What is the status of Houseboats/waterborne settlements, along with simple cannons and warships?

Name of the country you are RPing as: The United Communities of Appalachia

Territory controlled: The Appalachian Archipelago, and the surrounding ocean.

Form of government, ideology (if any) and leader/s: The Communities are sitting somewhere between a federation and confederation, but with a constitution and political system adapted from the old American system. The Communities have a large amount of autonomy in internal affairs, but share a common foreign policy, armed forces, and overall economic policy.

Ethnic and religious makeup: Ethnically, the United Communities are majority white (former) American, though due to the evacuation during the Deluge has lead to a large black minority, who mainly inhabit the new urban centers of the Communities. The religious sphere of Appalachia is dominated by two forms of Protestant Christianity - Charismatic Christianity, which emphasizes everyday miracles and intercession of the Holy Spirit on behalf of the believer, and Post-Deluge Evangelical Christianity, which as the name implies, focuses on the Deluge as a second Biblical Flood, and holds the belief that those who survived the Deluge are among the chosen few who are meant to rebuild a more righteous world.

A brief history of how your country came to be: As the waters rose, the upper reaches of the Appalachian range were deemed a safe evacuation zone for those who couldn't trek to the West.

Agricultural suitability of territory: Medium, though with farmland at a premium

Number of military naval vessels: 3 Ironclads (Retrofitted ships from the US navy that moved inland with the deluge), 11 post-deluge gunboats, 10 post-deluge torpedo boats

Population of territory: 2.5 Million (As of the last census 25 million people lived in the Appalachian area, I think reducing it to 10% of it's 2010 size would be fair, but I'm open to adjustments downward.)

Name of the country you are RPing as: The North Seas Fleet

Territory controlled: Most of what's left of Alaska and some of the Canadian coast, though its mostly ports and outposts.

Form of government, ideology (if any) and leader/s: Democratic Thalassocracy, believes in pursuit of exploration and is eco-friendly.
Current Cabinet:
Minister of Environment: Ubysh Leontiy
Minister of Trade: Jean-Louis Crevier
Trade Admiral: Abraham Maurice
Fleet Admiral: Jared Lucas
President: Timoshkin Gerasim

Ethnic and religious makeup: Mainly white,with Inuit and Russian minorities.

A brief history of how your country came to be: As people migrated further and further north on the Rocky Mountains or further east across russia and then Siberia, they ended up in Alaska as the waters broke it up into many islands. During this period, the only way from island to island was on sail or houseboats, the Paddleboat making a return as coal deposits were discovered. Small ports and outposts were set up on the Northwestern coast of what was formerly canada, along with the establishment of "Townships", floating "Towns" made up of Houseboats joined together via scaffolding, creating a complex but functional mobile outpost, though most anchor in shallow areas. Meanwhile in the Bering Sea (renamed by the Fleet after the Bering Strait enlarged) Became home to a growing, but controlled, whaling industry as Whale Habitats shifted north, large whaling ships sailing along the sea looking for the next hunt. Paddleboats* became the long-range trading/exploration ships, carrying weapons to defend themselves as needed. They maintain good trade with the northern tribes and communities, and look to expand their trade routes to more distant and profitable destinations.

Agricultural suitability of territory (based on this and this, but feel free to take liberties with places like Colorado and northern Mongolia which now have more rainfall): Farming is decent enough, but most agrarian foods come from farther south, with fish like Cod and Salmon being raised on farms for food.

Number of military naval vessels (if any, also their technological level will be determined by how developed your society was pre-Deluge): There are 8 retrofit Whaling Ships, fitted with Harpoons and mounted rifles.
5 Paddleboats, armed with basic cannons with an incredibly long reload time, but also stocked with Rifles and Harpoons.
and 1 Fortresship, a Township repurposed into a mobile fortification, while currently under construction, it is planned to be complete within the next 5 years. It would serve as a means of enforcing embargoes, shooing away ships that come near a port under blockade.

Population of territory (I'm fine with a rough guess): approx. 10-13 million (a large portion live on houseboats, Townships, and Whaling Boats)

*While named Paddleboats, they rarely use the paddles unless they need to move quickly, and even then they can only keep the boiler running for a few hours before needing to shut it off due to heating problems. The rest of the time they travel via sail.

This place is not a place of honor... no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here... nothing valued is here. What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us.
The danger is in a particular location... it increases towards a center... the center of danger is here... of a particular size and shape, and below us.
The danger is still present, in your time, as it was in ours. The danger is to the body, and it can kill. The form of the danger is an emanation of energy.
The danger is unleashed only if you substantially disturb this place physically. This place is best shunned and left uninhabited.

Name of the country you are RPing as: Constitutional Monarchy of Kalaallit Nunaat

Territory controlled: Greenland and the surrounding islands

Form of government, ideology (if any) and leader/s: Constitutional Monarchy
Monarch: King Kristian II Okpik
Prime Minister: Prime Minister Markus Iqaluit

Ethnic and religious makeup: 97% Inuit, 3% Danish. A new religion has formed from the formerly dominant Lutheran church, known as Post-Delugist, something about a second great flood happened and how this is a violation of God's covenant.

