History: It was 2068 when they invaded. Alien terror descended from the skies, ravaging cities across the world. The Reserve project was initiated as a way to allow humanity to carry on the fight even as Civil Services collapsed, qualified personnel was killed by the millions, and global social organisation was screeching to a halt. By automating the war industry, it was thought, it would be possible for the United Nations to continue the war without relying on the increasingly unstable world economy and society. Alas, it was not to be. The invasion was relentless, and the project was only halfway through its first phase, having not even begun the production of weapons, when the United Nations ran out of engineers to work on it.

I think it would be really cool for someone to take the Roman Republic just before its fall, since all that territory is still there. I have other plans, though.

Actually, I have two ideas. If I can do both, I'd like to, but let me know what the OP/Co-OP think about this.

• This is a repeat of the post-apocalyptic faction. In 2050 (or so), after the apocalypse, the people of Northern California fought the people of Southern California and won their independence as their own faction. The new Grand Republic of Jefferson-Maidu was formed, with a guerilla army infused with the latest Silicon Valley technology.
• Also from about that time (very different scenario), two technologies emerged: chemists found a way to strip an atmosphere of its carbon dioxide, and physicists discovered portals. This paved the way to the colonization of Venus and Mars. Of these two, Venus was more successful, and after Earth's collapsed, Venus began recolonizing the planet (in South America).

• Swedish Empire, during the rise of its imperial conquest
• ANZAC (Australia and New Zealand Army Corps)
• Argentina, in an alternate reality where they replaced the United States as the rising Western Hemispheric power circa 1900 (the two nations' GDPs were about the same then)
• Empire of Mali, if Mansa Musa hadn't spent all the nation's gold and resources (imagine a nerfed Saharan Wakanda)
