I'd like to apologize, but my application will have to be postponed for one day. Specifically today at work is planned to be particularly hellish, and I'll need all my concentration on getting deadlines finished. The same cannot be said about tomorrow.

Please don't close it, but do not wait for me to start if you guys are waiting for me. I don't want to be the critical path error.

I use my NationStates stats, because a population of billions/trillions and an economy of hundreds of trillions is totally viable, trust me.
But seriously, aside from the population and GDP, just assume that my NS stats are roughly accurate.

Support: Paleo-imperialism, conservatism, libertarianism, Christianity.
Against: Stupid people, resistance to industrial progress, alt-right, any form of government at or beyond socialism.

I hail from The League of Conservative Nations. Hearts unthawed, hearts unshaken!

Takaka Tar' Turayi,

In the Senate, the Democrats have just taken power after 6 years in the minority.

In the House, the Republicans have been in charge for at least the last 8 years. The Incoming Congress had 218 Democrats and 217 Republicans, however one Representative has been found dead in the bathroom so now its a 217-217 spilt in the House and no one knows who's gonna end up being Speaker.

In the White House, we have the Republican Ticket first elected in 2052 with a majority in the Electoral College and a minority in the Popular Vote. However, the President switched from the Libertarian Party to the Republicans to run in 2052. The VP is a regular plain one Moderate GOP.

As far as I know, the status of all the territories are still the same as they where in 2018. So DC, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and Palmyra Atoll are all still in their strange situations. The current President has been know to have argued for a State of Jefferson. The last two Democratic Nominees Guess 2052 (I know this because he's my character) and Rice 2056 (And she was the Mayor of DC so this is a logical jump) were for Statehood for DC and Puerto Rico.

Marley H. Webster - Socialist Alternative
    Image

    Account Name: Archism
Occupation: Mayor of the District of Columbia
Political Ideology: Progressivism, humanism, environmentalism, socialism

    Family: No partner, no children
Background: Born April 8th, 2034, to middle class parents in northern Virginia, Marley had a more or less middling academic performance, though she proved adept at several musical instruments and became much more academically successful during High School. Her early political views began forming during the O'Connor administration where she opposed the privatization of social security and protectionist policies. She became a member of several counter-cultural groups, and started taking part in activism on personal causes after several instances of biphobia occurred to her in late high school, following her coming out as Bisexual.

Through a very fortunate scholarship, Marley was able to study at Georgetown University in nearby Washington DC. She earned a Bachelors in Political Economy, and went on to earn a masters in Public Policy. During this period is when she first started getting noticed as a public speaker at many protests and rallies in Washington. Before the 2054 elections, a Democrat organizer asked Marley to run for the Democrats in a local council, but she declined, unwilling to register for the party. She initially supported Elizabeth Rice in the 2056 presidential elections, but ended up working for Hastings's independent campaign as an intern.

After Mayor Rice's fall from grace during the presidential election, DC was left with an unpopular mayor even in some liberal circles. When the 2058 Mayoral Election came around, Rice stepped up for re-election, but faced opposition in the primaries from several other more moderate democrats. Marley was extremely disappointed in the line up, and obviously had no intention of voting Republican. Refusing to be resigned to picking her poison, Marley ended up running the ticket for the third party Socialist Alternative. She ran an extremely low budget, grassroots campaign, but performed well in debates and attended a number of public events personally.

Initially seen as a far third even behind the Republican candidate, a minor political blip, support for the Webster campaign significantly improved while the Democrats infought during the primary and ran negative ads against each other. After a speech she made on the subject of equality went viral on social media, small donations to her campaign were made from around the USA, allowing the campaign to start running some of their own TV ads, focusing on positive messages centered around the slogan "Forward!". Webster earned some national media attention as an interesting story of a third party candidate rising in the polls. After Webster was photographed at a march for Washington statehood with a banner reading "Taxation without Representation", her polling numbers jumped up ahead of the Republican candidate, into the mid 20s.

After the conclusion of the Democratic primary, the center-left Gabriel Pollard defeated Rice and became the Democratic nominee. Only a few nights later, during a debate, Webster blasted Pollard calling him "Republican-lite" during a heated exchange, and later on reiterated her statement, pointing to the Democratic and Republican candidates and saying "This is a choice between being tazed and being shot in the head. One is obviously better, but neither are good." Pollsters predicted a close victory for Pollard, but when the votes were counted, Webster had 41% of the vote to Pollard's 38%. Immediately she became a national figure, and a very controversial one at that.

Marley made a tearful speech thanking everyone who supported her campaign, and as of January 2059 is just about to assume the office of Mayor of the District of Columbia.
    Faith: Secular Agnosticism

Strengths: Very popular on the far left, significant national support from youth and socialist idealists, passionate speaker
Weaknesses: Lack of political experience, alienates centrists with extreme views, accusations of champagne socialism

I tried to envision what a 2050s version of a Dixiecrat would be. This is the result.

