for the school. When Apophis marched over, decorated with gems on his clothing and with his hissing umbrella, he gave the same smile he gave to the other students. “How did you sleep last night? Ready for the lesson today?” he inquired.

Apophis

A grumbling, hissing voice escape from Apophis' mouth as the archangel before him asked of his nightly affair. "I do not sleep nor do I have the need to do so." Indeed, as one of the Lords of the Hours of the Night, Apophis presides over one of the nightly hours and a segment of the Underworld. The immortal being has no need of sleep nor rest and, in his eternal struggle against Ra, only the nightly bindings of Isis and the protectors of Ra could give him a couple hours of rest.

The Snake God looked towards the two younger entities that joined the class. Both seem to be magical of nature however the woman seem to walked the path of a swordswoman while the man primarily a mage. "Magi. Magicians. You children remind me of the good old days. Keep that up." The God laughed softly, making him seem suspicious. It was almost uncomfortable for such a compliment to come from a dark God. His golden eyes returned to Michael and the archangel could feel evil hiding behind the gleam and shine, a greater evil than the demons they have banished during Lucifer's rebellion. "Say angel, what will we be doing here? Combat?"

His golden eyes returned to Michael and the archangel could feel evil hiding behind the gleam and shine, a greater evil than the demons they have banished during Lucifer's rebellion. "Say angel, what will we be doing here? Combat?"

Michael gave Apophis a long look as he felt the primordial evil that radiated from this being. Looking back down toward his clipboard, he re-noted the attributes they needed to develop. Hamiri had self-confidence, Patriah had patience, and Apophis...had justice. A god of evil needing to learn justice...This is going to be a long year...unless we do something rather drastic... His eyes flickered back to the students, and then he looked at Hyperion. “...Well, combat will be a part of today’s exercise. It will not be the entire exercise, but I think you’ll be...curious once you hear what we’ve planned,” he explained.

Hyperion decided to elaborate after he finally stopped giggling. “...Alright! So you three are all pretty good fighters from what we saw yesterday. That’s right...” He looked over at Apophis and smirked knowingly. “I saw that snake-trick you did with Xavier. Pretty slick, I didn’t say anything because you weren’t using tear gas in the-” Michael reminded him to keep on topic with a light cough, and then the sun god continued. “Yes, we will be sparring today! It’ll be a three-way brawl, but with a catch.” He walked over to three, and clipped a tag to an ear on each student.

“...Huh?...Hey wait a minute! We’re not cattle! What is this?!” Patriah demanded, stepping back for a second before Hyperion grabbed his arm and stuck the clip on his ear. He could not see the tag, which made him more annoyed. Then he could not help but feel anxious around Apophis. He hoped this lesson would be quick, whatever it was.

“Each of your clips has a particular spell that you can use once per combat. However, we’re not going to tell you what that spell is,” Hyperion explained. He then nodded back to Michael, who looked up and added to his explanation. “This match will not be timed. It will go until one or two of you are knocked unconscious. Of course, once again, unconscious does not mean ‘coma’. You can knock someone out without trying to kill them, if you’re creative enough. Now...we’ll head to the beach, and I want to see each of you use the tag at least once. There’s a twist to the spells as well, but we’ll explain that once you get there.”

Hamiri frowned. A battle with Apophis, right off the bat? Patriah looked more excited than she did. She knew that Apophis, as a god, was more skilled with Magic than either of them. At the same time, however, given her attribute, she knew she needed to be confident in herself. She could hold a fight against this evil deity. As Hyperion finished talking, she drew her sword and got into position. Patriah did the same, and as they eyed each other, she had an idea. We need to attack Apophis together and take him down, then the two of us can fight each other to know the winner. That’s the only way we can handle this fight without ending-up severely hurt...

Patriah gave her a smirk in return. He was indeed excited at the idea of fighting Apophis, and as Michael and Hyperion moved to allow the students to get into their positions, he stood away from both Hamiri and Apophis. “...Any rules for powers we can use?!” he called to Hyperion.

“No attempted murder!” the sun god repeated.

Michael nodded in agreement, and looked at the group. “Any other questions before we start?” Hamiri and Patriah both shook their heads, so he looked to Apophis.

Apophis

"A spar then? A little show of magic and strength? Oh I dearly forgot that infants these days now need to learn how to kill without any killing." He smirked as he stared back at Michael, looking pure, reserved and professional with his clipboard, and Hyperion, who looks like half a hobo and another a wayward dog by the streets. The God of Chaos hissed as Hyperion tried to come near him and a shadowy tentacle emerged to snatch the clip off his hands. The clip flew towards his left ear and adhered itself beside the golden sapphire embedded earring. The God discreetly felt for the magical signature of the artifact and indeed does it contain a single use spell. He stood underneath the umbrellas' shade as he half listened for the instructions while he analyzed the spell enchanted within the tag.

Basically the match of the day is an untimed death match but without "death". Simply knocking out your opponents will suffice. Fatal injuries are prohibited but anything else is fair and square. Apophis nodded and waved his hand, the umbrellas folding themselves and dissintegrating out of thin air. He turned his back and followed the two divine teachers along with the two scheming children. Apophis wasn't stupid with all the thousands of hundreds of years of lifetime that he had. He saw species die and rise and saw the rise of humanity from mindless swinging primates to bipedal hairless monkeys. He can see what the two youngsters are planning with just their eyes. They will team up to get rid of him.

