PLAYER CHARACTER APPLICATION
VITALS
Name: Kodiak Marsden
Nickname/Alias: Null
Appearance:
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Build: 5'4, 119 lbs
Primary Ability: Power nullification. Kodiak can mark a single target and nullify their powers, but this process isn't instant. To mark the target, Kodiak must hit them with a special magical attack that takes seven seconds to charge up and generally travels in a straight line. If it misses, she has to charge it up again. This attack comes in the form of an arrowhead made from light energy, which will be propelled through the air at high speeds by her and can hit someone regardless of the armor worn by them, since it's a spiritual attack and not a physical one.
Other Abilities: N/A
Power Drawbacks: Kodiak's summoning circle must be uninterrupted while she's generating her nullification spell, and this circle will appear for a five foot radius around her while she does it. Also, because her attack isn't the most accurate, it can take time for her to actually hit someone. Missing is possible. She can only nullify one target at once and the nullification will disappear from the last target after switching to another target. The exact range isn't known either, but apparently the nullification can be escaped with distance. Maybe about a quarter of a mile or so.
Equipment: Because of her lack of an offensive ability, Null specialized in firearms from a young age and carries a variety of weapons. Her normal loadout is an M16A2 rifle as well as a Dragunov sniper rifle, along with some smaller weapons such as a TEC-9 and a Makarov pistol. She usually has at least two pistols on the inside of her coat, when she's wearing it, and she also straps sheathed knives to her sides in a normal loadout as well as at least one pistol or knife on a leg holster. If needed, she can switch out the sniper rifle for a launcher based weapon such as an RPG-26 or an Igla. The M16 can sometimes be switched out for a SCAR-H or a bladed weapon depending on the exact mission circumstances, but Null prefers the simple over high tech weapons and generally doesn't use the latter. After all, fancy technology is more prone to having problems than weapons that are tried and tested on the battlefield.
DETAILS
Nationality: American
Hometown: San Diego, California
Sexuality: Straightish
Biggest Flaw: Null finds it hard to feel anything after her upbringing. She was left, long story short, mentally broken from a childhood that went beyond the realm of normal abuse. She's already been to hell and back, and she's left not feeling much of anything at all now. Her coldness could be considered a strength by some because it makes her resilient, but it hurts her when the good times finally come around. Most people know what a family is like, even if they don't have the best relationship. For Null, family is simply a scar.
Main Skills: After her upbringing, Null can survive just about anything and keep moving. She doesn't let things affect her for long, at least not to the extent of knocking her off her path and keeping her from going after her goals. In addition, she's beautiful but deadly. Null was trained in Muay Thai, Shotokan Karate, Sambo, Folk Wrestling, and shooting sports from as soon as she could walk. Her skills were reinforced by being thrown into life and death situations, and Null is no longer afraid to die or to be killed. She's highly competent in both unarmed combat and shooting, especially using her choice weapon, the battle rifle. Her size does hold her back, but her training helps a lot against those who don't have the same advantage.
Personality: Cold. That's one way to sum up Kodiak. Damaged is another word. Kodiak doesn't know if she's always been like this, or if it's a response to what she went from. Every person is a potential enemy. A rival. She might be a hero, but that doesn't mean she isn't highly aggressive. Even with friends, she doesn't show a ton of open emotion and instead deflects with aggressive snark and sarcasm. Even to the people that she actually likes. You could call Kodiak an asshole. And you wouldn't be wrong. Being nice would have only gotten her killed earlier in her life. She's stoic and a lone wolf by nature, and if that rubs people the wrong way, she doesn't care. She just cares about doing her job and living another day.
Biography: Kodiak Marsden was born in sunny San Diego, California, to a family that had quite a lot of money on their hands. She should have had a good life based on that. After all, she was born into a nice city in a nice first world country to a family that wouldn't have any problem taking care of her and her siblings. Unfortunately, that's not how things actually went. The money that had been earned by the Marsden family, led by the important figures of Hadrian "Padre" Marsden and Junita "Madre" Marsden, was gained through illegitimate means. Particularly, Padre was a hitman that specialized in metahuman targets. His plans, however, were further branching than just settling down with the money from that job and starting a family. Padre's grand plan was to work for himself, and to do that, he would need employees. Offspring, who would some day take over the family business after learning the skills that they needed to be hunters and killers.
