Action seems like it would be fun, and it's likely better to see how well it will work with all of our Battalions and they're multiple specialities and training. Something like a brush patrol could be interesting, espically for the 44th since they're Light Infantry. Although, I still have some stuff I'd like to accomplish in terms of drilling [and trying out a new counter-ambush manuever I thought up while bored at work]

Aswen is kinda a French-West German-esq land, given Kasch Fletcher is a Germanic First name and a French Last name. As for the lieutenants, they are from other parts of the Empire, so I sidestepped naming them as well, but most are English or French based with Jameson, and Sawyer filling the English [Or American] and Henri being French [last names are purely made up], though members of the 44th would have Celtic and Irish like names, since the Western Lands are partially influenced by Ireland

I wanted to ask you all a question. I was wondering how quickly we should get into action. On one hand, I wanted to engage in some rustic policing, to really emphasise the sleepy, backward nature of the region. However, that could be quite boring, and I also know that the fun part of this RP will be engaging in military action and commanding your battalions. So, what are your opinions?

I think we mostly concur that action sooner rather than later would be best, but there's nothing wrong with a relatively gradual escalation into violence. That way we can fit policing missions and a bit of intrigue in before the top really blows off.

I fancy the idea of the Carbineers serving a police function within the colony, and the combination of the Carbineers, Scouts, and Blackfeet would make for a decent counter-insurgency force. As for progression, I am down for anything.

That would be an interesting combination.

The 44th can easily assist with that as well. They have decent experience fighting bush wars, as does their commander

Given that the OP's character is named Horatio Fellus (baron of Hevan) I'd be willing to bet that it's latin mixed with 18th century English. Fellus from my research might be derived from Arabic (فِلُّوس‎) or just something that sounds latin-ish.

Well, dealing politics are fine. I'd like to know about roles of the battalions in this RP. I know that we all are military battalions served as garrison, but what would be our roles? Some have to become the police force in the colony. Some have to become a colonial force dealing with any rebellions. And then the roles of support, like kitchen, logistics.

What culture are the Dangomori based off of anyhow? I keep picturing Roman-era Germanics.

I'm drawing Eliza and her family as a Spanish family. Bit secular and progressive, but not very secular.

Come across a bunch of people turner fields in dirty clothes and straw hats

"Can you gentlemen point me in the direction of the 44th Light Infantry Battalion? I was informed their barracks were nearby, but they appear to be missing."

Gregor, the forty something year old Sergeant with the super thick accent looks up

I've been trying to keep my posts roughly period-accurate, and the Sergeant Major gets introduced in the real world towards the end of the 18th century across the British army. He's borrowing the concept of the warrant officer, as a stepping stone towards the position of SM, from Lieutenant Dorothy's naval experience.

He knows that this obviously won't have any real effect in the single morning he has for the battalion to make its first impression, but he hopes that his kneejerk reaction will at least demonstrate some proactiveness to the Colonel after the fact.

44th already has a Sergeant Major in the form of Sergeant Gregor, though he's still techmically a non-com from 1st company, but has all the authority and duties of a Sergeant Major

Keeping with the imperial aspect of Dallia, the waning days of the Imperial Throne in an industrial era, likely a period of sectarian violence and neverending tension, would be a good backdrop for a regiment or brigade assigned to defend a particular region. Dangomor itself would be an interesting location for a colonial war.
