Nev stayed silent as he listened to Kane and Spy as they spoke to each other, Kane becoming pissed off at Spy’s remarks, but what especially got Nev’s attention was the mention of a raid on Stockton Steelworks, and soon started to chime in.
“No offense Spy, but that does seem rather too far-fetched to claim. You must have some very damning evidence if you of all people are accusing her.” Nev said, pulling his hood back and undoing his mask, it wasn’t like anyone would recognize him anyways. Pulling the mask off his face, he set it on the table next to him before trying a sip of the pint that Kane had offered to him. It tasted rather odd, but then again this was Nev’s first time trying alcohol, so he payed no mind to it, and drank about a fourth of the pint.
“Well, it ain’t all that bad really.” He said, taking another gulp of beer.

The Frenchman continues on with his smile. "Which 'damning evidence' do you want to hear first?"
"Preferably, a name." commented Conagher, his tone losing some of his cheeriness, "First things first when it comes to tracking down intruders."
"Very well," Spy shrugged, "The person who orchestrated the attack on Steelworks goes by the warlord named War Smith, but you Kane, will know her as Lillian Davidson, your mother. Since her body is full of augments, I suspect the attack was a way to steal technology to upgrade herself. As for the people who attacked the factory, they're part of the mercenary army Legion, led by your mother. They call themselves 'the Stray Dogs' and they are just one of the many sub-groups that makes up Legion."
Conagher's face gone serious as he finally understood why they knew of the secret branch of his family's company. "Since they failed the first time, they might try again or strike at us directly." the Texan frowned. "A mercenary war...hmph!"
"All walls have ears. Information comes to me naturally; your mother isn't the only one that has a network of webs and spiders all over the world." Spy smirked, looking at Kane and Nev. "Any more 'damning evidence' you want to hear?"

Dyelli Beybi wrote:She took a few moments to finish her first bottle. It probably looked like she was drinking way too fast, but JJ had never been someone who cared too much about how something looked and she had explained to Jim what was wrong with her... sort of anyway, "So umm you've possibly gathered I occasionally drink a little bit too much and like a party." JJ said, starting out on her own story, "So I was like sixteen when I discovered I was a meta. I was drunk and messing around on a balcony and I slipped and managed to impale myself right through here." she said, pressing one hand into the middle of her back and the other to the right side of her chest, a couple of inches below her collar bone. That really hurt, I might add."
"The Doctors figured the only thing keeping me alive was the great big piece of metal through my chest which kept everything in the right place or something? I don't really get it, I'm not a doctor. They figured they'd take it out and I'd die, but at least I wouldn't be suffering anymore, so they did. I didn't die though, I healed and there isn't even a scar." It sounded horrible, but JJ was trying to keep the story as light-hearted as possible. She didn't want to seem like a victim in all of this. She gave a slight laugh, "I'm quite glad that one didn't scar because I'd hate to feel I needed to wear a high necked top in this weather."
"Anyway, so my parents got a bit worried that I needed to be taught how to use my powers, despite the fact that, at that point, my powers were pretty much 'not dying when something unspeakably violent happens to me'. So they packed me off to some Metahuman Academy, which turned out to be someone's ill-conceived attempt to mould metas into super-soldiers, who could then be hired out as mercs to any warlord with a big bag of blood diamonds. That was where I met Immy."
"We were both trapped in there and neither of us wanted to be a part of what was going on." JJ explained, "Immy and I kept each other alive... she had the easy job, though there was one time when I got eaten by a demon, which really hurt. I blacked out and woke up later, naked, in a vat of some kind of protein goo which was really gross and took ages to shower off, but I understand Immy found my head and shoved it in the vat so I guess I kinda owe her for that."
JJ had had a pretty traumatic past few years, though it didn't seem to have dampened her spirits at all and she treated the horror stories she was telling like they were all a bit of a joke. It was probably her way of coping, "So at that point the mercs had pretty much given up on turning me into a super-soldier but I had also started to be able to control the way my body heals to a certain degree and I can now make a few little modifications at will." she screwed her eyes shut, holding them closed for a good 20 seconds or so before opening them again. They had turned brown this time, "Hair and eye colour is fairly easy to do. Changing skin tone takes a bit more effort and I can also change my facial structure a bit, but that takes time. I can turn into basically anyone I want... so long as they're a 20-something girl who is 5'6'' and a bit over 100 pounds."
"I'm okay at acting and pretty good at accents so the mercs figured they'd give me a go at being an assassin and implanted a big spike in my arm. I won't demonstrate as it tends to freak people out and it hurts when I use it." she grimaced, rubbing her forearm as if the very thought of using it hurt, "A few months after that though, the Syndicate broke the operation up and Immy and I got recruited. I'm not sure if it's because we were the most sane people they found in that outfit or because they felt they needed to keep an eye on us. I mean, I'm not exactly a role model for little children." and from JJ's roguish grin, it didn't look like she aspired to be either.

