Or Weapon Mimicry like the T-X/T-1000?)

We can use some villains, sure.

I already have a few in mind including a "season 1" big bad...

Character Description
    Name: Corrina Speer
    Aliases: Duchess
    Gender: Female
    Age: 33
    Appearance
    Image

Motivations
Goals: Saving and improving the lives of meta-humans, stopping meta-persecution by humans and breaking them free from the chains put upon them by society.
Fears: Failing in her mission, meta-humans being hunted and killed for what they are.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Powers: Energy Manipulation Corrina can create, shape and manipulate energy. Some of the more common forms (but not an exhaustive list) are:
Energy Bolts - a small blast of energy to stun, burn, or injure a target
Energy Bombs - a large orb of energy that's released towards a target area before detonating, causing an explosion of energy and a shockwave.
Energy Blades - pure energy concentrated to a solid form either around or in her hands as a melee attack.
Energy Spikes - similar to energy blades, but narrower and either launched directly or upward to arc down onto a target.
Energy Shield - a protective layer of energy around Corrina's body that can protect from basic attacks.
Levitation - Corrina also uses energy to levitate herself and other objects under 750lbs.

Abilities: Fencing - Corrina is an expert with the various forms of blades she can create.
Classical Education - Corrina was born into a wealthy family and attended an illustrious private school.
Equestrian - Corrina learned to ride horses from a very young age, and can ride them with proficiency.

Equipment: She carries several emergency energy bars in case she starts to tire while using her power. She also has a locket with a picture of her parents.

Weaknesses: Energy Manipulation is a very intensive power, and requires a lot of energy to use. This causes Corrina to need to eat a very high caloric diet to keep using it consistently. After prolonged use, she'll start to tire out, causing her power to become weaker until she either stops to rest or she passes out.

Background:
    Student or Teacher?: Neither
Legal Status: Classified as a terrorist, on the most wanted list of multiple agencies worldwide.
General: Corrina was the only daughter of two meta-humans from a wealthy family. As such, her powers developed and showed themselves early, though her parents chose to hide it until she learned to control them effectively. Unfortunately prejudice against metas knows no social class, and her parents became two high profile victims of targeted attacks. This left a teenage Corrina with a deep dislike of humanity, and pushed her towards her path of saving metas from the hatred of the common man.

She funneled her substantial inheritance into various shell companies and offshore bank accounts to keep it from being frozen as she embarked upon her crusade to liberate the meta population. At first she only defended other metas from attack, but as she grew older she became more daring and would preemptively strike at known anti-meta groups or individuals. As word of her attacks and motives spread, she sought to recruit more metas to her cause, viewing them as a resistance force against the oppression of their kind. As the years went on, the body count grew as she waged her own war against humanity.

Governments around the world all sought to bring Corrina to justice, but they found it difficult since other metas would hide her, or assist her to freedom if she was captured. Even metas that didn't join her violent rebellion could view her sympathetically, because she also provided for metas even if they didn't fight with her. She would help them financially, find them a way out of poverty, learn to control their powers, get them a place to live away from potentially dangerous areas or break free from a gang.

I've taken it off of WIP, though I might still tweak/add some backstory. Everything else I won't mess with until it's been reviewed. Let me know if it needs adjusted/overhauled.

She shares the same ultimate end goals of the Academy, though her means to that mutual end is very different. I didn't make her 100% violent like Magneto either, she's not just a rebellion leader she's also a benefactor and spends a great deal of money helping at risk metas like Charles.

Here's the chemistry teacher, as promised.

Character Description
    Name
Dr Shlomo Reshef (Hebrew: שלמה רשף)

    Aliases
    Rasalas

    Gender
    Male

    Age
    58

    Appearance
    Image
    Height: 183cm (6ft) | Weight: 84kg (185 lbs)

Motivations
    Goals
    • As a science teacher, Dr Reshef’s main concern is to impart in his students an interest in science and an appreciation of the natural world. He believes that science should be accessible to all, not just the learned, and makes it a point to teach primarily for the sake of knowledge than for the sake of grades.
    • Where personal goals are concerned, Dr Reshef wishes to lay low and stay out of the spotlight, being wanted by the US government for sharing state secrets with hostile powers. He wishes to leave his past as a double agent behind, and refuses to talk about it to anyone.