Apophis twirled his staff in his hand as they reached the beach. He positioned himself by the banks where the waves are hitting his sandals. The sun above should have started to shine brighter, and should even be brighter than normal under the presence of Hyperion, but Apophis' authority is suppressing it at every moment. It felt like a perpetual gloom is bearing down on the other four, on the two other students even more so. The Lord of Chaos looked at the two, who finished their gazes filled with devious planning, and called. "Well? Do you two want to get the first initiative?"

Apophis’s evil aura grew stronger as the fight drew to its start. Michael watched the three combatants with a stoic face, ready to take notes about their progress. Hyperion, on the other hand, pulled a beer out from somewhere and held it in one hand. The archangel gave him a look, but then he simply rolled his eyes and decided to let him do what he wanted for now. “Whenever you kids want to start, feel free!” he called.

Hamiri twirled her sword, and gave another glance to Apophis. His taunt toward her was quite cold and condescending, but she had experienced far worse than a god of evil taunting her. Since Apophis had not yet fought her, she decided to hide her Magic for now, and to focus on wearing him down. “...Sure. I guess I can start...” With her leg healed from the day before, springing forward with her sword caused her little to no pain. A frontal assault might not be the best option, but she could focus on finding his blind-spot. She rushed toward him with her black blade, ready to cut across his face.

Patriah, on the other hand, decided to use his tag almost immediately. He trusted his Magic, but given Apophis’s power and sheer malice, he knew he would need a boost. When he pulled the tag off his ear, the spell activated, and a ring of bright-gold light floated around his body. The ring then molded around him, and he found himself covered in gold armor, fitted with huge, mechanical-looking, silver wings, a helmet with a “unicorn” horn, a diamond-brimmed visor, and a diamond sword. “...THIS IS THE BEST POWER-UP EVER!!!” he shouted. Trying to see if he could maneuver the armor, he jumped into the air and found that the wings seemed to power themselves. If he wanted to move forward, the wings flew him forward. He held his sword ready, and then flew to dive-bomb on Apophis. “I’LL CUT YOU INTO A PAIR OF BOOTS YOU SNAKESKIN FREAK!!!!” he screamed.

As they started, Michael eyed Hyperion as Patriah activated his tag. Hyperion nodded to him and took a swig of his beer-a lime-flavored Corona-and the archangel took notes. He had expected for Patriah to be impatient, but now he wanted to see how using the armor would affect his combat. In the meantime, Apophis and Hamiri were about to collide.

Apophis

And thus the fight began. Apophis' stance was extremely lax with his staff by his side, lightly held by his fingers, and his other hand placed carefreely on his hips. "Show me the extent of your brillance, Magi!" He watched as the swordswoman in front of her dashed towards him in a reckless charge, seemingly an obvious and immediate distraction for her partner to do something big at the get go. Indeed the giant boy made his move, to activate the one use item given to them to grant them an edge in battle. With his new powered suit and set of glimmering, yet clunky in Apophis' opinion, wings, he joined the battle by attacking by air. The diversion of humanoid attention through the y-axis is incredibly useful as a human shaped body can't handle quick movements in the y-axis.

However, Apophis' counter attack didn't make sense. His body moved unnaturally, twisting in a way that no human should ever be able to, as he used the crook of his staff to catch Hamiri's slash. Now with her blade trapped with the hook, Apophis' supernatural might and flexibility turned him into a catapult, one that threw Hamiri at extreme speeds towards the waters behind the evil God. He didn't forget the flying juggernaut above too as the wind pressure created by his swing affected his flight, directing his divebomb towards where Hamiri made her splash. The God of Chaos smirked at the results and swiftly made a gesture where his pointer finger pointed towards the skies and savagely drew and threw down a red lightning bolt down the waters. "How creative. As if I've never seen that tactic before in my life."

Apophis's body moved unnaturally, almost like the snakes he controlled. Before she could stop her attack, Hamiri was caught in a counter-attack, a parry which caused her sword to get caught in his crook. She moved to defend herself, but before she could move her arms in front of herself, she felt her body fly toward the water. With a splash she landed just past the shore, and took a moment to come back to the surface. Her sword landed on the shoreline, and immediately she realized she was at a disadvantage. She needed to get her sword, but even worse, she needed to now figure-out how he moved. She decided to use her own magic for now, and as she swam to the beach, stars began to appear in the morning sky, high above the rest of the group. The sky darkened a little as well...

"Oh come on, what do you kids have against sunlight? It's good for you and it helps you grow!" Hyperion commented as he sensed Night Magic around him. Of course, as he took another sip of his beer and made a loud, obnoxious belch, he muttered differently under his breath. "...Oh gods, my head is pounding. Please, by all means, turn off the sun..." At that point, Michael snatched the beer out of his hand. He went to protest, but the archangel did not look toward him. Instead he watched the fight on the battlefield.

"Heheheh...you wanna see brilliance? YOU GOT IT!" Patriah called. He held his sword toward the sky, and lightning crashed down toward the earth over Apophis's head. Michael looked ready to jump into the fight already, but he paused. He waited, starting toward the sky to see how Apophis would respond. After all, once the first streak fell, more would fall as well.

Apophis

"I AM THE LORD OF THE SEVENTH HOUR!" The banishment of the sun through the invocation of nighttime only served to increase Apophis' power, making his very gaze suffocating as he stared at the screaming winged Mage. Golden cracks appeared on his bronze tan skin, almost like molten golden veins that seemingly trace fine details of scales. When Patriah's lightning bolt fell down upon the God of Chaos' head, his hand caught it with blinding speed and his staff redirected it back to Patriah. The lightning bolt was amplified many more times, veering on divine authority. It wasn't a lightning bolt in that essence any longer; it was a divine blade of searing white, blue and purple.

