Treasure Island: Every's Heir
Okay, as the title implies...this is a bit of a cross between Treasure Island, POTC and One Piece thematically, is that we’re searching for a treasure. But of course I’m putting my own spin on it. This is alternate history, a fantasy spin on the Golden Age of Piracy. It’s set in the real world but we got some elements like fictional locations, mermaids, magic and sea monsters. Because who doesn’t love pirates, hello? And about bios. I know that making bios are a son of a bitch and some prefer to keep an air of mystery around their characters so I won't require this long essay of a bio. At least a paragraph will be good enough and you don't have to tell us everything but make sure it's detailed enough so we get a general idea.
Quick rundown of the rules for ye.
Respect the OP and whatever co-ops I may have
No being nasty to each other in the OOC thread
You can't have anything bigger than a galleon and no more than six ships a fleet (and even that's pushing it unless you're some super powerful captain). Men-o'-war are incredibly slow and hard to maneuver, unless you're part of the Navy it wouldn't make any sense.
Real life historical big shots like Calico Jack, Blackbeard, Anne Bonny and all that jazz? Play 'em if you want, but I'm limiting the number of super famous historical pirates people can apply for to six.
I'm also limiting the Navy spots too, we don't want too many of 'em since this isn't really about naval warfare. Four or five max.
I'll be signalling the start of any big battles so they're not all over the place.
I may have a civilian app up later since there will be werewolves and witches and all that, but since they won't get introduced til later there won't be all that many.
Have fun, dammit.
Pirates...some brutal rapists and thieves, some are roguish swashbucklers and adventurers, others who believe themselves freedom fighters-their ship against the world. All bound together by the sea and their wish to live outside the government. Their wish and desire to live free on the high seas proved a problem to the governments of the world and their “proper order” of things.
They come from all corners of the world, every shape, size, color, creed and motivation. However, they all have one thing in common...they’ve captured the imagination of the world still to this day. Of course lawless as they are: pirates had their own code of honor and own way of conducting things...the Nassau Council ruled over by the seven most powerful pirate captains on the island and the Pirate King/Queen at its head. Despite the title, they were elected democratically and every woman and man had equal say in society. Some pirate captains even married each other regardless of gender (in a practice known as matelotage) to increase the size of their fleets and make alliances, although many times there was a romantic element.
Henry Every, perhaps the greatest pirate in history was one of the most powerful pirate kings to ever exist. Pirates all across the world tried to challenge his rule, but none ever could. He soon increased his fleet size to over sixty ships, and ran Nassau with an iron fist. But even more impressive than Every’s legend was his treasure. The Conde gold is a famous cursed treasure that Every risked his life to attempt to capture...legend has it than an angry witch who wished to avenge the death of many of her coven-sisters at Every’s hand put a curse on a massive treasure, binding him to it. If he did manage to take it or even touch it, he would immediately meet his end and his soul would be bound to it forever...whoever controls the treasure controls Every and his (alleged) ghostly fleet.
The Conde gold gets its name from the fact that it had belonged to Conde Alessandro Vitalli, a disgraced Italian noble and the first Pirate King. He had captured this massive amount of treasure and hidden it in a location that he refused to give up until the day he died. Knowing what a feat it would be if he managed to capture this treasure, Every set out to seize it for himself ten years ago...but he never came back. Of course, his disappearance only made the legend grow in size and had many more pirates hoping to set out and take the treasure for their own...whether to have a ghost pirate army at their disposal, free Every’s soul, or perhaps even just because it’s treasure. It’s become a well-known symbol of the pirate king, and it’s said that whoever takes it and comes back alive is Every’s true heir, and thus worthy of the kingship.
Thus the upcoming elections for the next Pirate King are fast approaching; which means there’s a massive influx of pirates setting sail after this treasure, hoping to prove themselves the greatest Pirate King of all time.
You play as one of these pirates: whether you’re a powerful captain, a hopeful upstart or even a crew-member on somebody else’s ships. The search for the Conde Gold has begun, as rumors have swirled about it being on Isla Loba, the mysterious Island of the Wolves...said to be home to dark magic, and to feral men and women with the power to shift into wolf-creatures. This journey can bring you unimaginable wealth, power and a place in pirate history. Or it can lead to your demise, but you have to decide if the risk is worth the possible reward.