    Fears
Above all, Dr Reshef fears that the world may one day descend into violence and abandon reason for madness. He has seen trends of that sort more than enough to be justified in his fears for the future of humanity.

Strengths and Weaknesses
    Powers
    • Reshef has the ability to turn into an adult grizzly bear. In this form, he possesses the strength and abilities of a bear, but retains his human faculties. He can remain in this form for up to 5 hours, after which he has a cool-down period of another 5 hours; This cool-down period applies when he remains in bear form for more than one hour.

    Abilities
    • Dr Reshef has an extensive knowledge of organic, applied, and atomic chemistry, though he no longer has any opportunity or need to put this knowledge into practice outside of the classroom.
    • Reshef is also an accomplished pianist, and holds an LTCL.

    Equipment
    None

    Weaknesses
Reshef suffers from gout, and as such, is limited in his diet and movements; this extends to his bear form.

Background
    Student or Teacher?
    Teacher

    If Teacher, which subject?
    Chemistry

    Legal Status
Shlomo Reshef is wanted by the US government, ostensibly for leaking information to hostile powers, although attempts to find him have largely been abandoned since the end of the Cold War.

    General
Shlomo Reshef was born on 4 January 1960 in New York, NY, to Jewish parents who had escaped from Europe to the US following the rise of the Nazis. He grew up relatively quietly, being known throughout his school life only as a very skilled pianist with decent grades. Upon graduating from the University of Columbia with a degree in chemistry, Reshef worked first as a research assistant at his alma mater, where he obtained a PhD in organic chemistry, and then as a forensic toxicologist under the CIA, having received an invitation from the government to do so.

Between 1989 and 1991, the details of Shlomo Reshef's résumé were highly obfuscated, but what is known is that on Christmas Day of 1992, Reshef left the CIA, undergoing treatment for severe bouts of depression, paranoia, and mood swings. He revealed to a close friend that he had leaked at least 500 documents to the Soviet Union under the code name "Rasalas" (i.e. after the star Mu Leonis), but refused to say anything else. Reports emerged of a massive grizzly bear prowling the former site of a secret government research programme, but little else came of attempts to investigate the occurrence.

After a decade of obscurity, Reshef appeared once again, having attempted to write a novel; it was a flop, with less than half of the initial print being sold. He had, nevertheless, seemed to return to his old self, as his few friends noted, his depression well under control.

In 2018, Reshef was invited to teach at a newly-founded school, the Lefevre Manor; he accepted the invitation all too readily, for one reason or another.

Character Description
    Name: Zara Delic
Aliases: Nightjar (not so much as superhero name as a field code name)
    Gender: Female
    Age (Students are 13 to 21): 34
Apperance Tall, 5'9'' to be precise (though she often adds 3 inch heels to boost herself to 6 foot), and weighs in at 130lb. Delic has auburn hair and green eyes. A bit like this:

    Image

While her English is technically extremely good, having both studied the language and lived in English speaking on-and-off, she still has quite a noticeable Eastern European accent when she talks.

Motivations
Goals: Prevent the young people in her care from either getting killed or killing anyone else.
    Fears: Witnessing another genocide.

Strengths and Weaknesses
    Powers : None
Abilities: Delic is extremely fit, agile. She is a masterful unarmed fighter and highly skilled in the use of most weapons she might find lying about. She has good tactical awareness in hyper-alert and is almost impossible to sneak up on. On top of that, Delic is highly analytical and logically minded. She is very good at considering a situation, all the probable ways it might turn out and planning for each accordingly (it is the only reason she is still alive). This last ability is
Equipment: Delic has a Skorpion Machine Pistol and an SVD Dragunov hidden in her room. She also has an MP-443 Grach pistol which is usually found within easy grabbing distance when she is sleeping and carries a startling array of knives which are often hidden about her person.
Weaknesses: At the end of the day, Delic is just a normal human.