A brief history of how your country came to be: When the waters began rising, and poeple started moving, the Inuit moved en masse to the island of Greenland, and some Danes too, migrated to the ironically named island, though most of them moved to the Norwegian mountains. And when the communications between the mainland went silent, the first thing the Danish did was to establish a Provisional Government, which at first, was a Republic, and since the Inuits were the majority and knew how to fight the Danes, many natives were put in positions of power, and Danish control over Greenland weakened. Eventually a real Republic was declared, but when the third winter hit, it collapsed, and in the power vacuum, Danish-Inuit men and women took control, and a sort of feudalism formed. Then as the successive winters became milder and milder each season, and crops were beginning to grow fatter and in greater numbers, so did the population, and the land healed. These warlords of Greenland were of democratic stock however, and they convened to unite the island once more, of course, when this was finished and a monarchy was formed, there were dissenters, but these were easily crushed in the following years. Fast forward to Kristian's II early days, he was able to colonize nearby islands, though these were somewhat backwater in shape. Nowadays, the Kingdom seeks to reconnect with the rest of the world, and find out whatever happened to the other Danish people.

Agricultural suitability of territory (based on this and this, but feel free to take liberties with places like Colorado and northern Mongolia which now have more rainfall): Ever since the winters became milder and the southern waters of Greenland started to be free from ice all year long, agriculture has begun booming, usage of farms in the south grows the foodstuffs of the Kingdom, and in the north, there is widespread usage of greenhouses to grow many vegetables. Fishing also began booming, and there is limited whaling.

Number of military naval vessels (if any, also their technological level will be determined by how developed your society was pre-Deluge): 10 colonial ships retrofitted to become warships, a few of these are armed with basic cannons, and all of them have rifles and harpoons in their armament.

Population of territory (I'm fine with a rough guess): Eh, myeeh, maybe 9+ million?

If all the ice in the world melted, including that of the now-expanding Antarctica, we'd only rise about 70 km. Which means that Florida would go away and a few other things, but, ultimately, not too much of the world's land.

Considering that 39% of the United States' population lives in counties on the shoreline, though, the population will probably have a massive demographic shift worldwide.

I use my NationStates stats, because a population of billions/trillions and an economy of hundreds of trillions is totally viable, trust me.
But seriously, aside from the population and GDP, just assume that my NS stats are roughly accurate.

Support: Paleo-imperialism, conservatism, libertarianism, Christianity.
Against: Stupid people, resistance to industrial progress, alt-right, any form of government at or beyond socialism.

Name of the country you are RPing as: Estado do Brazil, State of Brazil

Territory controlled: The remaining archipelago of what was Brazil

Form of government, ideology (if any) and leader/s: Nominally a representative republic, behind the scenes Brazil is a complicated political swamp, though most would be satisfied to call it a military junta. The Brazilian Armed Forces are closely intertwined with government, and rising through the ranks in the military often leads into political advancements. Many of the most high-ranking positions of the government are held by active members of the military.

Since reforms in 1997, the government has consisted of a bicameral legislature (The Council of State and the Chamber of Representatives). The Council of State consists of generals, politicians, wealthy civilians and religious leaders who have been appointed by the President, and confirmed by the Chamber of Representatives, to serve terms renewed each three years after appointment. The President is elected every four years indirectly by the Chamber of Representatives, and as well as their executive duties, they then chair the Council of State. One of the only overt, legally established links between the military and the civilian government is the ability of the Joint General Staff to remove the President from power and initiate a new election, though this is very infrequently used given how often the President is a member of the military in the first place.

Both houses have the authority to initiate legislation, though the Council of State can veto the Chamber of Representatives. The Chamber of Representatives is elected by constituency-based FPP voting every four years, though the only legal political party in Brazil is ARENA (National Renewal Alliance), the party established by the military government in 1964. While independent candidates can legally run, being nominated by ARENA for a seat is tantamount to winning it.

The Brazilian Government is nationalistic, authoritarian and corporatist. Social conservatism is common, and ARENA features a vocal minority wing of extreme Integralists, but racism is uncommon and frowned upon. Some concessions are made to the people in terms of healthcare, welfare and labor rights, but this comes less from an ideological perspective and more from an intention to pacify the population.

Notable figures/leaders in Brazil currently include:
President Michel Bolsonaro
Pope (Brazilian) Urban IX
Representative Renan de Silva (Leader of the Integralist Caucus)
Marina Vaccari Neto, Commander of Joint General Staff of the Armed Forces
João Pitta, ARENA Chamber Leader

Ethnic and religious makeup: Since the deluge, Brazil's population have interbred and assimilated into a very homogeneous, Portuguese-speaking population who are ethnically mixed. A significant majority of the population identify as Catholics, though in the years since the Deluge, particularly with the sinking of Rome, the Brazilian Catholic Church has broken with it's international body and become a political tool. Arguing that with Rome's destruction the Bishopric of Rome is dead, a Brazilian Pope resides in the post-deluge town of Novo Vaticano, claiming to continue the direct line from Saint Peter. This Church, extremely popular and claiming legitimacy in Brazil, has received little recognition from other Catholics outside the immediate region of what was once South America.

