Hey, Toaslandia, I don't know if you've read Sylanna's bio, but in it, it's mentioned that she gathered warriors from various factions to defeat a necromancer. Do you think some of the Sword-Singers would have joined in? I thought it would be an interesting tidbit to mention when I get around to replying to Hadrian and Strauch :P

Also, I was going over apps earlier and I noticed yours still had the coding off. You think you'll get to fixing that soon?

On that note, why not have the Witch Hunters also join in to defeat the necromancer? Necromancy is considered a heretical by the Inquisition. Maybe Sylanna would recognize that Strauch is from the same Guild of the Twin Tailed Comet whose members took part in defeating the necromancer. Maybe she sees the Guild's symbol on his weapons or badge on him.

Sounds good. I was addressing Toaslandia specifically because the Sword-Singer Clan is situated in the Northern Reaches, whereas the Inquisition is located in the Urban Centers, but since you bring it up, I'll consider it -nods-

I need feedback on my story. Thanks y'all.
Born in the city of Torbah, a city which lies deep within the Tejis Desert, Ahmed el-Hammad belonged to a family of bakers. Early life for the boy was simple and harsh as it was for a peasant baker. It wasn't until Ahmed el-Hammad got older, around the ages of 16, that life started to really being for him. Ahmed el-Hammad was conscripted into the D’shar Principalities during the holy wars of the D’shar. Ahmed el-Hammad was a devoted follower of Vata, God of Sand and Dust, and although forced into arms - he saw this as his duty to fight against the heretics that roams his homeland. After years of brutal combat, the holy wars end, and Ahmed el-Hammad was noticed and received a invitation by the factional order of the D'Shar Immortals - the honor guard of the D'Shar. Ahmed el-Hammad, now 20, shortly accepted the invitation.

Now in the D’shar Immortal Order, Ahmed el-Hammad was subjected to the harsh realities of being among the ranks of a Immortal. Life was a constant struggle as his job was both political and dangerous in nature. His life could be quickly ended by the various threats presented to him as apart of his job, such as monsters, demons, political rivals, and more. However, he lived and gain much experience provided by the factional Order. He received proper education, lessons on fighting, horse riding, cooking, survival, and more. For now, life seemed stable enough. However, political and religious turmoil was brewing among the D’shar Principalities.

The current Caliph at the time of the D’shar Principalities, Bahman, had no true heir to replace him. A secession crisis has thus begun among the D’shar lords with breakaway factions vying for power. Ahmed el-Hammad also brokeaway to a rebel faction called the Jatu, a religious warband of devout followers of Vata - like Ahmed el-Hammad himself. Now 30, Ahmed el-Hammad anticipated in the bloody wars of the D’shar secession crisis. Stress and the constant intervals of war has taken a toll on the man’s body, even though he was 30. Gray hair, skin wrinkles, chest pain, fatigue, and more inherited Ahmed el-Hammad’s body, but the man would continue on for more years to come.

After 5 eventful years of political crisis, Ahmed el-Hammad found himself traveling the vast plains of Tejis to other parts unknown due to the Jatu defeat at the hands of a rival faction. Fortunately surviving his travels, Ahmed el-Hammad arrived in the southeast bog where he would stay in one of the towns to live out his life, but a messenger gave Ahmed el-Hammad a letter - a invitation to the Paean Legion.

I'm not the OP so they have the last word, but I think your story looks good. You got a good lore and fleshed out backstory going on there...I just think you have to mention why Ahmed was invited and how the Legion heard of him.

Again, that's too sudden for getting pyromancy especially for a flame powerful enough to burn 5 people a crisp as learning magic takes time. And again, he doesn't really fit an elf in the setting plus elf by itself isn't a race and he has no wisp.

Pretty much exactly what Nuridia said. Explain the best you can why he was invited and how the legion heard of him.

Now for some RP announcements! This will basically be background info your characters might or might not know in order to get to their starting destinations.

Goblin Camp Extermination:McDooggle Bluff is around half an hour's worth of walking away from the city westward after going along one of the cobblestone highways and then taking a sharp turn northward into some dirt paths. After this it's another two hours of walking before the tall sight of the bluff and the rocky surrounding outcroppings are seen rising above the lightly forested hills. A roaring river could be heard a few meters from its location and a large wall could be seen just budding out if you're coming from behind. More info will come from an IC post once everyone's started traveling.

Red Hill Company Escort: The Red Hill Company has an office facing the central town plaza and a merchant representing them will be waiting outside. It's a rustic looking wooden building painted a deep red with a crimson and frilly awning. The front display glass will have a ornate red logo of a carriage. The merchant will escort y'all to the caravan awaiting a street away. More info will come from an IC post once everyone's started traveling.

Retrieval Family Heirloom: Everyone on here can just rely on information given in Roxana posts and direct direction from myself so no need to worry.

What sort of undead? Cause I'd imagine a vast majority are not sentient and like Nuridia said we do have vampires.

Uhm yeah those types wouldn't really be allowed in the Paean Legion or any civilized place for that matter except for slums maybe if they're even sapient. On the other hand you can play an independent character if you wish.

Faction Name: The Hands of Steel, Scholars of the Metal Doctrine
Faction Region(s): The Western Heartlands.
Description/Lore: Few places on the continent are touched by the influence of the lands beyond the great sea which surrounds the North, South, East and West. One mountain community of the western Heartlands was visited by strangers one day, and they began to learn the ways of these strangers from a place beyond the sea. The mountain people were eager students, and so the Doctrines (or Way) of the elements were formed. Schools which taught a specific doctrine of martial arts, philosophy, and magic.

The settlement has since become the great Scholar City of Allhamar, where students from all across the world come to learn magic, science, math and the Doctrines. Though those strangers eventually died, their ways and philosophies survived in the four basic Doctrines and their splinters. These Doctrines still use the language of these strangers as a brotherly code.

The Hands of Steel are a splinter doctrine of the Fraternity of Stone. The Way of Steel is emphasized by constant self-improvement, self-reflection, self-criticizing and self-understanding. The Hands of Steel accept the nature of the world and seek to thrive within it.
Races that are part of the faction: Any who are willing to join are welcome.
Additional Info:

Name: The City of Scholars, Allhamar
Dominant Group:

- The Council of Colleges
- The Schools of the manyfold Path

Notable features: Allhamar is built into a snowy mountain,
Age of City: 800 years
Major Industry: Allhamar offers education, but also knowledge. New techniques, spells, inventions and ideas are routinely sold to the highest bidder. The city also mines valuable gems to supplement it's expenses, though debts are common as is the way of most students.

Pretty much. Right now we're just in the gathering phase and heading outside the city should be happening relatively soon for all groups.

Bentus wrote:Hmm, tempted to throw up a Paladin character. Any existing lore on religions/religious institutions?

Not really. i'd assume most countries have their own religions with maybe some parallels between pantheons with the occasional monotheistic religion here and there. I'm working on the High and Dark Elf religion tho