Background:
    Student or Teacher?: Teacher
If Teacher, which subject?: Philosophy and Ethics
Legal Status: Former CIA agent. Also seems to know an awful lot of violent Eastern European criminals on a first-name basis.
General: Not too much is known about Delic's early life; she doesn't talk too much about it. What is known is that she is a Bosniak and the rest of her family were killed during the wars that ravaged Yugoslavia when it collapsed. What is known is that Delic ended up turning to crime. Violent crime. However, in her early 20s she was recruited by the CIA who initially saw her as a disposable asset before coming to realise that Delic's analytical approach to problem solving (i.e. killing people) made her quite useful for hunting meta-humans.

The name 'Nightjar' began to be mentioned in metahuman circles, mostly connected with the killing of a powerful, criminal meta. Delic, for her own part, was given purpose by the new focus in her work. Now she was actually protecting people. Delic began to see herself as more than just a killer. She studied part-time, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Ljubljana (it was free). Now, in her mid-thirties, Delic made the decision to try to put the violence behind her entirely and applied for a teaching post at Mr. Lefevre's Academy.... though she has still held onto quite an arsenal, just in case.

Delic hopes that her course will help the students in their care to think critically and make good decisions in life, and if they do happen to ever be in a life-or-death situation, a little bit of the cool-headed rationality that has kept her alive, even when the odds were not in her favour.

Posting Commitments (How many times can we expect a post from you?): As per first app.

If you do the Philosophy/Ethics/Logic Teacher thing, I wonder if they get along with Mr. Augustine or not. Like, he's probably seen and heard lots of philosophies and probably has an interesting philosophy of his own.

I'm imagining they'll get on quite well... I kind of imagine them playing chess :P

If you mean Corrina, she's not Magneto like power-wise, just character-wise since he shares the same "humanity is a blight" outlook he does, though she's also a lot kinder to metas than he is to mutants.

Yes, I mean character-wise. That kind of mutant “superiority”.

Character Description
    Name: Rowan Ophelius
    Aliases: The Imitator
    Gender: Male
    Age (Students are 13 to 21): 16
Appearance: Varies. He changes it from time to time. Without shifting, he has short, spiky brown hair and hazel eyes.

Motivations
Goals: To find out who he is
    Fears: Failure and the unknown

Strengths and Weaknesses
Powers : The ability to shape-shift into anyone and gain their skills, powers and knowledge. He has no other powers. He can also change basic physical aspects about himself via shifting, such as hair and eye color.
Abilities: His real use to any team he's on is his intelligence, incredible memory, gift for strategy, and critical thinking - at least, when he's just himself.
Equipment: Nothing special. He relies on the powers he's given when he shape-shifts.
Weaknesses: He will never be as powerful, skilled or knowledgeable as whoever he shifts into, making him sort of just a weaker impostor. This means that maybe he lacks a power altogether, or maybe his power isn't as strong. It varies depending on who he imitates. He's also anti-social and generally a loner.

Background:
    Student or Teacher?: Student
Legal Status: Presumed dead, but Rowan isn't sure why
    General:
Rowan's earliest memory is his third birthday party. He remembers the warmth of the candles, the sweet taste of his Sesame Street cake, the joy when he got a new teddy bear to replace the old ratty one he'd had since his birth, the love he felt as his relatives joined together to sing "Happy Birthday." He remembers it all so vividly, as if he was there. Every memory he has is like that.

He remembers the rest of his third year of life. The day his mom took him to Six Flags and he won a stuffed elephant to be friends with his bear. The horrible day he had to get a flu shot, and the fear and the unwillingness cured only by the soothing compassion of his mom, and the firm support of his dad. His first day of preschool, the day he met his best friend Allison. Most of his favorite memories come from playing games with Allison. He wonders often what happened to her.

He remembers his fourth year of life. Things weren't as nice. Mom was a little less warm and Dad was a little less firm. Every so often, from his room, he would hear them saying things loudly, maybe at each other. Preschool was shifting focus away from fun and games and onto boring stuff like letters and numbers. It all came so easy to Rowan that sometimes, he messed up on purpose, just because he didn't want to always be right. Mom didn't like that very much, but Rowan didn't care.