For Hamiri's case, the Lord of Isfet wasn't done with her. The waters started to churn violently into a whirlpool, dragging her further away from the shore, towards a ghastly maw of razor sharp teeth that resembled a crocodile's. Apophis raised his staff and dozens of lightning bolts befell down on the water, now a brilliant blood red that held the power of chaos and catastrophe. Several more scarlet lightning entangled with the subsequent bolts that came from Patriah, like snakes devouring the lesser. His golden eyes looked at the airborne Mage and Patriah would feel like his body would stiffen in response. "Is that the extent of your sorcery? What a shame."

Using Night Magic was a bit of a mistake, Hamiri thought, as she saw Apophis grinning from ear-to-ear and shouting his title toward them. The sky got dark, giving both of them an advantage with Night Magic, but Apophis was more skilled than she. As she managed to climb out of the water and rushed to the shoreline, she saw the Chaos God grab a bolt of lightning in his hands. “PATRIAH LOOK-OUT!” she screamed, as she watched with horror as he threw the bolt back at her companion.

“Already on it!” he shouted, moving out of the way of the lightning as it nearly struck him. Even while he was protected by the holy armor, he could feel the pure writhing energy of the lightning grazing him, causing his body to pull far away in fear. “...How on earth?!...How does being a God of Night allow him to catch lightning?! Are we missing something here?!” He then looked below as he heard a scream.

Apophis had taken control of the water, and now it tried to drag Hamiri out away from the shoreline. It was a blood-red color, and crackled with lightning. Something horribly unnatural. Before she could get swept away, however, Hamiri unfolded her black raven’s wings and shot into the sky. She then flew overhead, past Apophis, and away from the direction of the monstrous typhoon. “Patriah! Hit him with something! I’ve got an idea, but you need to deal with him first!” She then began to concentrate her mind on something in the sky around her.

“I told you I’m on it!” Patriah responded by taking his sword and slashing it toward the earth. As he made the wide, swinging motion downward, dozens of slim, crackling streaks of holy lightning speared the earth repeatedly. They grazed the Chaos God and even brought down the typhoon, making every place Apophis walked a mine ready to electrocute him. Even the water now was unsafe. Yet before he tried to fire a lightning strike on Apophis again, this time he used his own Magic. He summoned his own sword this time, held it in his other hand, and then slashed them both so that they formed an ‘x’ in front of him. The lightning and wind came together, and a massive tornado surrounded Apophis. Lightning crashed within the tornado, and the huge maw of the whirlwind threatened to eat him alive. Even if he had not been directly hit, Apophis had been slashed by the hot lightning in several places. “I HOPE YOU LIKE YOUR SNAKES COOKED, CAUSE I’M SERVING YOURS TO YOU BURNT!!!” he threatened.

“Sounds like a plan,” Xavier answered with a smile, “I can also move myself off the ground and then catch the two of you while you’re coming up. That could also be helpful.” He looked up at the cavern, and then stared with shock when he saw Thana standing right at the top. He had apparently moved while the group had been talking, and now they knew their challenge had begun. Xavier took his wheel-staff and he turned it a couple of notches. “Watch this,” he told Death and Kimiko. He held the staff toward the ground, and then a huge, crimson fireball exploded from under him.

As chunks of earth spewed around him, he flew into the air, and he whirled his staff so that it faced the wall. As he began to fall, he stabbed his spear into the rock, and hung-on tight. Looking below to his teammates, he called, “Climb up here and I’ll try to do that again! We’ll move up this way!” As he spoke, however, he noticed something rather frightening crawling out of some of the cracks in the rocks. First, one tiny, shadowy creature squeezed its way out of the rock, almost like a roach. Yet it was no roach.

With a body like a snake and wings like a hawk, these tiny creatures pulled themselves into the light of day, slithering on and off the rock. Some even fell like rain toward the earth, charging Kimiko and Death. Their eyes were red and they spat tiny sparks of flame. One of these would have been easily defeatable, but the amount of them seemed endless. Hundreds covered the cavern wall, painting it black with their shadowy forms, and some even tried to grab for Xavier’s staff. “Uh oh...So this is...what Thana was talking about?!” he muttered to himself. He began trying to push and to kick them off, shooting fireballs at them with a free hand as well. “Guys, we have to move quickly!” he called below.

Patriah ate at least five plates of every food from his world which he could name-recipes he had to describe to Hestia, for her to cook them, which caused everyone else to have to wait a couple minutes while he described them. Nevertheless, because the goddess of the hearth worked quickly, nobody was left to grumble for long. Everyone had different plans for their money and their rings, while the teachers had plans for all of the new students.

The next day came, and with everyone recuperated, lessons could officially begin. When everyone awakened and looked outside their doors, they would find a note on the ground. Groups of the students had been placed together based on the traits which they had been given. Otohime, Razorclaw, and Azazel were to go see Persephone. Hamiri, Patriah, and Hermes were to go to Michael and Hyperion. Nyarlathetop and Apophis were to go to Osiris. Xavier, Kimiko, and Death were to see Thana.