Jim couldn't help but laugh at JJ's remarks about turning stark naked after worm transformation. Once she mentioned it, he couldn't get the thought of him running nude around with hat as a cover out of his mind, it was so...stupid! It was ridiculous! He was about halfway done with a bottle of rum, and so his brain was a little hopped up and hyper, so much so that he burst out into a fit of laughter once she mentioned him working out, slamming the table in glee. It took him a good ten seconds to reel it back in, cover his mouth, and stop laughing, a few giggles escaping at the idea of what his mother would say if he saw him go from a monster worm to a stark naked guy. She'd probably beat his ass with her favorite iron skillet!
But soon, the giggling was over as JJ told her own story. Turns out, she had...impaled herself on a pole?! Sweet mother of Jesus! It was pretty depressing and traumatic in all respects, made him shut the hell up pretty quickly. She had been sent to a criminal-run Metahuman Training Academy, where they turned people into super-soldiers, and fed them to demons?! God, that was...horrible, he couldn't even imagine it. Made him feel like a bit of wimp for complaining over being picked on by some kids and how his little cousin gave him a bad superhero name. It made him feel like a bit of an asshat, to be honest.
Yet somehow, she was quite lighthearted about it, and told it if it was all some big story, or a comedy skit. It was pretty admirable, and again, made him a bit envious. If only he could take bad news and bad times so easily, he would actually be a pretty cool guy, or so he would like to think. Or maybe she was just tipsy.
Jim smiled back as JJ finished her story, rubbing his own hand a bit as the idea of a Wolverine-like wrist spike wormed its way in. "Yeah, somethin' tells me we ain't cut out to be role models for kids. I mean, we're half-drunk in a small pub on an island somewhere in Southeast Asia, could you imagine if all the six-year olds saw us? They'd have a right conniption fit!" he exclaimed, bits of his Texas drawl and slang starting to worm its way into his voice. "I suppose they just want any half-decent, mentally coherent, malleable superhuman college kid they can get, they're stretched out pretty thin from what I hear."
"Although, I have to admit, your power's pretty neat. Healing factor and transformation? Sign me up!" he hooted, shifting a little in his seat. "Would be so awesome to be able to restyle your hair with a bit of concentration, throw on some natural contacts, heck, even scare people and trick them! Then I could actually look like Earthworm Jim!" he said, face lighting up with the idea and holding up a few finger guns to embellish his point.
An uneasy silence followed. "Although..." he started, trying to work up the courage to ask the question. "Do you regret comin' here at all? D'you ever think it would be easier not to do this stuff and work the ol' 9-to-5?"

Kane looked down at Nev as he seemingly went from perfectly sober to absolutely bladdered in a matter of seconds "Nev...mate...you alive?" Kane asked cautiously as he prodded Nev. Kane's fears were for nothing when Nev started babbling something drunkenly "It's okay brother, happens to the best of us" Kane patted Nev on his back in a reassuring manner before looking back up at Spy "If she's watching me and watching Nev that means no doubt she'll target other cadets. I mean if I was a cybernetic arse hole, which I am kinda...I'd definitely target the guy who can support cybernetics without needing pills. Maybe take him apart and see how he works" Kane looked down at Nev to confirm he was talking about him, watching Jenny try and make some sort of sense out of the shit faced cyborg. He then looked back up at Spy once again "Oh hold on let me just call her and tell her to stop it" Kane replied to Spy's suggestion in words dripping with sarcasm.
"Come on mate you and I both know we can swat all we want, at some point, she will succeed at something. Only way we can make sure she doesn't bother us again is if we take the fight to her...somehow. Ya know I was a bit sceptical of this organisation, but as it turns out not everyone here is a self aggrandising cunt. I dare say I like it here and I won't have her ruin it for me just so she can make a little extra cash" Kane took a glass of champagne off a waiter as he walked around, downing the entire thing in one go and aggressively putting the glass back on the table "So. Spy. Here's my idea, we find her, we shoot up her little factory, we slap her in chains and then we cash in on that sweet multi-million dollar bounty she has on her head" Kane leaned back on his chair and leaned back, spinning the champagne glass between his fingers maintaining eye contact with the Spy.

“Yah, lez go kik ‘er ass an tell ‘er to bugger off!” Nev said, throwing his fist into the air as if he was ready to fight, though that was the alcohol talking. “‘sides, Jenny can prolly show ‘er a fing or two and send that bitch running like da bitch she iz!” He continued as he looked up and smiled at Jenny, who was currently not happy about any of the situation, which prompted him to look back down solemly, his fucked up brain acknowleding that he had fucked up.
“You’re mad at me, aren’t you? I’m sorry Onee-sama.” He said quietly and in a rather normal voice, though he had no idea what he actually said.

Kane shook his head at the idea "That's my mum you're talking about there and we're not killing her. She may be a vile, disgusting criminal but we're meant to be heroes here. If she surrenders and we put a bullet in her head, we're no better than the degenerates we fight against" Kane spoke passionately although he did feel like a bit of a cliché, the laws were there for a reason. So that hot blooded vengeance wouldn't become the rule "I can offer another solution. My mum may be good at business but she knows nothing about military tactics and strategy. That means she has someone working under her that knows about all that. A general or commander of sorts possibly" Kane lent forward and looked at the Spy then at Conagher "We take out this underling and capture my mum, the mercenaries won't have a leader and without my mother, nobody to put another person in charge. The result? Well, what happens when you have that many sociopaths all together with no leadership?" Kane asked rhetorically as he was desperate to get around having to kill his mother. Sure this plan would take more effort but it was still thorough.