He remembers the fifth year of his life. These memories are the realest. These are the ones that haunt him when he sleeps. The insomnia, triggered by never-ending screaming by his parents from other parts of the house, occasionally accompanied by loud noises - crashes, bangs and bumps. The constant temper tantrums he threw, the only way he knew how to get his parents' attention. It never worked. His inherent need for love was neglected. He couldn't tell why. Kindergarten was a drag. He was always scared and lonely. It felt like his only friend in the world was Allison. One day, two weeks before his sixth birthday, he didn't have to go to school. He didn't know why. The next day, when he went back, Allison wasn't there. She wasn't there the day after that, either. Or ever again.

The last memory he has of his fifth year was the night before his sixth birthday. His parents were screaming up a storm, but it was much louder than usual, to the point where Rowan started to cry. An hour or so of yelling later, he heard the door slam, and then complete silence. He stopped crying and finally got to sleep. That was the last thing he remembers for a long time.

The only thing he remembers from his sixth year of life is the pain. The endless, unwavering, merciless pain. He doesn't remember where he was, what was happening or who was doing this to him. He only remembers the pain. A year's worth of it.

From ages 7-15, he has no memory.

His next memory is waking up on the doorstep of Lefevre Manor. A woman stood at the opened door. She asked who he was. He said his name was Rowan. She asked where he came from. He didn't know. She asked how old he was. He said he was born in 2002. He found out that he had woken up on his sixteenth birthday.

She invited him in and introduced him to Arnold Lefevre. Lefevre asked him if he could do anything special. He said no, but then the woman screamed and Lefevre's expression became one of shock. He looked into a nearby mirror and saw that he had somehow shape-shifted into Lefevre. Surprised, he tried to will himself to shape-shift into the woman. It worked. Apparently, he could do something special.

They tried looking up government records of him. They found his records in America, where he had grown up. Apparently, he was missing, presumed dead, which came as a surprise to him. In the next week, the Manor tried to get his status changed, to report that he was still alive. For reasons unknown, they were unsuccessful.

They tried and failed to locate his parents.

He honed his skill over his first few weeks at Lefevre Manor. His peers nicknamed him "the Imitator." He also discovered that he knew a lot more than he remembered. Some students and professors tried to befriend him, but he instinctively stayed in his shell. He garnered a reputation as a lone wolf. He wondered why he was here, what he was doing, where he had come from. He couldn't remember. He struggled to find a purpose for his life.

His dreams nowadays consist mostly of the memories from ages 3-5, usually the bad ones. But one night a month into his stay at Lefevre Manor, his dream was different. It was just a voice, one that he did not recognize. A voice that said, "Rowan... save your past."

That, he now believes, is his purpose.

Posting Commitments: I check the boards at least once a day, but my posting will depend on where and when Rowan is needed in the narrative. Probably at least three or four times a week
    TIGER

In the interest of full transparency: I do not have a specific background planned out for Rowan, intentionally. I want to see what our narrative will lead him to discover about himself.

Character Description
    Name: Jason Tithonus
    Aliases:
    Gender: Male
    Age (Students are 13 to 21): 17
Appearance: While Jason is genetically human, physically he is quite unusual. His entire body is covered in a metallic black exoskeleton made of a chitin-like material, and he has no internal skeleton. He has four arms, two human-sized, and two smaller and shorter arms located directly beneath them. He has three sharp and thin fingers on each hand (Two fingers and a thumb) except for his upper left hand, which has four. He has two curved claws on each foot, replacing his toes. Jason stands a little under 5'6, though he is usually somewhat hunched over.

Jason has two membranous insect-like wings each about 1.3 metres in length emerging from his back. These wings have a slight red tinge due to the blood vessels within them. His mouth resembles that of a normal human except instead of teeth he has two fused chitin structures, and his pharynx doesn't directly connect to his esophagus - instead, to eat, he must extend a straw-like "rostrum" (replacing his tongue) from his mouth, to drink liquid food. Jason has two large compound eyes, and eleven smaller simple eyes between them, which glow a soft red. Jason has two large pale blue tymbals located on the sides of his abdomen, which he vibrates to "sing" the "songs" that activate his powers.

Motivations
Goals: Figure out what he is and how he got his powers, find his family, try to make up for the two years of education he missed out on.
Fears: That he was never a person, and he was always an insect, and that people secretly don't like him.

