Hast thou not felt ashamed of thy words and deeds,
Hast thou not lacked vigor,
Hast thou exerted all possible efforts,
Hast thou not become slothful
Admiralty Base, OSAC-N, Day 1
"Yes, I understand sir. Of course, I will make sure that nothing goes wrong and-...yes I see, thank you. Goodbye." Setting the phone down carefully, Higashikawa sighed as he turned around, looking out the window from his office which was slightly elevated overlooking the base on a small hill. The base was somewhat modest for something operating in arctic conditions, along the coast were the dry docks that constantly had to pump the ice cold water out while moving inland there was a mess hall placed directly next to the dorms while the supply stores laid a distance away from both sites, isolated into another zone. All along the coast were various forts and machine gun emplacements, on top of rocky terrain and flat beaches respectively. Looking out, he could see the sea was clearing up ever so slightly, ice sheets lesser than they had been when he first came here.
Getting up from his office chair, he looked over to his command staff at another nearby desk, currently taking a break with no active operations beyond the independently routine air patrols as he left to take a stroll outside. At the moment, it was nearly sunrise and he still felt the need to take a walk around the base just to clear his mind and take a break from having to deal with the demands of high command.
"If only they were here, maybe then I could eat a decent meal for once." He thought to himself, strolling around the base. He checked his pocketwatch. It was nearly time for the morning alarm. Although he didn't like it, he knew that the base needed some level of discipline and having an alarm was the only thing he could bear to do so far. Soon, he heard the distinct sound of the bells of the morning alarm along with the morning message.
"Good morning! The sun has now risen, it is the start of a new day. So rise and shine and let's do our best today!"
It was simple but that was more than enough. Walking over to the mess hall, he could vaguely make out what was being made. He still couldn't forget his deployment to the southern sector, where the twins had been posted. As he entered, he took a seat, leaving his green army cap on the table as he got his daily breakfast ration along with milk tea, something the Royal Federation always had in the morning for breakfast. He knew that soon, most other ships would be arriving for their morning rations. He really had to put in that order for them to come up north soon.