When Patriah had slumped out of bed and had found his note, he was confused. He was being personally requested to go see Michael and Hyperion, and was being told this was a part of his lesson. When the reality hit him, he groaned. “...This is about yesterday’s stupid test. Lovely...Probably just gonna tell me I failed and then I’ll tell him what I think...” he muttered, as he pulled a pair of pants over his shorts and grabbed his bag. Looking at his pants, he did realize the patches on the knees were falling apart. Maybe Hamiri was right about me needing new clothes... he thought grimly. He then headed out to the courtyard.

Hamiri was there before Patriah, and she stood waiting for her other classmates to arrive. She had also been summoned to see Michael and Hyperion, but she did not know what to expect. Apparently the teachers had plans for all the students, and Kimiko had not gotten a similar note. She wondered what sorts of lessons all the students would receive. ...What do I need to learn about trust?...I’m so confused. I trust the right people, and I distrust those who need to earn my trust...What have I done wrong?... she wondered.

Xavier went to Thana’s office, wondering why he had been summoned himself. He had not done anything wrong, and he mused in his mind that the second day of school was a little early to be sent to the vice-principal’s office. He knocked on the door, and heard no sound on the other side. “...Hello?...Anyone there?” he muttered. He knocked again. Still no answer. With a frown, he wondered if Thana was elsewhere. He turned around, and he jumped back a little. Thana had appeared, dressed all in black and looking as ethereal and mysterious as usual.

“...Good morning, Xavier! How are you?” Thana questioned cheerfully, as though nothing had happened.

“...Oh! I slept fine, and I feel good this morning, thank you. Where are the other students?...” he inquired.

“Oh, they should be coming soon. Did I scare you?” the professor inquired.

Xavier shook his head and chuckled. “I just didn’t expect to see you there. Is this about yesterday’s lesson?”

Thana nodded. “Yes, all of your classmates are being grouped to get their close lessons with their mentors. I will be your mentor, as well as Death and Kimiko’s mentors. I believe we will have a very productive year,” he explained, with a knowing smile.

Kimiko

Kimiko woke up and saw the letter with instructions telling her to go meet Thana. She knew that it had something to do with yesterday's trial and was rather excited to see what was in store. She took her time ti get ready, grooming her tail to perfection and picking out the best outfit for today. She chose to wear a black and deep blue school outfit, she brushed her teeth and departed to meet her Instructor.

Upon arrival she saw Thana and Xavier, she waved her hand back and forth with a bright smile in her face, "Good morning!" Normally in the mornings she would be groggy and slow, but the promise of knowledge and progress gave her energy. She stood next to Xavier and Thana, both of them were taller than her so she was forced to look up at them. She awaited the orders of her Instructor, willing to complete any task to further herself.

Nyarlathotep
Nyaru had claimed a dorm the previous day, she wanted to be alone in her dorm so she had waited that extra day. She awoke to find the notice and was astonished to see that she was supposed to meet with Osiris. She didn't argue with the request and began to prepare herself for the meeting. She took off the jacket that she wore during the meeting in the infirmary, the wound had fully healed but she could not say the same for her favorite dress. Maybe she could take it to either Hestia or Persephone later in the day, "Either one of them could fix it, I believe," she spoke aloud to herself as she took the dress off. She hadn't brought many outfits with her so she was left with three choices, swimwear, jeans and a t-shirt, or she could take on her masculine form. Nyaru wanted to remain recognizable so she choose the jeans and shirt.

She left her dorm and began heading to meet Osiris, she didn't know the place all that well but she managed to find it rather quickly. She walked into the room and saw Osiris, "Good morning Osiris." She spoke very casually even though she held an air of formality in her mannerisms. "So when do we get started?" she was eager to finish her lesson and get her dress fixed.

Osiris was in his classroom, which looked like a pretty normal history class. An enormous map of the modern world lined one wall, and on the other was a map of the world during the time of Ancient Egypt. Diagrams and infographics on ancient civilizations lined the other walls, a timeline of the Earth was taped to wrap around each of the four corners of the room, and then several different globes from different times in Earth’s history sat on a shelf near the back. In the places in which maps were not visible, bookshelves of history books both ancient and new lined the shelves, with smaller atlases and reference books up top and enormous encyclopedias, journals, and textbooks near the bottom. In the spirit of “normal” American education, he had many history novels as well, both well-known and obscure. Today, however, his small class would not be reading.

Hermes was late, an event he had predicted would happen based on yesterday’s behavior. If even Zeus could not make him come to class, then Nyarlathetop would be his only student for the day. One-on-one education was the optimal condition for education anyway, so he was not complaining. He would find a way to bring Hermes to class some other time. For now, however, he wanted to get Nyaru started. He stood from behind his desk, nodded to her, and then moved from behind his desk. “Nyarlathetop. Child of Azathoth. No I do not fear your father’s name, for death as any being may bring, I am a god who rules over death and judgment. During my class we will focus on your attribute, but more than your attribute as well. I will demonstrate to you what history truly means.”

He walked out toward her, with a small book in his hand. The book had no title, but was in an old, leathery binding and full of parchment pages. “Every book in this room is finite knowledge, which may help those who are indeed finite. You however are not finite. You are the Crawling Chaos, and so I will reveal to you order. The many orders of history and of the universe. Tell me, child. When you think ‘history’, what comes to mind? What is the concept you know that is ‘history’?” he inquired.

Luminesa wrote:Using Night Magic was a bit of a mistake, Hamiri thought, as she saw Apophis grinning from ear-to-ear and shouting his title toward them.

