So of course the two nations looked to each other since they were neighbors and had really good relations. The two nations decided that an alliance was not enough and decided to merge the two nations. Since relations were already good there was not much resistance from either nations citizens. So the two nations merged and the two governments worked together to keep everything stable as the first elections happened. The Republic of Iberia is currently a mostly stable representative democracy as of now.

History: In 2020 Japan began a massive program to make childcare easier in order to keep the population from declining. They began by offering a subsidy of 150 USD per child, as well as tax cuts on sales and income. They opened up free government childcare centers that helped care for children for free. They also created an app that aided parents by connecting them to childcare services like babysitters and daycare, the made it mandatory to offer free lunches at schools, and they created a program that would help parents plan out savings and funding so they could afford to have children. This all was paid for by slight increases in tariffs and sales taxes that helped also give small boosts to local economics. The population is expected to stop its decline around 2035 at around 119 million people.

Meanwhile the government also stopped the rapid decrease in value of the Japanese Yen which helped bring stability to the economy. They also solved the Japanese Debt crisis by decreasing expenditures and interest rates, this allowed them to begin paying back debts. However a big boost to this was the collapse of China. Since the PRC Collapsed, Shanghai and Hong Kong were both given a proposal, become Japanese Prefectures and we'll protect you and give you a stable democracy, but in turn they would, on behalf of China, forgive all debt Japan owed. This meant Japanese debt that needed to be payed back decreased a lot. In 2027 Taiwan fell into a debt and civil crisis, that threatened to divide the country between two warring political factions (The Kuomintang and the Opposition Front). Japan landed troops on the country under the guise of stabilizing it, when in reality they began enforcing Japanese laws and giving Japanese citizenship, in 2028 they annexed the island nation and removed another debt owner.

By 2029 Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Shanghai had been politically integrated and reach a point of partial economic integration. Japanese has begun to be taught in schools, though it is not illegal to learn Chinese. Japan has become a society at the forefront of technology, with Banking, Shipping, Retail, Entertainment, and Information Technology as the largest Industries.

Following this show of strength Japan decided to further its power by taking the islands of Micronesia, not for the islands themselves but their rich economic areas. Japan remains a strong and stable republic and has begun to integrate these territories entirely.