Huck Edwards Hinshaw - DEMOCRAT PARTY
      Image

      Account Name: Zjaum
Occupation: Career Politician; prior, a state worker
Political Ideology: Pro-agriculture, pro-green energy, pro-immigration, pro- well, "the simple way of life."

Family: Isabela (spouse), Herman (son), Fernando (son)
Background: So Egilson was a political minority, an outsider. Big whoop. Tell that to the Democrats in Austin, in all of Texas for that matter. Tending to their small businesses for a hundred years as the big oil companies come stomping through. Huck had been a staunch Democrat for a while now, and had done his part as a representative for a term when Egilson tried to run. Arrogant California city slicker (or so he thought), caring nothing for the little man and only for his own ego. Hinshaw got fired up and began his crusade against the president. Even though he himself doesn't wholly believe it to be true, he claimed personal ownership for keeping Texas out of the hands of the libertarian. The president was a dangerous man, and the Dixiecrat made it his personal goal to make sure he didn't get another term. While that tactic clearly didn't work for the rest of the country, it at least did well for his career, his "bulldog speeches" giving him a personality and a character above any other possible competition. In the House, he made sure to rouse everyone up in moving filibuster speeches- twice. He's proud to be called a thorn in Egilson's side, and he will continue to be one.
      Faith: Southern Baptist

Strengths: He doesn't give up on anyone, friend or foe.
Weaknesses: He won't give up on anyone, friend or foe.

Miscellaneous: He enjoys wearing a gallon hat, even under improper circumstances.
I use my NationStates stats, because a population of billions/trillions and an economy of hundreds of trillions is totally viable, trust me.

Background: Theodore was born on December 12th, 1996. He grew up on a tree farm in Richwood, Nicholas County, West Virginia. When he was 6 years old he joined scouts. When he was 10 he started delivering a paper route. When he was 12 he joined cadets. When he was 16 he started working at chapters. When he was 15 he would go to high high school. He would get involved in clubs like the student council and chess club. When he was 17 he graduated from Richmond High School.

He would go to the University of Virginia and get a dual degree history and education. This would take a year longer than normal to complete. During this time he would get involved with the student council. He would graduate at the age of 21.

When he was 18 he would join the navy reserves. He would become a Navy Intelligence officer in the reserves.

When he was 21 he would go to Harvard and get his masters degree in History, minoring in finance. While their he would get involved as a teaching assistant, and work in a politicians office. While going to Harvard, he would meet his future wife.

He would gain a part time contract job teaching at the University of Virginia shortly after and also work in a politicians office.

When he was 27 he would start up a YouTube channel where he would put up short lectures on topics from Ancient Rome to Colonial England. It would gain a few viewers and catch the attention of some university staff. He would be offered a full time non-tenure track position in the University of New Hampshire.

When he was 29 he would be offered a Tenure track position.

When he was 28 he would have his first child. He would have twins when he was 29, and 1 more when he was 30.

When he was 30 he would get elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives. Because the salary is $200 he kept his teaching position at the same time. When he was 32 he would get elected to second term, this time becoming the speaker of the house. When he was 34 he ran for the Senate. A few of his colleagues would join him in the senate and he would be elected President if the Senate.

When he was 40 he would run for Governor of New Hampshire. Backed by the farmers and supported by a few of his colleagues he would be successful. In this capacity he would usually side with the Republicans. However, he would also be in favour of penal reforms, helping the disabled, and healthcare updates which would have him side with the Democrats. He became known for his understanding nature however, usually listening to all sides and the facts before making up hid mind. The welfare of the people and his constituents came first, so if a case could be made that a penal reform wouldn’t be helpful or something else could be harmful he would be less likely to support it. If something seemed to be benificual he would try and reach across the isle to attempt to garner support for it.

When he was 48 he was elected to the US Senate. He would become known for his positive and patient demeanour. Once again he would support efforts to reduce the deficit, and support social efforts such as preserving or expanding the national parks.

When he was 54 he would be elected again. He would be elected into the position of Senate Majority leader by his peers.

When he was 56, he ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination in the 2052 presidential election. He was also a member of the budget and finance committees. While the Republicans were in the majority, he would get passed new healthcare legislation to help the people.

While on the Budget committee he would help with limiting budget deficits, and get a budget surplus in 2055.

He would be elected to the senate again at the age of 60 in 2056.

He currently sits on the Foreign Affairs Committee, Budget, and Energy and natural resources.

To be stringent about the history, Republicans gained the Senate majority in 2052 (so beginning in 2053). But other than that caveat, accepted — welcome back!

I use my NationStates stats, because a population of billions/trillions and an economy of hundreds of trillions is totally viable, trust me.
But seriously, aside from the population and GDP, just assume that my NS stats are roughly accurate.