Apophis

The God watched the two, now both winged, Mages try to throw down what they thought would be the best way to neutralize him. Lightning scorched the land and electrified the earth, becoming a deadly field of crackling white and blue. The waters are unsafe as it almost glowed white with the sheer amount of electricity it harbored. The only safe place is the sky, where he must evade lightning strikes that come down every single moment.

A tempest surrounded him, roaring with blades of wind and thunder, slashing at his humanoid body. The smell of ozone was overpowering and would make one's senses disoriented. Indeed it was true that Apophis' body should be scarred and marred by the assault, as any mortal body should be, but the two Mages forgot or perhaps didn't know something. The Lord of Calamity calmly walked through the tornado, the violent winds parting like a gentle cascade of water. Apophis walked with majesty as he smirked towards the pair and slammed his staff down. The tornado collapsed on its own and from his staff the ground grew cracks. The earth shook and trembled as a fissure first appeared before it worsened and became a ravine and then a gaping hole where lava deep underground awaits.

A beam of noxious dark red light flew up, containing Apophis' body. The light dimmed to a faint aura as he came up to their level. "You are less than brawns than what I've thought. Now then swordswoman... I heard you had a trick in your sleeve? Show me."

“...Are you suuure we shouldn’t stop this fight yet?” Hyperion inquired, concerned as lightning strikes of various colors seemed to fill the beach and the ocean. Thunder boomed from every angle. The sky was black with stars. If one did not know this was only a part of a class lesson, they would have thought that Armageddon had begun. “These kids are going to end-up killing someone, if not each other.”

“I don’t think so. Let’s see...” Michael stopped writing for a few moments, unafraid of the wild chaos around him. His eyebrows did rise, however, when he watched Apophis crack the earth open with a mere tap of his staff. Red-hot lava bubbled below, and one wrong move could end with a student melting in the hellish quagmire. “...That however, is worrying...”

“YOU THINK?!” Hyperion shouted, staring back toward the students. Neither of them were on the ground, but if they stopped flying and were stuck to the ground, then the battle might become more deadly. He did not like this turn of events, even with his brain and stomach as full of alcohol as they were.

Patriah was horrified at the way Apophis shrugged his attack. He had managed to scratch him, but scratches were not enough. Apophis still had a very confident, cruel look on his face, and now the world around the students seemed to be a minefield for disaster. Any attacks he or Hamiri had only seemed to make the battle more dangerous for themselves, and not for Apophis. “...There’s got to be something...anything...” He held-out his hand, and in it a cluster of stars twinkled. Those stars crackled, and became a ball of light. The ball of light flowed through the sword, before it formed in front of him a massive orb. “...Oh! That’s pretty cool!” he commented. He then threw the orb toward Apophis, hoping it was big enough to hit him. The orb looked like a tiny sun falling out of the heavens above, and he hoped the impact would be just as catastrophic for Apophis.

In the meantime, Apophis had challenged Hamiri to use her Magic. She had been preparing it carefully, far from the reach of any of the Chao God’s attacks. She waited patiently for an opening, and as Patriah attacked, she knew she had that opening. The night sky above her swirled, and then so did the earth below. Reality seemed to bend in her hand, and the earth turned black. One could now no longer tell the difference between the sky and the ground. The Magic also covered the enormous fissures in the ground, so falling would only result in falling into more of the sky. As she played with the starry sky she had created below, another orb rose to attack Apophis.

The attack started as a swirling pool of starry ground below his feet, and then threw him off the ground as an orb formed. The orb grew larger and larger, and then flew in the direction of the orb of light, which was also about to hit Apophis. The two huge orbs clashed, night and day exploding before everyone, with Apophis sandwiched somewhere in the middle. Stars and bursts of light flew everywhere, creating streaks of stars and color that blasted into the sky above...and below. The two teachers watched, impressed and awed, at this raw display of power. Hamiri, on the other hand, waited with bated breath.

Apophis

The earth below reflected the sky above, darkening as Night Magic approached greater heights. The churning blood waters of the sea became abyssal black, glimmering with stars, and everything around them was plastered by black and shining starlight. "So you do know a little thing about Space Magic and declaration of domains... You magicians are of a higher caliber than I thought." The God watched his sureoundings with passing interest as it seems that he has seen this show of power many times before. The God's insignificant injuries have already vanished away, his singed and ruffled clothing fixed into pristine white condition too. He was an irregularity in the chaos around him, the eye of the tempest of disorder and disaster.

Two forces tried to topple the eye off its pedestal: a shining falling star and a storm of black swirls. The resulting blast and explosion became a blinding and magnificent light work, like a supernova that signified the end of a proud star. Fragments of star matter fell from the impact site and down to the endless abyss below. Stardust floated around the battlefield, glowing purple, orange, and brilliant blue as dust, helium and hydrogen burned the very atmosphere. The air distorted, the fabric of spacetime corrupted to a degree where miniature blackholes spasm in and out of existence to devour the resulting calamity. As the dust, light, and flames vanish, a single entity remained standing in the rubbles of the explosion.

