What incentive does the US have to get involved, provided we don't provoke them?

Simple why publicly the US is trying to stay neutral they need allies so they support democracies like Scotland against Fascists and Communist. The US also wants to keep Fascism and Communism from spreading.

Speaking of which - hey Brazil, wanna join the anti-Scot side of the war?
While it would be split with several good reasons to support either side, as of yet, it would seem that I would side with the Brits. However, it would be an extremely loose alliance due to Britain's political uncertainty and rise of fascism, which Brazil is inherently against. I'd still want to keep relations relatively high with Scotland though, since if the LLU goes ahead with fascism and fascists gain control of Britain, the communist Brazil would immediately switch to the opposing side. There is always the possibility of a major administrative shift due to rising fascist support in the regions bordering Patagonia and Venezuela and growing democratic (pro-USA more than anything) influence in the major cities, though.

History - The history is the same until the end of the Great War. Malay nationalism was becoming extremely more popular in both British Malaysia and Dutch Indonesia. In 1920, political parties adhering to this ideology were soon united under a philosopher named Ibrahim Jaafar, who helped forming a bloc for these parties known as the "Perikatan Nasional". Thought politically compatible, the left and the right get soon split up within certain policies, mainly the ones that are social and economic. The social policies were still right-wing while the economic policies became left-wing. The bloc fought politically for Malay independence from both the UK and the Netherlands. The goal was achieved in 1928, when the bloc easily gained power after intimidating Britishmen and Dutchmen with acts of separatist violence. The Malay Nation was born. Ibrahim Jaafar remained as the bloc's chairman while Abdul Razak Hamidi, the head of the bloc's largest party, the "Parti Muslimik Nasional" (National Muslim Party), became the country's "Supreme Representative" (Wakil Agung). The bloc was the only political bloc allowed in the country and it's components (member-parties) became the country's official parties. The Chairman (Pengerusi) is responsible for heading the ruling PN bloc and making national policies while the Supreme Representative is responsible for representing the Malay Nation and being the PN bloc's spokesperson.
In the years following independence, the Malay Nation integrated both the Andaman Islands and the Nicobar Islands in 1929. 1930 saw the Malay Nation purchase East Timor from the Portuguese. The royal family of Brunei opposed integration into the Malay Nation, resulting in the country being besieged by APN forces and eventually being absorbed into the Malay Nation around 1931. From 1932 to 1935, the Malay Nation waged war on neighbouring Thailand regarding Malay territory. The APN, having military equipment from both Britain and the Netherlands, were able to beat up the Thai military, forcing Thailand to cede it's southern part to the Malay Nation. The Kra Isthmus also gets annexed by the Malay Nation. Since these recent territorial grabs, the Malay Nation chooses both the US-controlled Philippines and the British-controlled Singapore as the next targets for it's territorial expansion.
Given the new political situation as shown in Europe, the Malay Nation is affiliationally standing between fascism and neutrality, having no tendencies of either becoming Allied or pledge allegiance to communism. Meanwhile, ethnic tensions and political opposition are emerging within the Malay Nation, especially violent clashes between the Chinese community and the Malay authorities due to the country's recent racist laws that affects both the Chinese and other ethnic minorities. Dissent among ethnic minorities is growing slowly and tensions between ideologies are occuring within the PN. Even so, genocide is on the brink of actually occuring within the Malay Nation as the dominant Malay community demands the country to be purged of all non-Malays, as well as disability, homosexuality, communism and other anti-government ideologies. Dissidents are suppressed by the notorious "Biro Keselamatan Nasional" (National Security Bureau) while various paramilitary party wings are merged into the PN-controlled "Angkatan Bersekutu Bangsa Melayu" (Allied Forces of the Malay Nation). Which path shall this Southeast Asian country choose?