A brief history of how your country came to be: While not as fortunate as the retention of Mexico City, for example, Brazil's capital city of Brasilia which had only been built to replace Rio de Janeiro two years before the beginning of the deluge, was built at a high enough elevation to survive. This allowed the secure continuation of the Brazilian government through the crisis, though the civilian government was interrupted in 1964 by a military coup, which claimed to have stepped in due to the government's disastrous handling of the evacuations of cities like Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre which sunk quickly beneath the waves.

As more and more of the nation sunk, it became clear that harsh, decisive action was necessary. Respected artists, scientists and entrepreneurs were evacuated to regions the government estimated to be safe, while many were left along the coast. Those who could not make their way to safe zones themselves, would soon die. While this move costed many lives, it prevented the strain on housing, infrastructure and rationing in the safe zones from completely collapsing and taking the government with it. When the true extent of the threat was realized, moves were made to preserve what was possible of the unique flora and fauna of the Amazon, with the government making plans for nature reserves on what would soon become islands.

In the early days, starvation and death by exposure were common, but gradually the agriculture of the regions above the water was intensified enough to support the population, and most found roofs over their heads. When the waters stopped rising, Brazil was an archipelago, a fraction of it's former size. Fertile soils and fortunate climate allowed enough agriculture to provide for a dense population, but nonetheless Brazil became a shadow of what once made up almost half of South America. Infrastructure regressed somewhat as it became difficult to maintain, but stabilized at a reasonably developed level.

Agricultural suitability of territory (based on this and this, but feel free to take liberties with places like Colorado and northern Mongolia which now have more rainfall): Strong

Number of military naval vessels (if any, also their technological level will be determined by how developed your society was pre-Deluge): 4 Ironclads, 22 post-deluge wooden craft, plus a significant merchant marine and other ships that could be appropriated and retrofitted by the navy if necessary.

Population of territory (I'm fine with a rough guess): 14.3 million

Name of the country you are RPing as: Kingdom of Siberia

Image

Form of government, ideology (if any) and leader/s: Tsar Iosif Nikolaivich Krushnik, Absolute Monarchy, Sort of Feudalistic

Image
Christian = Blue
Eastern Orthodox = Purple
Athiest = Brown
Shinto = Red
Pagan = Green

Image
Yellow = Russian
Orange = Mongolian
Native Siberian = Blue
Kazakh = Red
Chinese = Pink
Japanese = Light Blue
Korean = Purple

A brief history of how your country came to be: When the flood wiped out much of Russia a group of bandits started controlling territory near the Siberian city of Abakan, they quickly claimed territory and amassed their numbers. When Siberia started going under they constructed a new city in Southern Siberia. King Nikolai Krushnik took absolute control and named himself Tsar (King). The Kingdom formed a peace treaty with the Mongols just south of them, but the race for suitable territory was on. Minor skirmishes happened between the Mongols and Russians as they claimed new islands. In 2016 King Nikolai died and left his Kingdom to his son Iosif (Joseph). Iosif took power quickly and unmercifully crushed the small rebellions that wished to secede from the Siberian Kingdom. With that he showed himself to be a strong and capable ruler. At first Iosif wanted to change the Kingdom to becoming more Communistic, but the people rebelled in mass numbers and threatened to topple the whole government. The Russians were done with Communism and favored Western ideas. The Japanese migrants in the East already had a Capitalist economy and were very profitable in trade. They also had a good chance of seceding since their technology was superior to that of the rest of the Kingdom. King Iosif decided to copy the Japanese and install a Capitalist economy, he befriended the Japanese migrants and tried to make them happy. Over time the poorest people sort of started living as peasants in a feudal society. The strange thing was that these "peasants" actually had the right to leave their feudal lords and join the capitalist economy. Parts of the Siberian Kingdom had feudal lords ruling over people and parts of the Kingdom were just tribes hunting and gathering to survive. Most of the Kingdom was free to an extent and profited greatly over Iosif's rule. King Iosif tries to be kind unlike his father: his father's brutal oppression of the people to gain more power (he was one of the leading bandits) had a real effect on people. King Iosif rules with a kind but strong hand. The Siberian Kingdom is known for their extensive trading and land hungry conquering.

Agricultural suitability of territory: Much of it is suitable for agriculture, the soil is fertile enough to sustain the population. The northernmost island is not really suited for agriculture. And the northwestern islands also do not have good enough land for agriculture. Many small islands are not suitable for agriculture.

Number of military naval vessels : 200 wooden ships of various sizes. That number keeps growing since the country has a lot of lumber available.

Population of territory: 4.6 million (Many immigrants from China, Japan, Korea, and other places)