His proud garb of linen and jewels were gone, burned away by flames of thousands of degrees. His skin was merely scorched, like the burnt surface of a badly made toast. His eyes were burning gold, his skin cracking to reveal golden red like veins. His burnt skin crusted and fell off like it was nothing, showing untarnished bronze complexion and rippling muscles. His grin was wide and sneering, almost like a snakes, and chains of shining sapphire and ruby circle around him and ends with a deadly spearhead. His hands hold two orbs, night and day. "Wonderful work, mortal Magi. You succeeded in delighting me." His rough and low voice felt like sickening honey to their necks. "It's time to repay the debt, magicians." The two orbs disengaged, orbitted around Apophis, and grew in size. Within a couple revolutions, both orbs became two great celestial objects, a miniature sun and a miniature moon. The chains that surrounded Apophis' body entangled against the two, holding onto them to create a circle where both are at the opposide sides. The sun-moon orbit moved in front of Apophis and spun, creating a blazing gold and silver circle that started to give birth to runic characters beyond Hamiri's and Patriah's magical comprehension. "Accept my own spellcraft! Selena Solis!" Tyrannical magic burst forth from the middle of the circle, acting as a death ray of lunar and solar energies that destroyed Hamiri's night domain. Apophis guided his death ray to destroy the spacial phenomena and sought to turn the ray against his opponents.

Hamiri and Patriah were both awed and horrified when they saw that Apophis had managed to take their combined attacks with little to no damage. Of course, he managed to lose his clothes, which was burned in the incredible explosion. His skin was also burned and cracking away, but underneath was a vision to frighten even the most powerful magicians. His human skin cracked away slowly, revealing a beautiful and terrifying visage of bronze underneath, not unsimilar to Daniel’s vision of the Angel Gabriel. His eyes glowed red, and his voice was...unworldly, to say the least. Low, rumbling, ferocious, cruel...

In his hands were two orbs, representing night and day. They shined wondrously, and then began to grow in size. “...Are you KIDDING ME?!” Patriah yelled, holding his two swords in front of him as he awaited the coming attack. What they saw unfolding before them was a Magic attac unlike anything they had ever seen. The two spheres collided and created a ring of silver and gold light. From this ring glowed mysterious runes...and then a death ray. A ray of light so powerful that it would bend space and stretch matter out of existence.

“MOVE!” Hamiri flew out of the path of the death ray, and she sweat bullets as she tried to think of a quick plan. Something, anything to dissengage the attack. She looked toward Hyperion and Michael. Part of her hoped they would stop the fight, and based on his urgent expression, Michael looked ready to do so. Before he did, however, she wanted to show that she could at least hold her own. “...Patriah, you think you could...you know...”

He looked at her funny for a moment, as he floated next to her. “...You want me to do...THAT?...HERE?!”

“HE’S TRYING TO KILL US. And the teachers aren’t doing anything!” she hissed.

“It’s a test, you and I both know that! They wanna see if we can defy death!” he shouted. After thinking for a moment, he did the unthinkable. Shooting to the Earth before he could be shot, he stripped himself of the armor. Underneath, he was bare-chested and wearing only his long pants. He stared up toward Hamiri, who nodded, and then toward Apophis. “...Wanna see a Magic trick, Snake Eyes? Watch this Wind Mage disappear...and reappear!”

A blowing whirlwind arose, this time stronger than anything the teachers had seen yet. Magical runes of his own began to glow an emerald-green on Patriah’s body, spiraling around his face and chest and covering his arms and legs. He did indeed seem to disappear in a burning glow of green light, and emerged from that light in a blinding flash. When he was visible again, however, his body had transformed. Before Apophis now was a fierce, giant dragon covered in sharp emerald spines. Even his wings looked as though they were made of metal, and his now-enormous red eyes seemed as though they could pierce diamonds.

“...Did that kid...just become a dragon?!” Hyperion questioned, before he stared at his sixth bottle of Corona with confusion.

“That alcohol is not strong enough to make you see things. Yes, that’s a dragon,” Michael answered dryly, taking note of the sudden change in the battle.

Without waiting for an opening shot, Patriah aimed directly for the death ray. Throwing his head back, he pulled forward and hurled a steady stream of emerald fire at the ray. Even if he caused an explosion, he needed to be able to stop the attack somehow. His wings unfurled, and he prepared to take to the skies if the attack did not work.

In the meantime, Hamiri curled her arms so that they formed a cross in front of her chest. She closed her eyes, and the night sky around her seemed to swirl and ripple. The stars twinkled frantically, and the sky turned colors, from a dark-blue to a pewter-grey to a bright-green to a violent purple and then to black. Over and over, the sky seemed to bend as she wished. She had her own attack planned once again, more elaborate and hopefully a better trap than the last...

Apophis

Apophis' magic annihiliated Hamiri's initial trap. The gold and silver beam of light destroyed the night domain around them, the night sky crumbling away back to magical energies. The dark stormy sky was back and so is the abyssal pit beneath them. Lightning came back crashing into the battlefield, red, white, blue and purple streaks of electricity scarring the sky. The two Mages' efforts to isolate themselves into their little bubble of order was shattered and chaos reigns once again. Just as Apophis would have almost turned his weapon against them, a sudden change occured.

The Wind Mage said his taunts and proceeded with his magic act. His armor was cast aside, leaving him only equipt with pants and... nothing much. A whirlwind blew around himself and magical runes and inscriptions rose from his body, transforming him into emerald light and then into something else. The beast of legends, the highest of the order of life, sprung out of the light to confront the Evil God before them. The dragon, with its harsh emerald thorn like spikes and bright metallic shine, stretched its wings and flew directly towards the entity wreathed in the power of chaos. Apophis saw the light shining in its jaws and smiled. The solar-lunar spell formation spun even faster as it gathered a globe of tremendous energy in the middle of the circle, aimed at Patriah and his cone of green flame. The duality of night and day brought forth dusk and dawn, orange and purple and light blue and soft yellows clashed against verdant green. A shockwave sends Patriah tumbling away in the sky and Hamiri pushed back significantly.

