Are there any freshwater sources near Cadmus? I was thinking of building an irrigation system.

All areas have some freshwater, but not necessarily enough to run large scale irrigation.

Makes sense, though I imagine some very basic dikes could be possible supposing the individual in question has access to a good flowing river or a nice lake with a significant enough tide. Though without proper cultivated agriculture and the need for fields that are not in direct contact with ground nearing the water of the aforementioned I can't see a reason they would build them yet.

If I was to say make a tribe and when describing my starting location would a plateau be a bit too large, and if so would a reasonably sized Mesa(like Grand Mesa Colorado) be OK? Just some thoughts.

Certainly! You are now the proud owner of a flint spear and some fish.

Sorry if it wasn't clear, but generally I only comment on unexpected/important outcomes. There's nothing preventing Brutus from stabbing fish with a spear, so it was unremarkable.

The storage pit isn't directly useful in terms of food storage on a year-to-year basis, but it does help prevent spoilage within each year, so you can think of it as a minor buff to reducing the amount of food you'll need to gather to keep your people well fed.

Similar to Smoking/Salting, etc. There are few methods available now that will actually allow food to keep over multiple years, but many that will "aid" with preventing starvation within a given year.
