In 1967 Mankind first made contact with an extraterrestrial life form, an alien species originally identified on the planet Mars. We called it BETA, a Being of Extra Terrestrial origin that is an Adversary to the Human race. Mankind used all the technology at it's disposal in an attempt to defend itself against the BETA.. However, we were unable to stop the BETA from reaching Earth. This story is but one chapter in a much larger saga, the epic tale of Mankind's fight against the ever expanding incursion, and how it ground to a halt.
This is a story of the ones left behind after a battle that remained unknown to others. A drive to survive in the face of extinction, a story of homes turned to dust and friends turned to ashes, of never ending funerals, of those who were driven out of their homelands and the countdown to ruin halted.
This is the story of how Humanity, on the defensive for 37 years, driven off the Eurasian continent was finally pushing back in a large multi national coordinated offensive against the BETA and it's start in Europe. Defeat for us is not an option, we cannot allow our grievances to hinder us. In this hour, all of mankind looks upon us to save our world from the BETA, we must keep fighting. Now begins Mankind's counter attack, to wipe the BETA off the Earth and put an end to this long bloody war.

Welcome one and all to the first rp in a planned set of three. This rp will be based around the liberation of Europe by humanity and it's pushing back of the BETA in Eurasia, the Moon, then Mars. This rp will cover the MT/Early PMT/PMT/Early FT tech range. Now to start I know there will be multiple questions as to what "Muv-luv Alternative" is. Essentially Muv-luv Alternative is the third in a trilogy of Visual Novels based in the Sci-fi military and Alt-history genre in which mankind discovers alien life on the planet Mars, as a result the "space race" kicked into overdrive, funds of which were usually dedicated to stockpiling nuclear weapons were allocated by the Soviets, Europeans, and Americans to get to the moon first.
Of course the Americans and Europeans beat the Soviets to the moon, and what they found set forth the chain of events to follow with mankind's first lunar base being overrun by the BETA and the scientists sent there eaten. In 1973 the BETA touched down in Kashgar, China. From there on forth, Humanity fought a defensive war against the BETA using every weapon at it's disposal short of nuclear weapons (Of which only worked once on a Phase 1 hive in Canada.).
Enough about that, basics covered, onto the story itself. Muv-luv Alternative: Turning Point is a character rp story based on Mankind's liberation of Europe in 2004 from the BETA. There will be five main factions for characters all listed below. Application will be left below the listed factions and the rundown on said factions. The Bio of your character is indeed optional.

Factions
The Eastern European Socialist Alliance(German Democratic Republic, Polish People's Republic, Czechoslovakia Socialist Republic, Hungarian People's Republic, & Socialist Republic of Romania): An alliance of former eastern European Warsaw Pact nations, the Eastern European Socialist Alliance was formed to present a unified Eastern European front against the impending BETA invasion.
With the separation of the Soviet Union from their satellite states in Eastern Europe, following the failure of Operation Palaiologos, the remaining eastern European Warsaw Pact nations of East Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania, and others, with East Germany as their de-facto leader, formed the Eastern European Socialist Alliance, as a response against the oncoming BETA advance. The Eastern European Socialist Alliance became the forefront of the war against the BETA in the early 1980s, following tactics set down by the strategy of a static defence line against the BETA advance. For a while, the strategy worked, until constantly high attrition rates took their toll on the defenders.
With their support from the Soviets cut off by the BETA invasion, and with the failure of the Oder-Neisse Defence Line in 1983, the Eastern European Socialist Alliance was pushed back with great loss of life and material by the BETA, and its continued existence was made possible only by the intervention of the European Union.
The European Union/NATO: The European Union is a supranational union of various European states. As a uniting force on the European continent, the European Union, known in short as the EU, allows the various states of the continent to work towards a common goal.
The United Nations: The United Nations, or UN, is an international organization comprised of almost every nation that currently exists on Earth, and serves as a means of facilitating international cooperation between countries in almost all subjects and concerns. Their primary role is to serve as a common front where troops from various nations can cooperate on the battlefield, and to lead international efforts in the war against the BETA. The UN also coordinates humanitarian efforts for people displaced by the BETA threat, and has even spearheaded several military projects to improve the fighting strength of the world's militaries.
The United States of America: The United States of America is a federal constitutional republic located in central North America. Currently the most powerful nation in the world, the USA is one of a handful of nations that remain out of immediate threat from the BETA advance. Nevertheless, their technology remains one of the most advanced, and their military is reputed to be one of the, if not the strongest fighting force in the world, with their resources and fighting personnel spread out across several battlefronts around the world.
The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics: The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) (Russian: Союз Советских Социалистических Республик, СССР), known in short as the Soviet Union, is a socialist state formed by various smaller nations in central and eastern Europe. However since 1975 it has lost much of it's territory being forced to turn to it's rival the United States of America for supplies, in this it has been leased along with the United Nations, Alaska to train troops and other military forces to fight the BETA.
The Empire of Japan: The Empire of Japan is an island nation located on the eastern rim of the Pacific Ocean, and part of the Far East Defense Line situated in the Pacific region. A small but technologically-advanced nation surrounded by water and close to highly volatile volcanic activity, these natural barriers, however, have not stopped the nation from coming under heavy BETA attack.
The African Union: The African Union is an international organisation, consisting of nations located on the continent of Africa. While not as strong as the major nations and organisations, the African Union is a key strategic component in the ongoing war against the BETA, as being the last remaining continental region in close proximity to the front lines, the lands of the African Union house various important facilities, as well as significant resources and land space.
Unified Front of China: The Unified Front of China (統一中華戦線) represents the combined military forces of communist China, the People's Republic of China (PRC), and Taiwan, the Republic of China (ROC). The UFC's headquarters are located on Taiwan.
Allegiance:Religious fanatics that supposedly don't attack BETA and see them as Servants of God, As such they advocate the creation and acceptance of BETA derived technology. (Warning to all players signing up above. Allegiance players will be able to post and attempt to impede the progress of players from all factions
Refugee Liberation Front: The Refugee Liberation Front, or RLF for short, is a terrorist organization whose goal is to improve living conditions for refugees that have escaped the BETA advance. The RLF's personnel roster is highly varied, ranging from refugees of southern Europe to non-Russian Soviets.
They accuse the United Nations and other non-frontline nations (with special emphasis on the United States of America) of money-laundering for weapons development, and prioritizing leaders and soldiers for supplies, citing the poor social conditions of refugee camps as evidence that not enough is being done to help those that were displaced by the BETA invasion. Their demands were for the elimination of corruption in the organizations responsible for those displaced by the war and for the refugees to gain protection and citizenship rights in their adopted countries so as to stop the violence, starvation, drug addiction, and forced conscription that is currently ongoing in the camps.
While their members are motivated and determined, and are adequate infantrymen, especially with the element of surprise on their side, they lack the precision and discipline of more organized armies. As TSF pilots, RLF personnel range from moderately skilled to poor; few if any of them have any formal military training as eishi. This places them at a disadvantage when fighting against well-trained pilots.