However, the flames didn't come. There should have been a gigantic blast of flame and light and energy from the impact but there came nothing. As the Mage pair and the teacher duo refocuses their eyes towards the impact site, there is a swirling sphere where chaotic and tumultuous power rages. High above was the Lord of this phenomena, smiling as it slowly shrinks into something the size of an adult man's torso. It was the shape of a scale, burning with hellish fire and shrouded by blackness. From the sticky shadows erupted amorphous shapes, which grew scales, limbs, wings, claws, and teeth. Now the pair thought they'd only need to deal with Apophis but now they needed to deal with another foe: a dragon just like Patriah but this one is a legitimate reptillian overlord. Four great wings adorned its armored back, horns that seem to be writhing spires decorated its skull like a crown, its snout and tail reaching hundreds of metres in length. The dragon roared and it shook the sky and caused storm clouds to form, caused the earth to break even more, caused the sea to meet the sky. Lightning and rain from above, flames and abyss down below, and tornadoes and water spouts in between. The God of Chaos clapped his hands and addressed the dragon. "Chaos Dragon Bahamut. Deal with the green lizard for me."

Bahamut roared a challenge and tackled down Patriah, down into the ravaged land. Its claws held onto his metallic wings and seem to desire to rip them off his shoulders while its fangs dug into his neck. As roars and the sound of earthquakes filled the scorched earth, Apophis calmly walked towards Hamiri. It looked ridiculous to be walking on air but the visage of the God was suffocating, his aura encompassing with dread and fear. "You and me, swordswoman." The chains appeared on his hands, wicked and barbed. The spearhead, now closer Hamiri could identify it as what is called a scorpion tail, hanged heavily. "Grace me with a duel."

"He summoned a dragon?!" Hyperion shouted. He turned and stared at Michael, who was perturbed. He held the pen in his hand neck to his lip, thinking hard. Neither of the teachers knew quite how to react to the scale of this fight now. Now both of them wanted to stop the fight, but neither one knew which should take the first move. Hyperion could not even tell if Apophis had used his tag yet. "...Michael...what do you wanna do?" he muttered. When Michael did not respond, the two teachers could only continue observing.

Patriah braced himself for the new dragon's attack, even as he crashed to the ground on his back. Holding back the clawed attack with his own claws, the two pairs of claws fought back and forth, pushing to try and keep one from slashing into the other. The other dragon was terrifying, however. Almost demonic, its black scales gleamed in the chaotic atmosphere. Its four wings looked unnatural, just like the body of its summoner. The Wind Mage knew he had to act quickly, given that he now had to kill this dragon and then reach the death ray. GET OFF YOU GIANT FREAK!! Patriah roared, as he fired a blazing green flame, almost like a long stream of ignited crystal, into the face of the other dragon.

Hamiri steeled herself as she saw the imminent duel. Gathering the Night Magic around her, she held her trusted Witchblade in front of her, glistening as dark as the night sky around them. Despite losing her trap, she knew a one-on-one fight was her best chance right now. Tricks would not work on a god who thrived on tricks. She needed to be faster than a god, an impossible feat. If she could just keep-up, however, maybe she could find an opening. "...Let's go," she muttered. She rushed him for a forward assault again, but this time she jumped over his head, doing a flip in the air. When she came down, she slashed down toward his head. Knowing he could blast her into the sky, she created a shield out of the Night Magic around her, and held it at her elbow.

Death looks up the wall, poking and testing its stiffness. She nods, before placing one of her feet on it. She ponders, inspecting the wall in an odd fashion. After everyone starts climbing, she seemingly defies gravity. Her feet move up the wall as she seemingly begins walking up it as if she was on normal ground. Interestingly, her hair and jacket seem to be pointed straight down as if they were the only things on her body affected by gravity.

She then catches up with them, turning her head to them. She was not amazingly impressed as Xavier attempted to shoot fireballs, boosting him up the wall. She pulled out a piece of gum and gave him a slow clap before turning back to face the ceiling.

Death watched as strange creatures began to throw themselves from some part of the rockface. A few of them charged towards her. Death gave an annoyed "tch," as she fwipped open her scythe and took a combat stance. She began swinging her scythe with ease, grinning. She twirls her scythe, swinging directly at one of the crawling creatures. The creature does not seem to be physically wounded by the blade, yet the scythe passes straight through it. A gaseous smoke-like material seemed to leave the creature's body, pulled out by the scythe and sliced it in half. Instantly, the creature began to decay and fell off the cliff-face.

“Uh oh...So this is...what Thana was talking about?!” Xavior muttered to himself. He began trying to push and to kick them off, shooting fireballs at them with a free hand as well. “Guys, we have to move quickly!” he called below.

"Oh... that black shadow covering the top of the cliff... that is a bunch of them... right..." Death mutters to herself, walking up, "hey, anyone want a ride?"

She then takes her fingers, whistling loudly. A portal opens up on the ground under the cliff. The sounds of fire and chains and... the sound of horses? A heavy and loud one? Charging from the portal. It sounded as if a large and powerful horse as it grew closer to the entrance of the portal.

