If there's still interest here, we'll do elections Saturday and Sunday (18th and 19th). So tomorrow (Friday the 17th) is the last day to declare your candidacy for Mayor if you're running. Please include the name of the character running as well, and maybe a brief bio.

Sophie Thompson will be running for mayor. Young, progressive and liberal, but her promises as a candidate have so far been limited to dealing with the essentials, and ensuring Respite has a fully functional city government.

Vivian Cherry will be running for the mayoral office. She will be the conservative, normalcy candidate. She has lived in the city all her life and so has her entire family for generations. Everyone would know the Cherry name.

The Black Step Mountain Community will be staying out of the process for now, they plan on negotiating with whatever resulting government is created post facto whenever that occurs.

Ol Hickory Ham Mike, beloved as he is in the community, will also open each session of the Hall in the future (say, before a presiding officer is elected).

Um how many people should be in our executive councils? Because we didn't really discuss what departments there are?

Like as an example, my irl town as 7 members on the town council, the mayor, vise mayor and the 5 other council members. Should I just do that? Like chose a vise, then 5 others?

The city council in Respite functions more like an executive cabinet with individual members responsible for certain portfolios. Some example portfolios might be Law and Order, Infrastructure, Social Services, etc. Basically your job is to make a set of portfolios to manage the responsibilities of the city government and fill them with characters. There's currently no restrictions on how many councilor characters each person might control so technically you could fill it with characters you yourself own but that would make you very busy indeed.

An example city council might include:
Mayor
Councillor for Infrastructure (Roads, Power, Cabling, etc)
Councillor for Education
Councillor for Emergency Services (Police, Healthcare, Fire Service)
Councillor for Waste Management hit me up

As well as portfolios for anything else you consider necessary for the city government.