Strengths and Weaknesses
    Powers :
    • Insect Physiology: Jason can fly, can climb on walls and ceilings, and is slightly stronger and more resilient than the average human.
    • Songs: Jason can vibrate his tymbals to produce a variety of unpleasant buzzing "songs" that have different effects on reality. The ones listed below are those which he has discovered himself - it is possible there are other songs that he is not aware of.
      • Song 1: Causes Jason to emit enormous amounts of sunlight and heat, up to 1300 degrees Celsius. These effects occur immediately after Jason begins the song. Jason is immune to the heat and light generated by the song for seventeen seconds - after that time is up, he has to stop the song, or risk being burned alive.
      • Song 2: A slower version of Song 1. In a 13-meter radius around Jason, the ambient temperature will become similar to the area's ambient temperature during July or August.
      • Song 3: As Jason is singing this song, it will increase in volume exponentially over a period of thirteen seconds, up to 170 decibels. The song will then stay at 170 decibels until Jason stops singing it. Jason is immune to the detrimental effects of loud noises as long as he is singing Song 3.
      • Song 4: A faster version of Song 3. Anyone who hears Jason sing Song 4 will be compelled to try and replicate it by clicking their teeth.
      • Song 5: After thirteen seconds of singing Song 5, Jason will be compelled to moult like an insect. After moulting, any wounds he had will be gone. For seventeen seconds after moulting, Jason will feel a powerful compulsion not to use Song 5 again.
      • Song 6: A slower version of Song 5. After thirteen seconds of singing Song 6, Jason will vomit up between one and seventeen insects resembling cicadas. Anyone who kills and eats one of these "cicadas" will rapidly heal any wounds they have over the course of seventeen seconds. Jason will feel a powerful compulsion not to use Song 6 until all of his "cicadas" are dead.
Abilities: Scrounging for food and shelter, hiding.
Equipment: Supplies for eating a liquid diet.
Weaknesses: Jason cannot eat solid food, isn't especially good at blending in, and his "songs" will not work if he is distracted and messes them up.

Background:
    Student or Teacher?: Student
    If Teacher, which subject?: N/A
Legal Status: Guilty of a variety of petty thefts while he was homeless.
General: Jason was once an ordinary person, and grew up in a reasonable-sized town in northeastern Ohio. He never made any friends, but otherwise he had an ordinary, somewhat forgettable childhood. This changed when Jason was 13, when he shared a class with another child that had severe anger issues. One day, Jason made a comment about his classmate that was overheard. The next day, the other child attacked Jason outside the school, stabbing him several times with a shard of glass before teachers found out what had happened and intervened.

The other child was obviously expelled, and Jason eventually recovered from his injuries, but he developed a severe anxiety about returning to school. At the start of the next school year, Jason started skipping class. Jason soon stopped going to school entirely. He was able to keep up this charade to his parents for about a month, until one day he realized that his parents would soon find out. So, instead of going home that day, he wandered into the farmland at the edge of town.

The next morning, Jason woke up in his current form, with no memory of the last seventeen hours. He discovered his new appearance when he saw himself in a creek. He spent an hour trying to cry, but he was no longer able. He hurried home, his school issues forgotten, to try and get his parents' help in fixing this problem. When he found his house, however, a completely different family was living in it. They screamed at his appearance and drove him out.

Over the next few days, Jason slowly began to discover evidence that his family did not exist. After some introspection, he realized he could not remember the names of his parents, or the name of the boy who had attacked him. In addition, after sneaking into a public library to research his condition, Jason discovered that "Tithonus" was the name of a mythological figure transformed into an insect, and thus his name was likely not real.

Jason lived on the street for the next two years, drinking whatever discarded soft foods he could find, in order to stay alive. He discovered most of his "songs" during this time as well, mostly by accident. He became an urban legend in his hometown, one which became well-known enough to draw the attention of Lefavre Manor, which was on the hunt for new metahumans to recruit.

About a year ago, representatives of Lefavre Manor, cooperating with local police, were able to find Jason and persuade him to join the academy. He has lived there ever since, where he keeps to himself and doesn't talk to anyone.

In the interest of full transparency: I do not have a specific background planned out for Rowan, intentionally. I want to see what our narrative will lead him to discover about himself.

Should my character's powers have combat capabilities as well? Is this something that would be good to have further on in the RP?