The Marsden children were raised brutally for one purpose, to fight metahumans. There were more of them, originally. In order of oldest to youngest, there was Rowdy(Reaver), Minerva(Deadeye), Kodiak(Null), Eternal(Aqua), Shyla(Vixen), Elex(Rat), Tali(Blade), and Calahan(Kicks). But Calahan and Tali wouldn't survive, not making it through the brutal training. It wasn't just this training that the Marsden children had to worry about, but each other. There was only so much food given to them, and they had to compete for it. Out in the Texas desert, where they were eventually taken, there was no chance to run away or find food elsewhere. If they wanted to survive, they had to battle it out using the skills that they learned. Padre would give performance rewards to the fiercest fighters, gifts in exchange for their loyalty and effort. But the methods needed to get those gifts? It's enough to give someone nightmares.
The Marsdens grew up attacking each other with knives and machetes, hatchets and revolvers. It was a battleground, and the children spent much time removed from their parents. Of course, who their parents were varied. They weren't all from the same mother, and Null is only full sisters with Aqua. But they would spend a lot of time alone in the house, and when food arrived, it would be a bloodbath. Still, most of them survived somehow, including Shyla and Rat, both of whom don't possess powers. Despite her strength, Null ended up on the bottom of the social standing. She spoke against Padre and against the operation that the Marsdens were running: one that was now based on something more profitable than hits. The Marsdens captured metahumans and sold them into slavery, the teens doing the work while their parents enjoyed the benefits. Null was the only one to voice her discontent, at least publicly, and she would pay dearly for it.
The torment didn't stop. Others received rewards in food and other things to go after Null, but while others would end up dead, she survived this and struck back with some good hits of her own. One time, she ambushed Aqua while her sister was coming from a shower, stabbing her for a pair of shoes. Another time, she outsmarted her attackers and threw Minerva off of the roof of the house after luring her up there without backup. Null was quick thinking enough to survive, but that didn't mean she thrived. There were plenty of beatings. Multiple murder attempts. Everyone was out to get her and receive their reward for it, and never once was a parental figure there to protect her. No, the parent figures were the ones behind all of this, the ones who created supersoldiers out of their children by forcing them into situations that few could imagine being in.
Padre attempted to get rid of Null by sending the others after her, but she managed to stay away from death despite being on the brink of it several times. She cut a deal with Reaver once, teaming up to usurp Minerva of her top position in the social standings. Another time, she hid outside for a week and ate only what she was able to scavenge from the California forest. When Padre locked her in with two of the best fighters in the group, Minerva and Reaver, she exited bloodied but victorious and had managed to outlast them by resting against the fence for most of the fight and coming alive once they tired themselves out. Her life was a bloodsport, and she had enough of the madness, which walked a fine line between an anarchy and a dystopia.
When the Marsden family went to Dallas to work with Overlord, Null snapped and opened fire on Minerva and Reaver, not killing them but giving herself enough time to escape. She would be captured by the Syndicate and after explaining her background, she was considered for Syndicate membership and was taken back to Santa Marina, waiting there as the paperwork was pending. It wasn't that she wanted to be a hero, but it was something that would give her protection and keep a roof over her head, and so she accepted the eventual offer to join the Cadet program. But just because life is better doesn't mean life is any easier, as she would soon find out the hard way when she arrived at Syndicate HQ and found that the civilized world isn't so easy for someone coming from a world like hers.

Here's the options.
A: Cannes, France. At a resort that's owned by the Marin family.
B: Phuket, Thailand. At a more reserved resort with less media and outside people around.
C: Atlantic City, NJ. Where you can try sneaking into casinos.
D: Crete, Greece. Another European option with a bit more sun than some of the other options.

The last I saw was Nev, Philip and Admina go in. JJ does reccon. Everyone else stay in the van until the fighting starts.
Admina didn't like her part. JJ volunteered to do it, but nothing was agreed after that unless I missed a post?