Kimiko

She watched as her two allies jumped up the wall and were meeted by a swarm of black insects. Kimiko scoffed in disgust as she began to get close to the wall, she placed her hands on the wall and began to channel the spirit energy of the bugs. Teal flames engulfed her hands and quickly spread across the whole wall. The flame didn't burn her companions but began burning the bugs and draining their spirit from them, "Toxic souls, all of them," she held a look of disgust as she burned them. After holding the flame on the wall long enough she jumped up towards Xavier and landed on a small root nearby. At first glance one would think a root that small would break if a bird landed on it, but Kimiko landed on it with no problems whatsoever. Death had offered her two compatriots a ride on some magic horses but kimiko didn't think that that showed off all of their abilities, this was a test of a sort. "No thank you, I'm probably faster than them anyways," she denied the offer and took another few jumps up the wall.

Nyarlathotep

"What is history in my eyes?" History is memory, plain and simple," she pulled a chair from her pocket dimension and sat down on it, "Having lived for so long you'd expect me to have a more in depth definition wouldn't you?" Nyaru leaned back in her chair relaxing, there was a strange glint in her eyes that was similar to curiosity but still very different. She looked Osiris in the eyes and asked him, "What is history to you?"

Thana

Thana calmly watched his students struggling to climb the side of the cavern. He did not seem concerned with the danger of his challenge, and his impassive expression gave away no scrutiny in his eyes. His flowing black hair and trench coat floated around in the soft breeze, unaffected by sunlight or heat. Each student sought to find their own ways up the mountain, but they were not working together. While Xavier was trying to find a way to launch himself forward off the branch, Death walked up the shadow-covered walls. ...You all have your own plans, don't you?...Interesting...In a true battle, you will have no time for plans...only for actions...only for survival... He snapped his fingers, and smiled softly as the cavern wall was covered more and more in serpentine darkness.

Both the Angel and Death managed to singe and burn away some of the serpent-creatures, but more continued toward them indiscriminately. Larger ones began to appear as Death continue to walk up the wall, causing Xavier some alarm. Covering his arm with fire, he punched it into the wall, hooking himself into the rocky wall while shooting fire up toward the incoming monsters. "I don't think this is all he has planned, guys...And driving up the wall isn't going to be easy with all these monsters in the way!" he warned. With each inch he climbed, flames streaked up the cracks in the rock, creating intricate and treacherous designs as they seared through rows of incoming serpents. As larger ones seeped out of the walls, however, one found Kimiko through the rocks. Immediately, it grabbed her leg, pulling her downward and slamming her against the wall.

"Kimiko!" Xavier was nearby, and as he blazed a group of larger serpents, he scaled the wall and moved toward her. He had to be careful to try and save her, however, as one wrong move would send her crashing downward. GIven everyone was already at least twenty feet high, such a drop would hurt her physical body. Taking a risk himself, he grabbed her arm with one hand, and tore her out of the serpent's grasp, throwing her higher up the wall. With his other hand, he blasted the serpent apart, causing himself to let go of the wall and to fall back a few feet. He managed to smash his burning fists into the walls another time, now as he hung about ten feet above the ground.

Ahhhh...that's more like it... Thana thought, with a smile. Seeing the motorcycle, however, he narrowed his eyes. He opened his trench coat ever-so-slightly, and more shadows slipped out, too slight for the students to notice. However, when they flew down toward the students, they took a rather frightening shape: a giant, orb-shaped creature made of multiple huge, staring eyes. Shadowy blackness leaked off the orb like gas, and the eyes petrified everyone who made eye-contact with it. Now with all eyes on you...let's see how you three respond...

Osiris

Osiris liked when questions were sent back his way. He knew then he was teaching an attentive student. Giving her the slightest of smiles, he walked toward her and stood before her. "...Interesting answer...as for what I believe?" He thought for a few silent moments, and then his eyes flickered back to her. "...History is not singular, in a line, focused toward a single point in time. History is now, history is tomorrow, history is yesterday. And all of those moments...are now. All that we know, all that we see and feel and speak, it is the need to reach across boundaries that are beyond human understanding. To understand history is to know the divine. And because I am divine, history is the continual reach across all of time in the now. And in every world, every dimension, every choice even. When you are created for a purpose, you sometimes forget...the world around you also has a purpose. And everything in it has a purpose. A choice. Decisions. They lead to ends, but those ends...they never end."

Luminesa wrote:"He summoned a dragon?!" Hyperion shouted.

Apophis

Bahamut roared as emerald flames tried to scorch its nightmarish visage. Green blazed on its scales, reflecting on abyssal depths to show iridescent green. The dragon seem to be almost rearing away from the attack, seemingly burned from the point blank expulsion of draconic breath, until the flames and smoke died down to show the dragon's maw open. Magic coalescenced into that jaw, murky orange and red, into a mass of power which it exhaled against its opponent. The impacted shattered the Earth, burned the soil into magma and lava, upturned the ground that it spewed magma out.

In the sky, meanwhile, Apophis stayed still as the mage-cum-swordswoman rushed towards him. That kind of speed could surprise any mortal, any expert of martial arts, but not his golden eyes. He could see the fault in her stance, in her positioning, in the way she jumped, in the way she held her blade, in the way she breathed and circulated magical power within her veins. Hamiri would feel impact and the sound of steel. The chains of the scorpion tail blocked her attack and the savage chains' barbs clashed against the edge of her sword. The scorpion tail maneuvered and struck her by the side with a flash of cosmic blue. The strike carried explosive power, shattering her shield of dark power and blasted her with the coldness of the realm beyond Earth's exosphere. The God moved with indescribable speed and was immediately catching right in front of her flung body, his chains whipping around him as he struck with the scorpion tail for the second time.
